For some reason Ive been thinking about the shipwar recently, specifically about this thing that I remember elriels saying a few months ago before I had everyone whos shipwar posts ended up in the anti-tags blocked. Apparently SJM said that she wanted to do something different for Elain in some interview and they were taking that to mean that she didnt want to do another mates-plotline and basically using that as confirmation for elriel. And I think thats interesting because it shows that there are people out there who think of her as a fated-mates writer, while I very much think of her as an angsty-edgy-shadowey-bad-boy-love-interest writer with the mates-stuff just being an additional thing that she likes.

Like, I dont know about the main character of throne of glass and her love interest (although Ive heard sjm basically did the same thing as in acotar where the first love interest gets replaced) but in acotar and the first crescent city book we get the following endgame romantic dynamics: traumatized female main character with her angsty edgy shadowey bad boy love interest, traumatized female main character with her angsty edgy shadowey bad boy love interest (jock flavor), traumatized female main character with her angsty edgy shadowey bad boy love interest (fratboy flavor)

And Ive seen some people argue that Azriel doesnt really fit in with the IC or even the entire night court, in response to anti-elriels pointing out that it would hardly be different if its just another plotline where its these two in hanging out in a house in velaris and having sex and growing closer, which is a good point, but imo it doesnt really change their fundamental dynamic thats been setup so far; Elriel is just another interation of Traumatized Female Main Character With Her Angsty Edgy Shadowey Bad Boy Love Interest, and if this thing about SJM wanting to do something very different with Elain is true and shes not just going to bend the characters into something completely different (which could still happen, I feel like not enough people take that into consideration in this discourse), then Elucien is really the only pairing that she can write. Unless she wants to do something truly crazy i guess, like introducing a brand new character or pairing her off with a woman

Idk, Im not invested in the ship war because i really havent found any of sjm's canon romances compelling, but I am rooting for elucien because if they get together that means we might finally leave the night court next book. Which, I actually havent decided if Im gonna read that one, I know im not gonna pay for it if I do get it, but I guess I should wait to do that until Ive finished the books that are currently out lmao. Also, ive seen some people speculate that next book is not gonna be Elain's book but that Nesta is gonna get a second one, which I find pretty believable considering the stuff ive heard about hofas, and in that case it seems like its gonna be primarily about like, prythian's past and maybe reviving the dusk court, neither of which are plotpoints that sound at all interesting because we barely know anything about present day-prythian and the courts that we have now, like how are we talking about the fucking dusk court when the dawn court has been 100% irrelevant so far

I use them as a bookmarking system for videos/long posts I can't look at when I first see them and then forget to delete after I get around to actually looking at them

sometimes my ability to form normal human sentences escapes me so if I want to post something I have to go through like three drafts, none of which I delete and overwrite because I still need them to refer back to what I was fucking trying to say in the first place

I use my drafts as a place to banish angsty diary entries. I could use google docs or something but the vibes are all different, for maximum catharsis I have to imagine that I Could post it publicly. I shan't. but I Could.

I am allergic to getting into direct fights online but I am constantly full of hot takes so I've got a zillion unredacted drafts about topical discourse that are just "what does tumblr user x think they're on about lmao [screenshot of their bad post and six paragraphs explaining why I hate it]"

personally I don’t actually get involved with a lot of discourse, save for two (one which I inserted myself into) about dc, nor do I get hate at all! I genuinely believe that if you don’t interact with hate anons or negativity, they won’t continue to pursue you, and if they do, then that’s someone’s personal vendetta against you rather than a generic hate anon.

in terms of writer discourse, I feel as if there really isn’t as much as you’d think, especially if you don’t engage with them. anti-dc discourse will always be around, but as long as you don’t interact with it and block the accounts, it might as well not exist to you. because people are entitled to their own opinions and this platform’s just a cesspit of people who want to talk all about their opinions, so there’s truly no need to be involved.

this is my mantra at this point but— people need to remember that at the end of the day, we’re writing porn about cartoon characters on a platform that’s been dead since 2014. we’re not shit. this is all shits n gigs, a lil side hobby to kill our time and escape the shitshow thats the world rn.

I guess to sparknotes this: hate is not as rampant as you’d think! if you receive any, block and ignore them, because the more you entertain them the more they’ll come back. in terms of writing discourse, if it doesn’t directly accuse you of anything, there’s no need to be involved. sometimes you might get vagued or shaded, that’s fine! that’s their own opinion and it’ll only spiral into a proper discourse if you try to argue with them. once again, don’t entertain them.

