Tim Kretschmer was born on July 27, 1991, in Leutenbach, Germany. He lived with his parents and sister. While alive, Tim loved playing tennis and took lessons with a coach and a team. This coach characterized Tim as a normal boy, who got on well with his teammates, although he was arrogant from time to time, as well as putting them down. The coach also said that Tim had a lot of difficulty dealing with defeats, expressing anguish, suffering and anger, where most of the time he had relatively aggressive behaviors of throwing his racket on the ground. In addition to tennis, Tim Kretschmer was also very fond of video games, especially Counter-Strike. He was also very fond of guns, and had pressure guns in his bedroom. This love of guns came from Tim's father, who also loved guns and shooting. Tim's father is said to have owned 15 guns. Mr. Kretschmer took his son to shooting clubs, and it was there that the boy learned to shoot. The boy also liked to research attacks and attacks involving mass killings, and did a lot of research into 9/11 and the Erfurt massacre, which took place in 2002. Tim was generally described as a quiet, distant and isolated boy. He graduated in 2008 at the age of 17.

March 11, 2009, was the day Tim decided he was going to commit a tragedy. The murder weapon was a Beretta caliber 9mm semi-automatic pistol from his father's collection. Tim went to his school, where he had graduated at the end of the previous year, and started shooting from the second floor. He killed around five people right away, and most of them died from shots to the head, revealing the boy's skill in handling the pistol. He continued to enter other rooms on the floor and shoot more people. He had no specific targets and, due to his behavior during the attack, was classified as a “spree shooting”. This all took about 2-3 minutes, and the police arrived at the scene very early on.

Tim exchanged gunfire with some police officers and began to run out of the school. While on the run, Kretschmer killed a janitor of a psychiatric institution near the school. The police surrounded the building, unaware of the escape, and searched for Tim in Winnenden for two hours, without success. Then, some 10 minutes later, Kretschmer hijacked a vehicle in a parking lot. From the back seat, holding his pistol as a threat, Tim ordered the man driving the Volkswagen minivan to drive to the town of Wendling, about 40km from Winnenden.

The driver of the hijacked minivan threw it onto a road against a stationary police car and threw himself out of the minivan. Tim, meanwhile, got out of the vehicle and started running. He entered a Volkswagen dealership, where he killed a salesman and a customer. This time, without a fatal bullet, they were found with 13 bullets in their bodies. From then on, Tim Kretschmer started shooting randomly at people in the street, passing vehicles and buildings. The police arrived at the scene and fired 8 shots at Tim, who had both legs wounded. He fired 12 shots at the police, then reloaded his gun and shot himself in the head.

Much has been speculated about the massacre, because the boy was quiet, reserved and few people had anything to say about him. Theories have been raised that he was a misogynist or that he targeted women, because most of the victims he killed while still at school were girls. The massacre was very unexpected, and a curious fact is that some students were found dead with bullets in their heads, while still holding pens in their hands. The case of Tim Kretschmer served to fuel the discourse of a possible “incel danger”, and various rumors emerged.

During the forensics and crime scene investigation, the police received several phone calls claiming to have accessed posts that Tim allegedly made before the massacre, in which he said things like: “I'm sick of this life”, “everyone laughs at me” and “no one recognizes my potential”, claiming that this was said in a chat room. In addition to these, they said that there was an explicit message warning them of what was going to happen:

- “I have guns and I'm going to my ex-school in the morning and have a proper ‘barbecue’”, he said.

- In these reports to the police, they said he threatened that people should “watch out” for what would happen the next day. "You'll hear about me tomorrow. Remember the name of the place: Winnenden."

- Tim's messages were recorded by an internet user from Bavaria who, at the time, didn't take them seriously. After the massacre, he retrieved the text and informed the police about the case, according to the minister.

Hey anon, I want you to know that the desire to just post this with a trap card and call it a day was very strong. Because this is a discourse topic. But I’m gonna do my best to answer you in my best attempt at good faith. May not come across that way, 🤷‍♀️ doing my best.

First off, this is about watching games and interacting with actual sports and its fans online and offline, not fanworks, fanfic, nor rpf. RPF is fine. I’m not talking about it. If you want to be an rpf-centric hockey fan— good for you. I’m talking about watching hockey games.

Is it wrong for you to watch hockey for the blorbos? There’s no right way to watch hockey. There’s no right reason. As long as you aren’t stalking someone or committing a crime, then watch for the reasons you want to watch. Favorite players give the game color and spice. They can lead to new favorite teams or more favorite players if you’ve got an open heart. The problem starts when you say one reason (your reason) is better than other reasons or that every person should share your reason. It’s very easy to talk down to other fans because obviously you’re right. It’s very easy to get talked down to by others for those same reasons, and I’m sorry if that’s happened to you. As you can see, this is where we get discourse.

