people arguing about whether or not it’s problematic to ship ian and poppy, and whether or not it’s problematic for be vocally against shipping ian and poppy, in the main tag. meanwhile i am looking for crumbs of danarachel because the entire fanbase has decided they’re boring. but danarachel date night though. danarachel workplace conflict of interest. danarachel adopting a dog. so many beautiful things happening so far in season 4
#they low key are boring tbh 😔#i love them though and i love their chemistry#i think the writers decided to focus more on their own plot arcs (especially for dana) than their relationship#but while s1 is peak danarachel unresolved yearning — i do think they’re the most interesting they’ve ever been as characters by s4#and there’s so much potential for messiness in the work/life balance of their relationship that they’re setting up#we’ll see if there’s payoff!! (because there wasn’t that much payoff to the berkeley plot line……)#but i have faith in this season#tbh i do understand that some of the other sickos in this show have more fuel for fan engagement#especially like speculation and unresolved tension and toxicity etc#but sometimes istg people are just making excuses why they don’t care about lesbians as much as men tbqh#i will say it’s funny to see people in the tag defend poppy x ian because ‘if it were an mlm ship it would be so popular in the fandom’#and like. honestly true lol.#but i will say part of why i don’t like the idea of poppy x ian is bc i’m SICK of straight relationships everywhere all the time#in literally everything i watch m/f friendships devolve into romantic relationships#you’ve gotta take your fandom glasses off sometimes#i don’t think it’s Problematic in fact i think it’s interesting to think about OUTSIDE of canon#but i will be very disappointed if it happens in the show#anyway i’m not even putting this in the main tag bc it’s 4 am and idk if this even makes sense rn#but i will send it out into the void#i will post some danarachel shit when i have time since i have to do everything myself around here 🙄

hot take: the problem with doctor who is NOT that they brought billie piper back, it is NOT that ncuti left early, it is NOT that 15 never faced a dalek or a cyberman, and it is CERTAINLY NOT that it’s ’too woke’
the problem with doctor who is that they have forgotten how to engage an audience without utterly confusing them. if i were a writer, this is what i’d change:
1. i would lower the stakes
my biggest issue with dw in recent years is that the stakes are always SO high - it’s always ‘we need to sort this out or else the ENTIRE UNIVERSE WILL END. this rarely happened at the start of nuwho. of course, there were instances where galaxies and universes were at stake, but there were also plenty of instances where the doctor solves issues to A. save his own skin, B. save his friends, and C. to save smaller populations of people and/or generally do what is morally right.
prime example is in new earth. the world isn’t really at stake, he has a couple of objectives: get cassandra to piss off, free the test subjects, stop the infections from spreading. he doesn’t spend the hour worrying that if he doesn’t help then the world will end, he sees a problem that’s morally corrupt and he solves it for the sake of that group. the payoff is just as good, and actually IMPROVES the payoff for episodes where a bit more is at stake, like the poison sky, for example.
2. i would stop plots from spilling over across seasons
i’d like to remind everyone that, although there were things that kind of linked into each other and were mentioned again, generally for the first 4 seasons of (new) doctor who, an overarching issue was built up, climaxed, and resolved throughout a single season. for example: bad wolf in s1. this has gotten worse and worse over time but has honestly been a problem since rtd1 ended, and for some reason when he came back it got WORSE than it’s ever been!!! there’s just way too much overspill across seasons, things even span accross different doctors more recently which is just too much at times. when it’s little things it doesn’t matter, but it’s not. again, this has been an issue before this finale, but this finale is a good example since there were a hundred and one loose ends before he regenerated. when nuwho began, they literally stated each regen would be treated as a soft reboot and their neglect of that has been a downfall.
3. i’d make doctor who dirty and grungy again
it’s too clean futuristic ultra modern sci-fi these days. the tardis doesn’t look like he stole it. what happened to those fun tardis scenes where the entire thing would shake as it took off and landed? why is everything so light and clean? it should be dim and cozy and imperfect.
4. i’d make the companions’ family members more prominent and interesting characters again
doesn’t take much explaining, really. picture jackie tyler, now picture carla sunday. who has a stronger presence and personality in your head and why is it jackie tyler? (there’s bound to be someone who disagrees and that’s fine but i don’t rlly want to hear about it tbh)
5. i’d re-inject some british whimsy
please don’t mistake this as me saying doctor who ‘isn’t british’ or something weird and gammon-y like that, i love when dw explores different cultures, the story and the engine was one of my highlights last season, i just mean like - let him save the world with a jammy dodger again. let him be brought back to life by a good cup of tea. it makes it enjoyable.
there are lots of things, but those are my main ones.
EDIT: thank you to everyone who has weighed in on this - i’ve found it really interesting to see everyone’s perspectives on this because honestly i could talk for king and country about it, but also i just wanted to say that it makes me kind of sad that one of my only negative posts about doctor who is my most popular post :( if you’re reading this, it’s your sign to do something positive today, if i can help to make just one person’s day better then that’s a win to me :)

Silco SO should've haunted the narrative in s2 I can't stress this enough. Like, we knew Vander, Mylo and Claggor only for 3 episodes, but their presence was felt aaaall throughout s1. And now you're telling me that a PRIMARY ANTAGONIST of s1, a leader of Zaun, Jinx's dad and The person who started the negotiations with Piltover for Zaun's independence only got a couple of mentions?? Which aren't even relevant to the plot or character motivations??? Are you LEGIT FOR REAL kidding me???? I still can't believe this happened chat.
He's literally a part of the main cast. He literally was present in every single episode of s1. And again, given just How Much was tied directly to him his death should've had just. Massive consequences. For almost every single character. And yet.
My honest reaction to this information:

i'm gonna put this under a read more because it's gonna be long but...yeah [scratches head] if YOU the person reading this looooved this season and see nothing you didn't like about it, thats awesome and i'm happy for you. i also liked things in this season, and also its normal to be able to critique things you like, love and light <3 its literally just television
generally, yeah, i found myself disappointed with it. i think the writing this season, both the dialogue and then the actual character/world writing, fell flat and/or seemed like it was completely incongruous with the characters and world that we had seen in season 1. i think something i really appreciated about season 1 is that yes, mark was our main character and the lens we got introduced to both the inside and outside world, but both felt so much BIGGER than just him.
season 2, the entire plot and world and characters bend and contort to make mark like, the center of the universe lol. it's kind of ridiculous, the extent to which the world revolves around him now. it makes the world feel SOOO small. parts of my favorite worldbuilding aspects are seeing how the outside world feels about severance--i think the part where we see how working as a severed employee makes it almost impossible to work anywhere else is great! and in concept i like seeing other towns that have been devastated by lumon's industrialization, though i don't love the execution that we got. so like...everything lumon does is about mark? ALL of it? i know we don't know exactly how long lumon has been operating but like...they've been working on this stuff for longer than two years, lol. like, how many files have dylan completed? irving? petey? that girlie who wrote the lexington letter? is all of their work literally meaningless? like i get that there were people before gemma who failed the tests and they died, sure, but what about when mark started working there? what about the files that irving started and didn't finish, why don't they care about those? ohhhh right, because that's not the one that mark's working on. i get that it'd be a big deal if they got it to work fully once, but surely they'd want to make it work AGAIN, right??? like a science experiment?? i just wish we got like, A nod to other people on the testing floor, because i think the implication is that all of them are working on files connected to…different people, but maybe they're all just different versions of gemma?
