I've been having a bunch of unexpected 03 Donnie feelings in regards to his little brother as they become adults in a modern world, so it's time to go pay attention to those.

Also had a lovely Ninja Turtles daydream where 2003 Raph and 2012 Mikey met on a roof after a portal opened up, and Raph wanted to adopt Mikey because he thought 2012 Raph was too intense and hated how 2012 Donnie would yell at Mikey.

I need to keep up the thoughts of 2003 Mikey being loved by 03 Raph through Raph’s rough treatment, even though Mikey’s exaggerated pain at the head slaps still makes me flinch sadly.

Okay, so. You remember how 2003 Mikey would hug Raph and be shoved away, or be growled at? I can’t help but think that Raphie is a bad brother. He’s not! He loves Mikey so intensely. He cares so deeply, he just prefers to maintain a gruff character persona, he shows love in his own way, and I need to keep reminding myself of this. It’s just that he loves deeply and has a rough harsh surface. The opposite of what I’m used to.

And speaking of caring on the surface but not really, I can’t stop thinking about my abusive former friend (my husband’s former best friend) who called me sister often, he made fun of me in weird ways to show his love, but he and his wife who was my best friend both turned out to be full of narcissistic manipulation… which I must add is actually absolutely nothing like Raphael. And yet I still flinch at any family dynamic where older siblings beat up younger because I can’t differentiate between caring and abusive unless it’s blatant.

But it was a fantastic daydream. I wrote it down so I could put it in a later fic. Imagine 2018 Raph eavesdropping and freaking out in general.

I've been thinking about making this post ever since I started planning out my Tokyo Revengers yōkai AU. Below the cut I'm explaining my choices about the characters appearing in this AU (up until now) and how I ended up with what kind of kami or yōkai I made them, as well as some further details (because I love yapping about my AUs, can you believe it)

Spoilers ahead for my fic A Tale of the Mundane and the Divine, if you haven't read it yet and care about such things.

Draken & Mitsuya: Actually what started this entire thing. I saw some fanart here and there of Draken as an actual dragon, which of course had me thinking that Mitsuya should get to be a dragon too (they're the twin dragons after all! come on!), and it also got me thinking about how eastern dragons are associated with water, and that morphed into them being dragon river gods. (Of course Haku from Spirited Away also came to mind there.) Additionally, while they're both dragon river gods, I wanted to show them being two different-yet-the-same kind of kami. As in, Draken's river is infamous for its violent currents and somewhat feared / at the very least treated with a lot of cautious respect, but even though ships constantly sink, barely any humans ever drown because he keeps saving their lives (probably being pretty annoyed that this keeps happening though, lol). Meanwhile, Mitsuya's river is a lot calmer, vitally important for farmers and associated with harvest, and he's often mingling with humans and handing out little gifts (food, mostly)... but humans are still cautious because he's known to not fuck around when angered. I personally just really like that kind of dichotomy. Also, since I used the concept of kami having two souls, one "gentle" and one "assertive", I wanted to actually show what that contrast looks like, and the character that first came to mind for that was Mitsuya and it's not just because he's my fave and I like it when fics show his capability for being dangerous too shh shut up

Mikey: Was the very next one I decided on. I'm a liiiittle bit obsessed with all things kitsune (if that wasn't obvious), and since they're so iconic, powerful, and often portrayed as tricksters, that role really fit Mikey the best. And since he'd of course still be everyone's leader in this AU, I soon started thinking about the concept of kitsune becoming/being gods (it helped that I was already playing around with it for my Blue Lock yōkai AU), and that then led to considering the thing about kami having two souls, Mikey being cursed like in canon, and how his and Takemichi's relationship would play out with that kind of power imbalance between them... and long story short, that's how the short story got long. *Kazutora voice* It's all Mikey's fault! Also, because it was only hinted at in the actual fic: The half of his soul that he was missing was his "gentle soul". But just like Takemichi, you were probably able to guess that yourself :D

Chifuyu: Also really easy. That he was going to be a cat yōkai was a given! At first I made him a nekomata, until I realised that a bakeneko would be more fitting since nekomata are pretty malicious in legend. Sadly, that meant I couldn't give him that iconic forked tail since that's something only nekomata have, not bakeneko :( And of course I translated his canon interest in shōjo manga to a more historically accurate interest in romance novels, hehe.

Baji: I wanted him to be some kind of canine yōkai and I thought about making him an inugami at first, but that didn't really feel right (and there's already a certain other character who fits the bill much better...), so I looked up whether there are other dog yōkai, found the okuri-inu... and further down in that same article, I encountered the okuri-ōkami; and that just fit perfectly thanks to Baji already being somewhat associated with wolves! Also, I felt like the legends about okuri-ōkami either attacking or protecting humans depending on how one behaves towards them fit Baji's infamously unpredictable nature.

Kazutora: Another one where I immediately knew in what direction I wanted to go. Obviously, he needed to be a tiger. And thanks to me being occupied with a certain yōkai-themed D&D supplement at the time that includes raijū - and has them looking tigrine - I landed on that very quickly. Raijū get represented by a multitude of different animals, but one of them is tigers, so that fit the bill perfectly (and as an aside, whenever you see a tiger-like creature with electricity powers in any kind of Japanese media, you can be sure they're inspired by raijū). Also, again, a creature that is fittingly dangerous and unpredictable. You'll probably find out why exactly he and Mikey have such a complicated relationship even in my AU in a future oneshot...

Hakkai: There's a very early version of this story where Hakkai is also a normal human who is just very (VERY) devoted to Mitsuya Ōkami. I decided not to go with that pretty quickly because I wanted Takemichi to be the only "outsider" and not have someone to bond with over being in love with and loved by a kami. Sorry, Michi, you're not getting someone to relate to yet 👀. Then I quickly landed on Hakkai being the kami of something very specific, and a seasonal wind was the first thing that came to mind (maybe because that fits the swirl design in his hair? Maybe? I mean, it somewhat does, right...?). And so he became the kami of the southwestern spring wind, while his way more mature older sister became the harsher, colder autumn east wind (I spent so much time trying to research seasonal wind directions in Japan for this...). For Taiju on the other hand, the first thing that came to mind was him being the kami of a mountain; one, because I feel like the concept of mountains being/having kami is also pretty iconic, and secondly... have you seen how that man is BUILT. It's a bit of a joke about him already being a mountain of a man, lmao. But I'll probably get into more detail about him in a future oneshot, so I'm cutting it off here. Poor Hakkai already had to share enough of his spotlight.

Smiley & Angry: An easy choice here. Do I really have to explain why I made them oni? Canon already took care of it for me 😂

Mucho: Now we're getting to the more difficult ones. I don't remember exactly how I landed on a dōsojin for him - I think I settled pretty quickly on making him some kind of guardian figure because I couldn't think of anything better and it does fit his canon role... well... at first. And I sort of alluded to the question of his allegiance by not making him a guardian of the shrine complex or Mikey's court, but specifically of pilgrims on their journeys. His actual duties and area of influence lie outside of the shrine complex... This might get brought up at some point.

