PSA since I haven't mentioned it in a while:
"Athiktomisia" is a term for ableism specifically against touch averse people, because just calling it general "ableism" is too broad and just gives people excuses to ignore you.
It comes from the greek word that means pretty much "untouchable".
Solitaremit / solitaremity refer to a touch averse person who does not get touch starved and does not crave touch in any way.
Solitaremisia is athiktomisia specifically against touch averse people who do not want any kind of touch ever.
because even within the touch averse community there's still the idea that you must crave touch even if you don't enjoy it, or else there's something horribly inhumanely wrong with you -.-
@solitaremit is a sideblog I created to try and archive info about it.

Hi hopefully I dont word this wrong :') Do you have a compilation of definitions of some of the newer words youve been using? Like Athiktomisics, Transmisia, Etc. I know ive seen when you made the posts but I cant find them cause tumblr is tumblr :') I think transmisia is just transphobia but reworded since its not a phobia but for some of the others im a bit lost on.
Thank you for asking, you didn't word this rudely at all! Thank you for being willing to learn!
Transmisia
Transmisia is indeed ""transphobia" but minus the "-phobia" suffix, because hating trans people isn't an anxiety disorder like phobias are, and people who do have phobias get treated horribly because people think it means they're bigots when they're not.
The -misia suffix comes from the word "misos" for "hatred", which is also where the word misogyny comes from! Miso-hatred, gyn-women. Misogyny = hatred of women.
_____
Athiktomisia (link to coining post)
Athiktomisia is bigotry towards people who are touch averse, with athikto translating to, roughly, untouchable or thereabouts, and the -misia suffix like above indicating hatred. Athikto+misia = hatred of those who are untouchable.
_____
Solitaremit, soliteremity, etcetera (link to coining post)
Solitaremit is a specific form of touch aversion where the person is touch averse, and also does not get ""touch starved"" or have any desire for touch at all, specifically created because many touch averse people who do not get touch starved were being alienated even in touch averse spaces, because desiring touch and being touch starved was still behind held up as normal and universal.
Solitaremity is...uh, the state of being solitaremit. Example sentence: Most people, even those who are otherwise touch averse, don't even know that solitaremity exists.
Solitaremity was created specifically to be a unique word that is brand new, and thus (meant to be) easy to search for and find, combining the words "solitary" and "hermit" for maximum emphasis.
_____
Solitaremisia
Solitaremisia is, again, the -misia suffix, combined with solitaremit to specify hatred against people who are touch averse who specifically do not desire touch in any way, even with touch starvation. Which is unfortunately a common attitude even in other touch averse people :|
_____
Gregariable
Gregariable will probably be used at some point, it was created as the counterpart to solitaremit, it means someone who desires touch and gets touch starved, whether or not they're also touch-averse. Aka, 99.99% of people are gregariable. It combines the words "gregarious" and "sociable" to create a unique word so that it would be easy to search for.
_____
Aroacemisia
Aroacemisia is bigotry against aroace people in particular, again with the -misia suffix to indicate hatred.
Amisia, acemisia, and aromisia are hatred towards aspec people in general, hatred towards asexual people, and hatred towards aro people.
_____
Exorsexism
Exorsexism is the specific hatred of nonbinary and genderqueer people, which is separate from, but sometimes a part of, transmisia.
Murderbot is nonbinary, so any transmisia it faces is inherently exorsexist.
_____
It its antagonism
it its antagonism refers to hatred targeted specifically at people who use it/its pronouns, usually always combined with exorsexism. It its antagonism is a form of neopronomisia.
_____
Neopronomisia
Neopronomisia is hatred of pronouns other than she/her or he/him. This includes but is not limited to pronouns like it/its, te/ter, and they/them.
_____
Let me know if you need any more defined!