honestly all of the innie stuff this season just felt so…idk, aimless? it feels like parts of the building only exist when the writers want them to, and just generally are not interested in exploring anything outside of the romantic aspects for all of these characters. like sure, after the season 1 finale, their asses are not gonna wanna work (EXCEPT FOR WHEN THEY DO? TO MOVE THE PLOT ALONG?), but where's the camaraderie? what about all those other people in O&D, they literally export things to the testing floor, maybe they know about gemma? fundamentally i think the thing that's the most frustrating about innie mark is that they keep telling us that he doesn't care about gemma. which, sure, outie gemma, he doesn't have that same connection with as helly, whatever. but also, he DOES care about her, he literally knows that that's ms casey and that lumon was just going to do what they always do when they fire people????? like s1 mark cared soooo much about his coworkers, ALL OF THEM, even the ones that weren't there anymore—seeing petey and then ms casey get removed was like, a HUGE deal and vital to his growth as a character!!!! and the way that they constructed this whole season basically to remove everyone that isn't mark and helly by the end. lol. i'm honestly shocked that they didn't make a new version of the desk that was just two chairs, like dylan was just excluded from the finale except for when they needed him to come in and hold the door against mr. milchick. again. lol
i don't inherently have a problem with exploring the romantic stuff, i think that could have been done well, but i just don't think it was. and that's primarily because, i think the writing this season for helly was ass! they took away her agency and subjugated her to be just the love interest for mark! especially with the finale, i just feel like the helly i know would've been like mark, what are you doing??? go?!? like she wants to take down lumon, THAT's what will take down lumon! like whatever, mark made the choice that he did, but helly playing along with it makes no fucking senseee. like they want us to think that it's the same ol helly we know and love, they give us crumbs of her anger, like when she's rallying the marching band people or whatever, but again, only when it's plot convenient. WHY WOULD SHE NOT ATTACK JAME? he's like 90???? and helly doesn't like this man???? she has nothing to lose???? fucking THROW something at him helly!!!! the helly that tried to chop her fingers off and hang herself and gave that speech in the s1 finale is not in the room with us. and i don't mean this in a way where i think it's helena again, it's not. they've just completely fumbled her character because they want mark and helly to be together at all costs. and honestly, i think it's so reductive to make this show just about ships, but textually it feels like that's what they want us to do, and i think that's sad. again, it makes the show feel so SMALL, when the world within it used to feel so BIG and like we would want to learn more about it. i care about mark and helly--before they kissed!! i think it was rewarding to see the ways they challenged each other and grew as people!! them as a romantic thing could work but they haven't put in the work to MAKE it work. and, it feels like of redundant even to say, but i do think it's fucking ridiculous to write a story where we get kissing and fucking for allllll the straight characters and then the one gay couple doesn't even get a kiss before separating them completely and writing irving out of the show, basically. like what are we in, hayes code era television?
but yeah, the information they chose to reveal vs what they didn't was also frustrating. i honestly wish they revealed less! there's so much TELLING this season. it feels like they think we're stupid (which, i can't speak for the entire population watching the show, maybe some people literally do need mark to look at the camera and explain everything, idk). like there's sooo much clever storytelling in the first season that just, completely gets snuffed out from overexplaining. i understand in the finale that oMark needs to tell iMark about why he did all of this but like, WE as the audience already know??? we don't need to see this?? and cobel confirming stuff i feel like we already knew about how the numbers work and like, i just don't knowwww. like you can just show me it, i was picking up on it. like we know about the four tempers, you show it to us all the time, cobel having to look dead in the camera and explain it just made me feel like there was a better way we could've done this. i do think some stuff benefits from a "hard" confirmation. like i'm glad they confirmed the helena thing, BECAUSE it backs up and supports all of the lovely and subtle things they had already shown to prove that it WAS helena! like i've known since the first episode LOL, so they do KNOW how to do subtle storytelling. and i think the gemma episode was great, i loved seeing her as a character and thought it gave her so much depth. but again, i think allll of the explaining they do this season not only snuffs out the fun of speculating on the viewing end, but from a writing perspective it just kind of writes them into a corner. i think they're focused too much on making these elaborate set pieces and events take place without thinking of how they fit together, not only on like a writing/episodic level but just the world of lumon at large.
i think a great way they showed story in the first season is through the paintings, and through irving and burt bonding over the paintings! like it not only establishes the lore of kier and then we get to learn more about them as characters through their reactions to the paintings. the paintings this season, honestly, were weak, they were so heavy handed. love and light to whoever painted them, but they were nottt doing the job for me.
(this is a small thing, but like…the intake questionnaire asks them to "name a US state or territory," so they KNOW that delaware is a state. so why would they think the equator is a building? again its just like. a cutesy moment for mark and helly to banter but they could've done it in a way that isn't contradictory to like, our understanding of what information crosses over the sever and what does not).
i keep thinking about the ORTBO, and it just seems fucking CRAZY to me that they aren't freaking out about SEEING THE SKY? BREATHING FRESH AIR? FEELING FIRE? SLEEPING?? WASN'T THE WHOLE THING THAT THEY COULDN'T FALL ASLEEP???? i guess my impression of how the chip works is that the technology doesn't know how to handle when they enter a subconscious/asleeep state, so the innie and outie memories begin to bleed together, hence why dozing would be a bad thing on the job. but again, they clearly had this idea of how they wanted irving to reveal that it's helena in the waterfall, and yes, i did enjoy the spectacle of the episode, but its another example of how they'll build these moments and only focus on what they want to see. like there's so much interesting stuff that they could explore and just choose not to, because (usually) it doesn't involve mark, or mark and helly.
also, i'm just gonna say it, i feel like the writing for the women this season all was kinda bad! it's, again, a byproduct of the world revolving around mark now. reghabi is brought into the story when mark needs her, and cast aside when he doesn't want her anymore. devon has been completely reduced to mark's lackey, like i guess ricken and the baby are fucking fine or whatever??? because she only exists when mark is around, and her only job is caring about mark (which obviously yes, they're siblings, of course they care—but s1 devon had a life outside of mark as well). cobel is only brought back into the story to explain to mark how cold harbor works. i said this before but honestly i like the concept of her little solo episode, though the execution wasn't great, because at least she was doing something on her own (except for when she needs that guy to help her. heaven forbid a woman does something of her own accord without a man to help). and again, helly is completely flanderized to be mark's love interest. i think there's a way to have mark and helly be together and them be their own people, but for the length of the season they did not have the proper time to unpack all the shit from the ORTBO episode so everyone just…conveniently gets over it very quickly, like in the span of a day. like i do think it's a jump to go from "i don't trust you, are you even you?" to missionary under plastic tarps that quickly, i'm sorry. and i think even gemma suffers from this fate as well. i think with hers it makes more sense, like she fucking loves her husband, but i wish she was given opportunities to like…want things for herself, too. like she hasn't been outside in two years! i bet she misses her job, her students, her family, devon, ricken, like anyone outside of mark? but she has to be the tragic love interest that can't be with mark but can't run away from mark, either. she's reduced to set dressing for mark and helly by the end.
they constructed this season i think, with the hopes and knowledge that they'll likely get a season 3. which yes, we know now that it's been confirmed and approved or whatever, but they didn't know that when making season 2, and it feels like no one got a full character arc. it's all start and no follow through. we've had the same "mr. milchick experiences racism in the workplace" moment like what, five, six times, and yet we haven't even started to see him DO something about it yet? like sure he told mr. drummond to eat shit, but then to play along with the minstrel show cold harbor shit, they just didn't care about giving that plot line any action so it'll just get brushed along to season 3. (and while there's intentional commentary about race in the show, it also feels like there's unintentional consequences to their writing choices that upholds the whiteness. like, natalie is just forgotten about, reghabi is dropped as soon as mark doesn't want to play with her anymore, ms. huang barely gets to do anything before being written off and sent away, and yes, i do think having gemma suffer as mark and helly skip away is part of it. it leaves a bad taste in my mouth, sorry!). i think dylan is maybe the closest we get to an interesting arc, and i enjoy the inclusion of his wife, but even he's reduced to JUST this story, only getting to talk to mark or helly when the writers need him to, i guess. and the stuff with burt and fields is so nothing, like it feels like it should be going somewhere but they're just leaving it open for season 3 (i guess??? even though it seems like irving isn't going to be in it at all, so why would we be following burt and fields??? and also don't even get me started on how the outie irving stuff is just NOT EXPLORED AT ALL. like whatever sure who the hell cares, sorry for wanting to see that go somewhere or whatever).