Sanzu: I really didn't know what to do with him at first. I wanted him to have his iconic katana in some way or other, but other than that, I really struggled with his role. But then it suddenly occurred to me that there are so many stories about cursed/possessed swords, so he could be the katana! He's a literal sword demon - sort of like in canon, lol. Once I got it, this became one of my favourite choices for the AU. I then remembered playing Ōkamiden and that the demons in that game have veils covering their faces. So of course, I had Sanzu wear a veil in place of his mask (only that it doesn't cover his entire face like the inspiration - just the areas that would be covered by his mask). Everything came together so perfectly. I'm still really proud of this one :D

Pah-chin & Peh-yan: Another difficult choice that took me a while. I think they were the last ones I decided on. Inspired by the scene where Takemichi meets them for the first time in canon, I wanted to make them guardians of the shrine complex and Mikey's court pretty much from the start. I just couldn't settle on what kind of guardians. I briefly considered making them dōsojin before I ended up giving that role to Mucho instead. Then I considered guardian lions or komainu since they also always come in pairs (and Pah and Peh just belong to each other, let's be honest here). The vibes didn't really work, though. And finally, I landed on kado-mori-no-kami. There aren't really many sources about those, but I decided that Pah and Peh were just going to be magical statues that come alive to deal with intruders. Insert a joke about heads made of wood here, lol.

Hanma: Another one where canon already presented me with a clear choice. He's a shinigami - naturally. But when researching the actual lore about shinigami, I found out they're a relatively modern concept and they don't really have any clear-cut identity. Which was just fine by me - I took a lot of creative liberty with his powers.

Kisaki: I won't get into too much detail about him since I'm saving that for a potential future oneshot, too, but as soon as I realised my little FWP (Fluff Without Plot) oneshot did, in fact, have a plot now (and wasn't going to be all that little either), I decided that he would naturally take up the villain role as a scheming kami in Mikey's divine court. He's a kami of scholars because of the whole top-of-his-class thing and his studious nature, of course. But he's also a kami of strategy for obvious reasons deplorable little chessmaster that he is, and he's prayed to especially by scheming court nobles. He's the patron kami of political maneuvering and courtly intrigue. Or, y'know, he was. 😌

Leonardo the honor nerd, the good child, the solemn studious boy - the natural deadpan snarker full of dad jokes from the start

Sooo, there has been a lot of discourse about Leonardo, in all iterations, since Rise of the TMNT premiered. Arguments that this is what Leo is like without the burden of leadership, arguments that this isn't Leo at all because he was always serious and intense.

Why not both? Both is good.

Leonardo was always a naturally studious, cool, collected, serious boy, eager to please, willing to be responsible and protective. Master Splinter noticed that Leonardo had instincts for leadership, command, commitment. Leo was great at strategy. Leo was gifted in being able to know his environment, his body, his clan mates. He was diligent and he worked extremely hard.

Leonardo also had a sarcastic streak a mile wide. Folded arms, rolled eyes, heavy sighs. He could deliver a devastating one liner that made others fall in line with groaning reluctance. He was making dad jokes back when they were uncle jokes. But as he grew up, he realized that he was a big brother and his family was rowdy and chaotic, so he began to hold his humor back more and more for the sake of being a leader and responsible brother. That snarky joking edge lord child sunk deeper into a rapidly changing mentality of honor, commitment, responsibility, a need to please Father and Master, the need to be The Best because Now We Are At War. A curtain of responsibility and self doubt fell over him.

2003 traumatized him and wrapped him in the curtain just enough to hinder him. 2012 pulled back the curtain just enough to let him crack jokes and laugh at himself. 2018 ripped off the curtain, erased the trauma, and yanked all that snark to the surface.

In Rise, Leonardo hasn't been exposed to the things that really require his solemn studious side. He feels like a kid who can bounce around and fling himself at life without truly worrying. He is still determined, committed, loyal, studious, happy to learn, whip smart and ready to lead his clan and pull them out of danger while being totally assured that he's doing the right thing, that he knows exactly what he's doing, that if they would trust him he would help them become great. 2018 Leo is still Leonardo. He's merely able be glib, flighty, arrogant. Because he does not yet need to constantly fight for the lives and wellbeing of his clan, he doesn't need to prove he's the best even though he still really wants to. He's a good warrior. Right now he's a teenager who knows his life could change at any time and he's hoping to get as much joy out of it as he can. He's valid. All parts of Leo are valid.

Let's look at Leonardo and Michelangelo. In 2003, they're each other's foils. Mikey wants Leo to relax and lighten up because he knows he can. Leo wants Mikey to be serious and to exercise his potential because he knows Mikey can be so much better. Mikey may be holding back because he knows he could be better than Leo and there seems to be an unspoken deal about that. Leo may be frustrated because he wants Mikey to surpass him. They just want the best for each other. Mikey knows full well how easy going and silly Leo can be if he let himself go. In 2012, Leo has relaxed enough that he and Mikey automatically formed a tight bond, pushing and encouraging each other to just keep being their best, and Leo is clearly able to snark with ease, despite his insistence on responsibility and his own burdens.

2018 has turned the universe sideways for them. Leo and Mikey are partners in crime, they're each other's Person, they get each other automatically. This version of Leo is the only version who would be an honorary Michelangelo in the other iterations, as my lovely friend @kalachelone stated. It's not because he's suddenly the Mikey of the show, it's because he's embodying the spirit of who Mikey is.

He is a Leonardo in full, creator approved, Canon Divergent only as much as the original Mirage Tales of the TMNT by the actual creators, not to mention IDW, written by Kevin Eastman himself.

To deny and insult 2018 Leo is to scoff at a creator approved side of Leonardo that we've needed to see since the beginning, the rebellious, joyful, tactically intuitive, whipsmart, cool Leo with lightning wit, dramatic extra edginess, smooth confidence, and an instinctive ability to command teamwork. Validate him.

abso-fucking-lutely!!!! this is so fun and as a folk practitioner who works with deities this is right up my ally. If it's ok with you, I'm not gonna include dragons as that's not a practice I'm familiar with and I wouldn't want to get anything wrong. But deities I can do! I'll switch up the deities each time so there's something new with each of these as well.

Leo

"Can't, sorry, Loki said the vibe is off" you begin to leave the room and Leo is just following you like "What vibe? Who's Loki? Why is he telling you no?"

you're shuffling tarot cards and the fool pops out so you say, looking up, "I get it babes, please don't interrupt my reading like that, though" and Leo is so confused like "I din't say anything" and you just say "Not you, Loki"

eventually he tries to play into it like "Would Loki be ok if we didn't smoke cleanse the house today?" and you're just like "...yeah, I guess. But if you start feeling ill soon you'll know it's because he's pissed at you"

Leo does start feeling sick so you tell him to make an offering

he's never felt more stupid that when he pours wine into a glass on your alter but he soon feels better again and it freaks him out that it worked

"So he's a trickster god?" lots of questions like this and each time you're just like "Yes, he's a trickster, no he isn't going to hurt me, yes he fucks with me sometimes but it's all in good faith"

Raph

You wake up from a really bad nightmare

"I thought your Goddess was supposed to have power over dreams?"

