Opinions on Charlie woobification? Also, do you think the fandom woobifies Dennis (too much)?

A few people have sent me asks about my thoughts on Dennis being woobified in the fandom and I’ve failed to answer them (sorry). Not for lack of interest on the subject, it’s just hard to answer. I think, though, answering this Charlie question in the same ask might make it easier to explain my thoughts on this.

When we talk about the fandom we’re generally talking about the people here, a couple hundred people on Twitter, maybe some Instagram stans(?) and tend to ignore the million (1,000,000)+ people on the subReddit and the huge chunk of people on Facebook and casual Twitter who are constantly, continually pushing a narrative that these characters have no depth, and thus their characterisation is what we see on the surface and nothing more. I think the one time it’s probably important not to ignore those people as fans of the show is when it comes to woobification.

Because at a surface level, the people who are consuming this show as a comedy and making posts that exhibit their takes/opinions on these characters to the majority of people portray the characters very simply: Charlie is an idiot and the best member of the Gang, in every sense of the word, and Dennis is a mere representation of toxic masculinity to a psychopathic degree. And those opinions are the loud majority.

So any discussion in our minority section of the fandom that woobifies Charlie or Dennis operates within and on top of the general narrative of the public perception (“face value”) of the characters. Woobification of Charlie, then, almost always further infantilises the majority of his traits to contribute to the idea that he’s not a bad guy and doesn’t deserve the position he’s in in life, while woobification of Dennis mostly works to counteract the idea that he’s a cold-blooded psychopath.

In a way, I think you have to woobify Dennis to a degree in order to properly understand his character (and Glenn makes that clear). Do some people take it too far? When it gets into the realm of genuinely somehow believing he’s not a bad person, absolutely, but in over a decade of Sunnyblr posts, I think I’ve seen that conclusion once, maybe twice. I really don’t think any post that’s diving into how Dennis' actions reflect his insecurities and trauma is ever speaking ignorant of the rest of his character, and that normally seems clear to the majority of people because rarely, if ever, does a dive into Dennis woobification cause fans to understand the character worse than they understood him at face value.

Whereas, with Charlie, you constantly do see this. Posts and threads and fights between fans arguing up and down that Charlie is better than the rest of them: he’s the smartest, actually, he means to do good, he shouldn’t be lumped in with the rest of them as sexual predators... People in this fandom genuinely argue that you are a *better person* if you’re a Charlie stan, that Charlie ships are softer, more moral, than toxic Dennis ships. The result of Charlie woobification seems to often make people less media literate about the character (and the show as a whole if we’re being real) than they would be if they just watched at face value.

They’re all morally despicable characters.

TL;DR: Due to the face value perceptions of the characters, woobification is an almost necessary tool for better exploring and understanding Dennis under his surface, while it really only exacerbates an annoying surface-level understanding of Charlie

when i feel anxiety -> i let it pass while knowing its only a human reaction

◦ since i am beyond just a human (i am limitless imagination/self), i know any anxiety is below me and it has nothing to do with my limitless self. i have exactly what i decided i have, regardless of any anxiety.

know anxiety usually comes from a fear of failure

◦ so, i cannot limit myself based on what i see or what i negatively assume my future will look like bc i am always beyond the 3d, no matter what feelings/anxiety my human self experiences.

◦ i become indifferent/i dont care about what i see or what i assume i will see because i know everything comes together in the 3d once i change self/know its done. fact: everything always comes together and works out in the end. being indifferent to the 3d = being indifferent to emotions, anxiety and everything that doesnt serve you.

dont fight it, dont avoid it, tackle it head on

◦ acknowledge you are experiencing anxiety bc you are. yes it can feel like shit but it doesnt have to affect who you are being (whatever version of self you are embodying). again, i can choose to be indifferent to this anxiety. you dont have to be scared of the anxiety. it is a natural human response. cry if you need to, let it all out. dont try to suppress it bc that will only come to bite you back in the ass, believe me.

◦ take care of your mental health in whatever ways necessary. when i used to experience anxiety, i used to take walks in the park, clear my head, meditate, express myself and my emotions through art and journaling, etc. remember nothing you do (or feel) in the 3d has to affect who you are being/your state.

"how can i still have anxiety yet still be a desired version of me?"

anxiety has no affect on anything unless you allow it to change your identity. you are the one with power, the anxiety is only an experience, similar to breathing in oxygen and using our sense of touch; its all neutral. when you start surrendering to the anxiety, you are creating and accepting negative stories that you create based on the feeling of anxiety. allowing that anxious feeling to change your state/identity is surrendering to something you view as more "powerful" than you. stop transforming that anxiety into a state that you embody based on the false, negative stories u imagine.