it's too early for full reintegration to happen so, we'll just finish that in season 3. (then why introduce it so early in season 2? ohhh right, we need cliffhangers to end every episode on). it almost feels like they don't have faith that people will keep watching without introducing these dramatic moments, but it's all just gasps of breath, there's no actual momentum. like, i've already watched the first season, you don't need to bait me with the prospect of seeing meaningful progression and then take it away from me when the next episode starts. the structure of how episodes speak to each other is that they…don't? like obviously i don't need every episode to pick up on the exact moment the last left off, but the timeline of this season is just soooo strange. the first two episodes are in the same span of time, and then there's gemma and cobel's episodes back to back…it genuinely just feels like they didn't consider the season as a whole which, considering how much money and time it took to make it happen, makes no sense.
and to continue on the timeline aspect, it feels so confusing as to how much time has really passed. it feels like the wanted the structure of the first season, but the pacing mechanic of the first season (working up to the end of the quarter to get to the waffle party) makes the pacing of the second feel even worse. like a.) mark's completed like 3 files a quarter (if we assume he's worked there for 8 quarters, i.e. two years), so making THIS file the super special final one truncates the possible time by at least a third.but then also, b.) he's been at like 95% complete since like, episode 5..? again, i just think it should've been considered more during the planning stages. and it kind of boggles my mind that the creative team views the marching band in this finale to be analogous to the waffle party in s1 when, it's way closer to the music dance experience? (they said this in the like behind the scenes for the finale ep). and in that regard, it really does kind of feel like a retread that doesn't work as well because, again, it's all about mark! especially after the shit with the kier statue, why would mr. milchick play along with the song and dance, like it just feels like they wanted to use tramell tillman's dance experience again, and they wanted to use the colored lights again. he could've just stood by the door to make sure mark and helly stayed there, which was obviously the goal of having all those people there. and yeah, i get the work is mysterious and important or whatever, but the implication that they have ALL OF THESE PEOPLE whos sole job is to be a marching band makes no fucking sense, i'm sorry. i find it hard to play along with the worldbuilding, again it makes lumon seem like its run by like dr. doofenshmirtz or something, it's so cartoony. like are they a global and successful company, or are they incompetent and leave gaping holes for their employees to undo everything? this is THE MOST IMPORTANT DAY IN LUMON HISTORY and they couldn't…shut the door to MDR like they had before? the goat sacrifice room is directly outside the exports hall door? the music dance experience works so well as a catharsis moment because everyone has their own shit going on, and we get to see the guy who hasn't really disobeyed yet (dylan) finally snap, and we see the others come and support him as a TEAM. it's just spectacle for us, the viewer. and especially the thing where they make the panels with mark's face on it—HE CAN'T SEE IT???? i don't need fan service winking moments like that, i dunno, that just annoyed me lol.
anyway, i feel like i have more to say probably but i gotta go do things so, i'm gonna leave it here. in conclusion, i'm missing my friends from s1 MDR sooo so bad, i feel like i haven't seen them this season at all. i did like parts of this season, but overall it was not what i was hoping it would be. (i don't even really KNOW what i wanted it to be, and of course it doesn't matter what i "want," but i feel like what i "want" lined up with what they wanted to do explore with season 1 so…maybe that's where the dissonance is coming from). and whereas at the end of s1, where i left it being like "where are they going to go from here?? (as in, theres so many possibilities", this season finale has left me asking "…where are we gonna go from here?" because i'm left like, inherently incurious about the people we have left and the choices they've made. and, i feel like THEY (as in the executive team making it) must feel this way too, because apparently they've completely scrapped the writers room from this season and added on two new showrunners. good luck to whoever that executive story editor is LOL

Might be controversial but I like enemies to lovers more than cold reader x Reid. But kinda similar as they both could have slow burn. If that’s something you would wanna write I’d love it 🥹
Tumblr media
PETTY & PETTIER. /spencer reid/
you knock over spencer’s favourite mug on your first day, big deal right? well, yes apparently.
s1!spencer enemy!reader 1.1k fluff? series masterlist. main masterlist.
a/n | minor break from cold!reader in the form of something that’s almost similar, guess i have a type— (also new blog theme means new fic layout so yay)
Tumblr media
Your first day at the BAU is going well—until it isn’t.
Gideon had been your mentor since your academy days, which is how you found yourself standing awkwardly in the bullpen of the Behavioural Analysis Unit, a cup of coffee in one hand and the weight of expectation on your shoulders. You were young, sure, but Gideon saw something in you. He was good at that.
What he wasn’t good at, apparently, was warning you about Dr. Spencer Reid.
It’s an accident—your elbow knocks the mug off the counter before you even realise it’s there. The ceramic shatters against the tile floor, coffee splattering everywhere. You freeze, mortified.
“Are you serious?”
You turn toward the voice, already apologising. “Oh my God, I’m so sorry—”
You’ve read about him in your files before starting—youngest FBI recruit, three PhDs, literal genius. You expected someone…awkward, maybe. Soft-spoken. A little nervous.
What you didn’t expect was the sheer level of contempt in his expression as he stares down at the broken pieces of his mug like you just ran over his childhood dog.
“That was my favourite mug,” he says, voice flat.
“I—I didn’t mean to—”
“It was a limited edition.”
Oh, God. “I’ll buy you a new one.”
He scoffs. “You can’t buy a new one. It was a vintage 1997 Star Trek Voyager mug featuring—”
“Okay, Jesus, I get it.” You raise your hands in surrender. “I screwed up. It was an accident.”
Reid makes a noise that is, without exaggeration, a huff. Like an actual hmph sound. It’s so ridiculously childish that you’d laugh if not for the intensity of his stare.
Then, without another word, he turns on his heel and stalks away.
You watch him go, bemused, and then glance around. Elle and JJ exchange amused looks. Morgan grins. Gideon doesn’t seem to notice, which is so typical of him that it’s almost funny.
It’s fine, you think. He’ll get over it.
Except, Spencer does not get over it.
Over the next few weeks, you begin to notice it. The way Reid actively hates you.
At first, you assume it’s about the mug. But the way he glares at you when you so much as breathe near him? The way he sighs—loudly, dramatically—when Gideon assigns you both to work together? The way he outright avoids talking to you unless absolutely necessary?
No.
This isn’t about the mug.
This is a personal vendetta.
And honestly? If Reid wants to be petty, you can be pettier.
The war starts small.
Reid insists on taking the seat farthest from you in the briefing room? You get there earlier the next day and steal his spot.
He gives you pointed looks every time you mess up a minor detail in a case summary? You start correcting his grammar in reports.
He spends five minutes explaining a concept you already understand? You interrupt with, “Actually, I already knew that.”
The others notice.
Morgan looks between the two of you with pure amusement. “Okay. What’s going on with you two?”
“What?” you ask innocently.
Reid scowls. “Nothing.”
JJ and Elle exchange looks. Hotch sighs, rubbing his temple like he can already feel the migraine forming.
Morgan points between you. “No. No, there’s something going on. Because every time one of you speaks, the other looks like they’re plotting murder.”
“We’re fine,” you say, just to be petty.
“We’re not fine,” Reid snaps.
You smirk. “Wow, you sound upset.”
“You are infuriating.”
“You started it.”
Reid glares at you. “You started it.”
“You started it by hating me for no reason.”
The team watches this unfold like a ping-pong match.
“Okay, pause,” Elle interrupts. “Reid, why do you hate her?”
Reid crosses his arms. “Because she’s annoying.”
“That’s not a reason.”
“That’s enough of a reason.”
If the team was hoping that addressing it would fix things, they were wrong.
Now, it’s open warfare.
You start signing him up for unsolicited newsletters—scientific journals, conspiracy theory blogs, cat fact subscriptions.
He moves all your pens exactly one inch to the left every morning.
You convince Garcia to change his ringtone to the Barney & Friends theme song.
He leaves a 32-page thesis on the mathematical improbability of you ever besting him in psychological warfare on your desk.