"She does, something must be wrong"

you look in your offering cup and the wine has fucking moulded

"ah shit, it's mouldy. Better get her a new one"

after that you have peaceful dreams

you come home with a bunch of white roses and Raph is all "are those for me?" and you politely have to let him down and tell him they're for Selene

any time Raph has a bad dream you joke that it's because he's fallen out of favour with the Goddess for how he's treated you

fast forward to a time you and him get in a big fight and he has the worst sleep/dreams of his life for a week straight.

he comes crawling back to you practically begging you for forgiveness.

Selene gets a big offering after that

Mikey

You're clearing a space in his room for your alter since the two of you moved in together

"I need a large space, Hades like a big alter"

"What's he compensating for?" Mikey jokes

and you just shoot him this look like "Don't fuck around when it comes to him"

not even 10 minutes later one of his drums breaks

you're just like "serves you right"

you come in one morning with a cup of coffee and Mikey gets all excited like he's about to get breakfast in bed and you have to tell him that it's for Hades who likes his coffee black.

kinda freaks Mikey out when you hold a funeral for each of the dead rats you find in the lair but you have to remind him "I'm a death witch and I worship the lord of the underworld. What else am I meant to do?"

Donnie

honestly he mostly just leaves you to it

he's pretty good with his hands so when you told him you worship Artemis he made a clay stature of her for your alter

you told him he'll be in her good books after that

that night Donnie caught 10 foot clan soldiers

"well, she is the Goddess of the hunt... I told you she was happy with you"

He really takes an interest in your devotional activities

Henry's characters as Greek/Roman Gods 😆

OKAY girl. I’m finally getting around to this. I did a lot of research as I’m not superly familiar with all of the greek gods and their stories, but I did a pretty good job I think, and I ran the list by @littlefreya and @agniavateira; they stan (for the most part)!

All of my info (including the quotes I will use) I pulled from this website, so if anything isn’t accurate, I’m sorry! Here we goooooooo!

Stephen Colley

Stephen Colley is Aristaeus, minor patron god of useful arts, such as gardening and hunting. I’m basing this off of who he was and his role to the family, NOT on the sudden acting career that was thrust upon him.

“In Greek mythology, Aristaeus was the god useful arts, such as bee-keeping and cheese-making, olive-growing, herding, and hunting. He was a rustic god, a god of the countryside and pastoral places.”

Aristaeus also would visit cities, see the problems, and find a solution, which is basically what Stephen did for the bitch he was in love with, to the detriment of his own heart.

Mikey

Mikey is Momus. the god of Mockery and Satire.

“Momus is typically depicted as a man lifting a mask from his face. In more modern art, he is depicted as a fool or king’s jester.

Greek tragedian Sophocles wrote a satyr play called Momus. Satyr plays were tragicomedies with choruses of satyrs. The plays were often full of drunkenness, sexuality, sight gags, and other forms of merriment.”

Mikey loves a good joke and to fool around. He didn’t take life seriously, he wanted to have fun. 

Melot

Melot is Dinlas, god of chaos and hatred. Dinlas was abandoned by his mother and banished to the underworld where Hades discovered him and turned him into an agent of darkness, similarly to how Melot wasn’t as well received by his uncle as Tristan was, and so was taken in by Wictred and used for evil.

Hades gave Dinlas a job that seemed right and good, much how Melot thought that he was doing what was best for the kingdom. Both of them sought acceptance and love wherever they could find it, and for both of them it was ultimately their downfall. 

Evan Marshall

Evan is the god Paean, physician to the Olympic gods. Paean treated everyone from Ares to Hades, he didn’t differentiate. This may seem like an obvious choice, but it goes a step further.

“The name “Paean” was also commonly used in a general sense to refer to anyone who could save people from evil or calamity.”

This is Evan. He was brought in by his brother to save their home from the evil that resided in that bunker, and he did what he had to, wishing to save not just his family but the family that lived there, regardless of what his brother thought. He didn’t differentiate, same as Paean.

Charles Brandon

Charles is Kratos, god of strength and power. I’m basing this off of the myths that include his lineage as the son of the Titans Pallas and Styx, which makes him a relative of the Olympian gods but not one of them directly.

“In this form, Kratos is seen as a companion of Zeus and the guardian of his throne. He is usually one of Zeus’ primary enforcers and is an extension of his will.”

This is Charles. Friend of the King and Enforcer of His Will, even when it means carrying out unnecessary vengeance, similarly to how Kratos was required to chain Prometheus to a rock to be tortured for all eternity after Prometheus stole fire for humans.

Clark Kent/Kal-El

Clark is Atlas, who was a Titan instead of a god. This might seem like an unusual choice, but hear me out. Atlas chose a side and lost, and because of it was forced to carry the weight of the heavens on his shoulders for the rest of his life. Clark too was forced to choose a side, and though he didn’t necessarily “lose”, he still had to carry the weight of that burden on his shoulders for the rest of his life.

“Atlas was known as being ‘stout-hearted,’ strong, resilient and only a little gullible”

Clark is all of those things. And when I say gullible, I more just mean that he’s so good, so innocent, people have been able to take advantage of him before. 

Napoleon Solo

Napoleon is Hermes, god of trade, thieves, travelers, and border crossings, guide to the Underworld. 

“Hermes was known to be quick and cunning and had the ability to freely move between the mortal and divine worlds. 

In some myths Hermes is also depicted as a trickster where he would outwit the gods either for the good of humankind or for his own personal amusement and satisfaction.

Both Homer and Hesiod portrayed Hermes as the author of skilled or deceptive acts, and also as a benefactor of mortals.”

This depicts Napoleon to a T. He played both sides to his benefit, and often “went against the man” if it benefited the greater good or if it amused him.

Captain Syverson

Captain Syverson is Zeus, god of law, order, and justice.

“Hesiod described Zeus as a god who “brought peace in place of violence” and referred to him as the “lord of justice”.”

There are many different character traits of Zeus that Syverson embodies: hospitality, willingness to avenge wrong, keeper of oaths, and he struck terror in his enemies. 

“According to “Work and Days” by Hesiod (line 59), Zeus was a carefree god who loved to laugh out loud. He was regarded as wise, fair, just, merciful, and prudent. He was also unpredictable – nobody was able to guess the decisions he would make.”

This also seems to me like Syverson. Although we don’t see him laugh much in the film, we do get a snippet of that smile when he greets Mahmoud.

“He is often described as a strong, imposing man with a regal body and long, often curly, hair. He usually had a short beard or scruff and carried his trusty thunderbolt at all times.”

Syverson is all of this except the long curly hair. His thunderbolt is the Beretta 92FS he’s always got tucked into his belt.

August Walker

August is Hades, god of the underworld. 

“Hades was depicted as stern and unyielding, unmoved by prayer and sacrifice.

[He] had a cap or helmet that made its wearer invisible.

His wife was Persephone, Demeter’s only daughter, whom he kidnapped and made his queen.”

August’s mission is his manifesto. He is unyielding in that sense; he will do whatever it takes to accomplish that goal, unmoved by the opinions and pleading of others. He worked for the CIA and they had no idea of his true intent, which makes him pretty invisible, and he would absolutely kidnap a woman to make her his bride (Trapped, anyone????). Although I think he would make her fall in love with him first.

Walter Marshall

Walter is the Hypnos, the god of sleep. Again, seems like an unusual choice, but hear me out. 

“Hypnos is said to be a calm and gentle god who helps mortal humans in their time of need.”

