🚪 Alice’s Magic Garden: Growing Math with Plants 🌸
🌟 A Botanical Adventure with Alice & Mr. Fluffernutter! 🐰 Eyes still sleepy, I noticed overnight a mysterious garden had appeared! Plants of every size stretched eagerly toward the sky, their closed buds shimmering gently as if holding secrets yet to bloom. The garden buzzed softly with hidden magic; a gentle breeze whispered through the leaves, filling the air with sweet fragrances of jasmine,…

Sabito, coming down from stairs: Where are you, Giyuu? Giyuu, holding a plate full of toasted bread: In the kitchen, getting your breakfast ready. Sabito: Forget the breakfast, darling. I’m running late. Giyuu: No way! Have your breakfast first! [Sabito huffily starts to eat his breakfast] Giyuu, sniffing the air: Mhm, smelling good. You look good too. Where’re you headed to, Mister? Sabito: Think positive, darling! Where do you think I'd strut my way to except work at such an early hour? Giyuu: Well, it's not my fault that you look like you're ready for a date. Sabito, pulling his hair out of his ponytail, loosening his tie and ruffling himself up a little: Better? Giyuu: Hey! I was just joking! Why do you always get so serious? Sabito: Because, it always starts as a joke but then it spins into an intricate labyrinth of suspicious questions and I always end up running late. I’ve got a lot to do today. Giyuu, raising an eyebrow suspiciously: Why? Don't you have to work everyday? Sabito, sighing: Why don't you schedule these interrogations for Sundays?

Have you ever wondered why in modern video games, you never see the same tree twice? It's thanks to L-systems, named after Hungarian botanist Aristid Lindenmayer. L-systems are a very simple recipe for making branching structures that look like real plants, with different tweaks to parameters and a dash of randomness added in to bring to life that natural chaos we all know and love 🌳 Why do real plants follow this pattern? It has to do with the physics of how branches break off, how water moves through the structure, and also maximizing the amount of sunlight that can be absorbed by all the leaves 🌞

How We Homeschool: 4-Day Sample Schedule
I thought it might be helpful to show how we go through our lessons for a week here so that you could give it a test run to see what might work for your home and schedule. Some things we do every day while others might have a specific day of the week or they may be done on even/odd days to work with our schedules. We also try to have a four-day week with one day off for ‘Life Skills’ as there…

