I don't usually talk about Splatoon here but... I just got custom hydra to 5 stars! I'm proud of that! I'm a splatling main if you can't tell!!!

Hydra is too powerful, I just beat my splat record by 5 and I've been using it for like 2 weeks.

was briefly possessed to draw some wembley art again, featuring hastily redesigned freight! notes under cut

i tried to keep the futuristic vibe and make their designs more individualized. i also kept with slade's design prompt—no train resemblance, and little/no napier design language

why is lumber green? because trees are green and he's into sustainable logging. i was aiming for a casual park ranger/forestry outfit. he wears his suspenders properly when he's working, but they're otherwise down. he has climbing gaffs (insp by @/honey-dont) and wears high top skates w/ the tongue down for ankle mobility

porter is a woman because when i first heard of her i thought she'd be female. so my version of porter has transitioned (she/her)! i intended her outfit to suggest welder or mechanic. she has lots of minor burn scars! she also wears low-cut derby skates because she likes to be FAST. she zips up her jumpsuit when working

slick is relatively unchanged because i think the bulky athletic costume fits her quite well. it's slightly modified to more resemble a hazmat suit or oil rig uniform. she & hydra are both tankers, so they share some outfit similarities

hydra is blue because 1) they swapped colors w/ lumber, and 2) they're a cryogenic tanker, and cryogenic aprons are blue. also blue just works better because he's cold. he has the tail for balance and because he thinks it looks cool. they're hi-vis because they want to show off, and for safety, because you would NOT want to crash into a hydrogen tanker. also he's nonbinary (they/he)

thank you stex artists & writers discord because thats where i got the idea for green lumber & blue hydra from!!!! it is genius!

also idk if they still have their backpacks. probably only when they're working?

sometimes you see a single image on the internet and that changes your plans for the rest of the week

seahorse is made from lps #426 that i had horribly defaced with sharpie in a customization attempt when i was young (you can see the red ink refusing to give up relevance in the fins especially lol) and this rarity eqg mini

cat is from the lps mcdonalds series that i had managed to chip off its base and use as a normal pet and oh my god was this thing a bitch to get the head off of. that plastic does not cut easy let me tell you. also this blythe (all those accessories are long gone)

dog is lps 883 and oh god im gonna kill someone i forgot to double check which eye shapes she had. i sketched her with the clover ones but was looking at pictures and saw mostly the single dot ones and second guessed myself without actually looking at the damn doll. pretend i drew them right. her body is this flutteryshy and her clothes from this blythe. im planning to use the eqg heads for another project

and finally the dragonfly is #715 that i had broken the wings for a loooong time ago and we would use it as a cricket instead. kinda fucked up. her body is another lps blyth with arms harvested from yet another lps blythe and i dont like to be wasteful so heres a manner of beast

black Splatoon players 🤝 disabled Splatoon players for dealing with a lot of oppression from the fandom and their issues being minimized by the fandom, people claiming it’s “just drama”

(I’m autistic and some of the things I saw people say about the Splattercolor Screen incident were really, really upsetting. I’ve dealt with a LOT of ableism and discrimination my whole life due to being autistic, and people mocking disabled people for wanting to not risk a seizure was just awful.)

and it’s especially fun to deal with when you’re both Black AND disabled!!! been a big week for me innit

As said yesterday, I am late with the news due to needing to run some errands in the morning, but nevertheless here they are, starting with the last two kits of Sizzle Season 2024:

The Custom Douser Dualies FF come with Burst Bomb and Triple Inkstrike. Use the bombs to complement your damage in long-range mode or to trap enemies as you go for the kill in short-range mode, while the Triple Inkstrike can be used comfortably from the positions the long-range mode likes to take, but can also be used to hide your approach before you dodge roll to take your enemies by surprise.

The Custom Hydra Splatling has Ink Mine and Splattercolor Screen. Set up the Mines to fortify your position, and use the Screen to cut off approach options for the other team and corral them into your preferred sightlines. You can also toss the Screen at your feet and peek in and out of it with partial charges using all that Run Speed that Splatling players love to stack.

(Also, please note that the official English Splatoon twitter account incorrectly reported the Hydra's Sub as Point Sensor. Assuming SplatoonJP is correct, then it's Ink Mines, and they likely are because they posted a different correction to the post later, but didn't say anything about the Sub weapon.)

But that's not all, because we're also reporting that fan favourite band SashiMori, famous for foregoing a vocalist in the favor of sampling voice clips from ancient audio recordings, is back! In the six years since the events of Splatoon 2 their child prodigy DJ Paul has gone through quite the growth spurt, but his musical sensibilities remain as excellent as ever. MH - Peri and Pearl Serpentine CC

Here is Peri and Pearl Serpentine from Monster High's Great Scarrier Reef. I think this was everyone's favorite Sea Creature character from Great Scarrier Reef.

This one was kinda confusing to make, and though I wish Pearl's head could make expressions and move but it's very limiting in terms of customizing her.
