oh it goin DOWN on twitter
sorry for mobhundred discourse and also making this a little about me. #testimonials.
I've been staying out of it because of overlapping circles & callout posts being incendiary but I always disliked SC in a "this person is unlikable" way, didn't do anything but be self-righteous and overly sensitive. like
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'd DM my friend shit she says with her name cropped out to go "LOL", making sure not to name her because no one should be put on blast for being annoying. But "that includes telling someone to explode" is objectively funny as fuck
overall I interpreted all the sketchy stuff in the fic as like general incompetence? And stopped reading. Seeing the shit she did/wrote like the week after I cooled off from MP100 feels like an atom bomb going off behind my head like she HUH?>????
I don't actually think "neutral on proship discourse" should be a warning sign, it's well-known that discourse is meaningless namecalling. It can be necessary to state your allegiances in specifically MP100 fandom because it attracts like a SHOCKING amount of people really weird about 13-year-olds, though. Disproportionate to any other fandom I've ever been. Something in the goddamn water in that fandom stg its EVIL out there.
Anyway I think an obsessive fixation on pedophilia was the actual warning sign. The fic is constantly full of these whiplash interjects like a fixative "wow, sure hope no one thinks I'm a creep, kind of creepy lol" circling. This kind of uncharacteristic fixation is what She Doth Protest Too Much really looks like.
I don't have much in the way in personal stories because I just gave them space. Uhhh I ended up in a discord server where she was friends with just about every frequent poster and popular artist in there. I found her behaviour to be kind of argumentative, but never escalating. So I was like okay, I was being uncharitable, it's just that she's sensitive. Just because I don't like her doesn't mean I gotta be rude. She unblocked me (I was blocked for saying proship electric chair as a joke) and I so I tried to be supportive and sociable by getting into her fic for a while. And now people are posting the most singularly insane quotes I've ever seen from right after where I dropped off. Holy mary mother of god.
And ok. Not to be presumptuous. but her friend SpCh is a notorious flying monkey to the point when I made a thread about how people in the west don't really bother researching other cultures and basic aspects of other countries, assuming they know everything, and SpCh misinterpreted the entire thread so badly I can only assume she was defending SC's honour based on 1 tweet. GIRL I WAS TALKING ABOUT SCUM VILLAIN FANFIC. IF A HIT DOG HOLLERS?

No more small talk posts until we have come to a consensus on what small talk actually is 🤨
I've seen at least three separate posts on this very website that asserted small talk was actually fun (as if this were a controversial opinion that needed defending), then gave an example, and every time the notes were full of people saying, "That's not small talk though."
So what is it then
The most enlightening comment I ever saw on one such post, btw, was something along the lines of "Most of you don't hate small talk, you just hate being interrogated by authority figures." I'm not saying this explains the entire discourse or anything, just that I personally found it enlightening.
But consider this: asking someone for directions is clearly not small talk. You're not trying to socialise, you just need information.
Some people define small talk as any conversation that is not "deep" and completely forget that it is possible to converse on a vast number of subjects for the purpose of exchanging information without ever getting philosophical or personal.
Others define small talk as a specific set of rigid rituals where you need to know the "correct" answers to all of the potential questions. You can see how someone like that would be confused by the assertion that joking around could be small talk.
Some say the defining feature is the speaker's intention: are you asking this question because you really want to know the answer or because you're trying to signal that you're friendly? I think especially among autistic people, there is this huge misconception running rampant that the asker is never actually interested and it's all a pointless dance.
Some would say that talking about the weather is always small talk. But personally I need to be quite comfortable around someone before I'll start making inane remarks about the weather; it is not an attempt to bond with the person, but rather it just pops into my head and if I feel safe around you it'll come out. It would never occur to me to bother a stranger or new acquaintance with something so unimportant.
Is it small talk to chat about work while you're doing it? What if one of the participants is only in it for the purpose of gathering and sharing information? Does this change if it's a hobby project you're collaborating on rather than work?
And to get back to the comment about authority figures for a moment: can "small talk" with a huge power imbalance between the participants even be considered the same thing as small talk between peers? These are usually (but not always) done for vastly different purposes as well. "Interrogation" describes one of them (with a milder, kinder form being "evaluation" or "assessment"), whereas among peers the main purpose is usually to signal that you're interested in getting to know each other better - or, if you're at work, that you would like to maintain a friendly workplace atmosphere.
Now imagine a conversation between someone who has little to no experience with voluntary small talk, but ample experience with the "interrogation" sort, and someone who last experienced the "interrogation" sort as a minor but is now 25 and frequently engaging in voluntary small talk with peers. Of course they're not going to use the term to mean the same thing. How could they??
Personally, I'm inclined to say that small talk is conversation made for the purpose of establishing/maintaining friendly relations or the appearance thereof (let's not forget about those power imbalances - and people who are simply not being sincere). The key is that even though it's quite common to mostly ask questions with genuine interest behind them, the exchange of information is not your main motive. You want to achieve an effect that is unrelated to what exactly you're saying; maybe to establish a certain atmosphere or to signal interest and to analyse the vibes you get back from the other person.
I'm open to suggestions on further refinement of my definition, but my point in writing this post is not to seek out the ultimate definition of small talk but to demonstrate that NO ONE HERE IS EVEN TALKING ABOUT THE SAME THING OH MY GODS WHY ARE YOU ARGUING.