This is Walter. He is a gentle giant, who aids people when they need help the most. This is his job, this is his life. Hypnos lived in the underworld, in a cave that received no sunlight or moonlight. Walter lives his life in a similar darkness, his mind engulfed in the horrors of his job. Hypnos’s cave was surrounded by poppies and other plants that produce sleep, which explains why Walter always looks so tired. *cue laughing emoji*

Geralt of Rivia

I see Geralt as Heracles (Hercules). He did not choose the life he was given, but he used it for the good of people. 

“Heracles was known for his extraordinary strength, courage and cleverness. When his brawn would not suffice, he would call upon his wits...”

Hercules also had his Twelve Labors, which I equate to Geralt running around slaying monsters. Hercules often acted impulsively, and though done out of love, it would get him into trouble. Geralt does this too, though he would never admit it. His love for Jaskier, Yen, and Ciri gets him into heaps of scraps and trouble, which he is then often forced to serve his way out of.

God these are gorgeous.

Izana: Kitsune, obviously, my guess is one of the holy ones since wild kitsune aren't usually white. So he would likely be someone who serves the gods. A zenko fits best imo since those are the ones who strive to improve their standing in kitsune society.

Ran/Rindou: Gashadokuro - an giant evil amalgamation of bones of the unburied, usually soldiers, that wanders and crushes and eats people for fun. Their main motivation is typically vengeance and they are immortal. Only disappearing or breaking down when their vengeful energy is depleted.

Takamichi: Tanuki - shapeshifting trickster racoon dog yokai. There's a couple more specific ones but he doesn't seem to have any distinguishing traits. These are little guys who like to play pranks, drink a lot and are known... to use their giant testicles in their shapeshifting...

Mikey: Wa nyudo ( I think ) - A man ( sometimes a full body, sometimes just a head ) attached to a burning wagon wheel. He travels the roads at night and indiscriminately steals souls of those he encounters. Sometimes for hell, sometimes just because he can. I think his is probably due to the activities of a motorcycle gang.

Baji: Karasutengu (kotengu) - the lesser tengu. They are tricksters who enjoy things like destruction and murder merely for the fun of it. They're known to band together in groups, even with other types of yokai. They hoard trinkets and other important items/artifacts, often stolen.

Chifuyu: Nekomata - the more powerful of the cat yokai. They are normal cats who slowly grew and transformed to yokai, as they get bigger and more powerful their tail grows and eventually splits into two. The split tail is what indicates a Nekomata over the others. They enjoy eating humans, can summon fire, and can control corpses like puppets.

Haru: Oni - No clue if he's supposed to be any specific one, there are so freakin' many. Just massive strong demon/giants that live mainly in hell. Fun fact, their name comes from a word meaning "concealed" or "hidden".

Quick Bits:

Batman & The Outsiders #7 throws some further ramifications of Ra’s al Ghul and his minions meddling with Duke and Sofia. Some particularly disturbing transformations going on with Duke that should be interesting. The level of intrigue that Bryan Hill is keeping in the story is gripping.

The Batman’s Grave #2 is another excellent issue. A little more packed with action than the first one, allowing Bryan Hitch to cut loose with some of the sequences. Also, I’m loving the humour that Warren Ellis is giving us between Alfred and Bruce. That acerbic wit is something we’ve seen from Alfred a lot and Ellis just nails the voice.

Battlepug #3 is more fun from Mike Norton, Allen Passalaqua, and Crank! Some really nice stuff here as Bryony cuts loose on Nobody’s Ponies. I absolutely love the mix of traditional sword and sorcery storytelling with rather over-the-top humour that basically lampoons it at the same time.

Black Cat Annual #1 is a fun tale of a heist on the Maggia by Black Cat and Spider-Man from Jed MacKay, Joey Vazquez, Natacha Bustos, Juan Gedeon, Brian Reber, and Ferran Delgado. It features the usual humour and action that we see in the series and I quite like how the artists are broken up each following one particular aspect of the story. Though it’s all one narrative, it gives a nice differing feel to each part.

Black Hammer / Justice League: Hammer of Justice #5 concludes what has been an excellent series from Jeff Lemire, Michael Walsh, and Nate Piekos. Ultimately, this has reminded me of the old JLA/JSA crossovers of old, and just feels great as an overall story. Plus the possibility of seeing a sequel.

Black Panther and the Agents of Wakanda #3 begins “God Loves, Moon Kills”, another two-parter for this series, from Jim Zub, Lan Medina, Craig Yeung, Marcio Menyz, Federico Blee, and Joe Sabino. I love this story format, giving us essentially quick-hit missions dealing with a problem and then moving on. It’s yielded some pretty tight storytelling and some fascinating situations.

Black Stars Above #1 is another incredible debut for Vault, with Lonnie Nadler, Jenna Cha, Brad Simpson, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou delivering an incredibly deep and unique horror story. It centres around a young woman in a family of fur traders, as the trade itself begins to die in Canada, and it’s impressive as to how real the characters and their struggle feels. The artwork from Cha and Simpson is exquisite.

Buffy + Angel: Hellmouth #2 continues Buffy and Angel’s descent through hell. It’s much more cerebral than you’d expect, with the demons trying to get into Buffy and Angel’s respective heads in order to manipulate and destroy them. Plus, a rather interesting surprise. Jordie Bellaire, Jeremy Lambert, Eleonora Carlini, Cris Peter, and Ed Dukeshire are doing some great work with the core of this event.

Collapser #5 somehow gets even stranger in this penultimate issue as Liam creates a “perfect” world to run away from the problems he’s having in the real world. The real world bleeding through and a revelation of his girlfriend’s true intentions just ratchet up the strangeness further. Mikey Way, Shaun Simon, Ilias Kyriazis, Cris Peter, and Simon Bowland are just doing amazing work here.

Detective Comics #1015 takes an interesting turn as Nora decides that she likes being a villain. Through this, Peter J. Tomasi is definitely showing an interesting side to Mr. Freeze, emphasizing again that he’s a rather conflicted villain, only doing the various heinous actions to save his wife. Who now doesn’t need him.

Doctor Mirage #4 features more incredibly beautiful, inventive artwork from Nick Robles and Jordie Bellaire. The visual storytelling as Shan faces the Embalmer is just incredible. Magdalene Visaggio, Robles, Bellaire, and Dave Sharpe continue to deliver magic with this penultimate issue.

Edgar Allan Poe’s Snifter of Terror: Season Two #2 is another entertaining issue. The lead tale from Tom Peyer, Greg Scott, Lee Loughridge, and Rob Steen has traditional EC Comics horror vibes, as a scientist tries to communicate with our worm overlords. In one of the comics back-ups Mark Russell, Peter Snejbjerg, and Steen revisit the world of the breakfast cereal monsters. And there’s the usual prose pieces, poetry, and Hunt Emerson’s Black Cat.

Event Leviathan #6 concludes this series from Brian Michael Bendis, Alex Maleev, and Josh Reed. How much you enjoy it will hinge on how much you enjoy Maleev’s art and the realization that most of this tale is about moving one person off the board and the reveal of Leviathan to set up further stories. Also, Bendis paints a Batman who is ridiculously terrible at hiding his secret identity.