Pinned post.
My main blog is @rjalker. My pronousn are it/its.
What is solitaremit? Solitaremit is a term coined to describe people who are both touch averse / touch repulsed, and who never experience "touch starvation", where someone craves physical contact with others.
Let me repeat that again: Someone who never gets touch starved. The key word here is "never". Solitaremit is not intended to encompass a spectrum of experiences, it defines a specific experience only, and that is intentional. Touch aversion/repulsion is itself already a spectrum, this term has been created specifically to allow the most silenced part of that spectrum a way to have a voice.
Here is the coining post for the term solitaremit, as well as its counterpart for people who do experience touch starvation.
Here is the archived version of that post.
Here is the PDF version of the text in the post, as well as the HD versions of the pride flags.
Why do we need the word solitaremit?
Because touch starvation is touted as some universal experience every single person ever born has, and people claim that if you say otherwise, that either means you're lying to yourself and are purposefully "denying yourself" touch as a form of self-harm, or you're so traumatized and damaged already that you can't trust yourself to know what you do and do not need.
This term was coined to offer a safe haven for the people it describes, because every other part of the touch averse/repulsed communities is already seemingly dedicated to being touch starved, and in eternal conflict over wanting something you simultaneously hate.
Well I literally do not want it at all. I never have and I never will. I do not crave physical touch. I do not get touch starved. I am not suffering or self-harming or denying myself a basic universal need.
I am touch averse, and I am solitaremit. I do not need or want you to pity me or lecture me on how much I'm hurting myself by not letting other people touch me.
This blog is being created to spread awareness of the term itself, so other people can use it if they want, and so I can answer questions from other people if they have any.
If I can find them, I will also reblog stories and art with solitaremit characters, positivity posts, and anything else I think will be helpful or fun. I will also reblog posts calling out and explaining athiktophobia (ableism against touch averse people), and those will be tagged as "athiktophobic posts". There is not yet a term for ableism specifically against solitaremit people, but I'm sure we can come up with something, since it'd definitely be helpful.
You can send in questions, memes, actually respectful writing prompts, ect.

This isn't hate I swear. I just wanted to let you know that there really is no work-around for writing appearing in disability searches. Tumblr's search feature brings up posts that even mention something, even if not in the tags- if I say a character has PTSD, regardless of how I tag, my post shows up in the PTSD search. Tags that mention PTSD at all appear in the PTSD tag. Yeah, there's definitely a problem with people tagging their fics as PTSD, but the biggest part of the problem is Tumblr's search feature being extremely unhelpful. We're trying, I swear, but sometimes the problem really is just Tumblr.
Then the whump community needs to figure out specific terms that will only be used for fiction so that the posts are not clogging up actual disability tags.
Figure out different ways of spelling things or create new acronyms.
The problem is not even that people are tagging their whump stories as disabilities, though that is also, obviously a major problem. It's that it doesn't matter how many whump related tags I filter, because every single person tags their things differently! Not even filtering the word "whump" lets me filter the posts! I literally just went through five pages of the touch averse tag and it's completely unusable, even though I'm filtering the word whump, and whumpee, and so many other things.
Make up new words as a community. Legitimately.

Here's an apparently radical concept for people to get through their heads:
If you know someone doesn't like being touched, for any reason, and you want to respect their boundaries? You want to actually show them you respect them and care about them?
Don't even ask if you can touch them. Literally just do not ever try to touch them or even ask them to let you touch them. Literally just leave them alone.

A new pride flag:
TAIN - The Answer is No.
There's two versions since I couldn't decide which one I liked better.
This flag is for people who are any flavor/level of all of the following:
agender*
aromantic
asexual
aplatonic
touch-repulsed
sex-repulsed
romance-repulsed
use it/its pronouns (you don't have to exclusively use it/its)
don't want a QPR (I'm not sure if there's a specific term to describe this, platonic-repulsed feels too broad)
(*if you identify with xenogenders, but find that agender is the best way for you to communicate your gender to most (usually cis, lol) people, you can use this)
Pretty much as long as you use it/its pronouns and just do not experience any attraction and do not want to be in any comitted/long-term/special relationship, this flag is for you.
It pretty much encapsulates what I mean when I say "I'm a fucking hermit, just leave me alone".
TAIN - The Answer is No.
And I guess people who identify with this term can call themselves tainic. It doesn't always have to be capitalized.

