I've seen some cute Narumitsu coffee shop/bakery/something like that au's and they're great but with all that cuteness I kind of miss the first game's canonical homoerotic rivalry between these two. Like imagine two bakers who are archenemies. And Edgeworth is 100% serious about his war with Phoenix. They do crimes together.

In order, we have Babs and Cantrip, who belong to me and my roommate. They are siblings and are meant to parallel each other in design and role. Yona and Taco are sisters and are also meant to be parallels (they belong to @termyia). Janet belongs to a friend. The group meets her while on a mission, being flashy and thief-y. Kiwi is @yesidoodles' parrot. She uses her Babylonian roots to be the escape vehicle master. Cleo is another friend's cat and is the combat medic. She's nice, but is probably the scariest member of the team.

Idk if I'd consider them OCs, but it was a nice exercise, turning random animals into Classic Sonic characters.

We Need to Accept that Silly Things Can Hurt People

Please allow me to ruminate a bit more on mental health on this blog. I have ADHD and OCD, both disorders commonly stereotyped and conflated with minor, silly behaviors like yelling SQUIRREL when you see a squirrel and organizing things by color. These stereotypes can often minimize and erase the genuine difficulties and harm that these conditions can cause. That’s very true, and it often causes intense sensitively and knee-jerk denial around stereotypes around this. I don’t think that’s necessarily the best reaction, because sometimes people can have symptoms very similar to these stereotypes.

I think we need to accept that silly things can hurt people. Silly, ridiculous symptoms can devastate people’s lives. People shouldn’t have to react into their painful past and trauma to get people to take their symptoms seriously when those symptoms are silly on their face, because that turns things into a pain competition and can result in gatekeeping how much people must suffer before their seemingly ridiculous symptoms get taken seriously.

I think we just need to, as a society and culture and social norm, accept that silly things can genuinely, sometimes intensely, hurt people. Yes, I do have the impulse to tell an animal’s name when I see that animal, and yes it’s part of my symptoms that makes it harder to me to drive and hold conversations and do basic functioning. Yes, I do worry about incredibly tiny and silly things, that the world’s tiniest cut means I’m literally dying, and this has at times been incredibly miserable to live with and severely inhibited my functioning and nearly lost me a job. Also I’m going to joke about it sometimes because it’s funny. I’m not going to find a joke about it from a stranger with no OCD funny, because they have no idea how much pain it can cause me.

Sometimes these conditions are absurd in ways that are funny. That’s true and people with the conditions should be able to joke about it. But everyone needs to understand, just because a symptom is absurd doesn’t mean it can’t also devastate you and ruin your life. So if you don’t have these conditions and aren’t super close to someone who has them, I think you should be sensitive and avoid joking even if it seems silly and funny. I think there is where true destigmatization lies: accepting that the silly brain can also really hurt.

Yang mistakes Ruby for Summer at first, but she's more alarmed by the fact that she's her sister

Penny getting them all with a hug, telling them how much she missed everyone

When they reveal how long they've been in the Ever After, the others are understandably worried and confused

Ruby tells them that she knew that they would have to show up eventually, even if she wasn't sure exactly when, and she had Penny with her the whole time

And when Penny kisses Ruby on the cheek for being so sweet, they're bombarded with even more questions

yeah I have thoughts on that idea. The first one takes the form of an incoherent screech of joy because I love the spin this eould put on established events. Seeing Daud's and Billie's relationship start out and develop would be wonderful.

the second thought I had was that, oddly enough, the pitch gave me Locust City vibes. Idk if you know anything about that particular project but charting the development of two characters' relationship during a troubled time was a big part of the plan. I think Dishonored is at its best when it focuses on character building like that so it's a fantastic idea, I'd love to know if you had more details planned out

the third thought I had was a bit more meta. Dishonored seems to advance as a narrative by branching out new stories based off of previously secondary characters. telling their tales, so to speak. And to some extent Daud's and Billie's stories have been told already. There really is just one or two characters big enough in the narrative to have their own spinoff stories at this point. Delilah or the Outsider. And since Delilah is already featured in two stories I'd be curious if you had any ideas for an Outsider-centered narrative

Harvey Smith said that if he's rescued the first thing he'd do is sit at a cafe table and watch the world he is once again part of walk by. But I think this is a guy who has seen too much over too long to not get involved somehow

hello! sorry it took me so long to reply :") and sorry it is a long one what i love about KoD, is that it handles daud & billie's relationship with both reticence and candor - despite that we're given limited amount of interactions between them we're still shown the specialty of their rship to each other! there's a lot of background behind it, a story that doesnt get told but the hints are there! dh2 touches on their rship as well through meagan foster's character arc and...doto exists. anyway!

unfortunately, im not familiar with locus city! it was supposed to be a spin-off of disco elysium? i havent played it. "the development of two characters' relationship during a troubled time was a big part of the plan." has huge dh vibes, really! some other details i thought of: - same as with KoD, chaos system affects reputation, which involves the other whalers, as well as how billie will turn out (aka a longer version oh her character behaviour development in KoD) - a spin on mission vs base mechanic dh does: "base" parts would require training the whalers, managing the base and getting ready for the next mission more thoroughly! i feel like mission parts could be the "global" part of the story, whereas base is more "personal", but still impactful - a /j one in "choosing your mark" reverse-babysitting billie as daud so she gets to the base unharmed but without getting seen :) - oh! also forgot to pin this shitposty-thing to the og post. if it counts:

fully agree! the expansion of stories for character's in dh universe is my main reason why i love these games so much - it shows that care and dedication went into building the world, you know? :D and even with secondary characters/targets its visible through hints withing the game's lore as for the outsider-centered narrative, i dont have ides on that! would be cool to explore his mindset behind choosing the marked - doesnt have to be set in dh1/dh2 time! i love when people do post-doto takes - it deals with a whole different type of emotions (& the horrors of mortal life after being god.) and im curious if anyone had takes on his godhood when it was present! as a human, he'd probably get in Situations. being curious doesnt depend on divinity, haha!