remember a 3d experience or anxious feelings doesnt have to influence who you are being. an example: a model who knows (fulfilled) that she is graceful and beautiful can have anxiety about doing her catwalk. the anxiety is normal, she can experience the symptoms of anxiety (shortness of breath, dry mouth, shaking) but her core identity/state is still a graceful model. the anxiety is only a temporary feeling. usually when we experience these feelings, they occupy all of our attention in that moment which is why it seems so scary but in reality, its not that big a deal. know that anxiety is just a feeling. you are safe. you can still experience shitty feelings while knowing you are a bad bitch!

you dont always identify with everything you experience. for example, a lot of people experience good things and still identify as people who are unworthy of good things. so its really up to you to choose what to identify with.

i know my only job is knowing its done

◦ if i just decided its done, as the operant power, as i say goes, therefore its done. so my job is done. anxiety is part of the 3d, not my limitless self, imagination. so i can be indifferent and experience it without identifying with it, the same way people manifest what they desire while experiencing their shitty circumstances daily (because they do not identify with those shitty experiences).

◦ ive heard/experienced situations where we know its done yet we cried and felt like shit, and what we wanted still manifested into the 3d. bc anxiety is only a feeling. do not allow your feelings to take hold of your state, but if it does, its never the end of the world... just get back in the state. 3d shit/anxiety doesnt have to intervene with who you are being/what you identify with.

Yeah so as recent news from LA illustrates perfectly: a lot of orgs are going to be organizing protests, because it's visible and attracts turnout, particularly among young folks who want to be engaged but may not have deep organizing chops. These orgs are generally not used to countering direct resistance from the emboldened police state, and because of the prevalence of "horizontal" org structures, they may not have strong leadership making snap (let alone good) strategic decisions on the ground. If youre going to protest, know what the fuck a kettle is, and do not enter one. Unfortunately, from the middle of a large group, a kettle might be impossible to identify until it's too late - so you have to know who youre organizing with, and know when to cut and get out of dodge.

Just in general, an org that organizes a protest under the repressive militarized American regime, asks you to expose yourself to that violence as a consequence of attending, and then designs a protest route that gets them kettled - or that allows itself to be led off-route into a kettle - is not adequately protecting its members or looking out for your safety. An org that has a protest route without a vehicle brigade between you and the cops whenever possible is not adequately protecting its members or looking out for your safety. An org that demonstrates without a black block contingent in sight is not even vaguely serious about contending with police violence. And even orgs that plan smart routes, enlist drivers, and encourage block still might not be at all prepared if the state decides to show out in force. Protests are necessary and promote the visibility of dissent but they are one of the least effective means of organizing a genuine resistance to fascism. Don't do something that feels off, or that doesnt have a clear and direct aim that outweighs the very real threat, just to feel like you did something at all. Be smart. Be safe. Riddle had only come by to drop off the notes you’d missed from class but the moment you opened the door, his words faltered. I didn’t mean to intrude” he said quickly, turning around to face the opposite direction. Though visibly flustered, he kept his tone respectful, making no mention of your state of dress. “I should have messaged you first” he added, more to himself than you, stiffly holding the notes out behind him like a peace offering.

Once you reassured him it was fine and invited him in, Riddle cautiously stepped inside but avoided eye contact, clearly trying to give you space. Still, he lingered a little longer than necessary, asking how you were feeling and subtly checking in without making it awkward. “Just… don’t forget to take care of your health properly,” he murmured before leaving, his version of showing care without overstepping.

Uh… comfy time, huh?” he said casually, scratching the back of his neck.

Rather than making a big deal, Ruggie flopped onto a nearby chair and continued chatting like nothing had happened. “Didn’t mean to barge in. S’all good if you’re just chillin’.” He didn’t stare or joke, just treated it like any other visit. Still, after a moment of silence, he added, “Hey, for what it’s worth… proud of you for takin’ care of yourself.” Then he smirked, “Now, about them cookies…”

Azul had intended to discuss your assistance with Mostro Lounge and thought a face-to-face meeting would be more polite. He knocked but assumed you didn’t hear him, so he let himself in. Seeing you in a loose tank top, visibly caught mid-rest, Azul froze like a deer in headlights. His glasses slipped slightly down his nose as his brain processed the situation.

His face turned bright red and he immediately turned away. “My sincerest apologies, I didn’t realize, I should’ve confirmed before entering.” His tone was formal but edged with panic. Still, once you waved it off, he relaxed marginally, facing away from you. “You’re… allowed to your comfort after hours. Please, don’t feel the need to apologize for being yourself.” He left quickly after, but you could tell he genuinely meant it.

Jade was delivering a rare plant you requested and as always, he entered silently. You hadn’t heard him until he was already in the doorway. He gently placed the pot on your windowsill, glancing your way again with an unreadable expression. “There’s nothing shameful about being comfortable in your own home, you know,” he said, almost idly. “But next time, do let me know if you’d prefer I announce myself more clearly.” With a slight smile, he bowed politely and left, his respect and discretion unwavering.

Floyd had come by just to annoy you for fun, he liked how you reacted when caught off guard. He kicked the door open without warning and grinned. “Heeeey, little Shrimpy—” He paused mid-greeting, his eyes locking onto your chest for a beat too long before blinking slowly. Then, with zero shame, he let out a soft whistle. “Oho~ comfy mode, huh?”