Fallen Angels #1 is the final new first issue of this first wave of “Dawn of X” titles and in many ways it’s more personal than the other X-titles, even Excalibur, delving into Psylocke (the former Kwannon, not Betsy Braddock) and her past. Bryan Hill, Szymon Kudranski, Frank D’Armata, and Joe Sabino deliver an interesting story with hooks on the darker side of the X-world, including some ominous bits from Magneto and Sinister, but I question the inclusion of X-23 and Cable. They don’t exactly seem to fit the roles they’ve been put into here.

Family Tree #1 is a phenomenal debut from Jeff Lemire, Phil Hester, Eric Gapstur, Ryan Cody, and Steve Wands. This first issue perfectly captures that insidious nature of family drama mixed with creeping terror and body horror as a bizarre plague begins spreading across America.

Far Sector #1 is one of the most impressive debuts I’ve read in a long time. NK Jemisin, Jamal Campbell, and Deron Bennett create a rich new world in the City Enduring and a compelling character in the new Green Lantern, Sojourner Mullein. The murder mystery that ties everything together is just the icing on the cake. Incredible world-building here and drop dead gorgeous artwork. Do not miss this.

The Flash #82 is part one of “Rogues’ Reign” from Joshua Williamson, Rafa Sandoval, Jordi Tarragona, Arif Prianto, and Steve Wands. It features a Central City taken over by the Rogues, transformed into their own personal playgrounds, as the Flash is nowhere to be found. It’s not bad, but the amount you’re going to like it may be relative to how much you’re also enjoying “City of Bane” and the recently concluded similar arc involving the Trickster.

Folklords #1 is off to a fantastic start from Matt Kindt, Matt Smith, Chris O’Halloran, and Jim Campbell. It starts off with a precocious kid in a fantasy world who’s been having visions of what essentially amounts to our world, whose quest sets out a rather draconian lockdown on their society when the Librarians rein in everyone from illicit action, like finding the Folklords. Highly recommended.

Gotham City Monsters #3 adds another element of DC lore to the series as Melmoth claims a particular prize. I really quite like how Steve Orlando, Amancay Nahuelpan, Trish Mulvihill, and Tom Napolitano are pulling together disparate bits of Gotham and beyond to craft this story.

Guardians of the Galaxy #11 is the penultimate issue of this series from Donny Cate, Cory Smith, Victor Olazaba, David Curiel, and Cory Petit. It’s basically a big fight between the remaining Guardians and everyone else. It doesn’t go so well.

Hawkman #18 takes a somewhat different approach to Hawkman’s infection than what we’ve seen of the others so far. Rather than being a dark reflection of Hawkman’s own desires, he’s taken over by an Earth-3 incarnation in Sky Tyrant. Robert Venditti, Pat Olliffe, Tom Palmer, Jeremiah Skipper, and Richard Starkings & Comicraft instead use that to play the spirit of our Hawkman against.

House of Whispers #15 takes a new twist as the Corinthian finds the House of Watchers, takes over, and everything changes. Nalo Hopkinson, Dan Watters, Dominike “Dono” Stanton, Zac Atkinson, and AndWorld Design kick off some new terrors as even Erzulie’s status quo is upended, and we get another guest appearance of John Constantine’s homecoming.

Invaders #11 pushes deeper into Steve and Namor’s history and relationship, as Steve refuses to give up on his old friend. There’s some very heavy, very good character work here as we head into the final issue. Chip Zdarsky, Carlos Magno, Butch Guice, Alex Guimarães, and Travis Lanham continue to astonish at the incredibly high bar they’ve set for this story.

Justice League Odyssey #15 is a fun tale from Dan Abnett, Will Conrad, Rain Beredo, Pete Pantazis, and AndWorld Design. Jessica Cruz leading a rag tag band of villains (and Orion) against Darkseid and the previous JLO turned evil is unfolding as a very entertaining story with some interesting twists. Also, Dex-Starr is awesome.

Morbius #1 isn’t a bad start from Vita Ayala, Marcelo Ferreira, Roberto Poggi, Dono Sánchez-Almara, and Clayton Cowles. This first issue is largely just action as Morbius sets out on his quest to cure himself, again, but it’s not bad. The art from Ferreira, Poggi, and Sánchez-Almara is very nice.

Oblivion Song #21 continues the slowburn investigation and reconnaissance of the Faceless Men’s base, as Marco tries to map it out and discover where they’re holding all of the people who decided to stay in Oblivion. Gorgeous artwork from Lorenzo De Felici and Annalisa Leoni as we see more of the Faceless Men’s technology.

Psi-Lords #6 does a bit more world-building as we find out more about the Psi-Lords and the Starwatchers, even as the four Earthers are beset by the other Marked in a bizarre farce of a trial. Fred Van Lente, Renato Guedes, and Dave Sharpe are telling a pretty great sci-fi adventure tale here. It largely stands alone in the greater Valiant universe framework and deserves more attention than its getting.

Ennis, Jacen Burrows, Guillermo Ortego, Nolan Woodard, and Rob Steen deliver a brutal and bloody beginning as Frank chases down someone who everyone seems to think is him.

Reaver #5 is a fairly impressive spotlight for Breaker as he does what he really didn’t want to do again in order to help his “friends”. Justin Jordan, Rebekah Isaacs, Alex Guimarães, and Clayton Cowles present a number of twists and surprises in one of the most brutal issues yet.

Ronin Island #8 sees the remaining islanders largely stand together as they try to both stand up to and flee from the Shogun’s soldiers and madness. With a terrible occurrence that looks like it’s going to cause even more problems for the survivors. Giannis Milonogiannis and Irma Kniivila’s art continues to be everything.

Sea of Stars #5 very nicely puts the pieces together as a disconsolate Gil has been captured and basically given up thinking Kadyn dead is brought to the world where his son is about to be gutted. Jason Aaron, Dennis Hallum, Stephen Green, Rico Renzi, and Jared K. Fletcher are telling an incredible story here and this issue throws even more twists at the reader.

Seven Days #2 unfolds some of the fallout of people learning that they only have seven days left, as the superhero community is enlisted to try to stop whatever the shiny harbinger things are. Gail Simone, José Luís, Jonas Trinidade, Michelle Madsen, and Saida Temofonte are continuing to build an intriguing story here as we get more and more of the breadth of the Catalyst Prime universe.

Tales from the Dark Multiverse: Blackest Night #1 might well be the best of these one-shots yet. Tim Seeley, Kyle Hotz, Dexter Vines, Walden Wong, Danny Miki, David Baron, Allen Passalaqua, and Tom Napolitano give us a bleak look at a world where Sinestro chose not to share the power of the White Lantern light and essentially everything fell to Nekron and the Black Lanterns. It’s a very unique take on the zombie apocalypse on its own, made more interesting as a fallen Sinestro, Lobo, and Dove try to save this universe. The art from Hotz, Vines, Wong, Miki, Baron, and Passalaqua is perfect.

Triage #3 shifts to Commander Marco’s reality as the group flee from the Hunter. I really like what Phillip Sevy and Frank Cvetkovic have been doing with this story. Great high concept, but the interpersonal relationships are where it’s really at.