Mood 2016-present day
Season 7
Can antis shut the fuck up about being queerbaited and shit? Like no, you fucking weren’t. K//nce was never meant to happen, LM and JDS both stated that they would not go back and change the story to make K//ce happen. And if you feel ‘queerbaited’ or whatever and was “aware that you were being queerbaited’ why did you still watch it? Why are you still here? You are obviously not getting what you are expecting from the show.
Also about the Adam death, that does not erase the fact that Shiro is still gay. Shiro can be gay whether or not Adam is alive or dead. It was still known that Shiro was formerly in a relationship with a man. Who knows? Maybe I’m wrong and it was bad writing to kill him off but you guys got too attached to an obviously minor character.

I did a poll the other day about this from the [Jewish] Zionist perspective; I'm now curious about the Jewish anti-Zionist perspective.
To answer this poll, you MUST identify as BOTH Jewish and anti-Zionist. Jewish non-Zionists, post-Zionists, refusetoidentifyniks, other assorted folks, and goyim of any political persuasion, please just choose the see results button. Thanks!!
Also: This poll is meant for genuine listening, learning, and seeing the true thoughts of other Jews. I stg if I see anyone attacking any people nice enough to respond to this poll and give serious explanations for their answers, like folks did on the original poll?
I will find you.
If you don't like it, keep scrolling. Thank you!!
Edit: Please do reblog for reach regardless of your background or views; I'd appreciate it!

A conversation I've recently seen on tumblr that I think is worth mentioning in the context of the latest Buck&Eddie fight:
Abusers usually don't become abusers on purpose. They don't act on the thought of "how can I be evil towards my loved ones today?" They're not always consciously aware of their manipulation tactics. They do still love the people they hurt.
For example I don't think Eddie thought "I can use my son to emotionally manipulate my best friend", but he knew that having Christopher around would make Buck calmer and happy, maybe even thankful towards Eddie for making this reunion possible. That's why he flew Chris in on short notice - to make Buck feel better. But this way he also conveniently avoided having to confront his own actions and apologise, leaving Buck as the only one who accepts blame.
I don't think he meant to scare Buck by getting physical either, Eddie was just expressing his anger - but it still put Buck in a position where he probably was scared of Eddie physically hurting him. It was at least a possibility.
And Eddie constantly telling Buck to stop whining about his own hurt feelings and think about Eddie instead probably wasn't meant as anything but a cry for help, a "I'm here too! I'm hurting too!", but the message Eddie is sending here is "my feelings are more important than yours and you should prioritise accordingly".
Eddie never apologising for anything and waiting for Buck to apologise instead probably just comes from a place of insecurity and wounded pride, but it sends the message that Buck is always wrong and Eddie is always right or has nothing to apologise for.
Eddie talking positively about Buck and showing concern for his emotional well being around mutual friends in Buck's absence, but yelling at him in private wasn't planned, but it gives outsiders a distorted image of what the friendship actually looks like. Worse, if Buck at any point later goes to Hen and Karen to talk about Eddie's behaviour they will remember how Eddie was worried. They will take Buck's words with a grain of salt because Eddie has established himself as a caring friend in their eyes. Which wasn't Eddie's intent at all, he does care about Buck and impulsively blew up at him later.
But intent doesn't change the outcome. I know Eddie is going through it. I know he has trauma and grief and that Buck isn't perfect. But he's presenting a long list of bright red flags that are text book examples of emotional abuse and it has become a pattern that started at least 5 years ago with the lawsuit arc.