To your surprise, Floyd didn’t mock or tease beyond that initial comment. He flopped on the floor dramatically. “You look different without that tight thing on. You breathe better like this?” He asked it with genuine curiosity, leaning his chin on his palm. For all his chaotic energy, there was an easy acceptance in his tone, like he couldn’t care less what you looked like, as long as you were still “his Shrimpy.”

Kalim burst into Ramshackle, holding a tray of desserts he wanted to share. “Yuu! You’ve gotta try this sweet custard I bought—” His eyes widened when he spotted you on the couch, and he froze. “Oh—! Sorry, I didn’t mean to just walk in!” He turned around so fast he nearly dropped the tray, clearly flustered but respectful.

You reassured him it was okay, and when he turned back around, he smiled a little sheepishly. “I didn’t know binders could be uncomfortable like that… You’re super strong for wearing one every day. I hope you’re feeling better now!” He set the tray down and offered you a spoonful with a cheerful grin. “Let’s just chill, okay? No pressure”

Jamil only came by to return a book he borrowed, thinking you would be out and planning to just leave it at the door. Instead, he found you in the lounge, shirt loose and stretched after hours of wear. He froze for a split second but composed himself immediately. “Sorry. I didn’t expect you to be here,” he said calmly, his voice as measured as always.

He didn’t comment or stare, just walked over, placed the book on the table, and turned to go. Before leaving, though, he paused. “Don’t overwork yourself. You don’t have to push yourself just to meet everyone else’s standards.” It was quiet, but heartfelt. Then, with a nod, he slipped out as smoothly as he came in.

Silver had wandered into Ramshackle half-asleep, genuinely believing he was still outside his own dorm. “Yuu…?” he mumbled, blinking as he stepped inside. The moment he registered your figure curled up on the couch, loose tank top and comfortable, he blinked again, this time with more awareness. “Oh—I'm sorry. I didn’t mean to intrude.”

True to his nature, Silver didn’t make it awkward. He quietly stepped back and gave you space, bowing slightly. “You deserve to rest however you need. I hope you’re feeling alright.” And just like that, he turned and left, calm and respectful, never treating it like anything unusual, just a normal part of being a person he cared about.

It had damien and danny as siblings (demon twins? I don’t remember if they were actually twins though).

Danny was trained by the LOA to be a spy. He was sent to the fentons to study their work (or maybe just sent away to get him out of the picture as heir), but eventually learns to love the fentons as his true family, and starts lying in his reports back to the league to keep the fentons safe.

The fentons are aware of his LOA background and he tells them about his reports and backup plans for keeping them all safe. They are all loving and supportive.

Anyway, when damien finds out about dannys whereabouts (after damien has been living with the batfam for a while, and the league has partially disbanded after his grandfather was killed) and believes that danny is still loyal to the league and still working on his mission.

As danny was trained to be a spy he is an incredible actor. The batfam believe he is likely very unstable because of his LOA upbringing and how long he has been “forced” to play this role as the fentons kid. They want to invite him to the batfam and give him a chance to discover who he is without the mask of “danny fenton”, but they also know that this process will likely be very slow going, and that they must be very careful with how they proceed. They dont want to risk danny running back to the league if his told about its current crumbling state. So they need to give him information slowly.

Danny doesnt know that the league is much less of a threat now. He also doesnt know how close the fam are to the league. He cant risk telling them that he wants to stay with the fentons in case it makes him seem disobedient and worthy of punishment (how the LOA would view his feelings), so when the batfam come knocking, he just goes with them. No questions asked.

He “drops the act” that supposedly was being “danny fenton”, just like how the batfam (and anyone from the LOA would have) expected him to.

He does his best to act exactly how the LOA trained him to be: an empty, emotionless puppet. The perfect blank canvas to be shaped into whatever role was necessary. No passions, no care. Nothing. He never questions anything, never asked for help, and only does what people tell him to. This is obviously incredibly disturbing for the batfam who are trying their best to rehabilitate him. Danny is lowkey planning to fake his death and go back home. He doesnt even feel bad because he thinks the batfam work with the LOA.

The only scenes I remember clearly was when damien showed up to the fenton house and goes upstairs to retrieve danny, before danny knows hes here, and danny is carving protection runes along the wall. Or, I remember one of the replies including the batfam telling danny about the fall of the LOA while they are all in the car and danny just opens the door, rolls out, and goes home because hes not putting up with them unless under the threat of death to him or his loved ones.

Anyway I would really appreciate your help finding it because I cant stop thinking about it

How does the blu team feel about their move to Coldfront? Does anyone like it there or do they miss the way things were?

Moving to Coldfront

Let me paint you a picture. Long post incoming!

Everyone has been called into the meeting room for an announcement, but no one has ben told what it is. As they all find their seats they're discussing possible explanations with the person beside them. Is it bad news? Good news? They look to Heavy for answers. As team leader he is usually the one to call the meetings, but today he is as clueless as the rest.