The team is exhausted.
“They’re children,” Morgan says one day, watching as you and Reid glare at each other across the bullpen.
“No,” JJ says, “because children eventually grow out of it.”
Hotch looks like he’s considering transferring one of you just to get some peace.
The final straw is when you steal his coffee.
Which—okay. Maybe that’s fair.
But in your defence, you had no idea that Reid had some sort of special coffee blend that he kept in the breakroom. You’d run out of yours, saw an unmarked bag, and figured it was free game.
Apparently, it wasn’t.
Because the moment you walk around Reid’s desk with your coffee in hand, he scowls.
“You stole my coffee.”
“Yeah,” you say, blowing the steam from your mug pointedly in his direction. “What’s your point?”
His nostrils flare.
Reid doesn’t say anything. He just glares.
It’s a declaration of war.
Fine.
Bring it.
The rest of the team stops trying to intervene.
At some point, it just becomes a fact of life: the sky is blue, the BAU travels a lot, and you and Spencer Reid hate each other.
It’s not even professional rivalry at this point—it’s just petty.
You and Reid spend an entire plane ride passive-aggressively moving your seats to be as far from each other as possible.
When he lectures about a statistic, you purposefully contradict him—even when you know he’s right.
He takes your favorite pen? You take his entire stack of files and put them back out of order.
He switches the sugar in your coffee for salt? You swap his sugar for salt and take the last cookie from the breakroom.
It’s stupid.
It’s childish.
And it’s the principle of the thing.
If Reid is going to be petty, you refuse to be anything less than pettiest.

Honestly I think the main thing I can’t look past in s2 is how it offers super simple solutions to incredibly complex and nuanced questions that s1 set up so intricately.
How can someone like Jinx ever become stable or well adjusted? Oh her hallucinations basically cease cuz she just becomes depressed and then before she can get over that brief period of apathy and go back to her psychotic self, she adopts a kid that basically brings Powder back. So the super crazy Jinx we expected to see after the cliffhanger of s1 never gets the chance to form! Isha serves as a plot device to avoid a complicated answer to Jinx’s mental issues and question of identity.
How can Vi and Jinx ever become sisters again after they’ve changed to much, is it even possible for them to reconcile? OH their dead dad comes back and reminds them of the good old days so we can ignore all the present and much more recent shit that has happened! And we’ll just really reaffirm that Jinx is Vander’s kid and not Silco’s after ep 4! This is the easy way out to the sister conflict, literally just reminding them that “oh yeah! We did used to be sisters!” And then Jinx can just die so we don’t need explore a complicated road to recovery that Jinx would have needed to embark on! Wow. What a cop out.
Will Zaun and Piltover ever be able to escape the cycle of violence that plagues them that is rooted in complex systemic oppression and inequality? Is violence the answers? Or will it only perpetuate more conflict? How can compromise come about with the rising extremism on both sides? How can Zaun and Piltover ever progress while acknowledging the horrors of the past, but still retaining optimism for the future? OH! Let’s actually just not even BOTHER exploring Piltover/Zaun at all!! They’ll team up to fight foreign 3rd enemy (literally foreign cuz Noxus is literally another nation interfering) and an incredibly simple exploration of forgiveness is the answer! Definitely not cliché as crap.
Complex questions, basic, uncomplicated answers. I simply wish the writers had chosen to prioritize themes and exploring interesting nuances more than big plot climatic style battle in the end. I see visions of nuance there, but they fall flat cuz of the fast pacing and what plots the story chose to prioritize, which don’t organically continue the setup from s1
And the season doesn’t do enough to properly explore these answer to justify them answering those questions. They use plot point through plot point to force the characters to where they need them to be without doing anything interesting with them to explore these complex themes from s1. and after speeding through all these arcs and themes they turn around and pretend like they perfectly answered these questions without putting in any of the work to bother exploring them

☾ jaime lannister x top m reader
𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘴𝘩0𝘵 ⛥ prince charming jaime lannister (s1 jaime) is my fav; also genuinely the first fic of mine where the pairing kisses lip to lip
𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘴 ⛥ 3.0k words
cw: long intro, lighthearted s*x, reunion s*x, soft, cheating, light incest (don't sue me, it's game of thrones, they're very distant cousins however many times removed) , calling your lover names playfully (bastard, asshole), more plot than porn (entire second part is s*x, but not focused on the s*x)
Tumblr media
"Did you grow up with boy-cousins, Lord Tywin? Sons of your father's bannermen, squires, stable boys."
"Of course."
"And you... never..?"
"No."
"Not once? Not in any way?"
"Never."
Tumblr media
You were never destined for anything.
You were born a Lannister, yes, but you were so far from the main line that you were set to inherit nothing. You were only a Lannister by name, long lines of second sons marrying outside of important houses over and over until your blonde locks were nothing but dirty.
Your father did not own a large sum of Lannister fortune. His greatest achievement was being the squire of one of Tywin's lesser brothers; but his brother never lead any wars, and so that was hardly a feat anyway.
When you were born, it seemed like you would follow in your father's footsteps. There was hardly anything Lannister about you.
Your greatest feat would probably be setting foot in Casterly Rock to shovel horse shit to and fro. At least then you'd get to admire your distant cousins, the glorious ones, the ones you'd use in your fantasies as the shoes you'd like to wear.
Except, one day you stole a sword and caught the eye of Tywin's lesser brother, the very same that your father had squired for. He showed you, in turn, to his brother, Tywin Lannister.
Under the Lord of Casterly Rock's eyes, you showed promise.
Before Jaime Lannister ever took up the sword with a purpose that wasn't "because daddy told me to", there was you in the training grounds as far as he could remember.
There was you, strong, barely a teen yet.
You became friends, then, under the sword. Tywin bid you an example for his son. As a boy, you were hardly fit to be an example, so instead you became friends.
Between his overzealous sister, his outcast brother, his jealous cousins and the frightened servants, you were the best friend he could ever have.
From friends, you became... not lovers, but something close. It was hardly romance, it was hormones, it was just boys being boys, and it was only fooling around. A kiss or two, sometimes longer, sometimes with tongue; playing at maturity.
With you, Jaime got a taste for breaking the rules and the thrill of sneaking out of his bedroom under the bright cast of moonlight. He got his first taste of romantic companionship, and he liked it.
You were only a couple years older then, but Jaime's dislike for letters caused him to be bound to the book for several hours a day, and so you were the stronger swordfighter.
He admired you. You were more literate than him, though most people are, and stronger, taller, more built, more worked.
You knew hardship and, as the heir to Casterly Rock, he didn't.
He got his first taste of hardship when you were summoned to become a King's Guard, and he did not like it.
Jaime had never begged before. "Don't go. Please, don't go."
And you had never denied him. "I must."
That's why, when you left for the King's Guard, he was left in despair. Despair caused impulse, and he fell back to his sister.
You did not send any ravens the years you were gone, so you grew apart. Jaime held some resentment too, for the first couple of years when he became a King's Guard, so you grew further apart.
He had his sister now, and she was a jealous woman.
Tumblr media
The older you grew, the more you thought of your little youthful escapades as just that, things of the youth, inconsequential to anything else of your now adult existance.
Jaime came around eventually.
He became the better swordsman. He was quite fine with letters, and stronger, taller, more discreet, more dutiful.
You were lovers once more, but only that. This time, you knew how to please a man, but again he was only learning. You pleased each other under the influence of wine, or maybe not. Maybe sometimes your minds were unobstructed, and instead, you were more truthful, softer... and some rare nights, you only talked, you shared heart-to-hearts.
But you weren't friends, not by actions. You did not talk often enough, freely enough, unguarded. You were just lovers.
Regardless, to Jaime, there was great comfort in knowing that you were somewhere in the Red Keep, still there for him, still alive. It was one of the things he fought to remember during his year-long journey back to King's Landing.
When you open your door to leave your chambers, you are quickly pushed back inside.
