Guys. I looked up what the first year eurovision took place in.

1956 btw. switzerland won

and 1969 is actually a very interesting year, seeing as there were FOUR countries tied for first (UK, Spain, The Netherlands, France)

Both sweden and ireland have won seven times (though ireland did it first)

HELP WISSAM AND HER FAMILY FROM GAZA 🍉🍉

Could you imagine living in a situation where death is at every corner, bombs surround you. We live in a world where knowing you will be alive tomorrow is a privilege, and Wissam ( @wesam75 ) does not share that privilege living through the humiliation and degrading conditions of genocide. A genocide the world and media turns a blind eye to.

Wissam has lost everything, her story of pain and loss is devastating and beyond the comprehension of most. Please read her words, see her as a human being, and not a number, not a statistic;

" I am Wissam, married to Ibrahim, he is very sick and I am pregnant. I don't know how to describe to you the feeling of war, pain, suffering and destruction that we live here.

Just imagine that I lost my home and my job and lived through the destruction.We have been at war for a year or more. I live in a small tent in the cold and winter. My daughter needs health care, but I am alone and under these circumstances I cannot give her the most basic rights. We are now in a severe famine and cannot find any kind of food. She needs healthy food, but even that has become difficult to obtain due to exploitation and the lack of the most basic resources. Here in the tent we drowned due to the heavy rains. Surviving death is so difficult that they closed the crossing in front of us and now we cannot travel and we are still here in Gaza, the destruction. "

Imagine the pain of a parent in Gaza, who cannot protect their children from starvation, disease, sickness, injury and the bitter cold. Never complain about your life, because you are living someone else's dream. As I write this, 22% of the goal has been reached, and the last donation was 2 days ago. Donations are stagnant, and need to keep flowing.

They have raised less than €2,000. They have hardly raised enough to buy food in the Gaza Strip. If you could donate even the price of a coffee, or share with someone who has the means to help, you are directly participating in helping a Gazan family stay alive. In this day and age, helping people has never been easier yet people turn a blind eye and are hesitant. Don't be that person, be a light in the darkness for Wissam and her family.

Israel i Eurovision song contest

SVT pekar mot EBUs beslut och att en stor del av osannolikheten av Israels uteslutning är att en huvudsponsor för ESC är ett Israeliskt företag.

i malmö har det i nuläget(02/22) bestämts att frågan om Israel i Malmös eurovision skall tas upp i kommande lokala kommunmöten. Man kan som medborgare ta del av dessa möten. I nuläget är det endast vänsterpartiet av regeringspartierna som driver frågan, men man kan ta kontakt med kommunrepresentant för att själv framföra frågan och ämnet. Man kan även fysiskt vara med under möte

(Jag vill belysa att regeringen här menar på att “ett stort ansvar för den humanitära katastrofen i Gaza vilar på Hamas som styrt Gaza sedan 2007” och även följande: “Sverige är en stor kärnstödsgivare till flera av de humanitära aktörerna på plats." Regional eskalering måste undvikas

Med grund av dessa uttalanden som bl.a direkt beskyller Palestiner för de över 30.000 dödade av den Israeliska militären är det inte överranskande att medier i sverige genast är vinklade, till ingens överraskning. Den senaste artikeln jag råkade ha öppen för att göra den här posten har språket

“Sydafrikas regering har anklagat Israel för folkmordsliknande agerande mot Gazas befolkning”

 “kriget i Gaza, som inleddes efter Hamas blodiga attack i Israel den 7 oktober. EBU har sagt att Israels public servicebolag inte brutit mot några regler och kommer att få tävla.”

Inga ord om att ICJ dömde Israel för detta “folkmordsliknande” beteende, eller vad som skiljer folkmord från “folkmordslikt”, medans attacken gentemot Israel är rentutav "blodig". På denna nivå överlag ligger journalistiken i Sverige. 

Det är viktigt att vi som medborgare belyser att Sveriges regering inte bara är åskådare utan är medbrottslingar i Israels fortsatta utrotningsförsök mot det palestinska folket. Vi bör vara väl medvetna om propagandan som inte bara kommer utifrån, utan inom sverige, och bekämpa denna.

Random things I noticed while playing What Remains Of Edith Finch

There was a poster of the cannery that Lewis worked at on the boat.