After a few minutes of this, Miss Pauling walks in and stands at the end of the table so everyone can see and hear her clearly.

"Hi guys, thanks you for coming. I have a message from the Administrator. *Ahem* It has come to the companys attention that multible members of this team has been seen fraternising with the enemy on multible occasions over a longer period. This, as you all know as stated in your contracts, is stricktly forbidden. The company has found it necessary to transfer BLU team #01 - that's you - to a new facility to fight RED team #8 for control of the area. The new base is located in the north of Canada and is refered to by the codename Coldfront. This change is effective immediately" Miss Pauling looks up at the team who sits around her in stunned silence. "You leave tomorrow morning. I would get packing if I were you. And this is off the record but I am going to RED base to give them the news so if you have a message for any of them now would be the time to write something down."

She gives them 10 minutes to write whatever they need to and give it to her before she leaves and lets them pack for the next morning.

Scout is bummed about it. He has become sort of friends with the RED Scout and they have fun hanging out during baseball season. He writes a short note with his phone number on it and a message letting RED scout know that he can call when the next season starts to discuss the games. He's not too thrileld about the new base when they get there. It's too cold to go for a run outside but he and Demo go explore the base and find an empty room they plan to convert into a gym, and that lifts morale a greate deal. He gets used to it fast after that. It gets pretty cold in New York so it almost reminds him of home in the winter.

Soldier is devistated. He has finally come to terms with who he is and his feelings for the RED Demo and now he has to leave him. He tries to write something heartfelt, but he doesnt have the words to express how he feels. He decides instead to break into RED base that night to tell him in person. He gets into a fight with BLU Demo, accusing him of snitching on them to the Administrator. Demo tells him thats stupid, he's friends with Tavish too, why would he ruin that? It doesn't register and Soldier storms off outside to blow off some steam. He hates everything about the base at first, but it's all misplaced frustration that he can't just hop over to RED and see his Demo. After a few days he starts to see the appeal of the place tho and ends up loving it. The base itself is build into a mountain and feels like a bunker, which is the most secure place one can be! Easily patroled, secured and protected. It eases his paranoia a great deal.

Pyro is indifferent. They never really cared about RED team on a personal level and never hung out with any of them on a regular basis. His friends are on his team, and they're all going with him so who cared about RED. Pyro likes the new place, it feels like a big secret hideout! Heavy tells them fires inside are stricktly forbidden because of the lack of windows but he is allowed to go nuts outside in the snow. He learns how to knit and startes knitting ugly sweaters, hats, mittens and socks for everyone.

Demo feels everyones eyes on him after the meeting is over. He has always been the one to complain the loudest over the REDs always being in the base, but he swears he has nothing to do with this! He just wants BLU base to be for the BLUs! Those are the rules! Why can't they meet their friends on neutral ground, like he does when he meets up in the nearest town to hang out with Tavish? He doesn't write anything down, he can get a phone number from Soldier once he's calmed down. Demo likes the new place. After the first match with the RED team it's clear that they won't be coming over unanounced like the others did. They are not friendly and that puts his mind at ease. After having done some exploring with Scout and getting the place furnished it begins to feel like home.

Heavy is confused, but mostly just annoyed about it all. Now he has to pack up all his stuff and deal with all this shit. As team leader it's his job to make sure all this goes smoothly, and he can already feel a headache coming on. He'll have to ask Medic for some painkillers later. He will miss the weekly poker nights with Misha but he writes him a short note in russian telling him about the move and that he can call if he needs anything. Heavy likes the new base. It's cold, sure, but he's used to that by now. The heat of the desert was way worse. A big man like him isn't build for running around in the sun all day. Now he gets to wear some of the warm, comfortable winter clothes he brought from home. The base itself is fine, great size, his own room and a workshop where he can work on his gun.

Engineer is glad to be gone from the desert, even if he is going to miss the heat. He thinks it's a shame to have to say goodbye to Dell, whom he has a good time talking tech with, but that crazy Medic they have gives him the creeps and he won't be sad to see him in the rearview mirror. Besides, the workshop in Tuefort was always too small for his liking. Engineer is quick to move all his stuff into the new bases workshop and it doesn't take him more than a few hours to make it feel like he's always been there. With more room to build his turrets get upgrades and he starts to work on some ideas he never had the space for before.

Medic is sad to go and leave behind his brilliant friend and colleague. He doesn't want to waste any time writing letters with everything he has to pack, so he hurries to the MedBay to get as much down as possible. The movers will break his instruments and get their dirty hands all over his things, he's sure of it. Better to do it himself. He gives Miss Pauling a suspicious looking package with... something... seeping out of the bottom to give to Herbert. Medic loves the new facility. Because it was formerly used for research the lab is huge and already packed with a lot of interesting instruments and equipment for the taking. He wastes no time setting up the new MedBay. It's colder than he'd like, but he was always more of a sweater guy anyway, so he doesn't complain.