Jaime's there. He's different, but he's there, and he slams the door behind him. You take it as another moment where he seeks the comfort of your body, especially after what you heard had happened to him. The idea occurs naturally to you, even after a year apart.
You kiss him roughly, cupping his cheeks in your hands, because you've missed him.
Jaime breaths hard into the kiss. He's breathing hard in general, and it's more evident when he pushes you away.
You lose your footing in a daze and land on a chair. It'd be a great position, and you'd be quite excited in anticipation, if it weren't for the look on his face.
"Jaime?"
"You didn't come see me." He says, angrily. His arms are crossed, hands—hand folded over his inner elbow.
Standing before you is a shadow of the man Jaime once was. His hair is shorter, darker, his skin is tanner, he's got dark circles under his eyes. He looks worn.
This is a man who has gone through hell. This is a man going through his second war, a man who was held prisoner for a time, who had to kill his cousin, and who tracked through mud and shit to get back to his home. He was missing a bloody hand!
And you didn't go see him.
"No, I didn't." You sit up quickly, fixing the smirk on your lips to a neutral one. "I thought Cersei would keep you, or that you'd be busy recovering...or that our family would want to see you."
"Cersei saw me." Jaime said pointedly. The next moment, he's climbing onto your lap, bracketing your legs with his. "I saw Joffrey and Tommen. Myrcella is gone, and I just found out. Tyrion had his opportunity. Father wished to do nothing but scold me. I was recovering from my journey in my chambers for three days. You didn't come see me."
"I didn't... and now I see I have no excuse." You keep your eyes on him. Past his heavy lids and dark circles, his eyes are the same as you last saw them, a beautiful green.
"All I could think about was getting back to you." He says through gritted teeth, and though it was a lie, you would believe it. He shifts his hips to rub against your length, a subtle grind.
It loses all subtlety when he continues, over and over. Pleasure rises.
"You are." You say with shaky breaths, heavy enough to mirror his. Your eyes close instinctively, head tilted down to the source of your pleasure.
You haven't had him in a year. You miss him, his body. A brothel whore cannot compare.
"Look at me." His teeth are still gritted. He grasps your face with his hand, squeezing your cheeks in the pull to make you look at him.
"Jaime." You say, acknowledging him, looking at him once more.
He looks angry. It's in his gritted teeth and wide eyes and his heaving chest, it's in his words—but he's not violent, no, never to you.
You kiss him, lick into his mouth to urge his tongue to meet yours. His teeth separate, not with a screeching difficulty, but easily. It's almost familiar, the way his tongue feels against yours, the taste of his saliva.
You have known this man longer than you haven't. Perhaps he is missing a hand, perhaps he is wrinkled and older, but he is still the same man you tousled with in your youth.
You find yourselves eventually on the bed, like you have a hundred times before. You on your back, him on your lap.
Except this time it is not quite as swift, and this time he is struggling with the clasps of your armor.
"Let me."
"No."
You do it anyway. Jaime watches you sit up and he sighs. He thinks of himself as helpless, a mope of a man settled on your lap like a peasant sitting on the Iron Throne.
He sighs out of his nose once more, but to you, he only seems like a sad puppy. "Knights can hardly do this themselves. That's what squires are for. I'm sure you've never heard of a one-handed squire."
"That's not helping." Jaime huffs.
"Look," You say, with all the parts of your chest plate, shoulder parts and neck pieces off. You fix his arms around your neck, "you can still wrap them around here. That's all that matters, hm? All you need is to hold on tight enough."
"Asshole." Jaime says as he pushes you onto your back again, though there's a bit of a lift to his lips.
It's the third time he pushes you. "Pushy."
"Asshole." He repeats.
There's little else to remove after that, just the flowing scales covering your crotch that he removes easily with new determination, and your shin guards, but those won't obstruct the path to your dick.
He undoes the laces of your pants with two harsh tugs and then your cock is free to him. With the way he's looking at it like a meal, you're sure he's missed it.
"Do you still keep oil behind the curtains?" Jaime asks, already reaching behind the canopy's bedpost, where the curtain is usually wrapped securely around the flask.
"No." He looks disappointed then, for a moment. "At least it means I've been loyal to you?"
"It can just as well mean that you've only been visiting brothels." Jaime laughs, leaning his forearms on either side of your head to kiss you before you can protest.
You like this, it's easy; it's carefree and humorous. You can feel his smile against your lips.
He shifts his position to press his ass to your cock and grind against the length of it, swallowing your groan with his lips. You hardly noticed when he tugged off his own pants.
For a moment you think that might be how he gets you off, but then one of his arms leaves the mattress, and his fingers are gathering precum from the tip of your swollen head.
It sacrifices his balance, and you catch him before his full weight falls on you. "Bastard." You breathe out a laugh.
"What?" Jamie returns a grin, though it falls open just slightly when he stretches himself out with your precum as lubrication. Quite the sight.
"One journey from the North to King's Landing on foot, and suddenly you don't care for cleanliness?"
He winces slightly, "One, I was also tricked into drinking horse piss. Two, you're cumming inside sooner or later, it's not very different, is it?"
"One," You mirror with raised eyebrows, "what in the Seven Hells? Two, fair enough."
Holding up his thinner body with one hand is easy enough, and if it weren't, you'd have sacrificed the possibility of him falling onto you for the opportunity to hold his face.
You cup his cheek. In another time, a year ago, your fingernails would've been tickled by boyishly long hair. Now, his hair is only prickly.
"Will you grow it out again?"
Jaime thinks on it. He thinks about how it stuck to his face whenever it was dirty with muck or grime, about how easy it was to tug at his hair, how it was used to tug him backwards into horseshit or some other crazed punishment... but he also thinks about how much you liked it, how you often sweetly pushed it off his forehead when it stuck, how tugging at it did feel good in intimate situations such as this.
"I might." Is what he settles for, and he relishes the sight of your smile.
He's good at prepping himself and keeping a smug face. You've seen it thousands of times before, when he's tired of being ordered around and decided he needed to take control for once. You've seen him the other way around just as many times, quite willing to give up the reigns because he's just so tired.
There's just something about another person's hand.
"Oh..." Jaime moans as you push his hand away and replace his fingers with yours.
Furtheremore, you let him slump forward. You're almost—nay, you are cuddling in this way. Your legs even tangle. You've got him right on top of you, one hand over his back and the other prepping him, letting him just relax.
"That feel good?"
He's practically melting on top of you. It's rather funny how nonchalant he replies with the subtle nod of his head and, "Yeah, uh-huh."
You drag your other hand over his spine and up to hold the back of his head. "Tell me about your journey."
"Okay," He hums pliantly, "Robb Stark captured me in an ambush... which, though it cost me hell, is quite admirable for a boy born after the war. I spent several months travelling behind the army convoys as a prisoner, without a roof, without a floor. Just a stick in the mud and a shitty cage."
He recounts the journey while you prep him languidly like you have all the time in the world.
You don't have all the time in the world. You'll only have tonight, and perhaps the next night, thought it is quite unlikely. Before long, you're sure, Cersei will stop this grudge of hers and Jaime will be gone again, only crawling back after another lovers' quarrel.
"Are you listening?" Jaime suddenly asks, voice rather soft. He looks up at you, beautiful green eyes batting under his eyelashes. Yes, you're looking.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm listening." You say dismissively.
"Hold on a moment."
Jaime sits up to straddle you once more. You watch him go up all the way, eyes locked onto his. He's beautiful; different, worn, but still beautiful.
He shakes his head with a small laugh, "What are you looking at?"
You're so distracted with his face that you don't realize him sliding down onto your cock in one swift motion. "Fuck."
"Fuck is what you're looking at?" Jaime teases.
"Bastard."
"Ah, ah, ah," He tuts his tongue, hand on your abdomen as he rolls his hips. "you already used that one once. Be a little more creative, for once?"
You roll your eyes yet reply anyway, "Dickhead."
Jaime grins, "Better."