Not one to discourse usually but I think this deserves some attention.

Beg your pardon? You're letting AI write fic? And boasting about it? Fuck off. There are many people on this site that put hundreds and thousands of hours into writing fic. They pour their souls into it, and they do it FOR FREE!!! Get absolutely fucked. I don't care how much you want to see x ship in x situation, request it from a fic author you like or write it your damn self. AI ruins art and writing and completely discredits all the work of the artists and writers out there. This is not something to be proud of and I sincerely hope "your fic" flops like fuck. This is not it.

ahem [*aims bazooka at the hornet nest*] the way anti tommy fics characterise Tommy is the way that canon Eddie has been treating Buck this season [*pulls the trigger*]
(more nuanced: obviously not referring to the DV or SA, but the whiplashing hot/cold, the casual cruelty, the "Buck's only useful when he's usable" attitude, that's all canon Eddie in s8. and to add to the irony, the way they characterise fanon eddie in these fics? that's canon tommy.)
.
.
.
.
(obviously given the state of this fandom right now I'm 100% not expecting this to get posted, I just felt the Urge to say it after seeing your post about the bucktommy tag on ao3 because yeah, it's fucking atrocious but it's only going to give bucktommy better ratings in the yearly wrap so who's really winning here)
Ooooooo, ok, I'm gonna gently grab your hand (with consent) and we're gonna walk together through this one because I'm bravely posting it.🤣
So, I've said before that I think their fanon Eddie is basically canon Tommy. Gay. Repressed by comphet. Failed relationships with women because he was too scared to admit who he really is. And, how they think Eddie would treat Buck in a romantic relationship are all ways in which Tommy has actually been shown to.
I think the only buddie fics I've ever read were from my partner in crime, and I purposefully don't click on any 'Tommy Kinard Bashing' fics (which, as an aside, relies on the author to have the common decency to at least tag correctly. More on that later) but in the particular case that spurred my original post, I just clicked on the comments because I wanted to see if there were any fellow buddies calling them out, which, yes, I have seen before on other fics. Things along the lines of "I'm a buddie fan too, but not like this."
Now, on to the fics themselves and not just how they're tagged. Fics like that, and like the 'anonymous hidden csa' fics that were being thrown in our tag...someone had to sit down and write that.
Like, I'm not trying to tell people what to write, and so this rant is more so just a me thing, but I honestly never did understand how someone could...even stomach that.
To write a (completely OOC) Tommy bashing fic where he's the most vile of the vile, or a csa fic with the intention of disguising what it really is in the hopes that we'll read it and be triggered...first someone has to sit there and bring the words into their brain. They had to make those words appear on a screen. And then, they had to post it to ao3, knowing full well what they are doing and that they are forcing it onto a collection of people that do not even want to know that it exists in the first place. Like. It just boggles my mind how someone could do that. I'd never be able to write the first sentence, let alone do all the rest of it.
I know I got sidetracked some from your original ask, but I do also agree that the way Eddie has been treating Buck this season is just...not it.
During season 7 hiatus, I wanna say shortly after we got bi Buck, I went back and rewatched the entire series again. I've watched live since day one, but was never really in the habit of watching an episode again once it had aired or sitting there and dissecting it once I pushed the 'off' button on the remote.
And let's just say, this time around, I really saw just how one sided that "friendship" is, and just how little "evidence" or "chemistry" there is pointing to buddie. All that just got turned up to 11 this season, and I truly do not comprehend how anyone could think "buddie canon" has "never been closer."
Mandatory PSA time: this isn't about chill multishippers or chill buddie shippers even. I know and talk to some and they're great. If you've never done any of the things above, then this ain't about you.