Sniper thinks this move sucks. He doesn't have a lot of personal possessions to move, but he doesn have a lot of animals hidden away and the sudden change in habitat is going to stess them out. He has to release some of them back into the wild, not wanting to risk them getting hurt during the move or not being able to survive in the cold. Sniper doesn't like the new base all that much. It's far too cold for his liking, too cold for camping outside and there are hardly any cool bugs outside in the snow. He does come to appreciate the beauty of the snow and its animals while filming them, but misses the heat and the sun terribly.

Spy is ecstatic to be leaving RED team behind. He has had horrible nightmares and panic attacks about that horrid Medic of theirs ever since his head got reunited with his body. He has nothing to say to their Spy, he hardly knows him. The name and location of the new base worries him. After having spent so long inside a fridge the thought of being somewhere cold all the time fills him with dread. He knows where is no way around it and hopes the therapy he has already gone through is enough to take the worst of it. Spy hates the new base. Well, not the base itself, although he finds it terribly drab and ugly. He hates the cold. It's so cold all the time. The snow is endless and for the first 2 months he has a panic attack before every match at the mere thought of having to go outside. Thankfully his appointments with the therapist he was assigned continue and with time he learns how to deal with his fear and maybe even be sort of ok with it.

silver hasn't changed - he's just been put in different scenarios (a silver character analysis)

something that constantly frustrates me when it comes to discourse over silver's character is that people either treat him as a total uwu soft boy, OR they overcorrect and treat him as some unhinged asshole.

silver's always been a mix of both, but here's why i think it feels like he's gotten "softer" to some people:

silver has ALWAYS had sort of two sides to him based on what situation he's in. he's this pure-hearted, naive kid who refuses to give up hope and who cares about people deeply.

but part of his naivety is that he's very headstrong when pursuing his goals, and tends to see things as very black and white when other people get involved ("you're either with me or against me" kinda thing)

silver is not one or the other, he's both. HE'S ALWAYS BEEN BOTH. in 06 you see scenes of him ruthlessly trying to murder sonic, but you also see scenes of his relationship with blaze, or him taking in the beauty of the nature he's never seen before.

and these sides of him are intertwined as well. the brash and aggressive way silver treats people in the rivals series, for example, stems FROM his naivety and social awkwardness. silver genuinely expects people to just believe him and let him do what he needs to do without question. so when people demand he explain himself, or get in his way because they don't understand what he's doing, he gets frustrated.

(i also just don't think that the rivals series is a good frame of reference to point to when complaining silver is too soft nowadays, considering that literally everyone in those games is like 50% more aggressive than they usually are lol. espio literally tells knuckles, his friend, to his face that he doesnt care that the master emerald is missing and won't help him find it)

anyways, getting more into specifics, 06 and the rivals games show off how silver acts when he's on a mission - he's brash, he's aggressive, and totally focused on doing whatever's necessary to achieve his goals.

his next appearance after that is sonic colors ds, where he's way more chill and casually talks with sonic. which makes sense because there's no reason stated for silver being there; he doesn't have a goal he's pursuing at the moment, so you're able to see that more relaxed side of him.

he's aggressive again in his next game appearance, generations, because he thinks sonic is an impostor - again, there is a specific reason for him acting that way.

forces i don't count because silver is so egregiously out of character there ("i'm an optimist but i'm also a realist" - dawg no the fuck you are not) but he's definitely not an uwu soft boy there

in team sonic racing he's definitely a bit softer which makes sense considering it's just. car racing. and in idw for the most part he's either chilling, or helping the others face a threat, so again there isn't really a reason for that aggressiveness to rear its head.

but we DO see it come out in idw more recently!! as soon as he thinks something's up with "duo," he immediately jumps to that anger and brashness:

these moments are pretty in line with the aggressiveness he displayed in 06 or the rivals series, which i think goes to show that his character hasn't really CHANGED.

it's just that more recently, he's usually been in lower stakes situations where that softer side of his is spotlighted, while during his earlier appearances that more aggressive side was what was spotlighted. but both sides have always existed, and both sides continue to exist.

tldr: stop complaining about silver being too soft please for the love of god

my personal take on "antigonism" is that it's entirely what you make of it. which is to say, i agreed with your post explaining why you felt such a term was necessary, and i do think this mentality of "most of us are normal about each other" and simply assuming we understand each other's experiences by virtue of being trans is reinventing artificial gender solidarity between cis people ("bros before hoes", "girl's girl") but superimposed onto trans people. which can be particularly contentious, given that we're an extremely traumatized bunch with a lot of baggage and massively diverging perspectives on all kinds of things. relating to each other outside of conventional gender relations means we have to put in that much more work to bridge the gaps between us, because we can no longer rely on the common assumptions made about men and women to carry our interactions, if that makes sense.