You settle a hand on his hip, helping guide his movements as well as make sure he doesn't lose his balance, what with the hand and all. It's... he's probably fine, but you can't help but be cautious.
You wrap your other hand on what remains of his wrist, almost as if to hold his hand. He notices the gesture.
His voice is soft when he says, "As I was saying?"
You nod your head, "As you were saying."
"About losing my hand... suppose I was way in over my head. I'd managed to convince that bastard of a man, Locke to leave lady Brienne untouched. I thought I could convince him to do more, to give me a decent meal and a fire, but instead, he convinced me that he was following along with my orders. Next moment, his men are pinning me down and he cuts my hand off himself. For the next months, he ties the bloody thing around my neck and I can't even take it off."
Grueling business to talk about while he rides you, but you've never held off from venting during these moments. It makes release all the sweeter, releasing your problems as well as your pent up sexual frustrations.
It's soft, all of it. The hand holding, the slow pace and desire to clench around every part of your cock, the eye contact, the easy way he tells you the entire story without sparing details to save his dignity.
"I should've gone after you." You sigh, kissing his bandaged wrist.
"No, you're a King's Guard, not a foot soldier." Jaime shakes his head, heaving a sigh. "You–"
You flip him over easily. "I should've gone after you." You say, and it's almost like you have authority over him, leaning over his body. You do, really, you're in control of your pleasure now.
Speechless, Jaime doesn't fight you. "Yeah."
You start up slow again, but quickly build up in chase of his pleasure. Jaime breathes out a shaky sigh, breaths growing heavier with each thrust.
"I'm sorry for all you've been through," Jaime has half the mind to protest, but you give him a look and continue, "and I wish I could kill every man that wronged you myself. I'm glad for Catelyn Stark, and glad for lady Brienne. I'm also happy that you're back, back to me. Happier than women leaving Maester Pycelle's room."
He wraps his arms around your neck, like you'd showed him earlier, and his legs around your waist. He's holding you close, for comfort, as if to make sure you're really there.
It's silly to do so. You're in front of his very eyes, your cock is fucking him open, and you're very much real.
"I'm happy I'm back with you." He mirrors with a grin, "Happier than even your cock is, I'm sure."
You kiss. No teeth, no tongue, just him and you holding it for as long as possible.
Maybe he will go back to Cersei. You think it almost inevitable; but at least you're sure there's a little part of him that loves you dearly, even if you might never admit it to each other.
For tonight, he's yours.
Yours to lavish, yours to pleasure, yours to fuck.
Yours to love.

I'm going to be honest: I think one of the ways you fix season 2 is by getting rid of Warwick
Act 2 was more or less entirely dedicated to Warwick, a new character who really isn't that new bc he's actually Vander from s1. Despite the fact that he plays a heavy role in the act, his character isn't explored at all. Warwick is used in act 2 for the main purpose of reuniting Jinx and Vi. The sisters end up basically ignoring all their problems and differences and become family again solely due to Warwick's presence. If you get rid of Warwick, then the sisters don't reunite. They either stay on opposing sides or they end up reconciling later in the show, most likely due to them developing some sort of understanding for the other and by actually exploring their baggage.
Warwick is tied to Singed in this season, and through him and Viktor he's tied to Ambessa. Half of the plot in act 2 is Ambessa trying to find Warwick by using Singed to turn Warwick into the ultimate weapon. This part of the show was kinda weird and it definitely took away from the plot. If you get rid of Warwick you can actually focus on ambessa and her motives, or on ambessa and Caitlyn since their relationship is established but not developed.
The sisters end up bringing Warwick to Viktor's commune, which is how Viktor gets reintroduced to the story after not being seen for several episodes. Viktor decides to attempt to heal Warwick, but it isn't said why. We learn that Viktor's powers are suffering and that the commune isn't all that it seems, but we never get to learn anything further bc this segment isn't focused on Viktor- it's focused on Warwick. If you get rid of Warwick, you could actually focus on Viktor, his powers, his commune, his relationship with sky and the hexcore, and his motives.
At the start of act 2, we see that Vi is in a really bad place. She's fighting a lot, getting wasted, and isn't taking care of herself. We see that she has a friendship with Loris as well. However, we're not able to explore Vi's friendship or her current situation or her character bc shortly after Jinx asks Vi to help her with Warwick. If Warwick is gone then you can actually focus on Vi as a character and unpack all the shit the show has built up.
At the start of act 2, we see there's a lot of unrest in zaun. We see zaunites starting to band together and view Jinx as a symbol. This is a really cool concept that isn't explored because instead of Jinx spending the act with other zaunites, she spends it with Warwick. If Warwick is gone then we could actually explore the current politics between zaun and piltover and the effects they have.
It really doesn't make sense to have Warwick be the center of the act when he's not a main character. Hell, he isn't a character at all. He's a plot device. Literally almost everything that happens in act 2 is somehow related to him, yet he has no arch in the season. Everything he does just adds to the plot, not to the value of the story. We end up getting the most random piece of lore dropped in the middle of the season because of him. Lore that literally wasn't relevant at all to what was going on in the show and was never brought up again. I understand that season 1 hinted at Warwick being Vander but if it were up to me I'd be prioritizing the other, much more important shit that s1 set up. Not fucking Warwick. Especially since he's just Vander, an excellent character that we were done with at the start of the first season. There's no reason for him to be back. Since act two is so centered on him, the other acts had to condense and become jammed packed full of shit. But if you get rid of Warwick, you give the story space to breathe. You could have things stretched out longer and in more detail because now you have the time to! You can go into the gray and Caitlyn's dictator arc in detail because now you don't have to worry about wrapping it up before Warwick shows up.
Warwick was literally so big in the show that he took away time and development from literally every character, but especially mel, jayce, ekko, heimerdinger, and Viktor, who were rarely seen this season despite being key players from season 1. If Warwick was gone, you could actually show what happened to ekko, Jayce, and heimerdinger before act 3. You could give ekko some much needed depth and screen time. You could actually explain the black rose, which is never explained throughout the entirety of the show. You could have had Ambessa's backstory be in the show and not its own separate music video. You could have showed Mel more. If Warwick was gone, you could actually explore the characters of Caitlyn and Vi and their relationship. You could explore Sevika's character, who got pushed to the side despite her promising start. You could explore Isha as a character. You could explore lest as a character, who was introduced and then completely forgotten. You could have expanded on the chem barons instead of glossing over them.
In general, if Warwick isn't around you just have more time to do more shit. Like holy shit this is actually crazy.

who's getting books and who isn't?