"But published books don't give you trigger warnings!"
Which is objectively worse because you are spending actual money. Its not a flex. Even movie showings give you pre-warnings of film content in the opening screen.
Nobody is holding a gun to your head and making you tag things or include trigger warnings, but you also can't complain or harass the people who stop reading your content or won't read it at all because you refuse to give them any insight into what they're about to read.

Okay, so you want to talk about the basketball scene? Let’s do that.
A couple of guys regularly meet for pickup basketball games. Buck has always declined invitations in the past and finally joined. It’s a pickup game, though. NBA rules are the last thing those guys are following. They’ve probably put down some ground rules. But more likely, they’ll assume everyone knows how to keep the game mostly friendly.
Because that’s the thing about pickup games of any sport. It’s not the kind of competition you find in a professional league or even in a semi-professional league like school leagues. It’s mostly about having fun, but it’s also about egging each other on, about riling each other up to such a degree that most people who meet for these kinds of games go around saying things like “just a friendly game, the ‘friendly’ being optional”.
They play hard and fast with the rules, and we saw them egg each other on repeatedly during the scene. It was pretty clear where the whole scene was leading from the very beginning. Because the thing about these kinds of pickup games, no matter what game, is that the amateurs playing will always get injuries that professionals wouldn’t get so easily. Because of the general disregard for rules, but also because the amateurs don’t have the training for the game and might just take a wrong move, or don’t know how to fall, or aren’t able to contemplate the consequences of body checking the other player, especially in the heat of the game.
Everyone who joins in that kind of game knows exactly that they’re risking injuries. Not even just because the guys they’re playing with might get callous in their fouls, but just because they might make a wrong step, or they might be really unlucky in catching the ball.
Eddie had to go to the hospital. That’s true so far.
Remember, we are watching a show about firefighters? The kind of job where having even so much a sprained ankle means you aren’t fit for duty. Because working with a limp while responding to a fire will slow you down in a situation where you can’t afford that. It might mean you aren’t even able to handle carrying all the required equipment in the first place. Working with a limp at the scene of a car accident or something similar, where you have to work with heavy equipment and sometimes have to rely on your strength alone.
Of course Eddie would go to see a doctor for such a fall to make sure he was fit for duty. He can’t just show up with a limp to his next shift and walk it off.
The next day we see Eddie on shift. (How do we know it’s the next day? Pickup basketball games are every other Thursday. Buck and Tommy’s first date was Saturday. The shift with the guy who had no control over his hand was between those two events.) And he isn’t even limping. Based on that, I dare say his ankle wasn’t even sprained and the whole hospital thing was nothing but being overcautious. Because that’s what canon tells us with that.
And with that, I have to say: Everyone claiming Buck broke Eddie’s ankle invalidates their whole argument right away. If you have to make the injury worse to make your argument work, you clearly know you’re full of bullshit.
Let’s take a look at the aftermath.
After Eddie falls because of Buck’s body check, Buck immediately looks and acts in a way that shows he is feeling guilty. Chimney calls him out on his behavior at the same moment. We then get a whole scene of Buck talking through that moment and how he feels about it with Maddie.
We don’t see an on screen apology, that’s true. But we get shown at great length that Buck’s behavior was not okay, that he feels guilty about it, and that the people around him call him out for the behavior. The episode then ends with the strong suggestion that Buck will call Eddie to apologize.
You know when we haven’t seen people feeling even slightly remorseful or are so much as talking about an apology?
All three times someone got physical with Buck in an argument.
Bobby never apologized or felt remorseful as far as we see. We never saw any follow-up for that scene. We don’t even see any kind of reaction in Hen, who watches the whole thing calmly as if nothing strange is going on.
Chimney went on a whole rant about killing Buck and bringing him back to life weeks later. So his off-hand comment much, much later to Hen that he talked it out with Buck and apologized feels suspicious at best, and unbelievable at worst.
Eddie claimed “someone” was mean to Buck, skillfully avoiding admitting any fault of his own. And then shoved two people at Buck he knew Buck would be so happy to see he’d forget what a jerk Eddie was both during the argument and then with the very misleading note in the morning and telling Buck it was his fault for misunderstanding that note.
Somehow, it’s always only Buck who is haunted by it, even seasons later, when he makes a mistake or people even just perceive Buck as the one who made a mistake (e.g. Dr. Wells being brought up as a joke). And people wonder why so many people feel with Buck and argue about his bad decisions less than other characters.