[ID: Two versions of a pride flag. The first has five stripes, the second has six. The stripes are in order from top to bottom: black, dark grey, light grey, white, and pale orange. The second flag is the same as the first, but with an extra dark orange stripe under the pale orange one. End ID.]
I designed this after taking sleeping medicine so I really cant' remember what the colors mean, though I do remember that they definitely mean something...
This flag can be used for whatever you'd use a pride flag for. Art, icons, headers, moodboards, redbubble designs, whatever.
If you like this concept but don't check all the boxes for this flag, you're welcome to create less specific versions. I would recommend changing the orange stripes to other colors, and keeping the black grey and white, but you can do whatever you want, it's not a requirement.

here's an example of just one of too fucking many to count athiktomisic posts that show up in the touch repulsed and touch averse tags. You know, the places where people who are touch averse are supposed to be able to go to avoid shit like this??
Anonymous said:
Prompt idea: touch repulsed (unless iniciated themselves) aroace and touch starved aroace try and navegate a platonic relationship in a middleground
the post was tagged:
#writing prompt, #prompt, #aromantic, #aroace, #touch repulsed, #touch starved, #friendship, #vaguerel, #submitted
link to original post. Archived link, since I hope the original will be deleted at some point or at least edited to be educational >:(
I am attempting to make this post as short and simple as possible.
Here is the simplest way I can possibly explain why this is ableist as shit:
The only so-called "middleground" between someone who is touch averse and someone who is asking them for touch, is the touch averse person suffering.
There are no ifs, ands, or buts about this.
If you ask touch averse people to "negotiate a middleground" between respecting their boundaries and causing them harm, you are doing nothing but causing harm.
Why is it always touch averse people who are forced to "compromise" on their boundaries?
Why is it always touch averse people who are fucking demonized for having boundaries?
That's what this prompt is doing, intentionally or not. The entire premise of this prompt is "a touch averse person exists, and that causes problems for other people".
Why is it always touch averse people who must negotiate and compromise on their boundaries?
Why is it always the touch averse person who must suffer for the sake of others?
[Plain text: "Why is it always the touch averse person who must suffer for the sake of others?" End plain text.]
Stop writing stories like this. Stop asking others to create stories like this. Stop fucking perpetuating the same ableism touch averse people face their entire fucking lives.
Let touch averse people have boundaries that no one ever fucking asks them to compromise on.
Let's frame it this way:
Say you don't want to be thrown into lava, but someone asks you to "negotiate a middleground" on that boundary.
This compromise, you are told, will still literally involve you being thrown into lava, but apparently, it's okay now, because you're being shamed into agreeing to it. What are they compromising on, you ask? Well, nothing! Literally nothing. They get everything they want, you lose everything you need.
Would you be happy with this arrangement?
Would you feel happy and safe and respected by being thrown into lava, or shamed for refusing? Even shamed even when you are thrown in?
No?
Congratulations! Now you have an idea of the kind of shit touch averse people have to put up their whole life!
If you actually want to respect touch averse people, don't even fucking ask us to compromise on our boundaries. If you wouldn't demand a sex repulsed person have sex with you just because you're horny, don't demand a touch averse person to touch you just because you're touch starved.
[Plain text: "If you actually want to respect touch averse people, don't even fucking ask us to compromise on our boundaries. If you wouldn't demand a sex repulsed person have sex with you just because you're horny, don't demand a touch averse person to touch you just because you're touch starved.". End Plain Text.]
End of fucking line.

Book 5, (book 6 chronologically because Martha Wells decided to make things difficult)
but people want to pretend like Murderbot's actually getting more comfortable with letting people touch it, rather than getting more comfortable setting firm boundaries. Because they don't like the message the author is beating them over the head with.
Arada rubbed her eyes and her mouth pulled in at one side. “Are you trying to make me feel better?”
“No.” I actually wasn’t. I lie to humans a lot, but not to Arada, not about this. “I wouldn’t try to make you feel better. You know what I’m like.”
She made a snorting noise, an involuntary expression of amusement. “I do know what you’re like.”
Her expression had turned all melty and sentimental. “No hugging,” I warned her. It was in our contract. “Do you need emotional support? Do you want me to call someone?”
“I’m fine.” She smiled.
This is character development for everyone involved (Arada took the longest to figure out Murderbot didn't want to be touched because she wasn't picking up on its nonverbal cues the way Mensah did, Murderbot has been learning to TELL people it doesn't want to be touched rather than just bearing it in silence), but because solitaremisics don't like the fact that Murderbot is reaffirming and strengthening its boundaries instead of weakening and compromising on them, they pretend like this isn't what's actually happening.
Even though it's a very clear linear progression from book 1 to this point that is not at all difficult to understand as long as you aren't already determined to pretend it's not happening.