tells you a lot actually
in lieu of us getting a Dustin companion book soon i'm doubling down on my point about how insanely telling these books are about where the story is going. especially if you look as who is getting books. and i'm saying this both about El and Will (where it's already kind of obvious why s5 is important for them) as well as Mike (where it's also kind of obvious why s5 is important for his character but it hasn't reached mainstream awareness yet apparently lmao)
as of now Lucas, Max, and Dustin (about to come out), as well as Robin and Eddie, and even Hopper and Terry have one. and they all explore things outside of the main canon by doubling down on what filmed canon already established and adding a bit more layers since they have the time to focus on a single character (like exploring racism and how Lucas deals with it in his book, something the show doesn't dwell on, or exploring Robin's queerness, taking place before the events of s3)
Tumblr media
and the focus these books have makes sense since they're mostly written by commissioned writers. so obviously they want to skirt any topics that delve too much into plot heavy areas where the writers a) wouldn't know where the story is going or b) even if they got notes, you don't want important lore drops that impact the later story dropped in companion books
in short we're getting extra story's about no spoilery topics the main story doesn't have time to/want to explore
which makes it all the more interesting we're already getting books about someone like Robin when you know if you asked fans what povs they'd like to see someone like El would rank significantly higher if you trust favourite character rankings. but for some reason El, Mike, and Will have never gotten one
and some of these reasons are just really obvious, especially when it comes to El and Will
1) they obviously can't just drop a book on El yet. on one hand, because her backstory with the lab is a major plot point of the show and they can't spoil it in a book (even if they tried excluding it, writing 200ish pages for a character who can't remember what happened before they turned like 8 is one of those things that would be kind of hard to avoid coming up). even post s4 there's still so many questions about her past and time at the lab, they just shouldn't give unlimited access to her inner monologue about it yet. and on the other hand, El finding her place in the world is quite literally one of her characters main recurring motives, even a companion book as innocuous as "El tries out hobbies" would be exploring something we'd kind of want to see on screen since it'd be a resolution to her character growth and not a fun side quest
2) they also just can't drop a book on Will. the fact that we never found out what actually happened to Will in the UD is already reason enough, the show clearly wants to explore it on screen later on. (now even more obvious since there's already confirmed s1 UD Will in the s5 official teasers). you really can't write a book from someone's pov who's main trauma and life changing moment is something you don't want to get into yet. just doesn't work
there's plot points the show obviously saved for later so both Will and El are pretty unfit as book topics
but with Mike that doesn't actually apply in the same obvious way. Mike not getting a book despite being the leader of the party, having the most on screen defined dynamics with the other kids, and being part of the shows "main" ship would be really odd. like. Really odd. on paper he'd probably be one of the first choices for an easy book protagonist for a fun party side quest. of course unless one of the two book deal breaker reasons applies also:
they can't give his pov because giving his unfiltered inner monologue would spoil s5
they want to explore something relevant to his character themselves on screen and it's not fit for a companion book
but again, in comparison to Will and El where the why is really obvious Mike sticks out because we don't officially know what he's got going on yet. he has no mysterious absence where we don't know what happened to him like with Will and no open ended origin story like with El
it just makes it a bit funnier to me how many people are still fundamentally unconvinced Mike has something going on that's important for the outcome of s5. post s2 the show tries to get some distance from Mike's head and he's joined the club of main characters who don't get books alongside major canon event magnets El and Will. and yeah, obviously you wouldn't want a book from the characters pov who's feelings and sexuality you're actively hiding. it's also a bit of a no brainer you don't want a companion work going into how he's not been doing so great over the past few years because the reasons for that are kind of relevant to the main story. Mike feeling guilty for El dying all the way in s1 is something that might be more fit to bring up in show when their relationship is being addressed instead of in side material
but all in all? the fact that out of all the kids El, Mike, and Will are the only ones who don't get secondary material yet is probably the biggest give away that the three of them are who s5 is planning to give the most insight on even all the in show build up aside. they're being skipped as book povs despite existing public interest and seeming like conventionally easy picks for book side stories
in the current economy around shows franchises, going against what'd be a good marketing decision is always a dead giveaway something is going on

Okay, so I don’t know if I’ve touched on this before but I was thinking about it today so I thought I’d share.
I don’t think Will was ever taken by a Demogorgon. I think it was Henry from the beginning. Like I genuinely think it was Henry that followed him home that night.
One of the main reasons being the difference between Will and Barb’s capture. Barb was dragged into the Upside Down and was eaten immediately. Because that’s what Demogorgons do. They may be controlled by Henry and connected to a hivemind, but they’re animals. They’re not trying to take you or hurt you, they are trying to eat you. And I highly doubt that teeny tiny baby Will would have been fast enough to escape a Demogorgon that was close enough to pull him into the Upside Down.
Not to mention that Demogorgons can’t really see. They’re attracted by blood. That’s why the one in s1 came after Barb, that’s how Jonathan and Nancy lured it to the Byers house. Even though he crashed his bike, Will was not bleeding.
Have we ever really seen a Demogorgon or even a Demodog stalk someone over a long distance if they weren’t actively bleeding?
It just doesn’t add up. Everyone else who dealt with Demo-creatures was injured or killed almost immediately and yet Will survived for a week.
Personally, I think the plot of s2 was his plan the entire time but Will got away. Will was never meant to be a victim but a vessel.
Edit: I’m rewatching s1 e1 and honestly, I’m more convinced than ever. Yes, the creature that follows Will sounds like a Demogorgon. But what kind of Demogorgon can unlock a door chain from the outside??
Literally there is a shot of Will watching the door chain MOVE ON ITS OWN
Demogorgons can’t do that. But Henry can.
Edit 2: okay so the door chain thing seems really significant because there’s a very similar shot showing El opening the Byers’ door chain from the outside at the end of s2. Didn’t El and Henry have the same abilities? That parallel had to be on purpose.
Edit 3: OH MY GOD oh my god I never realized it but what the Mind Flayer did to Billy during the possessing process is the same thing that was happening to Will when Joyce and Hopper found him.
There is a quick flash of a sequence to show us what happened to Billy in the factory where there was something like a tentacle latched onto his face. It’s a bit bigger than the one Hop had to wrench off of Will, given how small Will was when he was taken, but it’s definitely the same thing.
IM RIGHT AND I KNOW IT
Edit 4: Holy shit, those weird growling snarly noises that we hear the thing following Will make, are the same noises Henry makes when he’s throwing El around the Rainbow room in s4.
Henry escaped the upside down on Nov. 6 1983 and kidnapped a child while the Demogorgon massacred the lab.
You will not convince me otherwise.

me, at the end of S1: oh wow! what a fun, sweet little show. considering the main plot was the antichrist bringing about the apocalypse, it was a very light-hearted take! and aziraphale & crowley? OH! they're so CUTE! and so in love and they don't even know it! i love these adorkable buffons =)
me, at the beginning of S2: ***squeeeeee*** more angel/demon antics and fun, light-hearted adventures?! i can't wait!
me, at the end of S2: <literally kneeling at the side of my bed, hands clasped in anguish & desperation, knuckles white as Zira's wings, ugly sobbing to the sky> WHY GOD, WHYYYYYYYYYYY????!!!!!
I'M PAGAN AND I WAS DEAD ASS PRAYING TO THE CHRISTIAN GOD

Why Kittyuri should be endgame?
So let’s see Kitty’s options until now:
1.Dae Heon Kim: a reason
Tumblr media
Dae was literally 1/2 main reasons why Kitty applied to KISS. They spend majority of S1 figuring out how to be together and when they’re finally dating Kitty found out she’s actually in love with Yuri.
It’s sad or funny the fact Dae was too perfect for Kitty and maybe for that, no one ships Dae/Kitty.
2.Min Ho: a season
Tumblr media
S1 was for Dae/Kitty, S2 will be for Min Ho/Kitty.
I actually shipped 50% Kitty with Min Ho and 50% Kitty with Yuri, but after so many bifobic fanbase I really wish Kittyuri is endgame at the end of the series.
Min Ho fanbase is terrible, they use weak excuses to not validate that fact Kitty is in love with Yuri, even her sexuality. That’s so real that the one and only Jenny Han had to reply a comment on instagram validating Kitty’s bisexuality and her love for Yuri. Also Jenny had to close some comments on instagram because of Min Ho’s fanbase spamming every single “XO Kitty” photo asking for their couple.
Arguments like
A)“but Juliana and Yuri fought so hard to be together” when Juliana did absolutely NOTHING to be with Yuri, but KITTY was the one to give Yuri her girlfriend back
B) “Kittyuri happened because of a dream” bitch didn’t Min Ho/Kitty started the same way?
C) “You guys can’t ship Kittyuri because you don’t support when bisexual people date opposite gender”
D) “Kittyuri isn’t healthy because you don’t want Yuri to be with her black girlfriend, that’s racism”
E) “Kittyuri doesn’t have chemistry and Gia Kim is too old to kiss Anna”
Are some examples of this fandom behaviour and that’s why I am now 100% team Kittyuri. I don’t think Min Ho is the worst but I also don’t think he is the best. And I don’t even mentioned he’s Dae’s best friend but people send hate to Kitty and Yuri as couple or separated in order to prop Min Ho excusing ALL his toxic behaviours.