IMPORTANT QSMP DISC0RSE PLEASE READ ‼️‼️‼️‼️
Okay, for those who don't know, the last two days (even tho we have been complain for months) have been absolute hell for the Brazilian community, to the point that a lot of us are agreeing to drop the community as a whole, saying we will only watch our favorite Brazilian streams and that's it; we no longer want to interact or be a part of this server
The Brazilian QSMP Twitter community has been complaining about the fact that the Carnaval event, something that's ours and our creators were excited to share with the rest of the world, wouldn't have our creators be a part of it because of the time. We were complaining because we absolutely have the right to, since, as I said before, it's our culture, the most significant event in our country.
Because of that, a lot of international fans, and it hurts to say this, Latino ones, decided to make mass hate xenophobic tweets about us and our creators. Tweets that vary from saying we should be thankful Quackity invited us because no one knew about the Brazilian streamers (when actually the reality is we have about 8 Brazilian streamers as the most-watched streamers in LATAM) to saying Cellbit, Mike, or Pac should kill themselves, and finally, to bringing back the past relationship Cellbit had with his ex-girlfriend.
Because people who had no idea of the story caused a massive hate towards Cellbit and his girlfriend. So his ex-girlfriend used this opportunity to accuse him of a crime and later deleted the tweet, but the damage had already been done.
So international fans decided to use that as a way to be xenophobic towards us, calling us monkeys and many other racist things, plus mass reporting Cellbit to the point where he had to issue a response. I'll leave the English and Spanish translations here because it's something you all need to read, and beware because of the trigger warning.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The point is, we Brazilians are tired of this community. It no longer feels safe for us. It no longer feels fun for us, and it's absolutely ridiculous that a server that was created upon meeting and embracing new cultures would be so hurtful to us. And it hurts us a lot more, seeing as most of the hate is coming from Latinos themselves (especially toxic fans from quackity's community). French people have been the ones to defend us constantly, when our own neighbors have been nothing but racists to us.
I hope Quackity does something about this because we have been complaining for months, but he continues to be quiet about it, doesn't call out his fans, and pretends nothing is happening we will drop out of this server, even cc's commented how exhausting it is for us. This project was supposed to bring people together, but so far, we have been dealing with a lot of xenophobia, and we are tired.
I know this is more of a Twitter problem since everyone here is chill (even tho i have already seen some xenophobia in here), but I just wanted to fill you guys in on the news. And for those who watch Cellbit, we don't know when the next stream will be since he was just forced to talk about his sexuality and abuse. Please shower him with a lot of love and positive messages. For you guys to have any idea, he's trending #1 in Brazil, and even though the entire country used to hate him because of his ex-girlfriend's lies, everyone is apologizing and saying he's an incredible person.