Some important additions to this post because people in this fandom fucking suck.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID: Six pictures of Murderbot from the cover of All Systems Red, in front of different pride flags. Murderbot is shown from the chest upward, wearing grey armour, with a helmet that hides its face behind a dark visor like a spacesuit. Each has the word "Oh," in the top left corner, and "Fuck you" at the bottom, with text in the right upper corner completing the sentence. The first has Murderbot in front of the it/its pride flag and reads, "Oh, you insist on misgendering me 'to be respectful'? Fuck you.".
The second has the touch-repulsed flag, with stripes of orange, red, black, red, and orange, and says, "Oh, you erase the fact that I'm touch-repulsed? Fuck you.".
The third is a combination of the sex-repulsed and romance-repulsed flags, with a very dark grey center, a vertical purple stripe on the left, a vertical green stripe on the right, and inside each stripe a dark grey circle with a white minus symbol inside it. Each stripe is separated from the grey by a white line. It reads, "Oh, you erase my repulsion towards sex, romance, and any other form of relationship? Fuck you.".
The fourth is the aroace flag, with stripes of orange, yellow, white, light blue, and navy blue, and reads, "Oh, you erase the fact that I feel neither romantic nor sexual attraction? Fuck you.".
The fifth is the "you are looking away" flag, with stripes of dark purple, black, grey, and desaturated green, and reads, "Oh, you ship me with other characters? Fuck you.".
End ID.]
Free fucking memes for everyone to use as reactions when they come across assholes erasing Murderbot's identity for the sake of fucking shipping.
If you haven't seen anyone doing these things, I hope for your sake it stays that way.
Here's a blank one so you can make your own as long as you aren't doing any of this fucking shit.

[ID: Three screenshots from the show The Good Place, showing Chidi and Eleanor talking.
Chidi has four pride flags around his head:
Aroace, with stripes of orange, yellow, white, blue, and navy blue.
Touch averse, with stripes of orange, red, black, red, orange, with a black and red milkweed flower in the center.
Solitaremit, with stripes of light grey, gold, orange, red, black, and red-purple.
Nonpartnering, with stripes of sky blue, cyan, dark grey, purple-pink, and dark purple. In the center is a white, rounded, five pointed star.
Chidi speaks first, gesturing for emphasis: "What you are doing is harmful. You are hurting oppressed people with your behavior. You are hurting people who face erasure and oppression from all sides of our society no matter where they go, in a place whose whole entire purpose is to be welcoming and safe for them.".
Eleanor, smiling, responds, "Actually, no, it doesn't hurt anyone at all. I know, because I don't face this oppression, and it doesn't hurt me, that means it doesn't hurt anyone at all. My behavior isn't hurting anyone.".
The word "don't" in "I don't face this oppression" is underlined for emphasis.
Chidi responds, eyes wide, in all caps, "I literally just explained to you that your behavior is hurting people".
End ID.]
People are like "What do you mean I'm a bigot, all I did was tell oppressed people they aren't actually facing bigotry!!!"