2. Edith Jr wears what appears to be an engagement on a necklace. Whether this is her ring or her mothers is not mentioned.

3. At the start of the game, Milton's missing posters are EVERYWHERE. There is even a giant pile of them in a nearby lake.

4. The dragon slide that crushed and killed Sven is still outside.

5. As you walk toward the house, the music gets louder.

6. The swing that Calvin flew off decades ago is still looped around the branch.

7. There was a spare peep hole in the garage that didn't have any names or dates on it.

8. At multiple points throughout the game you can hear a train in the background, despite the fact that the train tracks are clearly destroyed.

9. There are multiple pots throughout the Finch house that looks like they have eyes.

10. One of the books the Finches possessed was 'King in Yellow', a book known for making anyone who read it insane.

11. The house sounds alive, or like there are people constantly moving around it.

12. Walters bedroom is painted with both ocean and train designs. One of the paintings is the old house that Odin tried to bring to America.

13. There are drag marks on the ground of Walters bedroom (most likely made when his drawers were taken out of his room.)

14. The entrance to the tunnels is hidden by a book called 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, a classic sci-fi story about a sea monster.

15. Molly's room is filled entirely with animal books.

16. There is a jelly fish on Molly's bed (possible connection to the monster??).

17. Molly has a chalkboard in her bedroom where she is a princess in an underwater castle and Sven is about to get attacked by a sea monster (slightly resembling the dragon slide).

18. As shark!Molly starts falling down the cliff, she passes a road where headlights are briefly scene.

19. When the monster gets back to Molly's room, the window that cat!Molly jumped through is still open.

20. There are still Christmas decorations in Molly's room.

21. The curse is 500 years old. That is a lot of dead people.

22. In Odin's viewfinder, it states "His [Odin's] daughter, Edie, is already dreaming of new Finch house" showing that even though her own father died not even a week ago, Edie has already moved on.

23. The house is filled head to toe with books about death, including two that Odin wrote.

24. Sven's shrine does not have a log painting like the rest of the family. His portrait is painted on a simple canvas.

25. Edie has a number of strange tapes in her room including one titled "conspiracy now".

Hey, y'all. Considering this is going into all the tags, some of you may have interacted with me on here, some of you may not, but regardless, I would appreciate your help.

I am in the process of writing my master's thesis, and I am doing a research on the topic. The topic being "The perception of Eurovision among young people-the music event in the context of entertainment and politics". Now, I very much know this is a very touchy topic right now. I also know many of you will be boycotting ESC this year, and this questionnaire is absolutely not here to discourage that. In fact, I am outright asking if you are boycotting ESC this year, because I think that's important for the research I'm doing.

Also, regarding the age, due to the ethical aspect, unfortunately only people who are 18+ can participate, as per my mentor's advice. Also please don't let "young people" discourage you from filling out the questionnaire, it was another recommendation I got due to the fact this website is primarily used by people 18-35, but if you are older, I'd still absolutely appreciate your input.

that anon talking about charlie not actually being masc is so real and it reminded me of how i wished so bad that charlie wore a suit of knights armor or something in the finale (maybe something like goldenhearts original armor when he was goldenloin in the nimona comic,) that she inherited from her dad before he fell, or that maybe carmine makes for her out of angelic weapons.

some of the others get fitting outfits that represents what they associate with throwing hands, (angel in that ugly ripped mafia suit, vaggie in an exterminator esc suit with her own twist, sir pent in a generals uniform, etc,) no fun battle outfit for nifty or husk and cherri just gets a weird ugly matching suit to angels, i wish she just got to kill angels in her addict fit but charlies is just a dress for no reason given. there's not even a little self aware joke about it, and i hardly noticed her wear it on a first watch, but it's such a lame and forced way to give pretty much the only gnc woman character in all of vivs work a gender conforming outfit.

maybe i could forgive it if it reflected how charlie is inexperienced with physical conflict/combat and only knows how to present herself as the princess of hell when she wants to feel/seem powerful, instead of as a fighter she needs to be here. maybe vaggie notices charlie getting ready in her room and charlie proudly shows off in the mirror how ready she is with her shield and crown and fireworks, gushing about them, accidentally setting them off inside, while vaggie just sighs and lovingly accepts it anyway, finding endearment in it as well reminding her the reason shes fighting for the hotel before a battle that could determine all of their fates..