3.Yuri Han: Lifetime
Tumblr media
Yuri Han is the series main villain in S1, she’s responsible for Kitty’s unhapiness and the fact that her and Dae can’t be together. Kittyuri are the real enemies to lovers from this tv show. Min Ho was an asshole to Kitty for nothing, Yuri had a reason the whole time.
Plus we can’t forget Kittyuri is the one and only main LGBT ship from Jenny Han’s universe. It was a real plot twist in a very straight universe and as a bisexual girl I really felt the representativeness’ of Kitty falling in love with a girl without even having a relationship with her. Even as friends.
For this season, I expect Yuri in deny to believe Kitty really likes her until find out Kitty is bi and hanging out with other girls. A very jealous Juliana chasing Yuri’s relationship with Kitty and every step about Yuri’s reaction founding out Kitty is bi. The trailer (and S1) was pretty clear that Juliana is jealous of Kitty, even when Kitty was the person to reconnect them again.
Before everything, analyzing the trailer it seems Kitty will write letters to the person she loves (it’s a Covey’s thing apparently) and Yuri’s friends will find them and tell everybody about this. I don’t think she addresses Yuri’s name since Yuri is rolling eyes when Jealous Juliana passes throught the door and Kitty acts like she had been exposed. I don’t think Yuri would react like that because she doesn’t figure Kitty could like her, but Juliana suspects for the whole S1.
Also I guess Peter Kavinsky will be Kitty’s bisexuality’s cheerleader and be the person to push Kitty to explore her sexuality with both genders. Peter and Min Ho promotional is pretty like a straightbait to me, since the fandom is majority Team Min Ho and I can bet Jenny Han will fight for Kittyuri. I’m afraid for Netflix wanting fanservice for Team Min Ho, but I guess Kitty will try to like Min Ho back in S2 and they can work until Yuri finds out Kitty likes her at some point and break up with Juliana.
So S3 will be with about Min Ho/Kitty break up and Kittyuri finally connecting. I HOPE at least.

I cannot contain my excitement, so let's talk about the new trailer!! Some of this is going to be analysis and some of this is just going to be me screaming (for some reason my screen caps always come out kind of fuzzy and I have 0 idea how to fix that, so y'all are gonna have to bear with me)
Tumblr media
Destiny's palace looks SO good and I'm super excited! I've read up through The Kindly Ones and iirc we never actually got to see his palace - just the gardens - so this is a really nice treat.
Tumblr media
This has to be from The Kindly Ones. My first thought was "oh cool, we're going to get to see Dream rebuild the palace," but then I actually took the time to look at this shot. The three points of attack on the palace? The fact that the bridge is intact? The hell-like, apocalyptic sky/scenery? This is 100% the Three attacking the Dreaming, not Dream rebuilding the palace.
Tumblr media
We love a man who ponders his orb lol. I'm very interested to find out if this is Baghdad or if they're repurposing the orb for a piece of the main plot.
Tumblr media
HE'S SO MID-2000s EMO 15 YEAR OLD ME IS THRIVING RIGHT NOW
Tumblr media
It's extremely interesting that Destiny keeps Delight's picture in his gallery. I know he's canonically blind so he wouldn't be able to see the difference, but he still knows she's Delirium now, so you would think the painting would reflect that. Setting aside how this is an incredibly effective and efficient way of story-telling, it's a nice piece of characterization for Destiny. My thoughts on that characterization aren't fully formed right now, but I do think it's interesting.
And I didn't get a cap because I don't think a single frame does it justice and I don't really know how to make gifs, but Delirium's entrance is really god damn cool and just screams fan service /pos. Very "guys look! Your favorite character is finally here!"
Tumblr media
Extremely interested for the reason behind why the floor of Destiny's palace is made of sand.
Tumblr media
As much as I loved the Napoleonic outfit in the comics, I'm SO glad they went with more of a vampire aesthetic in the show. Someone please edit fangs onto this man when the season airs. I need it.
Tumblr media
Lucifer's Palace!! When we got the wide-shot of it in s1, you could see that it had a metric shitton of pointed spires. But here, it looks like the palace has seen better days. I'll be interested to see if the palace is crumbling on its own, or if Lucifer themselves ordered/is dismantling the palace themselves. It could go either way imo
Tumblr media
Nada approaching the throne!!!! I hope she doesn't just smack him, but shoves him down the stairs too. ✿\(。-_-。) Kick his ass, queen. I got your flower.
Tumblr media
I was really hoping they'd cut the kiss because seriously. The dude imprisoned her in Hell for over 10,000 years. I don't care if she still somehow loves him, he doesn't deserve it after the way he treated her! But alas.
ETA: Had it pointed out to me this could be part of the flashback for Nada's story and GOD I hope so. Her kissing him after getting out of Hell was one of the worst parts of SoM. Like I literally stopped while I was reading it and was like "Yeah, you can tell this was written by a man."
Tumblr media
I'm, like, 90% sure that's a subway car that's got all that pretty greenery sprouting from it, which makes me think this is possibly from A Game of You.
Tumblr media
I have no idea what this is but it looks rad as hell. There's a shot of the Three immediately following it, but given how cave-like it looks, there's a chance it could be the place where Loki's chained up.
ETA: @cutespiderlucas pointed out that this could be the Underworld/Hades. While that's extremely likely, I don't want to think about that because it makes me sad :')
Tumblr media
Fuck yeah, Gwendoline Christie is back on my screen! I can't wait to see those wings get fucking chopped. It's gonna be so good.
Tumblr media
I have no idea who this is and I can't wait to find out. It's not Dream; the hair is too tame. I'm inclined to say maybe The Corinthian, but it's hard for me to see the eyes, and that outfit makes me have some serious doubts.
ETA: @sweet-like-cinnamon-5 informed me of Azazel's human casting, which I hadn't known about when I first made this post. That's exactly who that is, and I suspect this shot is of Dream returning him back to his true form as a void with eyes and teeth.
And again, I didn't get a cap of this because it would look better in gif form, but the next shot we get is of Azazel eating Dream and it looks so fucking cool. Azazel living my dream of swallowing that man whole.
Tumblr media
JEMMY AND HER BALLOON I AM GOING TO LOSE MY MIND WHEN SHE GIVES IT TO DREAM!!! Also Thor about to beat the fuck out of what looks like Choronzon.
I was going to include that shot of the gatekeepers for no other reason than I thought it looked cool, but apparently the max number of pictures you can put in a tumblr post is 15 :c
But yeah, I'm HELLA excited! I can't wait for July!!!

there is genuinely zero reason for taissa (adult tai especially) to not have a bigger role in S3. i’ve seen a lot of people saying the reason tai is only running around wildly w van in the adult timeline is because well, she’s a Deadbeat, which no shit, but why the hell would van not needle her about parenting her kid?? van would give her mad shit about that, esp considering vicky was a deadbeat alcoholic and van’s dad was clearly Not There. she would not let tai get away with that shit. we got like barely a minute of tai seeing sammy and simone in One Single Episode. which especially sucks, since clearly sammy shares an Other self like his mom evident in S1 and in the brief glimpse of him, he obviously recognizes when tai tries to see him that it’s the Other tai, not his mom. which would be so interesting to further explore as Other tai is coming more to the forefront in the teen timeline in the daytime, and which would work in contrast to shauna repressing all her brutality and callie freaking out random mean girls with pig guts. and speaking of, even if you run with the idea that taishauna friendship in the adult timeline is nonexistent because shauna’s getting drawn into the hunt or whatever, there’s literally zero reason for them not to still have a strong friendship in the teen timeline. we get crumbs of it in S3E4 (the trial ep) which i appreciated, but it still is insanely frustrating for both timelines seemingly not allowing tai to have relationships and a plot outside of her romance with van. especially with tai deciding to stay along with shauna & lottie in S3E8 (the most recent ep) because she is still being anchored there by Other tai and the man with no eyes and fears returning to society and having to be “normal” again it just makes zero fucking sense. i love shauna a lot obvs i love all of the main girls, but there’s zero reason for it to exclusively be The Shauna Shipman Show and nothing further. PLEASE free taissa on GOD