it's so fucking annoying because "touch averse" or "touch repulsed" should fucking be enough but noooooooooooooooooo we need a specific term that means "does not get touch starved and has literally zero desire to be touched ever" just so we can find shit that's not invalidating and still fucking perpetuating the idea that everyone /must/ desire physical affection even if they don't want to enact it -.-
Feel free to fucking suggest ideas, I literally can't think of anything, because "touch averse" or "touch repulsed" should fucking cover it but it apparently doesn't. It's so fucking annoying.
Update:
I am coining the term "solitaremit", which is a combination of "solitary" and "hermit" because it's easy to remember and straight to the point, and doesn't exist anywhere else on the internet, so it can't be mixed up with anything else.
also the term "gregariable" which is a combination of "gregarious" and "sociable" for people who do experience touch starvation, whether or not they're touch amiable or averse. Also does not yet exist on the internet, so it can't be confused for anything else.
Solitaremit works as an adjective the same way as touch averse/touch repulsed do. IE: "It is solitaremit, it doesn't like being touched and doesn't get touch starved".
Same with gregariable. "They are gregariable, they get touch starved." "I am touch averse and gregariable, I don't like being touched, but I still get touch starved"
Solitaremity would be used to describe the thing...I can't think of the grammar word. "most of the stress 'caused by' solitaremity is caused by gregariable people refusing to respect solitaremit people's boundaries or existence."
I will be editing tags related to solitaremity into all my posts about touch aversion to help put shit in the tags to start with.
I have no doubt these terms will be shortened or made easier as time goes on, that's perfectly fine, this is just something to give us a fucking foundation to at least stand on.
The tags I'll be editing in are as follows if you'd like to copy and past them.
#solitaremit, #actuallysolitaremit, #actually solitaremit, #solitaremitiy,

do I really need to start adding "if you get touch starved do not fucking argue with me" on my posts about not erasing Murderbot's touch aversion when it explicitly does not get touch starved and literally reiterates and strengthens its boundaries after being forced to bend them in the last book?
Yes. There are multiple kinds of touch aversion.
And yours is not the one being represented here. If it were, I would not have a single fucking problem with what people are writing.
Charley Pollard likes holding hands and hugging, but hates sex and kissing. I do not get mad when people write about her holding hands or hugging someone. I do get mad when they write her kissing or worse, having sex with someone.
Murderbot does not enjoy touching. It does not seek out touch. From anyone. Not even people it likes and trusts.
If Murderbot sought out touch and enjoyed being touched and got touch starved, I'd have literally zero problem with people writing about that. But that is the exact opposite of the case, and the fact that that's all everyone fucking writes about is in fact literally bigotry. It's ableism. It's athiktomisia.
How are you all reading a book series with the theme of "respect people even if they're different from you" and immediately leaping to erase everything that makes Murderbot who it is so you can instead make it as much like you as you think you can get away with?
It'd be one thing if you were adding on additional traits that do not conflict with or erase its current character traits, like making it physically disabled, giving it other neurodivergencies, ect.
But no. All you people do is go, "oh? it's ace? Well not anymore!" "Oh, it's aro? Well not anymore!" "Oh, it doesn't want a relationship? Well not anymore!" "Oh, it has no desire for touch? Well not anymore!"
What's next? You're all gonna start insisting it totally loves making eye contact and loves showing off its face?