i do think a whole word for transfem-to-transmasc solidarity does toe a line between being unnecessarily inflammatory and conditionally useful. i'm genuinely glad for the people who felt seen and appreciated by the fact that a transfem made so explicit her stance on intracommunity issues. i'm also sympathetic to the people who feel put-off by such a word. when does allyship become chauvinistic? there is no word for a non-misogynistic man to signal to women that he is explicitly anti-antifeminist, for example. do we need one? i think a vast majority would say no, on account of simply stating he believes in feminist principles to suffice. so i'm wondering what specifically the push was for you to coin a word around tfem4tmasc solidarity, because while i do think trans people as a whole need to take significantly more initiative about rooting out transmisogyny and transandrophobia both, i'm not quite clear on what could signal more clearly a transfem's stance on intracommunity dialogue than just saying "i believe in transandrophobia and condemn all radfems". all feminism, transfeminism included, has had their malicious actors-- the existence of transradfems isn't really anything noteworthy as far as the broader feminist conversations go.

i hope this doesnt come across as confrontational because i think the people who found comfort in the fact that you are willing to go that far for them is truly heartwarming. i just don't want to see us splinter further into microfactions over something like one person coining one maybe-overenthusiastic word on the internet

Sincerely, there is a word for men who are anti-anti-feminist, though, they're feminists. Granted, self-identified "feminist" men have somewhat of a negative stereotype associated to them, but still, feminist men are feminists.

One of the biggest reasons I think a term would be useful is because so many people feel unsafe in the trans community because of trans radical feminism right now that it can help them relax a lot when they see a trans woman identifies as such. Just reminding people with assurances that most trans women are Normal doesn't really help that when they keep running into ones who aren't over and over.

TRFs are aggressive about this stuff. Seriously, every single day, post after post, their primary form of activism is crying about TMEs stealing kinks and liking a children's toy too much. I feel strongly that should be countered. Even if they aren't the majority, they sure as hell act like it and repeat how great it is that every single trans woman except velvetvexations alone agrees with them.

To be absolutely clear, I do not think I'm the only non-weird trans woman! That is just literally what they say about me! They may be the minority now but that frog is boiling.

IRL transmascs are forced out of spaces and talked over when they're let in because mascuwinity is scawy, No doubt transfems have similar problems because some spaces are TERF-y, but that problem is exacerbated when social media is filled with TRF rhetoric because it gets drilled into people's heads they need to be worried about that, and I don't think "touch grass" is a good response to that.

Hell, what if someone touches grass and then they do happen to end up having people be transandrophobic/exorsexist/intersexist/etc. to them? "Oh, well, that didn't count, try again somewhere else, I prommy that's not Normal."

It's all about volume. I feel very, very strongly that volume is necessary here, to combat the feeling that that radical feminism is around every corner and help people feel at ease and know trans women are with them.

Why i believe Gojo could come back

This chapter left us in a devastated state and was absolutely uncalled for, but I personally believe this isnt the end of the strongest sorcerer. There are several reasons as to why (These are just opinions, I could be wrong in certain areas AND personal feelings might make an occassional appearance.)

LEAKS:

This whole panel was obviously made for a reason. And we dont see gojo making a decision. Considering the fact that this is literally THE Gojo Satoru, he's more likely to choose north since there's numerous things left as plot holes. We'll get to that.

Here in this page, he mentions that Toji should've cut his head off to actually kill him. In the leaks, whats cut off is his upper body but not the head! I still can't quite wrap my head around RCT but lets say he's not able to heal himself. You know who can and who would? Yuta and Shoko

Now moving on

"Gojo then bids farewell to everyone." If hes truly gone then why would he be bidding farewell to the fallen comrades? If he's dead then isn't he supposed to stay in the afterlife with them?

What if Kashimo is going in to distract Sukuna while Shoko and Yuta can heal Gojo?

Now think about this. Gojo is gone, Shoko doesnt fight and who are all left? A bunch of sorcerers who are literally under 20, need guidance and we havent really seen any panel where they actually plan how they're going to go about in the whole battle. Gojo isnt a want, hes a NEED, a NECESSITY.

Remember, Toji who was dead long ago pretty much appeared out of nowhere in Shibuya Arc LMAO so- yes

Theres no way Gojo would be left sealed for 3 whole years, brought him back just to kill him off in the most disrespectful way possible.

He wanted to get rid of the higher ups

On to the other aspects of why killing off Gojo was a bad idea. We barely ever saw what happened to him, and an off screen death to the so called strongest sorcerer is just senseless. Gojo is a fan favourite. People started watching the show for Gojo (myself included) and there's a high possibility of multiple people dropping the manga since he isn't even there anymore.

The ending could take a turn for the worse considering the fact that Sukuna is just overpowered and Kenjaku hasn't done anything as of now. Unless there's some heavy plot armor I dont think the students even stand a chance against Sukuna and Kenjaku. Both outcomes- the students and others emerging as victors or sukuna emerging as a victor could make the ending absolutely terrible and this might as well top AOT for being the manga with the most disliked ending.