but we dont have time for dumb scenes like that for the main character or her girlfriend. we OBVIOUSLY needed vox to talk and take up precious space in the finale between 10 separate characters at the hotel doing shit all at once within 22 minutes just to scream, "IM SO FUCKING HARD RN" and "FUK U HAHA THIS IS BETTER THEN SEX"

This ask took me to a better world and the last paragraph pulled me forcefully back into a much colder one. Good lord, I forgot just how cringe-worthy the dialogue in this show was.

What's your evidence that Joost Klein harassed Eden at ESC? I've only seen evidence of Joost being harassed by Israeli delegation. And he was an assholeish idiot at the press conference but he wasn't the worst. And can people pleaaase stop spreading the smear campaign the EBU put out about him. He made a rude gesture, that's it.

I'm gonna admit that if you saw the Dutch performer's behavior at the press conference, IDK how that doesn't constitute harassment? I mean, the part where he didn't like that the ESC organizers made him sit next to the Israeli singer, and he didn't want to be in the same frame with her, so he covered himself with the Dutch flag wasn't just being an asshole, he was publicly humiliating her, transmitting to everyone what a pariah she is, not based on anything she's said and done, but simply based on her nationality (and this little stunt was obviously going to attract attention, meaning he minded being photographed next to her, but he didn't mind being photographed covered up with the flag like that in the same frame with her, making it clear this wasn't him wanting to avoid political stuff).

In my book, that's bad enough, but then he added insult to injury. Eden was asked a disgusting question by a Polish journalist. He wanted to know whether she considered that she would be putting everyone else at ESC at risk (victim blaming much? Eden was the target of a violent mob besieging her hotel room, and turning her participation into an event requiring security. She didn't ask them to do this, she didn't force them to, she's a 20 year old girl, who has dreamt of representing her country at ESC for years, and when she finally gets to, she's being asked to carry the blame for the violence aimed at her due to her nationality... Imagine asking Ariana Grande after her Manchester Arena performance if she took into account that she was risking the lives of all of her fans, because an Islamist decided to use her event for a terrorist bombing that killed 22 young people, and would she never perform again, now that she was aware of the risk? No, that didn't happen, because it's a disgusting, victim blaming, terrorism-rewarding question). The panel host rightfully grasped that this was a political and harassing question, and told her she didn't have to answer it. Joost Klein then shouting at that, "Why not?" was harassment. He was piling up on the victim blaming, on top of showing zero empathy for a fellow performer targeted for her nationality, in a way he never would have agreed to be himself.

(I think that's last assessment is obvious since we now know he thought, even for a split second, that it was okay to threaten with fists a female camerawoman working for ESC, doing her job, filming the performers when they got off stage after their performances. This was done to the other performers as well, IDK what made Klein think his consent was needed in that moment, since to me it seems implied by agree to represent the Netherlands at ESC, but even if he had the right to refused being filmed, I have no idea what made him believe it was okay to use violent threats against an ESC employee).

I'd like to ask you where did you see "evidence" that Klein was harassed by the Israeli delegation? As far as I'm aware, there was only one vid trying to make that claim, and what was seen in that one, was an Israeli journalist (so, not a part of the performing team), working as a European correspondent (he also covered the war in Ukraine, to give you an idea of what that job entails, so he's a "respectable" journalist, not just a guy with a mic interviewing people for his ESC blog), called Dov Gil-Har (as far as I know, he's aligned with the left politically, so not exactly someone likely to be harassing people out of nationalistic sentiments), who was trying to ask Klein questions. Which... the last time I checked is his duty as a journalist. And Klein refused to answer Gil-Har's questions, which is his prerogative (though I do think it was pretty disgusting when some performers, like the Norwegian ones, refused to give interviews to any Israeli media outlets. Since it's based on nationality, it's once again hateful IMO), but then the Dutch team's manager (or whatever he was) really got in Gil-Har's face, and more than that, because I clearly heard Dov saying, "Don't touch me." Keep in mind, this was after Klein's shameful behavior at the press conference, and also after he missed a rehearsal that day, there were rumors circling around it somehow had something to do with Israel, so it is honestly the most natural thing for Gil-Har as a journalist, that he wanted to ask the Dutch team some questions. That should not have ended with him having to say, "Don't touch me," but to further misconstrue this as him harassing the Dutch team...!? WHAT?