[ID: The "Is this a pigeon?" Meme, edited s that the person is labeled, "Assholes in the Murderbot fandom".
They are pointing at a butterfly that is labeled, "Murderbot, who is explicitly aroace, romance-repulsed, sex-repulsed, touch-repulsed, and also aplatonic".
They are asking, "Is this free shipping material? I'm going to erase every aspect of Murderbot's personality that gets in the way of shipping :) Because fuck aroace people and fuck touch-repulsed people :) :)".
End ID.]
Dear Murderbot fandom, especially the people who have decided to ship Murderbot with Gurathin and erase literally everything that makes Murderbot Murderbot because those traits get in the way of shipping:
Fuck you.
Aroace characters do not exist to be your shipping material. Especially not aroace characters like Murderbot who are explicitly romance, sex, and touch repulsed. And considering Murderbot's absolute revulsion to the word "relationship", no, you do not get to fucking pretend you're shipping it queerplatonically while you're also literally erasing its touch-repulsion to pretend it actually really enjoys being touched, it was just shy before -.-
Are you fuckers aware that touch-repulsed people actually fucking exist? That aroace people who literally want absolutely nothing to do with romance and sex and relationships of any kind literally fucking exist?
How the fuck do you people get handed a book series that as a fucking miracle actually treats touch-repulsed people with absolute respect, and then turn around and decide you're gonna fucking erase it anyways????
If you aren't aroace AND sex-repulsed AND romance-repulsed you have NO fucking business even thinking about shipping Murderbot with anyone, no, not even queerplatonically.
If you are not fucking touch-repulsed you have NO fucking business writing about Murderbot being touched.
I swear to fuck, people. These books actually do some things perfectly right, and you all still have to make asses of yourselves by erasing anything that doesn't lend itself perfectly to fucking shipping.
If you only care about shipping, then fucking pick literally any character besides Murderbot to write shipping shit about.
Leave Murderbot alone. Leaves aroace people alone. Leave romance and sex-repulsed people alone. Leave touch-repulsed people alone.
People like Murderbot have almost zero fucking representation. Murderbot is literally the FIRST character I have EVER seen with any of these qualities where any of them are treated with fucking respect instead of being treated like a joke used to torment them.
You do not fucking get to take that away or erase it just because you assholes can't interact with any media without shipping something.
If you erase Murderbot's aroaceness, it's sex and romance repulsion, its touch-replusion, its aplatonicism, you are amisic and ableist.
Literally fuck you.