Gojo Satoru is the mentor for multiple; for Yuji, Nobara, Megumi, Yuta, Maki, Panda, Toge and the third years and its necessary for them to have someone to teach them. It is one of Satoru's wishes to see his students surpass him, which can happen only when he's there since there's nobody else who is actually capable of teaching them and leading them into the world as actual graduated sorcerers.

So Gojo dying will make the manga take a turn for the worse. Killing him off in the middle makes absolutely no sense and is just plain bad writing. People are prolly gonna kill me for this but lets admit the truth. Hyping this battle, building up tension just to finish him off screen is NOT good writing.

Anyways. There is factual proof of Gojo potentially making a return. Maybe at a cost, like him losing his power, losing his "strongest" title or anything else. He may not even be the same anymore but honestly as long as he's back, I'm fine.

It happened previously, and could happen again.

Satoru Gojo may not be the strongest and the honoured one, but may be reborn as a newer version of himself after getting humbled. Lotuses, as mentioned above symbolise rebirth, which is why i believe this is not the end.

A small bit of advice for gojo fans: Go watch haikyuu or highschool babysitters as a form of self care <3

The Phantom Rider, Sonic's "hero" status, and Sonic's love for his friends: a poorly put-together analysis

so, ive seen a non-zero amount of people say that Sonic taking on the alter ego of the Phantom Rider is out of character for him, and my knee-jerk reaction was to disagree (though, im biased, because i adore the Phantom Rider). but then i thought about the why of it all -- why does it not feel out of character for Sonic to disguise himself to cause chaos?

part 1: Sonic will break the rules

well, first of all, Sonic doesnt really care too much about being a hero. he helps people because he wants to, not because its expected of him. weve all seen those satbk cutscenes reposted to hell and back, so let me be the millionth to do so

when Merlina tells Sonic that, upon taking Caliburn, he would become the villain in everyones eyes, he shrugs it off. and even later, when Gawain tries to talk him down from battling Merlina, Sonic dismisses the idea that hes doing this out of some kind of chivalry or duty, that he fights because he wants to.

there are many other instances of Sonic not really caring about rules or social conventions, and gladly breaking them if it means he can save people (dude literally runs from cops in sa2), but its never directly stated as explicitly as it is in satbk.

so, Sonic doesnt care about being a hero, and doesnt care about being a villain in other peoples eyes if he knows hes doing whats right. youd think with this facet of his character, him actively disguising himself as the Phantom Rider would be antithetical to this point, right? if he doesnt care about being seen as a villain, then he shouldnt have to mask his identity. its a fair conclusion to come to, but it also ignores what i think is one of Sonic's core personality traits;

part 2: Sonic loves his friends a lot

its strange to me that not a lot of people bring this up, because he does! from "and Amy... take care of yourself," to "I'll have you smiling by the end of this," Sonic just genuinely loves his friends to death, and doesnt want to sabotage them.

if he runs out there to cause chaos during the clean sweepstakes, completely unmasked? everyone who knows a single thing about Sonic will start to assume bad things about the Restoration. just because Sonic has good intentions doesnt mean hes above the rules, and acting like he is can put people he cares about (namely Jewel and the Diamond Cutters) at the mercy of public opinion.

he cant act like hes above the rules, especially when hes directly associated with the Restoration (even if hes not a part of it) during the clean sweepstakes.

(id also like to point out that here, Sonic doesnt even consider it a bad thing to be completely and utterly chaotic and disruptive at first; Tails has to remind him its a bad idea)

and understandably so! we see how everyone reacts to seeing Sonic as the Phantom Rider, especially Tangle -- its a tough pill to swallow, especially without all the context involved. to an outsider, it looks like Sonic is just trying to sabotage the clean sweepstakes because hes being a sore loser (or, really, any other number of malicious reasons)

but, really, i think that the point im trying to make is summed up best by Amy and Sally (even though its in Archie)

thats just not how they do things. they dont want to cause necessary chaos or danger just for the hell of it, and they certainly dont want to associate the Restoration with that sorta thing -- people look to the Restoration for hope, and while Sonic is associated with it during the clean sweepstakes, his hands are a bit tied. itd be a total dick move for him to basically throw his friends (and especially Jewel) under the bus like that, and he knows it.

