henry dislikes the sound of silence or the sound of a clock ticking NO i will not elaborate more on this

back at it again with the banger headcanons i see

imagine young henry sitting in detention. he already hates school because his reserved demeanour, quirky personality, and (likely undiagnosed at the time) selective mutism makes him an ideal target for bullying, but in class the teachers are unsympathetic to any struggles he has focusing and speaking.

so he already hates that stupid clock tick tick ticking away in class but at least there’s still other noise in the form of pencils and flipping pages and the teacher’s voice. when he’s kept back for “fighting” with other students (it’s usually self defence and the only way he’s learnt to protect himself and his belongings because it’s not like the adults are any help, but of course nobody ever takes the side of the “dumb” kid, why would they when he can’t even bother to speak up for himself /s) or for not following instructions/paying attention, it’s another hour or so of him alone in a room having to sit still and do nothing.

eventually he starts “escaping” which only lands him in more trouble, which derails his academic experience further and instills a lot of learned behaviour that sticks with him and influences his adult years.

like buying a TV and leaving it playing even when rent is due and bills are late and cable could be considered a frivolous expenditure. he justifies it to himself as the news being useful to him for heist ideas - which it is - but that’s still a half truth of him being in denial that being cooped up in a silent apartment with nothing but his thoughts as his life continues to fall apart might be too much even for him

or how whenever he’s arrested or otherwise detained somewhere against his will, his only goal is getting out. sitting in a small room, expected to do nothing, with no sounds other than a clock ticking...he just CAN’T