It feels like another instance of DARVO, where the attacker/harasser/abuser shifts the fire away by reversing who was doing the harassment and who was being harassed. Everything we saw on camera was harassment of the Israelis, including even the media, while I've not seen one documentation on film of the Israelis harassing others. Plus, I heard the claim that the Israeli team was harassing everyone, yet we know that some performers didn't feel, act or express themselves that way.

Azula's assault on the Western Air Temple commences. She is confronted with some harsh realities. The Avatar is forced to make a choice.

This chapter marks a return to form for quite a few characters! There's a saying that many authors will write entire books around a few specific scenes. For me, this chapter contains one such moment. I'm sure you'll pick it out of the bunch!

Wind rushes past her face, pulling at her impossibly perfect hair, and threatens to give her a chill. And it would, if not for the inferno blazing within. It’s odd. Being so high in the sky feels liberating. A change. It’s as though nothing can stand in her way, certainly not treacherous former friends or soon-to-be ex-brothers. Honestly, she still can’t believe Mai would turn on her like that. What a farce of a friendship. Fury grows within her but quickly falls, forgotten at the sight before her. The distant clouds rise like mountains, towering into the sky, and it elicits a small wonder deep within. Could she simply explore the distant peaks? It wouldn’t be an appropriate use of her time, nor that of the crews aboard the ships, but interesting… No. She has a job to do. She will make an example of the escapees, and she will see to it that the Avatar is properly slain, and she will put her stupid brother in the ground. This time around, she won’t let a single one of them esc– Honey, don’t you think this is too much? Too far? The woman’s words float on the wind, painting a frown on Azula’s face as she concentrates, trying to ignore them. Why must these ethereal voices return to her at the most inopportune times? Not only must she fight her physical enemies but also the Agni-damned voices in her head. Whatever. She’ll deal with it. It isn’t like her to shy away from a challenge. After all, she considers Father’s decision to send her to the Boiling Rock a challenge, not a punishment. Father punishes people like Zuko, not her. He knows her potential. That explosive attempt to lightning bend was a fluke, nothing more. Anyone could see that. Obviously.  Holding her still-recovering seared hand in front of her, the cool wind drives needles into her flesh, almost making her flinch. She won’t let it impact her. She won’t let him down. She won’t let herself down. She is better than that. She looks back to the mountain-like clouds in the distance, smiles, and takes in a deep breath of cold air. She really could get used to traveling like this. She isn’t sure whether it's the lack of impeding anything or just being closer to Agni’s fire, but whatever it is, this elevated perspective on the world feels good. Who is she to have ever questioned the superiority of traveling through the air? She vows never to travel by inferior means like ocean-bound vessels again. A young man’s voice breaks her reveling. “Princess Azula, we are nearing the Western Air Temple. Are we to maintain formation?”

Glass Talsarin

A divination wizard with a Bird mouse familiar, Glass is a half elf half Assimar. She is based on the idea of female protagonists/ princesses in European fairy and folk stories. That kind of vague girl who comes across great magic or is more likely sold to it by her idiot father.

Glass’s story is that much like those tells, one day a Unicorn came into town and seeking out a companion asked Glass’s parents if they could take their young daughter, paying them handsomely in return. Of which they were most grateful to accept. So at 14 Glass become a traveling Companion to her chaotic wild fairy godmother esc unicorn. Of which at 22 said unicorn up and disappeared.

So Glass’s long term plot hook is that she’s still wanting to explore the world and learn about magic as much as she can, whilest also trying to hunt down the unicorn and get some sort of closer with her magically adoptive mom.

Glass may have been visually based on fairytales but her first name is Glass as a nod to the TYRPG Wizard class always being Glass Canon’s

Games Glass has been in so far have been, 1. A lost mines of phandelver game that ended quite poorly for her and 2. A doomsday one shot in an under water horror fantasy setting.

This is the first instalment of me making posts on all the Player Characters I played in TTRPG’s so far.