genuinely i think alot of kaboodle's actions on lifesteal can be explained by her scripted lore background. the world of scripted lore is fraught with the idea that "lore" is just... being miserable. it was something that made it difficult for me to get into ksmp (though i did eventually enjoy it), because it felt just so awful all the time. pointless arguments didn't tug at my heartstrings, it made me frustrated. but that's besides the point
i think maybe one of the reasons she takes everything way harder than she should and exaggerates relationships and disagreements is perhaps because she is drawing in past experience to be a good entertainer, in the way she is familiar with. which is so fair! we are formed by our backgrounds. it does unfortunately make it difficult to watch her if you're accustomed to the more ""live action"" sort of format lifesteal is usually in, where people seperate their characters from themselves a little less. but she has a good size audience that seems to fw it, so i dunno
that's just my take on the overuse of the word "betrayal" and such
agree but disagree. yes scripted is usually just being miserable but zam is just miserable all the time and his lore actually makes sense and is very entertaining to watch and he also separates himself from his character (to a degree). but when he is miserable he is consistently miserable while also doing some fun things to distract from the misery or making some impact on the server like cleaning up spawn while being miserable to chat. kab just sits around and talks and does fuck all. sorry. hating. a lot of hating below.
and it's annoying because she is miserable but then will go be fighting her inner demons of destruction, but then won't destroy because she doesn't want to be mean and she cares so much, but then she plans to destroy anyway but then she doesn't do it and doesn't have any consistency in any motivation or characterization and she's all over the place. every hour her emotional state is different and there's absolutely no effort at a throughline and everything before is just thrown out the window.
And it pisses me off that she does come from scripting because surely her characters on ksmp had some throughline and consistency.
and yet her inconsistency on ls does make sense bc in scripted you can plan and succeed with every plan you make when you are literally scripting the outcome.
but on lifesteal you can plan for something cool and fun and it can be taken away in an instant by the very same people you were trying to impress and that is hard and will send anyone into being tilted.
and trying to decide how to react to that is wildly difficult and i dont really envy them having to figure out what to do, but i do wish she would DO something. but that's also unfair because she is doing something, she's rebuilding. but while rebuilding she's going between wanting 4c to help her while also trying to convince him to betray his team while also trying to convince him to give her a heart without a fight while also planning to kill him while also reminding herself she has to be nice to him. so she's just using him. just say it with your full chest. you never cared about him and you just want someone else to do the work to get your own selfish self-pity plan back on the server.
you want to complain and then have someone swoop in and save you. and you dont want to make any effort to actually care about that person.
it's miserably sad and annoying to watch because lifesteal is about caring about people, and she goes on and on an on about caring *so much* but she doesn't give a shit about anyone but herself. and she lies to herself and and chat and insists that she cares.
and yes that's a rather consistent characterization to through at ls!kab but damn if it doesn't read like that at all and she went from genuinely apologizing to 4c to just using him flat out and reminding herself that she needs to use him and cant just kill him.
maybe its just that she's vilely unlikable. maybe that's the point in her scripted mind. make a hatable character. and yet her actions also speak to desperately trying to make a likable character whom youre sympathetic to, she tries desperately to guilt trip and pull at the heartstings about how shes just been betrayed so many times and life is so hard for her and shes so weak and how could you be mean to someone so pathetic and wounded.
but she's not likable at all. she doesnt care about a single other soul or what they care about. the second they put a boundary up she wants to run and leave, which, fair enough, actually a cool characterization of trauma but like also so abusive-coded. but in the end she chose to not abandon bacon as far as we can tell, but i can tell you give it two seconds and that thought will come back and she'll decide to betray him anyway. because nothing is consistent and nothing she says has any long term value. she just goes on the past five minutes to decide what she will do.
she's just so fake and that fakeness can be attributed to the character, but it only feels even more fake because she insists it's a character and not her as she turns around and does something that makes more sense for her to do as herself than the character. she is being two people existing on the same account, swapping out whenever necessary. but that's stupid. take responsibility for your actions and your emotions. stop blaming others.
and yes. it all goes back to how painfully different scripted mcrp is from unscripted.
and i know for damn sure that this will not be like this next season because she will learn from this season. or she doesn't. and that's what's so frustrating. the possibility that she never learns why lifesteal is lifesteal.
the possibility that she keeps writing asshole abusive characters that just get more abusive because of her own internal mental problems that lay unresolved and shoved under the rug like they aren't part of the character even though they are part of herself. she refuses to look at herself and acts like if just just acts hard enough they won't affect anything. they effect everything. you can't run from yourself when you are making unscripted content.
and yes. i am being really mean about someone who clearly has a lot of baggage. yes i am being mean about someone who is abusive as a defense mechanism and hates boundaries because of fear of being alone and all these things that are basically the bully being bullied at home type beat.
but she embraces none of it. doesn't even see any of it. thinks she has written a cute story with kazam, a cute ship that may be a little messed up but is at it's core cute.
it's fucking abusive and shit. it makes my skin crawl. zam is screaming to be let out of it and she thinks it's sunshine and roses. she is, to use the word literally, delusional about her actions. she thinks they are one thing when they are anything besides that.
but we do have one success story. and the trend goes that every lifestealer learns what lifesteal is by their second or third season. they all eventually get it. vi chose to do a very distinct character vs streamer in s4 and he crashed and burned to a degree unfathomable. and he learned from it. and he now says that was his favorite story he ever told. he see's how he's grown as a person because of it.
there is only hope in the future when it comes to kaboodle. lifesteal genuinely changes you and makes you grow. not because you choose to grow, but because it forces it out of you.
but in this moment im just constantly a ball of rage and constantly sent into sadness every time i watch. and she keeps interacting with my mains so im not going to just miss the story, and the progression is already happening, the kablantis shock is a genuinely lifesteal trauma moment for kab and is already changing her in good ways. this is the story, this is part of watching lifesteal. the meta conflict is what makes this server painfully unique. this difficult encounter with players that piss you off. because people in life are like this. people can suck and hurt each other and don't look at their internal mental state, they shove things under the rug and think they're fine and cause sorrow and pain when life gets difficult. that's life. encountering it as story really helps understand the people around you. to be more compassionate, be able to see when theyre hurting and chose to be kind anyway. to learn how to feel the negative emotions and process them and not run from them yourself. or learn how to stick up for yourself and put up your own boundaries and learn that you can. to figure out who you are. it's the best. and the worst. and leaves me hating until i realize it is interesting even though i hate it.