Usagi Yojimbo #6 is a beautiful updating and embellishment of the very first story of Usagi from Albedo by Stan Sakai and Tom Luth. This single issue story really captures the spirit and magic of all of Sakai’s stories, wonderfully portraying his mix of action and folklore.

~ My son Mikey I can't let anybody hurt you. (Btw, Leon call him Miguelito). He struggles a little with puberty, mostly with ocasional acne. His brothers constantly remind him of being careful to not get scars from pinching the pimples obsessively.

~ MIXED BRAH U CANT' TELL ME OTHER WISE, 1/2 cups of african-american and 1/2 cups of latino spice and PUFF yOU GOT CINNAMON ROLL THAT COULD ACTUALLY KILL YOU.

~ Cocoa skin (with that yellow undertone, you know?). Thin hair, curly, natural and the most bouncy-est(?) hair, a little above the chin lenght, tied up in a bun when he's busy making art.

~ Button nose, surrounded by some freckles. With really big, almond eyes. His face gets pinkish when it's to damn hot, he's doing to much work or is REALLY angry.

~ I think I gotta bring up how nice his smile is, he got that smile, that shows up just his upper teeth row, the upper lip disappears and it goes way up his cheeks and then it sinks in his dimples. Art.

~ Mikey ain't that young but his height, complexion and even facial features makes him look a lot younger in comparison to his brothers, he could be like 25 and ppl would still think he's in highschool, never aging ppl.

~Had this beautiful dreads, with the tips colored differently once in a while. Now he's growing his hair to have larger dreads, so he can paint em a different color each and have em in high up-do, like a rubberband ball.

~ Mikey would wear every fucking color, get the fuck away with toxic masculinity p l e a s e. Fits anything 10/10. But loves sports clothing (Matching ones are the BEST) he find's it refreshing and really comfy since Miguel is really active, so if he's needs to go usain bolt he GOES OFF and you can imagine sneakers don't last with him. Probably, every single piece of clothing he owns has at least a minor stain from some sort of paint.

~Wears headbands, sometimes really neat designs and then straight out "what the hell is this vomit stain garbage Mikey?" (from Donnie, mostly).

~ Has fake piercings. He's got several in his ears. He wants to have em for real, older brothers just keep telling him that "when he gets older".

Plus: We all know how the turtles are sneaky sneaky, tricky tricky and rad skillyz skillyz being ninjas but in this human AU his brothers got nothing on him like he's flexible as hell, he comes down the stairs like the exorcist bitch or that other bitch on the ring and scares the shit out of Leon and Raph, can touch his calfs with his neck that kind of stuff. And he doesn't run, he travels back to 1955 to save Marty McFly ass.

~Has wavy thick hair, keeps the top messy and fluffy and the rest shorter, undercut typo.

~LEON. USES. GLASSES. Period. But don't use em regulary, mainly cuz he's so active and sometimes clumsy and would rather not buy glasses everytime he goes out.

(Donnie, probably): "Leon, why don't you use your glasses? You are making your eyes even smaller trying to read that sign"

(Dumbo): "No, no! que dices weon? I only need the glasses when i'm reading!"

~Loves stripes in his clothing. In any shape and thickness.

~Low-key uses Donnie button up shirts because he does think Donnie looks so well in em, but he's a little more broad than him (Thicc bacc, bicc arms) so he had tear some up, or pop a button or too.

~Guy who would wear anything and don't give a shit if he doesn't have a defined style. One day he's with that graphic tee, flashy bermudas and some sandals and the other day using some jeans, saggy big sweater, a beret and some fine boots.

~ Loves boots more than sneakers. Got good traction with em. But no one can replace las CHANCLAS i'm telling you, he's so comfortable flipping & flopping.

~ He's hairy. Really hairy. Don't shave, except the faice. He's got that baby face and the trace of where the beard could be. It ain't that thick sandpaper beard aftershave tho, Raph taught him the tricks to the silk road.

~Them sideburns tho, neAT-O.

~He ain't got former training, just some random stuff he's learned from Donnie and Raph. Nontheless, he's the trickster and can go dirty on fighting just to save his ass. But sometimes, his big mouth saves his dumb ass from trouble. (2/100 times, the other 98 times it makes it worse)

~Plus: He's into parkour a lot. Takes Mikey out so he can tag some walls uphigh. These trips are the reason he gets in fights more than his other brothers, he's gotta stick out for his brother in case shit goes down, but mostly because he's a loudmouth and sometimes he deserves it cuz he starts the fire tbh.

~ Raph, my soft boy. He still BIG™, ain't ripped like a physiculturist, gotta admit, abs are in fact chocolate abs but got a chunky yet funky tone to it. Big ass arms, to strong to carry my depression and smash all my worries.

~ Obviously African-American, I just imagine this warm undertone to his skin. Thick eyebrows (plucks out his unibrow, and nothing more, that natural angled eyebrow perfect as it is).

~ Hairy complexion (but not as hairy as Leo) to pull out a balbo beard, faded to his hair, then starts the faded high top, (not that high tho) with that cotton natural hair (raph is just my dream tbh).

~ My boy rocks denim everything. But got this particular worn off denim jacket he treats like one of his extremities. It's kinda saggy, old, several splashes of god knows what substances... But he wears it like the most precious thing, his brothers got him for his birthday, selling candy bars and other sweet goodies. Made him cry like a bitch.

~ Snaggletooth fang. I got this random HC that Raph got it in a fight with one of his brothers when he was younger. His first tooth after his decidious teeth, he was so happy, finally "maturing" in his words. In his younger years he struggled a LOT with angry issues, (mainly, as the oldest, he understood a little big more about the rejection above the city for mutants, and built up this feeling of despite).

One day, one of his brothers made him really fucking angry, they got in a physical fight, that ended with his crooked fang, but yet, Raph is BIG and he can't measure his strenght sometimes. Then, his brother is crying in pain, screaming how bad can he treat his brother, as if he didn't love them, just as the people above.

He wasn't angry cuz the teeth (cuz he showed it off, like it made him an adult already), he broke down because he was always feeling so damn angry, being the oldest and yet he was beating their younger siblings over some dumb shit and treated them like people in the surface would. Raph is challenged each day, when he sees his face in the mirror, with the tooth projecting outwards as reminder of all the rage he had to let go to protect their brothers, to make a change on his perspective and emotions, to keep their family and himself happy.

I think this mind set change was the thing that settled Raph as a leader. He got stronger, not physicially, but mentally and emocionally, for the sake of his family.

This HC can be translated somehow to the Human AU but i'm not sure the origin of Raph's rage yet.

~ Would wear any shirt that has anything he likes, PLUS if it is in red. He just loves red. He's the only one obvious with their color preference. Red caps, shirts, jackets, pants and tons of sneakers.

~ Likes jeans but loves that kind of bermuda cut shorts and not all the way down pants. He's got some C A L F S with capitals.

~ Luckily, he does wear matching socks. (We can't see Don's most of the time but Raph shows more leg so).

~Wrist wrist wrist wrist wrist wrist. Loves wrist accesories and probably would wrap around anything on his wrist.

~He's got that classic™ Rock Lee from Naruto bandages from training and work out and sometimes he's just to tired to take off the shin pads.