Sonic may not care about his reputation in other peoples eyes, but he cares greatly about how his actions affect his friends.

part 3: the conclusion

its easy to assume that, based on how lax Sonic is with rules and social conventions, him disguising himself just to cause a distraction for Amy and Tails to get attention off of them would be out of character. but, based on the circumstances, i think that it makes enough sense given the context for him to take the route that he does.

cross and fresh (in my mind) are side characters outside of the “main” conflict that would be dream vs nightmare. of course they are main characters of their respective stories but focusing solely on this, they arent Necessary for those stories really. theyre both “add-ons” in that sense

cross himself, with xtale and underverse, really separates him from the multiversal conflict and fresh is also more of a fun cameo than he is as an active participant in the story.

when i first put cross and fresh together im going to be honest i forgot about their first interactions within underverse and just moved forward based on the assumption that cross would be uncomfortable by fresh (based on fresh info, where it’s stated that most people find it odd?) and that fresh’s curiosity and respect towards cross for doing what he did for the sake of “survival” is what drew them together.

cross found comfort later in interacting with someone that wasnt directly related to his internal conflict and was also made more comfortable by the fact that fresh didnt judge him for it. or at least not openly. fresh may have teased him for things in the past or annoyed cross to a point but it wasnt overwhelming or made him mad

fresh on his end would just? find cross fascinating. liked to tease him and see his reactions. found the way cross behaved fascinating too. just liked studying the guy

theyre are friends!!! to me!!! doesnt matter how they meet up but theyre FRIENDS!! BUDDIES!! and i love them a lot

now riddle can be stickler about these types of things but if you plead him enough, he can't help but give in. he does have habits and a pretty strict bedtime routine for himself- you're going to have to help him loosen up just a little bit. he can't help but feel his heart melt when he sees you cozied up in pajamas.

he does like to get some schoolwork done before rest because he's a nerd or whatever, but you can at least do your own thing and chat with him while he does. it's mostly you rambling and talking about something stupid the trio did earlier that day with him humming in acknowledgement or him shaking his head with a small smile of amusement.

though he chastises others for staying later than necessary... he will indulge in a few games with you, something like card games, he only knows a few so you may need to explain how some of them work. he mostly sees ace showing others them, but he doesn't play much himself. but riddle loves puzzles the most and he wants to be able to do something together rather than compete each other.

at the end of it once you initiate holding (ya he's the little spoon what about it...) him he's hesitant but turns into a puddle of mush. and please play with his hair, he'd hold onto you tighter. also, you know how once you get sleepy and overtired you open up easily? yeah that's kind what ends up happening. it's a good thing though because that just means he feels safe with you.

hes the one to suggest you staying, during a more tired and overworked state as you came to visit him after mostro lounges hours in his office he turns clingy (i mean more so than usual) and doesn't want to let you go. if you even try to get up when hes holding onto you with his eyes closed he'll hold you tighter.

you only laugh and help each other to get ready for bed. he was curious when he saw any kind of skincare you do, he does that too but he still doesnt know that much with these things in the land. so now there's even more perks to staying over because now you get: azul without glasses and him begrudgingly letting you put a facemask on him. he was weirded out and even found them to be silly look, but boy was he THANKFUL when he felt his skin right after. not to mention he has a newfound love for you putting the skincare on for him, your touch gives him chills, but he wants more.

i bet you his bed is literally the softest thing ever... like you're sleeping well tonight. azul has got the silk sheets and everything. its nice until you feel how naturally cold azul's body is when he touches you and puts his arms around you. he prefers laying in a position where you're facing each other, your faces are practically right in front of one other. azul likes to rub your arm while hes trying to sleep... very soothing and comforting would recommend.

it's actually pretty common for you to decide to spend the night over rather than going all the way back to ramshackle. jamil isn't exactly complaining either he wants all his time with you. it's so pretty to see him with his hair all the way down and of course he wants you to play with it when he's holding you. he enjoys it when you offer to brush it for him.

you two usually play a lot of games with each other, cards, board games or mancala which he enjoys the most with you. he doesn't go easy on you even if it's supposed to be a simple and chill time together because hes a stupid bastard like that. he'll give some airy laugh and say "you probably shouldn't have done that" pointing out how you couldve done better against him.

if you're feeling hungry he'll cook something so good up for the two of you. he doesn't mind whether or not you join in cooking it to or watching him and chatting with him as he whips something that you just know smells heavenly up.

once you two are ready for bed though jamil prefers to hold you against him. he sometimes loves just burying his face into the crook of your neck, he'll kiss you lightly here and there too, its actually very sweet.

oh gosh any sleepover with these two are so fun. there's literally so much to do with them and so much technology to make use of in the dormitory that its insane. but of course, you guys spend A LOT of your time that night playing videogames together. that and idia pulls out his favorite board game and him and ortho are like a beast at those it feels so unfair. don't let those brothers team against you.

you get special privileges with them, so you get access to all of idias candy but you're also going to be eating what his diet consists of for the night- sodas and microwavable meals like ramen, of course.

surprisingly, you’ll end up seeing a more talkative side of idia— I mean he feels comfortable around you and if you bring up any of his interests, he can get really passionate about it.

okay but I totally feel like ortho lowkey has a lot of knowledge and dirt on the students around him. so, if you're want to know anything interesting about your classmates ask him, he doesn't really have any qualms on sharing that to you, he does it with such an innocent smile too as he happily shares the drama.

you and idia would probably pass out some point, watching a movie or playing some videogame, sprawled out on the floor, thankfully you won't have to deal with ignihydes cold hard floors because idia has a whole collection of blankets and pillows to share with you.