Sure we see loads of discourse and hate on the daily, but the truth is the sheer amount of love and support and the friends we make on here truly washes that all out. ♡♡

'either you liked the film or it wasn't for you' is literally a black and white statement (from a post i can pick out and @ but i am not trying to start a fight or whatever). i am allowed to love something and be critical of the media i consume. i like renfield a lot and have watched it multiple times, and honestly find a lot of it skippable, but i know what i want from it lmao and hint: it is not cops or drawn out fight scenes

i am not sure where statements like this come from or why u would be getting upset over mysterious people calling renfield copaganda. i havent personally seen this as much as i have seen people be critical of hero cop screentime.

at the end of the day the hero cop (you can call her chaotic neutral all you'd like, but i'm of the opinion that even this begs a closer look than what someone who's seen it once or twice tops would take away) still has the moral highground and serves as renfields larger inspo for becoming a better more self-actualizing person. renfield cites the support group at the end, but lbr, he is stated to not have a lot of free will(? free thinking ability or something similar) by the director and has his whole git gud arc really pick up speed after he encounters rebecca. she stops acting like a cop and starts acting like a person and tbqh, i am not entirely sure why she keeps her uniform and job (there's nothing about the rest of the cops or even just her job post drac chop) since she does state that she wants to take the rest of them down permanently. i think this might be something overlooked in terms of referring to renfield as copaganda, or maybe it's meant to be ridiculous, but i'm gonna go out on a limb and say cop discourse isn't at a place yet where even the majority can see it's ridiculous that rebecca is still in uniform fighting for her personal justice against drug lords and against "her own," which is the factor that makes me think the corrupt cop narrative is a bit less than half-hearted. at the same time, the narrative about group therapy is also this way. the characters are a little sillay. there's a lot to parse and a lot of interpreting that can be done. cops and narcissism are both serious issues, i think taking offense to anyone with gripes about either issue is a bit much. renfield 2023 doesn't need to be held up as a golden pinnacle of media in order for you yourself to still be a decent person and enjoy it.

rebecca's sister and father (both cops) are pitched as good people. they are probably morally the best people in the film. that the unnamed cops arent going around actively harming people but working with others who do harm people in this film make it seem as if this is something to be taken with a grain of salt, as with literally everything else about the film, when the reality is that usa cops do this as well as actively commit atrocities against people on the regular. functionally they serve their narrative purpose, but i'm within bounds to say they're still treated too gently (ie near neutral. if you aren't able to think the lobos are entertaining or funny you probably don't like the film to begin with, and the cops in this film have put themselves on their level), esp with no one except kyle having a name. nameless mobs don't make effective antags or even pseudo villains. i personally appreciate that the cops are shitty and take advantage of overtime while being part of the industry with the fattest budget in the us. it's still a blink and you miss it gag tho. maybe some people with cop and law oriented agendas would take issue with it. i can see how people with anti cop and law agendas could also take issue with it.

i just think people can be allowed to call it copaganda if they'd like. anyone invested enough knows there's nuance, and we don't need to be puritans labeling a film or people reacting negatively to it as not good or not having justifiable takes. 'like it or just fuck off and don't be critical over xyz,' isn't a realistic expectation. a lot of thoughtless opinions get posted online all the time. in the end this is about a horror comedy and not a groundbreaking discourse piece. i think the angle for cops as a senseless body (tbc not the heroes or 'good guys.' still don't like that!) in this film is fine even and a step in the right direction for slap-in inclusion in narratives. i don't think taking issue with the people still critical of cop portrayal is a great move tho.

hi, i really appreciate u letting me know (and thank u for the compliment)! unfortunately, i didnt even think to back those kf links up - it just never crossed my mind (which, with the benefit of hindsight, was definitely a mistake since i think everyone kind of knew that kiwi farms as a website was dancing on a knifes edge well before the keffals stuff kicked off).

i did make concentrated efforts to use links other than kf wherever possible - primarily to direct less traffic to it - but a lot of the tweets/posts in question were deleted by the original posters and archived BY kiwi farms, so for those, i had no choice.

i havent looked into it in a while but it seems like kf is having a really hard time keeping their domain registered after losing cloudflare support, as i think theyve now been dropped by 3 (?) different hosting services, and like. good. joshua moon can rot (LMAO) but barring usage of the wayback machine (which i tried and it didnt work for me), theres no way for me to restore those links without kf coming back online. so on the off chance that kf does manage to find another domain registrar willing to host them, just send me a message n let me know so i can grab those screenshots & posts while theyre available

okay, i don’t normally respond to messages like this because, frankly, i dont really feel like its my place to speculate on roger’s sex life. Theres a difference between writing a fiction story with a character named after and inspired by him and discussing his actual personal life which i have no real knowledge about. What he gets up to in his free time is between him and the women he does it with. but i didn’t really feel able to ignore this one. please don’t take this as me telling you off or shutting you down or anything like that. If you want to speculate about roger’s body count thats up to you, go nuts with it. and i love when you guys message me and I don’t want to discourage you from feeling like you can talk to me or just send me your random thoughts or whatever about any subject. But I feel like I need to address why I disagree with this sentiment. Also so I can ask ya’ll to please stop asking me questions like this. 