Jedi Service Corps
The Legends-fueled propaganda of "bad students get sent to the Agricorp/Services" has always bothered me. First of all, forcing kids into a career not of their choosing isn't the best way to encourage them to perform well.
The Services in general seem to get a bad rap, and TBH it's kind of bizarre to assume that every kid who winds up being taken in by the Jedi wants to grow up to be a cop. LOL!
There is so much untapped potential being ignored, and even within the four pseudo-canon branches there's a lot to explore.
Agriculture. Farmers Without Borders. LOL! It isn't just about growing plants, it's about analyzing trends, understanding ecosystems, geology, climatology, politics, etc. There's mechanical engineering so you know how to fix the machines that do the hardest labor (often illegally, given corporate software locks and so forth). Probably a lot of fiddly stuff with plant genetics, too, given similar issues with seed corporations.
Being Jedi, I'm sure they're also aware of the need to include "ornamental" plants to help with the emotional welfare of hurting/devastated populations.
Education. This field must be fucking wild. Sure, you have your future creche masters and archivists, but I imagine there are those who do public outreach, too, and go to schools to teach kids about what the Jedi do beyond waving laser swords. There's probably also a need for teachers in isolated/rural areas to help with basic things like reading, writing, and maths. Ditto areas devastated by wars and natural disasters, where kids need a safe distraction from trauma. I bet Educorp and Agricorp team up more often than people might think.
There's also the sheer variety of topics. Even something basic like history will have a wide net. Galactic history, region-specific, planetary, etc. And then there's the arts. Music, singing, dance, physical media, holo media, theatre, and so much more. There will be differences between species, understanding what they need to know, how they learn best, and what their aging process is like. Teachers to cover the full range of mortal maturity, from teaching toddlers to old-timers. And don't get me started on teaching "forbidden" topics in repressive communities.
Medical. LOL. Every. Single. Species. And often subtypes between them. So many specialists needed. And again, you probably have a number that specialize in helping in disaster areas. Hello, Educorp, let's help teach these people how to best care for themselves. Maybe Agricorp can help with showing folks how to purify their air and water. There must be SO many diseases, some of which have inoculations and so that don't. And again, figuring ways to smuggle medicine and supplies to those who need it despite the extortionist rates corporations charge. Repairing faulty equipment, finding work-arounds when the parts aren't there. Triage. Using the Force to help heal is all well and good, but sometimes they still have to get hands-on.
Even with non-emergency stuff, I imagine they're still kept busy. The idea of a Jedi "country doctor" settled in some remote area sounds delightful. Communities that get "lost" in the shuffle or otherwise overlooked. Veterinary medicine as a sub-specialty.
Jedi having a special "knack" for determining what's wrong with someone, finding early warning signs before it's too late, etc. Comforting the dying. Comforting the survivors. ALL the mental health stuff and neurodivergence.
Exploration. Jedi Starfleet. LOL! It isn't all about discovering new worlds, though. Sometimes it's rediscovering planets and cultures that have been forgotten. Charting new hyperlane routes and hoping the end doesn't pop you out in the middle of a star.
I betcha you could fold so many things into this one. Botany. Archaeology. Xenoanthropology. Medicine, of course, since new worlds/people means new poisons, venoms, and diseases. New or ancient languages? It'd help to have someone around who could work on translating. Diplomats to help you talk to people. Geologists. Zoologists. A bit of everything.
Sure, there'd be room for solo missions, but I imagine there'd be bigger ships that they'd launch from. A place to come back to so the brains can pore over everything you brought back and see what they can determine from it. And big ships (or any ships really) means pilots, engineers, general crew, logistics, and all those fun things.
Anyway, I can see plenty of room for additional corps, too, but of the ones that get mentioned in Legends there's still a huge playing field.

I saw this idea for a teacher au on twitter and had to write down some ideas.
Blitz and Stolas are teachers at a local high school. Stolas is the brand new Astronomy teacher who is a total nerd (he once spent an entire class period talking about how they used math to discover the planet Neptune when they should have been taking notes on comets) but is super kind and really cares about his kiddos. Blitz has been there for about four years and is one of the physical education teachers who also coaches their swim team. The students love him because he swears all the time, makes corny jokes whenever he gets the chance and actually teaches them about fitness and health.
Via also goes to the high school and knows her dad has developed a massive crush on coach Buckzo. She works for the yearbook and is tasked with taking photos of all of the swim meets and practices (which she totally did not choose in order for her dad to have an excuse to drive her to said events and stay so he could take her home).
Blitz and Stolas talk for the first time at the swim team’s second home game when Stolas is contemplating the ph level of the pool water and almost falls in when Blitz says hello.
Blitz, who had noticed Stolas at the beginning of the year during their welcome back days and developed a little bit of a crush himself, blatantly flirts with Stolas so much that Stolas ends up actually falling into the pool and Blitz dives in after him.
After that they are seen eating lunch together in Stolas’s classroom almost everyday.
Blitz will randomly walk by Stolas’s classroom (sometimes on his way somewhere or sometimes just to pop by) which always causes Stolas to stutter which makes everyone in his class giggle or roll their eyes.
Stolas starts up a botany club that he expects no one to join and then has like 30 people show up that barely fit into his small classroom. Blitz, passing by one day after school, notices how many kids keep showing up and decides to help out. He doesn’t know shit about plants but he likes to make things so he helps out with the poster making and fundraising part of it all.