(I am specifically using favorite players because these are real people and it’s really easy to forget that between RPF and the word blorbo. Hockey isn’t scripted. If you want scripted sports go check out wrestling, I promise queer wrestling is a bunch of fun.)

Lke wins are cool but it's more important to me that my blorbos are vibing. That’s nice. Genuinely I’m glad you get enjoyment out of your favorite players doing well. I care that my team wins. It sucks when the team wins and my favorite player has a bad game and it sucks when the team loses and my favorite player had an objectively excellent game. For me, the two inform each other. I can’t just put my desire to see my team win on the shelf and root for the players when it’s a team sport. Sometimes it works, but not always.

To put all my cards on the table I’m a team-centric fan first, a player-centric fan second, and a sport-centric fan third. What that means in practice is I watch hockey games for my team, then my favorite players, and then for the love of the sport. Take women’s hockey for example. I don’t have a team nor a favorite player which is why I catch one game out of every twelve and don’t always make it through a game. It’s not a value judgement, it’s just a statement of facts. The sport is nice but I care about my team doing well and my favorite players doing well and I care about the team more.

Because I don’t agree with that. I want my team to win every year. I care that my team doesn’t. I don’t want anyone else to win. I don’t care that my emotional support depth forward from last season is having by all accounts a fantastic season and is much beloved. He should be having it with my team or not at all for all I care. This is why former players are dead to me. This is not a polite viewpoint, which is why I don’t tend to say it to peoples faces. Part of being a little hater sometimes is wanting my team to win and every other team to non-lethally die in a fire (no injuries pls).

To say it’s more realistic that my team can’t win it all may be true but it’s also the exact wrong platitude to say to me because idk I live in a fantasy land where every year could be our year and then by the time playoffs roll around without my team in them, well the sport is dead to me. I’m okay with that. Even beyond that, if you came up to me and said “I know the pens suck but at least Sid hit another milestone” my first instinct is to say “that’s nice, I wish we won.” Can you see where the disconnect and the arguing starts? If I reversed it and said “sorry your boy had a bad game, at least the team won” would you not feel upset because it may not actually be effective at cheering you up. Thats where the perceived wrongness you’re asking about comes from. People with different priorities offering platitudes that don’t work. Personally I’ve seen enough Sid milestones this season that I do think it kinda sucks if he gets the milestone and we still lose the game. I’m pretty sure the entire team feels that way too which is why it was nice that we won Geno’s milestone game.

Okay. Now this. This is a discourse opinion. A lot of single-player-centric fans don’t care if the team is an on fire trash heap so long as no one says a bad word about their blorbo. Usually you can coexist with these fans, but some of them project so hard onto the player that they then take any criticism as criticism against themselves. I’ve seen people start shouting in the lb because “nobody appreciates [player] the way I appreciate him” and “you should all be ashamed of yourselves.” It makes for an unfun environment to be in. I hang out in the lb because I enjoy the vibes of watching hockey in a group. Not to be yelled at when I say “ugh that was a bad play by [player] and the other team scored.” Which is really fucking mild compared to some of the hate I see get thrown around about other players that I’m not repeating.

So no nothing wrong with being a player-first fan. Just think about how you interact with other fans and what vibes you’re putting into the spaces you’re creating and inhabiting. Are you allowing reasonable criticism? Are you lashing out at other fans for “doing fandom wrong?” If other fans are making you feel like you’re doing fandom wrong, I’m very sorry you feel that way and you should probably block them or find other fandom spaces.

The thing about shonen is that “kids” are put in insane situations. Like, that’s the entire genre/trope of shonen — it’s literally “boy” going on The Hero’s Journey™️. However, I guarantee 99% of shonen aged ppl would not be as brave, mature, or mentally collected/grounded/tough as characters in shonens.

In other words, altho the genre of shonen inherently means characters are often teenagers, as someone who’s older, I don’t watch shonen and think, “Ah, yes, this is realistic”. Realistically, shonen characters would be 18+, if not in their fricking 30s or something. 😂

This isn’t to entirely dismiss teenagers’ capabilities, but like, do you remember being a teenager? How do you think you’d fare in shonen circumstances? I like to imagine I’d be badass, but realistically most ppl—myself included 😆—prob wouldn’t be able to step up (whether physically, mentally, or emotionally) to villains, curses, demons, etc in the ways that’re depicted fictionally.

