Many people have pointed out that Better Call Saul makes Breaking Bad a ghost story on top of the crime/family drama, but I wasn't prepared for just how haunted BCS is in itself, especially in the last few episodes of season 6.

You have Chuck's ghost lingering in the conference room of HHM, literally watching Howard's downfall in the form of Chuck's portrait on the wall.

You have Jimmy breaking down and striding over to where Howard died, pointing at the exact spot on the floor and screaming how this is all Howard's fault, before gesturing to the space where Lalo stood, trying to shift his guilt onto two dead men.

There's Max's metaphorical body on the ground next to the pool where Eladio tells Gustavo that he sees hate in his eyes.

There's Mike trying to choke down the grief of two dead sons as he buries his guns under his floorboards.

And then there's Nacho's last stand, played out almost beat by beat in Gustavo's confrontation with Lalo.

This one makes me go crazy because of just how many echoes to Rock and A Hard Place you can find. In both scenarios, Nacho and Gustavo are disarmed and outgunned, roughed up and made a spectacle for an audience, and in both cases, Nacho and Gustavo play along with this concept of a performance, distracting their captors with an outrageously defiant speech, before striking out with their improvised weapon (Nacho with the glass shard, Gustavo with the power cable) and reaching for the gun.

And the haunting becomes even more poetic and satisfying when we think about how Gustavo's moment of dark victory will inevitably be undone by the same man who once snatched away his satisfaction. Nacho's ghost haunts the entire cartel plot line spanning from S6 of BCS to all of BrBa; you see him in Tuco's extreme paranoia, Krazy-8's mannerism, Mike's protectiveness over Jesse, Gustavo's decision to reward rather than intimidate, and, of course, the chair that undoes Gustavo's empire.

💤How do they sleep?

I answered this very briefly for Kim in the last headcanon meme but I didn't go very much into detail! But again I will share a specific piece of art because when I saw it I incorporated it into my canon - this piece from Danielcalmdown - but I picture Kim as sleeping in a really tight and protective ball. To me it feels most like him, and I think it serves multiple purposes of 1) he is someone that runs very cold, and so this is just a warmer sleeping position 2) it feels safe and 3) I think he's been sleeping like that basically his entire life and he seems like a creature of habit. If Harry were there then I think he would be comfortable as the big spoon and would prefer that, but if he were the little spoon then he would end up curled up in a ball with Harry on his back.

🪶How do they laugh?

AHHHHH HIS LAUGH There are so many moments where he's laughing in the game but I can't remember any of them being particularly like, loud and boisterous. His laugh is always like. . . as if they are in between the words he's saying. I think there's multiple times I would describe him as laughing while he's talking, and it's really obvious but still not easily noticeable to anyone who isn't like, directly in the conversation at the moment.

I think there is probably a very small chance that Harry could make him actually burst into laughter while in public, but in private he's a little more free with it.

(a little NSFW here, and also I think I posted this HC once before somewhere) I also think Harry would like making him laugh during sex, coincidentally that's also when Kim is the most free with it. A joke that would make him smile slightly in public would make him full-on snort while in the bedroom.

🍻What kind of drunk are they?

He gets soooooo red in the face I think, and I think more sociable. If he's tipsy then he's just kind of loose but if he's DRUNK? Like will feel it in the morning? I think he's accidentally trapping a random person in a corner and talking about his car for half an hour. And the next morning he will get so embarrassed.

🗡️ What is a scar that they have but never talk about?

In general I don't picture him as the type of guy to unprompted share his scar stories. Like if a bunch of other men are talking about the times they've been shot and lifting their shirts or whatever, he would at best sip his coffee and not give any input into the conversation. And if asked directly he will briefly share the encounter but not with as much pride as other officers.

I do headcanon him as having broken his nose multiple times in his life and I think at least one of those instances, and the very first time he broke his nose, left a little scar on the bridge. If asked he will even more briefly share a story of breaking it during RCM training, which is true, but the scar actually occurred from when he was being bullied as a kid and he wouldn't ever share that. Harry with a high enough. . . empathy, I think, would catch it.