[Paraview AU] PVS-05 (Vee)
Tumblr media
Suprised she's not a robot? (Well, aside from aesthetically?), yeah. But I was inspired to make her a ghost off of Sadako Yamamura and that one Rotom in the Old Chateau so...
Full Name: Vee [Last Name Unknown] ID #: PVS-05 Gender: Female (She/Her) Relatives: None Classification: Undead Species: Poltergeist Assigned Researcher: Veronica Hurley Preferred Food: None (Does not eat)
Discovery
PVS-05 was discovered by an anonymous individual who had encountered the entity. The individual had bought the TV that PVS-05 resides in from a yard sale and brought it home. On the night it had been brought home, the TV started playing green static on its own, despite having been turned off. The individual then heard an ominous voice saying “Look at Me” before the entity crawled out of the television, frightening the individual.
Thankfully, the individual was not harmed by PVS-05, as the subject seemingly only wanted the individual's attention. PVS-05 and the TV she resides in was then handed over to Paraview investigators after making a phone report to the Paraview Foundation.
Upon questioning, the seller of the TV had no knowledge of its haunted status.
Noted Behavior and Abilities
- PVS-05 appears to be a special kind of poltergeist, one that prefers to inhabit a specific object instead of a randomly selected one. Specifically preferring the old television she was found in. A couple instances and tests however, prove that PVS-05 is capable of possessing different objects, most notably, pieces of technology.
-PVS-05’s head is composed of a TV screen instead of a human head like most ghosts. Perhaps indicating the method that the subject previously passed away.
-Subject is not willing to divulge details about her past life, t is likely a sore subject for the entity. This may explain her lack of a surname, as she only gave her first name during the admission process.
-PVS-05 is capable of exiting the television whenever she pleases. When inside the television, her appearance is corporeal, consists of different shades of green and black, and has legs, unlike the incorporeal form she takes when outside the TV, which is a pale green color from head to torso, as she lacks legs. Her legs instead being wires that look not dissimilar to human intestines. Due to the lack of legs, we suspect the subject's cause of death was blood loss from being bisected after a TV fell on her, the subject has neither confirmed or denied this theory.
-PVS-05 has described being inside the television as being in “a green void of static”, the “void” is changed into a different location by the subject’s influence.
-PVS-05 hosts game shows within the Auditorium, typically during weekdays at 7pm, with the shows lasting from 25 to 30 minutes. The game show is a trivia game which tests its contestants knowledge of various subjects, including but not limited to; English, Math, Art, Geography, Health, and various sciences like Astronomy, Paleontology, Botany, etc. There is reason to believe she was a game show host in her past life, but that has not been confirmed as of now.
- PVS-05 has displayed the ability to play different clips and soundbites from various television shows when inside the television screen. Subject appears to do this as a form of reacting to things.
- Any water-based subjects (Ex: PVS-29 (“Finn”)) must be at least 6 feet away from PVS-05’s TV to prevent short-circuiting. PVS-46 (“Zester”) also appears to cause the subject to short-circuit when at least 5 feet close to her.
-PVS-05 does not require sleep or the consumption of food to survive. Subject is incapable of doing the latter, as any edible matter will phase through her when outside the TV.
-PVS-05 has friendly relations with PVS-04 (“Shelly”), PVS-07 (“Qwerty”), PVS-38 (“Glisten”), and PVS-41 (“Stitch”). PVS-07 and PVS-05 have especially come to see each other like siblings despite not being biologically related. By contrast, the subject appears to have tension with PVS-01A (“Dandy”), PVS-26 (“Tisha”), and PVS-40 (“Scraps”). The third of which is due to PVS-40’s incredible luck during the subject’s game shows, the other two are currently for unknown reasons, as the subjects have refused to divulge the cause of their tense relations with PVS-05 or vice versa.
-PVS-05 glows green, regardless of form when in dark or dimly lit areas. If inside the television in a dimly lit area, the TV will glow green, in her incorporeal form her entire body blows.

kaiba as STEM genius requires some refinement. it's not broad strokes. like i think he's a shit biologist and knows nothing at all about botany or environmental sciences or genetics. it's all too wet and squishy. not interested in chemistry. smells bad, gets messy. he likes airplanes and computers. he loves engineering (software, electrical, aerospace) and theoretical physics. he loves MATH. the most abstract lofty theoretical realms where he can argue about whether or not numbers are real, prove that 1=1, and go into existential conniptions over the way twin primes cling to each other in the tossing waves of infinity

If you don't include learning (in general, but especially history, philosophy, botany+biology, and math), writing (poetry and stories), as well as music in a Hermes devotional post, what are we really doing here?