i think the thing that i’m struggling with about the whole situation — beyond the fact it’s a shitty thing to do without warning your scene partner — is that they are not the only two people in that room.
even if OS is okay with it (which… sure) you have no way of knowing what’s in the people around you’s past.
i don’t work in film/tv - i know nothing about it so maybe this isn’t unusual but personally - even tho i would know they’re both playing pretend - i would have been uncomfortable watching that play out without warning.
and maybe im being overly sensitive but i really don’t think that should have been allowed to happen because it’s not just about the two of them

⚠️Why We Need Content Warnings for Toxic Fanfiction
(A post about fandom responsibility, especially regarding Dramione & Wolfstar)
It’s time the fanfiction community started seriously discussing content warnings for toxic dynamics in popular ships.
We warn for smut, violence, trauma — so why not for romanticizing abuse or emotional neglect?
Popular ships like Dramione and Wolfstar often normalize and glorify toxic relationships.
• Dramione puts a victim of racist bullying (Hermione) into a romance with her abuser (Draco) — often with no serious redemption arc or meaningful accountability.
• Wolfstar erases Sirius’s betrayal and neglect of Remus — like using his lycanthropy against him, trusting Pettigrew over him, thinking he was a traitor or not leaving him anything in his will although he knew Remus was struggling to get a job due to Umbridge's law.
And yet... these are seen as “tragic romances”? That’s not healthy representation — especially for teen readers still figuring out what love should look like.
Meanwhile, Gen Z fans slam Remadora (Remus/Tonks) for an age gap — even though Tonks was a grown woman, making her own choices, in a consensual relationship.
Yet those same fans idolize Sirius, the friend who repeatedly invalidated and hurt Remus?
That’s not representation. That’s hypocrisy.
This isn’t about policing ships.
It’s about responsibility.
If your story includes a toxic pairing, label it. If you're romanticizing canon betrayal and calling it love, at least warn readers first.
Because romanticizing unhealthy love teaches young fans:
That pain = passion
That neglect = romance
That manipulation = chemistry
Let’s do better. Let’s treat fanfiction like the powerful storytelling tool it is — with care, context, and honesty.

An annoying phenomenon I've noticed
Alternatively: Whatever you do, don't go onto the TDP reddit
(Alternatively, let people ship things)
