Hey, fandom, let's do 03 vs 12 B Team comparisons!

So Iv'e realized there are allot of paralells between stuff that happens to the b teams of 2003 and 2012 tmnt. I don't remember them all but in total there's

Re: RaMona, or Raph and Y'Gythgba… I forgot that in that fic, telepathic Michelangelo hooked them up via astral projection in spacetime, a year in the future, which means I need to change it to the present for “Children Of The Moon” - which has Splinter and Shredder finally dead in the universe of Mikey The Lifegiver. With Capritello, Shiniangelo, Renetangelo, Shinirai, and hints of Leorai, it makes more sense to fit RaMona in during that hormonally interesting time. Especially once I pull from Season 5 and have Y'Gythgba stay on Earth. Lifegiver is supposed to be separate from The Sunshine Child. TSC should eventually hit the canon Monsters Arc so I can play around.

I noticed a bunch of grammar errors in this fic so I might as well alter it a bunch anyway. And Shinigami’s kitten is named Kirin because that’s my headcanon. Also I need to give Shinigami more backstories. Once I edit, it’ll make “Children Of The Moon” much easier.

TMNT MTL fanfic question

So, hey, while I'm writing "Children Of The Moon" with polyamory and sexualities and mental illness and physical disabilities and psychic powers getting passed around, is there anything I should write with the boys and Mikey's psionics linking them? Like, with the previous Raph story. Or a telepath thing with Donnie. Or Leo doing a remote viewing on his own without Mikey. I dunno. I mean, a lot of it has Shinigami and Renet arguing until they start getting along.

I need a TMNT Michelangelo hug. I screwed up on some things now the overwhelming anxiety doesn't want me to fix it. I'm gonna write a small oneshot from my Mikey The Lifegiver AU with Raphael and Donatello struggling to work with the fallout powers that came with their new spiritual connections to Mikey, with Raph being empathic and volatile, Donnie translating energy into words and being too logical, Mikey trying to help and teach and overloading himself into epileptic seizures and autistic meltdowns, Leo and Splinter serving as anchors and guides.

...it could help me work past my guilt. Then I can write more of The Brightest Fire without guilt over describing 2003 Splinter's bizarre neglectful tough love treatment of Michelangelo after the first realizations that little Mike had psionics.

Plus I need an explanation for all those smacks to the head from his brothers in canon so I can use it in the fic.

The new psychologist wants to help me get to that Zen state where I can emotionally detach myself from my trauma when telling the story. Being abused, manipulated, gaslighted, tricked, betrayed, driven to suicidal thoughts, then watching the abusers spin it around and project onto me as being the harmful one to them has been a fascinating study in mindfuckery. My fiction would certainly reflect my psychological fascination.

TORMENT! and Mikey.

When your two AU fic series in the same fandom basically have the exact same premise with small differences, but it really doesn’t matter because the characters are still different versions of themselves. What I’m tryin to say is: the latest story in “The Sunshine Child” and the first chapter of “The Brightest Fire” are coming from the same place, but it’s actually a nifty challenge to recall the differences between 2003 TMNT and 2012 TMNT so I can get the details right. I’ll need to do some research, maybe ask some 2k3 experts about episodes. Now that 2012 canon officially gave the green light to torture the cinnamon roll, I am going to run through the Break The Cutie and Iron Woobie tropes like there’s no tomorrow. Y’all are going to hate me. But someone has to keep the “Hurt Mikey” fics going, because there are so many “Hurt Donnie” fics out there. My two geeky neurodivergent turtle children are beloved so much that they need to be tormented. In relation to each other. Throw Leo into the mix emotionally, make him watch. Raph can comfort everyone, it’s his new job. Haa, ha ha. (PS, all the wikis and descriptons of Michelangelo mention that his 2003 incarnation is something that is never talked about in the show: “ Michelangelo is also appointed to be "the one with the brightest fire" or with the most potential by The Ancient One. Master Splinter also claims a few times that Michelangelo obtains the most "raw talent" of all the brothers. Although, both Master Splinter and The Ancient One, say because of Michelangelo's lack of focus and interest in training, he will probably never meet his full potential.” The 2012 animated comic released before the CGI show had Splinter talking about Mikey having the most raw potential, more natural talent than his brothers combined, lacking the focus and drive. So what if Mikey started really using that potential and talent? He would be terrifying and amazing. It’s a good thing he has such a good heart and a cheerful disposition, because if he was trying to deliberately hurt someone, it would be the most horrifying game of cat and mouse ever. I love fics and headcanons that portray him with that possibility.)

I adore Mikey, and I’m so happy he got some shining moments in the 2003 series.  I liked that it appeared he was just playing the goof off and, when things got serious, he toughened up and proved himself to be a capable and versatile ninja.  I know he was kind of a little brat sometimes, but I think it was because, like he said himself, he’s able to “take it easy.”  I often think how Mikey would’ve turned out had the series continued its more serious tone, and I like to think we would’ve seen him become more like Mirage comics Mikey, utilizing his intelligence and creativity to the fullest.

Autistic Michelangelo

Who else headcanons TMNT Mikey on the spectrum aka rainbow infinity knot of Autism?

