In a world where silence often speaks louder than words, this poem confronts the cost of our quiet complicity. For those who still believe in the power of voice, this is for you.

The Price of Silence-

They told us silence was wisdom,

that biting your tongue was brave.

But silence is a blade we hold inward—

cutting truth from our throats

while the world burns politely.

It doesn’t keep the peace—

it buries it.

A neighbor dragged out at dawn.

You shut the blinds.

A child asked why the world hurts.

You changed the channel.

A woman stood and screamed,

“This is wrong!”

You said, “She should’ve known better.”

But the silence took notes.

It learned your posture,

wore your calm like armor.

It held the door for the powerful,

nodded along to the lie,

and whispered in the dark,

“Go ahead. They won’t stop you.”

And still, the children are watching—

eyes wide in a world that keeps flinching.

They see who speaks

and who lowers their gaze.

They’re learning what courage costs,

what silence buys,

and who will bleed

for a better world they might inherit.

So speak.

Even if your voice shakes.

Even if no one claps,

or listens,

or stays.

Because silence is a currency—

and if you don’t spend your voice,

they’ll spend your future.

Happy Juneteenth, lovelies! . It took 2.5 years for all slaves to be set free and a lot longer for our black family to be recognized as citizens. Today, we are still fighting for them to be treated as human. With dignity and respect of life. I know people are fighting to defend the police in all this. But it goes deeper than them. It's time to revamp our society and prove that life, and quality there of, are more important than bank accounts and aggression. Also, being an officer is a choice. As is how you act and report. June 01, 2020 It’s the start of a new month, this month also marks the beginning of Pride Month. A month for the LGBTQ+ Community. A time where we get to come together and love on one another the way we should get to love on one another all year round! We give thanks to our black queens, our black transgender queens for fighting to give us this month, but it’s not over, we must continue to fight! But we should also celebrate, celebrate how far we’ve come, celebrate who we are, celebrate for the love that will always overcome! We will continue to express our strength and unity for our community. . . . It’s actually perfect that these protests and riots are happening now, they may have started in May, but they continue on in the month of June, the month for Love, the month we all come together. Her death anniversary was yesterday...I didn’t post it because I was on vacation and happy with sharing that time with family and I was avoiding that cynical side of my mind, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t post about a hero. “I go up and down a lot. I love seeing people happy. If a man wants to date a man, let him be in love and happy. If a woman wants to date a woman, let her be in love and happy. Nobody looks at you funny when you walk down the street in a heterosexual relationship. You don’t constantly feel judged. You don’t feel like you can’t express your love for your partner in public. You don’t get beat up or called names for being straight. STOP THE HATE. We’re all human!!! They deserve to love who they want like you deserve to love who you do.

#TransparencyPost This year was an exciting year for us. In 2019, we released our very first book and became self-published authors. This year we both gained new clients! We also began our clothing line as a strategy to promote mental health awareness! We were booked for a few seminars/workshops/speaking engagements. Lastly, both co-founders of S.T.E.P.S. Counseling & Consulting decided to take a leap of faith and quit their full-time job to become full time entrepreneurs! This was all done while working towards completing our doctoral degree and dealing with life in general (including both co-founders moving, one of the co-founders becoming a #mom for a second time then battling with #postpartum and the other co-founder having a #miscarriage). So yes, we are proud of our accomplishments but it was not easy! There was a lot of late nights, crying, wanting to give up, doubt, etc. However, it was our faith in God, faith in each other and the #LOVE and #SUPPORT of STEPSisters & STEPSbrothers (our followers, friends, family, clients and customers). We are truly grateful for every purchase, like, comment, and repost! The support we received was more than we ever imagined, so we just want to truly say THANK YOU‼️ We are filled with gratitude and truly appreciate each of you���🏽🙌🏽💫 We also decided to be #transparent because we are licensed counselors but we go through things also. That’s what makes us human. That’s what makes us relatable. That’s why we fight so hard to be mentally healthy ourselves and promote mental health awareness so much!