~Don't show em much but got some big ass brass knuckles in his pockets in case someone messes the fuck up with his brothers. (He would easily let go if it was just him, he's a master of templance, but be warned: not with his family)

Plus: Got one tatto, in his back, below the neck, this celtic rune (we know that celtic runes have several meanings, so he took one with various that would fit him) a Gebo, that can mean partnership, generosity and sacrifice.

DONNA TELL EM

~ For starts, Donnie is my asian bean. Creamy pale skin, monolid eyes, with that puffy under eyelid, of course noticeable dark circles, but he got that EYESMILE BOI. (You know that people who kept straight face but the eyes are just screaming happiness??? That kind of eyesmile)

~ Hair black, thin, straight cut (his hair is kinda wavy) at his shoulder's lenght, got that fade styling in the back tho, usually wrapped in a high ponytail/bun. (Mikey loves to mess with his hair).

~ He's got that thin eyebrow hair, so, he fills em up to make them thicker, so gives him more of an assertive feature. (Also he is jealous of Leo and Raph eyebrows, nontheless edge so sharp to cut a bitch) Got that hairless complexion so not much about facial hair.

~ Obviously keeps them THIGHS™. (So far, to me their complexion on the show is the same as in the human AU so... ) Jeans were invented to the sole purpose to fit Donnie so well.

~To wear, jeans are a go to, but damn sweatpants comfy AF. Big old sweatshirts, swearters and hoodies. Underneat, digs button shirts, short or long, never with flashy prints, yet some minor deco, (to him is all in the elegance....). Raph and Donnie share an interest on sneakers, so he can wear like 1 hoodie for 10 days straight but a different sneaker each.

~But wears missmatched socks like the fuck out of here BOI, looking neat and clean and you come out with this yeeyee ass bullshit.

~ Donnie hides the fact that he's riPPED under the hoodies and sweatpants often, (he's tall as shit and his brothers calling him spagethi bOI don't help much) so people make the assumption he's the weakest of his brothers. He's the only graduated on black belt on Karate and knows his shit on MMA. On his younger years he was indeed saved many times by Raph's strenght, Mikey's swiftyness and Leon's cunning. This "being the weak" complex got to his head and started training solo. His brothers are amazed of Donnie's self-improvement and he often disguises it as the "i did it so i wouldnt be the weakest, you better watch out when i supass yall" but they all know he suffered inmensely seeing his brothers hurt because of him, so if they go down he does too, to protect them.

Plus: Complementary headphones with neon designs, blasting nightcore, dubstep and DnB songs with every Donnie purchased.

BG:

In my AU, these kids grew up really poor. They learned the value of hardwork since they were really young. Like in the Teetle Universe, people see them as misfits. Especially, because they are a "patched up family" (they are not blood related) and being looked down by the economic factor, mostly.

They got some real internal issues. But, the only thing that keeps them sane is how tight their brotherhood is.

Donnie and Raph have a job and go to college. Struggle a lot with their younger siblings rebellious stage.

Leon and Mikey go to highschool and do some baked goodies or art comissions to have some sort of income. Ain't fond of school that much, real troublemakers.

April it's a freshman in college and has much more accomodated life, but somehow, she's always felt she doesn't belong to anywhere, until she meet our boys. April learns a lot of life hardships while hanging out with em.

This would be, basically the series:

April meets this guys, this is sort of a slice of life anime, with lots of comedy and fun shots, however it develops around April learning valuable lessons that will help her as an adult, about friendship, loyalty, respect, empathy and kindness, after all the things the boys are going through.

I'm not sure how am I gonna accomodate Splinter in this, but eventually I'll figure it out.

I'm not got at drawing but i'm gonna try to make some of their designs.

A/N: being friends part 2; leo addition. thinking about offering requests, but i’ve still got those prompts i want to work on. i’m feelin’ a little conflicted in priorities

- oof. what have you done.

- you two are a whirlwind of disaster.

- mostly because he taught you how to skateboard and you’ve made it a mission to master all the tricks he knows and then some. but it is unanimously agreed - minus leo - that no, the lair isn’t a place for someone who just learned how to skateboard. much less you who has hard luck with clumsiness.

- it was great that one time you grinded your board on don’s face by accident (he was passing by at the oh so wrong time). he was more pissed than you’ve ever seen him, but before you could apologize, and after you say he shouldn't have been so concentrated on his tablet, you were guffawing madly with leo at his misfortune. (once you pulled yourself together and went to don’s lab, he had some choice words for you. luckily, you knew a few magic ones)

- you have bad luck like him and often bump into something, trip, ect. doctor mike patches both of you up on a regular basis.

- doc don does when it's something more severe than what can be swatched by band aids (i.e, a gash down the back of your forearm that needed ten stitches. you've never seen mike bawl his eyes out more than when he sat through the process with you- leo was busy being way to nauseous about blood and all that exposed flesh to even be in the lab. and you were just trying to comfort mike, sure it hurt but you’ve broken that same arm when you were younger. the thought doesn’t really soothe mike)

- he’s got his work cut out for him because you both like rough housing. you didn’t usually win in the past, but since you started joining their training sessions (mostly to observe what it is that their mentor and father figure teaches them) and doing your own shoot boxing training on the side, you don’t let him win easy. but, honestly, it’s more like you two are antsy, clumsy dogs swatting at each other in a messy tangle of wrestling limbs.

- you love his one liners. and you mean that. sincerely.

- everyone though you were crazy to like them, but then it started. the punening.

- your uncle had this old joke book full of bad, awful, no good puns, and when you were little and got bored, you would read it. so now, you knew ever speck of puns from it and the new ones you made up or found out about.

- also, it feels really great to encourage your friend to make more one liners since you know the struggle. not everyone has the capability of understanding the taste in A class humor you two shared.

- he helps you make puns too.

- he’s questioned a few of your quirks before, like blanking out while you’re talking about something - the names of certain things just leave you sometimes -, or how competitive you can get. you’ve also got the patience of a god when it comes to letting them have their way with you on certain things. like when april enforces herself onto you when she wants to practice doing makeup - which you don’t wear all that much -, or mikey and his body paint needs that could have you sitting somewhere for an hour or more. he envied you, really.

- he had a pretty short attention span half the time.

- you shrug and just say that there’s stuff they do that you think is cool or weird too.

- the brothers have told you before that it was strange; having a new friend. and they enjoy learning your preferences and other things about you. you just wish leo could learn to understand your concept of personal space sometimes.- he likes to just assert himself near you whenever he can, and you mostly didn’t mind, but there are times when, like don, you need air.

- you can’t say you don’t feel bad when he’s skateboarding or moping around like a despondent fish.

- he just gets nervous about what you think of him as a friend sometimes. he's clingy like that.

- speaking of clingy; surprise hugs like mike.

- but like really, scare the shit out of you surprise.

- he's a master of scares and getting scared as piss makes you peeved off. so, you're proud to say you punched him in the windpipe a couple times when he caught you at the wrong angle or when your spidey senses actually worked.

- ho boy, the scares aren't the only things he does.

- pranks. and once you express how much you'll kick his ass if he tries to prank you again, he lets you join in, and when he's ever in the trickster mood; locals beware.

- the shit you guys pull is enough to put everyone on edge.