So firstly, just to get this out of the way. 1000 is a lot. even 100 is a lot. I think if rog had slept with 1000+ people he’d have a least a few illegitimate kids and probably would have been checked into rehab for sex addiction (not to mention STIs and such because lbr people in the 70s specifically probs werent the most careful especially if drugs were involved). I mean even if we were going to say Rog got lucky with a different woman after every show we wouldn’t reach 1000. According to google, Queen played around 700 shows in their entire career. If we add shows played by The Cross thats only another 67 odd shows (according to wikipedia). 

now, i think there are 3 things that contribute to this idea of roger as especially promiscuous. 1. His attitude/demeanour/general way he sells himself. 2. the generally held conceptions about rock stars and rock star behaviour. and 3. what i’m going to call fandom dumbassery (but i mean that with a lot of love) 

So lets start with the man himself. Roger Taylor is loud and opinionated and not particularly humble. He knows he’s talented and attractive though for at least some time he was a little self-conscious about how feminine he looked. He’s always up for a laugh, likes to party and has admitted to enjoying his drink and his women. He’s had kids with two different women, who’s relationships “overlapped”, and is currently married to a third. At least that’s the perception we can gleam from his interviews, behind the scenes videos, and other public appearances. 

It’s easy to see how that image leads to accusations of being a womaniser and a cheater and basically a bit of a slut lmao. But here’s the thing. I think Roger, in part, markets himself that way. The thing is, if you look at his solo songs and the relationships he currently has with his kids and their mothers, and things other people have said about him/his relationships over the years, I think it’s fair to say he also has a bit of a romantic streak maybe? idk if thats the best way of describing it...he’s self confessed to not being a fan of marriage and the like but he’s not opposed to writing and singing love songs and seems to believe in ~love~ as a concept/power. He certainly cares deeply for those closest to him. Whether or not that translates to an agreement with monogamy I can’t say for certain. It’s hard to draw conclusions here because a lot of what we know of his personal life was fed to us through magazines and news paper gossip column articles and they were never looking for the truth, they were looking for scandal and sensationalism. 

For instance the whole thing with the overlapping relationships. I think most people who have read anything about roger and dom and debbie realise that it’s not as cut and dry as “he was cheating with debbie and left dom for her” even though that was the story being sold by the press at the time. The reality (or at least the version closer to reality since obviously no one outside of them and whoever they were closest with knows all the nitty gritty details) is that rog and dom had already split when they got married. it was a marriage of convenience to make sure her and the kids would be looked after financially etc even after he’d moved out. So while it looked to the public like he married one chick and 30 odd days later was spotted with another, there really wasn’t anything untoward happening.  I’m not saying he never had casual hookups or one night stands and i’m not saying he never cheated, but I do think some of it’s been exaggerated, whether by him to encourage the rock star perception or by newspaper/magazine articles.

Now, obviously, we have stories of rog, particularly in the late 60s and into the 70s, being with multiple women. There’s that bit in the Interview with a Queen “Groupie” (which is a fantastic read and i defs recommend checking it out if you havent already) where she talks about roger being a chick magnet and says that, at the time, it was pretty common to sleep about. But, she also says she didnt notice him doing it more or less than anyone else and seemed to mostly be with Jo (his girlfriend at the time). This is the same Jo that got a mention in the Queen in 3D book (”i think we all had the feeling that these two were together for life, but it was not to be”). Conversely, we have that quote (which i cannot find rn but i’ll link it when i do) about roger sometimes having one girl upstairs while another waited in the garage for them to be finished. I think it was about Rog in the mid-late 60s in Truro but whatever. Obviously he wasn’t anywhere near celibate and it’s likely was sleeping with people outside of his relationship(s). But one has to assume that as he got older those kinds of antics stopped happening, at least as frequently.

There is one potential story that I remember reading somewhere along the way about Roger cheating on Debbie while she was pregnant. But, take that with a grain of salt because I can’t find the article again and also I think it was from like The Sun or something equally as rubbish. The press was notoriously always printing mean shit about the boys and that might have been another thing they published to create scandal. Even so, if we assume it’s legit that is still only 1 story. Not to throw him under the bus but Brian is the one with multiple confirmed affairs, who literally wrote songs about it all. So why is Roger the one with sleazy reputation? 