I myself am actually autistic and ADHD and epileptic with fibromyalgia, which I gave to Mikey in my all my fanfiction AU series. I also have an autistic OC in the CFR AU, she is psionic Mikey's psionic loveperson and polyamorous and everyone is queer along the Asexual spectrum.

But I am curious about other fic writers, neurodivergent or not.

A lot of the fandom likes to make Donatello autistic (or Aspie, which got merged with autism). I say he and Mike display their Autistic traits in different ways. Donnie with hard science and medicine, Mikey with soft science and culture and a little medicine. He's totally Donnie's assistant as long as he focuses.

Mikey is much more intellectual, wise, insightful, spiritual, emotionally intelligent, and savvy than he is portrayed.

The family engineer and the family therapist have weekly chat sessions in the lab over coffee, which is Mikey’s ADHD medicine. Mikey admits that he doesn’t really want to be looked up to or have his talents acknowledged as extraordinary beyond his brothers, because that would mean he couldn’t fail. In his mind he would forever need to keep up that perfect twice exceptional mentality and it would just make everything come crashing down. So he deliberately holds back and screws up and allows his ADHD-I to disrupt all hopes of focusing enough, except for the stuff he hyperfocuses on, seeing as that can’t be helped, and he just happened to hyperfocus on chemistry, psychology, making up his own katas, and wearing a lifelong mask of Keep Laughing While The World Burns, because at first he really just wanted to spread joy and love everywhere, but now it feels like hard work and smiling is hard sometimes and oh right that was how the first depressive episode happened. Donnie knows that Mikey’s emotional intelligence and interpersonal intelligence are so far off the charts they’re up in space but he also knows Mikey rarely takes himself seriously and would rather be loved for who he is rather than the things he could be if he only focused. Donnie has them both hooked up to brain monitoring helmets and starts taking notes and he starts trying to figure out how to do some sort of technical mind merge so he can get inside Mikey’s head and maybe transfer knowledge back and forth. Joke’s on him, Mikey’s already had that idea and has been drawing up crude blueprints that include pictures of dragons. Donnie starts to wonder what percentage of his inventions were in fact based on Mikey’s bizarre ideas for fun toys from his powerful imagination that can essentially create and destroy universes.

(I think I brought this up in one of the fics already, but I kind of want to make either a CFR Mind Games chapter or another Mikey The Lifegiver fic for Earth And Oxygen where this gets driven home.)

gray-asexual aromantic Leo, panromantic demisexual Don, aromantic pansexual Raph, gray-asexual demiromantic April, pansexual genderfluid neurogender demiboy Mikey, trysexual panromantic Casey. Games of Twister are fun.

It took me a while to figure Raph out. To me, he’s not a bubbling cauldron of hormones as much as a nervous pupper needing solace. A reader once asked why Gaia and Raph only had sex in the astral plane since Raph was so physical, and I said that that the point - Raph didn’t want to hurt anyone, no matter how much Gaia assured him about her fibromyalgia and cerebral palsy. In the spirit plane they can be as kinky and intense as they want.

“Apriltello” always made me feel weird precisely because I always see April as on the ace spectrum when not paired with Casey. The reason she was with Casey was because Kevin and Peter didn’t want her with a turtle and the turtles were most likely asexual themselves. But that was Mirage, in the 1980s, and it’s the late 2010s now. 2003, 2012, and IDW have shown that Donatello had a small crush on her. In my stories I very specifically ignored that in favor of pure platonic squishes, but I know it at least used to be there.

In the “Cold Fire Rising” sequels where I introduce my pansexual OC who has my disabilities, I involve Mike and Don in a polyamorous triad with her. Since she’s a telepathic neuropsychologist who is really fucking open about love, therapy sessions involve sex. For Raph and Leo, it’s astral plane only for Reasons. I know people don’t read “CFR 3: Lightning Crashes”, but it’s important to the AU, even with the “OC has sex with all four brothers plus Karai” thing.

Besides, the award-winning “CFR 4: Crossfire” might be a little confusing without it. So much comfort sex.

Ah, shit, that reminds me. “CFR 5: Mind Games” will finally have Mikey come out as autistic after Gaia and her sister Rhea blatantly point it out after Mike helps Donnie with a thing and Gaia’s like, “Guys, he’s autistic as fuck how did you not realize this? Oh right, isolation underground.” I know he (and Don) are aut in “Mikey The Lifegiver” and “The Sunshine Child” but if I’m going to give my OC my disabilities, well, blah blah blah. Fanfiction AU allows for many liberties.

Also I surprised myself with how much attention I’ve been giving Donatello in my fics outside of his relationship with Mikey. Donnie’s the fandom darling so I have my reasons for being so extremely Mikey-centric. But Donnie is growing on me as a point of view character. That means he’s in trouble.

I'm with @mysillylittlesoapbox here. Don and Mike play off each other so darn well. We really need something completely dedicated to their unique bond. It's been proven that Mikey is empathically sensitive, ADHD-I, detail-oriented, loves learning, is highly creative, and goes with the flow. Donnie loves to teach and show off his knowledge. Plus Mikey can convince Donnie to get out of his head while Donnie can get Mikey to pay attention. Get these two to plot and plan and you could have the cutest things happen.