[ID: Two versions of the same pride flag. The first is square shaped, the second is wider and shaped like a rectangle.
The flag has six horizontal stripes of, in order from top to bottom: light grey, gold, orange, red, black, and dark wine purple.
End ID.]
November 19th 2022. Here's a PDF, slightly shorter version of this post and HD versions of the flags on the web archive. Here's the archived version of this post.
For everyone else who never experiences the supposedly-universal experience of “touch starvation”, I am coining two terms.
_____
First I am coining the term "solitaremit", to describe people who are touch averse and do not ever experience touch starvation.
Solitaremit is a combination of "solitary" and "hermit" because it's easy to remember and straight to the point, and doesn't exist anywhere else on the internet yet, so it can't be mixed up with anything else.
Solitary + hermit – the Y and H = Solitaremit
Soll-ih-tair-eh-mit (or met, it doesn't really matter)
_____
I am also coining the term "gregariable" to describe people who do experience touch starvation.
Gregariable is a combination of "gregarious" and "sociable" for people who do experience touch starvation, whether or not they're touch amiable or averse. This word also does not yet exist on the internet, so it can't be confused for anything else.
Gregarious + sociable - the ous and soci = gregariable
greh-gair-ee-uh-bull
_____
Solitaremit works as an adjective the same way as touch averse/touch repulsed do. IE: "It is solitaremit, it doesn't like being touched and doesn't get touch starved" “they are solitaremit”
Same with gregariable. "They are gregariable, they get touch starved." "I am touch averse and gregariable, I don't like being touched, but I still get touch starved"
_____
Solitaremity would be used to describe the thing...I can't think of the grammar word.
Example:
"Most of the stress 'caused by' solitaremity is caused by gregariable people refusing to respect solitaremit people's boundaries or existence." “I am researching solitaremity for a story I'm writing so I won't be ableist by mistake.”
I have edited tags related to solitaremity into all my posts about touch aversion, so you should, in theory, be able to search my blog for this word right now on the day I'm posting this and find stuff.
I have no doubt these terms will be shortened / streamlined as time goes on. That's perfectly fine, this is just something to give us a fucking foundation to at least stand on.
_____
List of the new terms:
Solitaremit / solitaremity / solitaremisia
Gregariable / gregariality
Solitaremit: Someone who does not enjoy being touched, and never gets touch starved. EX: “Murderbot is solitaremit, it never wants to be touched. Solitaremit representation in fiction is very rare, and it's even rarer for it to be handled respectfully.”
Solitaremity: “Solitaremity is treated as something to be ashamed of, because gregariable people are more common, are self-entitled, and have no fucking compassion for others.”
Solitaremisia: Ableism directed specifically against solitaremit people.
Bigotry against touch-averse people in general is called athiktomisia.
Gregariable: Someone who gets touch starved / desires touch, whether or not they are touch averse and would actually enjoy the touch.
Gregariality: “Gregariality is treated as the universal experience, unfortunately for those who are solitaremit, who are shamed for being solitaremit from the moment they start expressing discomfort with touch.”
_____
What do the flag colors mean?
I picked colors commonly seen on poisonous/venemous animals to ward off attacks. Monarch butterflies and other insects that eat milkweed for the yellow, orange, red, and black, poison dart frogs for the purple, and cottonmouths specifically for the light grey.
_____
Can I use this pride flag for art?
Yes. I'm the one who made it, and I say it's public domain because fuck capitalism. Use it for literally anything you fucking want. Credit is not even necessary, though I will ask that, whenever possible, you include an image description, as well as sharing HD images of the flags with those who don't have them.
_____
Some suggested tags to use or look through are:
solitaremit
actuallysolitaremit
actually solitaremit
solitaremitiy
canonically solitaremit characters
solitaremit characters
solitaremit positivity
_____
Who can identify with these terms?
Gregariable: Literally anyone who experiences touch starvation.
Solitaremit: Anyone who is touch averse //and never// experiences touch starvation.
_____
This term is //specifically designed// to be //exclusive// to people who do not ever get touch starved, and never have any desire to be touched whatsoever, //specifically// so that we can have tags and other things to search without being overwhelmed by people who are touch starved talking about how touch starved they are.
Other terms can be created for people who only very rarely experience touch starvation or anything like that as a spectrum, but these terms should not include as a whole or as a part any part of the word solitaremit, so that crosstagging will not occur, even by accident.
Please just create an entirely brand new word that is unique, just as solitaremit is unique. I made sure these words didn't exist yet for a reason.
The entire point of the coining of these terms is so that solitaremit people can find posts by others with the same apparently impossibly rare experiences. Who fucking knows, maybe there's more of us than anyone things.
I am EXPLICITY requesting that people further down the line NOT to create a term like “solitaremitspec” or use “solitaremit spectrum” or anything like that using the word solitaremit for anything other than to describe someone who is touch averse and literally never experiences or has ever experienced touch starvation.
Touch aversion and touch repulsion are already spectrum. If you must coin a new term to describe a spectrum of touch averse experiences, do not include the word solitaremit in it. Please. That's literally all I ask.
I am not trying to be mean, I am trying to make sure the voices of people like me are not drowned out in the future as they are right now, when everyone, /including other touch averse people,/ whether intentionally or not, still push the idea that it is a completely universal fact that every single person ever born craves physical touch from other people, and is going to suffer if they don't get it.
If you experience touch starvation, then speak for yourself, and make sure you aren't drowning out the voices of those who don't.
Also, to reiterate from another post - the only requirement for being touch averse is not enjoying being touched. You do not need to be autistic, you do not need to be traumatized, there are no requirements for being touch averse except not enjoying being touched.
I will be tagging this post as "actually autistic" because a lot of autistic people are touch averse, but it is literally not a requirement for being touch averse.
Also, for the record, being touch averse is 100% a disability. There are so many things touch averse people can't do or can't do without suffering that other people do not even think twice about.
TLDR:
Solitaremit describes people who are touch averse and have never experienced touch starvation.
Gregariable describes people who do experience touch starvation.
(Everyone is welcome to reblog this post.)

anyways new word because "ableism" is too broad.
July 21st, 2022, for posterity.
athiktomisia:
A term for the bigotry perpetuated against people who are touch-averse.
From the Greek word athikto, which according to google translate means, "intact, untouched, untouchable, unscathed, intangible, inviolate" ect. There does not seem to be a direct translation for the word "untouchable" so close e-fucking-nough.
So yeah.
Bigotry against people who are touch-averse is ableism broadly, and more specifically can be called athiktomisia.
Please use "athiktomisia" rather than "athiktophobia", because treating phobias like they're bigotry is ableist.
Have at it.
I'll be retroactively editing any relevant posts to use this term so they're more specific, so don't be confused if you see it appearing in posts made before this one.
Please consider signal boosting even if you aren't touch-averse :)