This is where my second and third points come in. There is a pervasive idea about what it means to be a rock star. The whole trashing hotel rooms, sleeping with groupies, passing out drunk every night thing. And I’m sure that Queen was like that to an extent. I think it’s pretty common knowledge that all of them got up to shit on the road. Between innuendo laden interviews and songs, videos and accounts of their parties, stories CT has put online, and other stories like the one of Roger bringing out lines of coke as dessert when he was having dinner with motley crue. They definitely embraced the rock and roll lifestyle. And I think with Roger’s personality being what it is, it’s easy to link him to those traditional rock star tropes and say it was all true all the time. I also think Roger has done nothing to counter those beliefs. He’s been open about how he wanted to be a rock star since the minute he picked up a guitar, he’s labelled himself as a great lay in magazines, he’s joked about girls pulling their tits out over dinner in interviews (though he said he didnt take her home), he’s written songs like One Night Stand and Dirty Mind and Airheads which explicitly mention his preference for women and alcohol. I think it’s fair to say he’s kind of encouraged that view of himself. Whether it was just a side effect of being part of such a well known band and having such a boisterous demeanour/personality, or whether it was intentional as a version of promotion i don’t know. maybe a mix of them? I mean I’m sure it didn’t hurt sales and stuff. it’s the whole guys want to be him, girls want to be with him thing, right? Maybe that’s just me being cynical though lmao. 

Anyway, the fandom brain has taken all of that and compressed it into memes and jokes about rog being the band slut. Which i’m not complaining about, lord knows i’ve made the same jokes and reblogged the same posts and used those tropes in my fics. They’re funny and lend themselves to interesting fic concepts. Plus, i think roger is the sort of person who would probably laugh about most of it. But it’s an idea that keeps feeding into itself through fandom, perpetuating what is probably a misguided view of his personal life.

Again, I am sure he’s had his fair share of fun and I’m not trying to make out that he was always perfect or whatever, but I don’t think he’s been with as many women as the popular discourse would imply and I certainly don’t think he’s in the 4 digit numbers.

Hi hunny thanks for asking~! It’s okey if you dont regress I’ll answer your questions~! Buckle up because this requires a bit of backstory~!!

Lets start with the 4 million communities and labels. In the regression community theres always been tension between sexual regressors (ddlg, cgl etc) and non sexual regressors (chire, agere). Non sexual regressors often regress due to trauma as a child (sexual abuse etc) so being around people that treat childish things as sexual objects upsets them A LOT. The real drama comes in with the communities.

Regression communities are little groups that people can join to regress together, do activities, and make new friends. Most groups have people that they do not allow to join like transphobes, exclusionists, terfs and people like that. BUT many communities disallow anyone in kink to join. Which is cool and understandable, but the issue comes in when groups like cgl/re, which are not kink, get excluded from lots of communities because cgl/re uses a few kink terms. Like calling their caregiver daddy or mommy. Nothing sexual about it, its just a name. I call my CG daddy and NOTHING sexual happens while I’m regressed evereverever we both draw the line there. But this upsets SFW groups to no end because if we use those terms then we are automatically kink to them.

OKAY time for the teenietots discourse, the reason i left tumblr for literally a year. I used to be primary-bunny. I was fairly well known in the community. I was in teenietots, a sfw agere community and the biggest one at the time. At the time the head of teenietots was Donut. She was really sweet and we talked quite a bit. BUT then there an issue. I cant remember EXACTLY how it was started so don’t quote me on this, but it was revealed through screenshots that she had a tendency to be really abusive towards other people and apparently had connections to kink. The agere-league or whatever called for her to step down and she did.

This led to teenietots being labeled as a kink community, just for being formally associated with her. I dont think it is anymore, it has new mods and everything but idk I havent looked into it too much. idc

It stressed me out to no end because all I wanted was to feel small but there was an ongoing witchhunt for anyone that was in kink ever or even associated with it lmao. I expressed my irritation and lost quite a few followers and just being on tumblr wasnt fun anymore. So I just left.

My advice is to just DO YOU. Post and reblog what makes you happy.

A few terms:

byf = Before you follow. A page on a agere blog that you are meant to read before interacting. It tells you who they don’t want interacting with them due to various reasons. they can get lengthy.

Dd/lg = Daddy dom/little girl. Subset of BDSM where the roles of dom and sub take a more parent and child kind of role. There is ageplay a lot of the times. Its 110% kink.

Cg/l = CaregiverLittle. The gender neutral term for dd/lg. Also kink

Cg/lre = Spawned from cg/l but non kink. They still use ‘little’ terms

Agere = Age regression. 

Chire = Child regression.

All in all just try to respect peoples boundaries. My policy is if they are WAYYYY too strict about who can interact then I just leave them alone because its not that important. You don’t even regress so there won’t be much of an issue BUT be careful because some blogs dont want you interacting if anyone from kink follows you  or interacts with you. This can get sticky because you cant keep them from interacting EVER and if they reblog from you they dont have to take it down because you say so. Many dont and will tell you to go away.
