THEY’VE DONE IT AGAIN

I’ve been checking on their stats on Top 50 Spotify Global and US and they’ve remained in the top 5 to top 10 consistently since hitting the charts! It’s extremely impressive that they’ve maintained stats this high in general and especially in the face of new releases by BLACKPINK and Justin Bieber alike, both of whom have both MASSIVE and old fan bases (BP debuted 2016, JB in 2009).

Coupling this with other events, the POC community (especially in the US) has been winninggggg! It’s definitely a spark of light when all our communities are facing hardship of some kind, like a balm on a wound.

Personally, these kinds of wins reminds everyone that we’re all still here whether others like it or not and that we’ll continue to rise and excel no matter what is thrown at us. While I myself am not Korean, or Asian for that matter, I’ve always been firm in this belief in terms of the POC community: when one of us win, all of us win.

So congratulations to the Korean community and the Asian community as a whole for gaining a new form of absolutely awesome rep! I hope that the adults feel happy and soothed at seeing this absolutely amazing movie representing you so beautifully and that you take glee in knowing that your children will have someone to look towards and be able to relate. That they will be able to look at them and say, “they’re me!”, and that they take comfort in this movie and the love this movie has received whenever someone tries to bring them down and make them feel othered for being who they are and loving what they love.

AND congratulations to all my artists, writers, musicians, actors and more for proving once again how important the arts are in our lives! Whether you’re doing it in a professional capacity, a personal one, both or something else, never stop pursuing and participating in your passions. They and you see important in giving us a reason to enjoy our lives!

you don't have a personal responsibility to break stereotypes about your demographics. you don't have to be the perfect representation. you don't have to be a good representation. you are allowed to exist as you are, even if it somehow fits into stereotypes.

you're allowed to have your experiences, hobbies, expressions, traits, problems, symptoms, etc. even if they're stereotyped. you are not a living stereotype. you are a person. a person who happens to have some traits. you're not making the world less diverse. your existence already contributes to diversity.

Please please please think of trans people of color when you’re going to make a generalized statement. When you’re making posts about passing tips, medical treatments for transitioning, even light hearted stereotypes include people of color in your sentiments.

As a black trans person it is so fucking isolating to see stuff I’m supposed to relate to only to find that they weren’t talking about me or people like me.