- there was one time when you borrowed some stuff from april and put false lashes, way too much eye shadow, ruby red lipstick and a voluminous, curly pink wig on raph after an intense training session almost everyone passed out after.

- he looked like a whole (infuriated) queen when he woke up and you two couldn't stop laughing for weeks after the incident. you still do whenever it crops up in conversation. ("Heh, hey, remember operation Ms. Pink?" "Snrk- shut up Lee, he's looking over here." "He is? Oh shit.")

- it was the first time you ever saw raph lose his temper, like someone pulled the tick on a grenade, and it was worth it. mostly because it was more funny than scary- all he really when he caught leo was throttled him and make him say uncle.

- thankfully he chased after his brother more than you too and the sight of that, combined with mike squrrieled on raph's back trying to calm him down while trying not to also laugh and make things worse, will be imprinted forever in your memory.

- leo knows a ton of good places to get away to when he wants to stretch his legs.

- you wonder how he found them considering he can't really go topside much, but apparently he and april, and sometimes mike, used to all the time when he was younger and blended in a lot better with just some layers of clothes. his shell is way too obvious nowadays to try to pull the same stunt.

- he knows the best sushi shops, asian markets (shell yeah did you make a pit stop there to get stuff for mike), abandoned warehouses and just gems people otherwise wouldn't know about or glaze over in their normal commute of the city.

- he's got an eye for things, even if he seems a little dull or oblivious sometimes, like his little brother who has also proven his smarts to you.

- leonardo's got wit, like his packed, crappy one liners.

- he's also pretty good at motivational talks when you're down. or at least, making you forget about the issue because you can see how hard he's trying.

- he's a great, caring guy. even when he’s trying in vain to prove he’s right against your opinions.

Bonus:

"Oi pretty boy,"

Leo looks at you, batting his eyes and getting into this languid pose on the couch, "Yes?~"

You can't keep a straight face, hard as you try, and sigh loudly.

"C'mere, I was gonna yell at ya for breaking another one of my mugs that I always remind you not to fuckin' use-"

"But then why do they have quotes that I can synch with?-"

"This one said Cunt. The handle was the C." you had come bearing that very handle and waved it around for emphasis.

Leonardo blinks slow and it seems like a swollen bubble of realization just popped for him.

"...Oh. Well that's not very nice. That's probably why it broke."

"Leo."

This is why you bring the ugly duckling of your mug collection on your next sleepover at the lair. It's the only one that you're one hundred percent sure is bulletproof. But you're still waiting for the day he proves you wrong and you shamble into the kitchen to find it like all the others. (Which Mikey has taken the glass bits of and glued together to make a mug crypt that looks like a professionally made, stained glass window sheet hung up in his room.)

Soooo, this is my first time posting something on Tumblr, ever! My friend above tagged me in this, so hopefully I’ll get this post right. :3

1. War of the planet of the apes

I grew up LOVING the entire Ape series, and it saddens me to see that this may be the last one. The acting in this movie was incredible, the CGI was on point, and I was rooting for the apes till the end. Caesar is forever the greatest ape and leader in my eyes!

2. Spiderman: Homecoming

I’ll admit that I was very hesitant when they announced another reboot of Spider man. I wasn’t sure about Tom Holland at first because I grew up as a dedicated Toby Maguire Spider man fan, but after watching this movie I absolutely fell in love with this kid! He’s so precious, and dedicated to be an Avenger, and the father/son interactions between him and Tony are to die for! I can’t wait until the sequel! XD

3. Thor: Ragnarok

Thor is by far my #1 favorite superhero in the Marvel Universe! This movie was awesome, and I adore the love-hate relationship he has with Loki. Loki is probably my favorite Marvel villain? I’m not even sure if Loki is actually attempting to be a good guy or not. *shrugs* Well, then again, he is the Trickster god. XD

4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows

Ah, yes! My boys! (Mikey’s forever my precious favorite!) :D

Now, this movie did get some hate from the audience, and I will agree that the storyline could have been improved just a little, but the cool character designs and voice acting was what took my breath away in this movie. I heard that there might be a reboot, but I hope that they keep these designs and the voices! D:

5. Casino

Yes! Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci in the same movie is an absolute must watch! I loved watching Mobster movies growing up, and this definitely takes the cake! Wonderful acting, wonderful story, but it all resulted in every character’s downfall, sadly. :(

6. Goodfellas

Like I said before, I LOVE Mobster movies! And I think that Goodfellas was the second one I ever watched that was mafia related. The storytelling was astounding, and it kinda made me wish I was one of the ladies living the lavish life in the movie, minus the whole abuse and drug-related stuff! XD

And as I mentioned before, a movie with  Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci is a MUST WATCH!!!!

7. The Godfather

A pure classic! The very first mafia movie I ever watched, and I seen the whole trilogy about a hundred times! XD

Actors, amazing! Story, outstanding! There’s probably nothing about this movie that I don’t love. The Godfather really got me obsessed with anything mafia-related, including Goodfellas, Casino, Scarface, and the Sopranos.  

8. Chocolat

This movie right here became an instant favorite of mine before I even declared it a favorite. I stumbled across Chocolat when I was trying to search for something to watch one day, and just the name itself brought me in (Because I love chocolate and anything related to sweets! :3) and I suddenly had the urge to bake after watching it!

Chocolat was a fun story that teaches a lesson near the end, and you can’t help but grow attached to the characters all throughout the movie. But be warned! You will grow hungry near the end! XD

9.Waiting to Exhale

Honestly, it was this clip above that I saw on Youtube that made me want to see the whole movie! (Plus, I love Angela Bassett!) XD

I was pretty young when I first saw it, not really getting it at first, but once I rewatched it as I got older I finally understood what the heck the lesson was throughout the movie! :P

This is a movie that should make every woman going through struggles feel strong near the end. There are scene for everyone here! They’ll make you laugh, they’ll make you cry, they’ll even make you angry! This movie is one huge emotional rollercoster, and it’s definitely  worth the watch. 

10. Marie Antoinette 

And last, but not least, the movie that got me obsessed with one Queen forever. Marie Antoinette! It’s sad what happened to her, and I wish that she had been spared in real life, but other than that I think that this movie represents Marie to a T! 

Yet again, another movie that will make you hungry AND make you wish that you were there to attend those lavish parties the last Queen of France attended! I loved this movie and have watched it nearly a hundred times. It’s fun yet sad at the same time, and you have mixed emotions about it near the end. I must watch in my opinion, though!

Is any TMNT fan going to stick around?

I'm doing a bunch of little Rise fics, including that first one based on that dream I had where 2018 Mikey gets amnesia and psionics from a skull fracture. And the fic based on that other dream I had where 2018 met 2003 and 2003 Leo tried to adopt 2018 Mikey and 2018 Raph freaked out at 2003 Raph for his attitude. I kind of want to wait for more episodes to air before I start publishing on AO3. But there are some folks waiting, including very very patient beta readers.

I'm already on WordPress, Discord, Dreamwidth (aka The Better LiveJournal), and Mastodon, and I plan on joining Pillowfort soon. But I don't plan on leaving Tumblr until it gets as truly insufferable as LiveJournal got. So if you're going to be here or and on those other platforms, let me know because I loved the readership I got through this hellsite.