As a young adult (I’m 22), I feel somewhat more capable—compared to when I was, say, 16—of the heroics and maturity portrayed in shonen, and fiction in general (w/, ofc, the caveat that I live in the “real” world, so obvi I won’t encounter most shonen things anyway 😅). Thus, when I watch shonen, I generally don’t think of the characters as their canon ages. Sure, it takes a lil compartmentalizing when they’re literally in high school i.e. BNHA or their ages are occasionally discussed i.e. KNY, but shonen characters can go from acting their age to acting like they’re 33 on the flip of a dime.

This duality of shonen is what opens it to such age discourse. On one hand, it’s very clear (to me, at least) that shonen characters are far from “normal”, and that their ages are somewhat arbitrary bc they’re designed more to fit the genre vs what’s realistic of certain ages. However, their ages aren’t entirely arbitrary either, so it’s understandable that many ppl still take them at face value to be teenagers. What I’m trying to get at is: a lot of writers age up characters bc the characters themselves are already written w/ implications and qualities of a much older person.

To finally get to your question about Tanjirou vs Muichiro: I suppose, for me, the difference is how they’re presented. W/ Muichiro, his age is constantly emphasized bc it’s a significant aspect of how his character relates and compares to others — especially as a Hashira. Whereas Tanjirou, while still a teenager w/ his teenager moments, also has the shonen-protagonist-traits aka is depicted as “a BOY” but also “in INSANE situations that ~most boys, would, in fact, not be able to handle in the slightest”.

I feel comfortable aging up Tanjirou for NSFW content bc—due to his overall portrayal—I can actually imagine him being older. I feel uncomfortable aging up Muichiro for NSFW content bc—due to his overall portrayal—I struggle to imagine him being older. It really comes down to my connection to characters, my comfortability w/ them, and how I perceive them. These connections, comfortability, and perceptions can absolutely differ from writer to writer, person to person, and that’s okay.

At the risk of being cancelled 💀, I’m also gonna put it out there that where I’m from, the legal age of consent’s 16 — I was having sex at 16. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m not saying the age of consent means you should immediately start having sex at that age, and there’re plenty of sound arguments for why the legal age of consent should universally be 18+. What I am saying tho is that teenagers having sex is 100% legal in many places, and I think it’s important to hold space for the fact that many ppl don’t wait until 18 to become sexually active. It isn’t unrealistic for teenagers to have sex, and it lowkey irks me how there seems to be very few safe spaces for that truth to exist.

That being said, if I was going to write a teenager having sex, then they’d be having sex w/ another teenager. 👍🏽

I don't know if you watch 911 as much as 911ls or how active you are on twitter, but how do you feel about the buddie vs tarlos wars that are a constant thing? I see it start more from the buddie fans than the tarlos fans, because every time we get a new spoiler, picture or anything posted about tarlos at all, they always slide in to start talking trash and about how buddie is the superior ship. It can get quite irritating especially when most of the time they're actually complaining about the LACK of buddie/buddie screen time.

these fandom wars are exactly why i am not on twitter anymore. i have never unprovoked shat on buddie the way those fans do on tarlos. i tend to keep quiet about my opinion on this bc i know a lot of my moots and friends watch both (as do i) but i’m gonna say this very loud and clear as my stance on it.

if you support attacking fans of a different ship just to make yourself feel good or even worse, to make them feel bad, you are discrediting your ship and pushing apprehension towards it.

i have dealt with so much shit from buddie twt stans that any fiber of my being that ever wanted buddie canon is fucking gone. the ppl attacking tarlos to ‘prove that buddie is better’ have pushed me to a point where i don’t get much enjoyment out of og and interacting with the fandom much anymore because even though i know my og moots are wonderful, kind, beautiful people, it just seems overwhelmingly buddie buddie buddie and any mention of them sparks fight or flight in me, and it sucks.

i’ve been watching og since day one. i was quite literally 15 when 1.01 came out, and i fell in love with the format and the stories and looking into these characters lives, and at this point all i see while watching it is how ‘buddie stan’s are going to have a field day with this’. i’ve kind of distanced myself from og bc of this, and i know a lot of people who have distanced themselves from ls because of a few toxic ls creators out there (y’all know who).

comparing ships is not going to get you anywhere when everything in media is subjective. i hate horror, my friends love horror. i’m indifferent towards buddie, my friends love it, and i will support them in that if they don’t fucking attack me for being attached to my boys.

fandom is based off of mutual love of a piece of art or media, and in my opinion, one of the biggest foundations of live should be respect. please just respect one another, regardless if they like tarlos or buddie, because they can have a favorite without discrediting the other.

AoS Framework rant yaaaay

(pls remember these are just my opinions :))

I recently rewatched season 4 for the third time, and I think I finally put my finger on what feels so off to me about Fitz’s framework storyline.

Just a warning: I’ll be discussing the concepts of how childhood abuse affects people, though it’s fairly vague.

The framework plays with the concept of nature vs nurture and, frankly, I hate it. The idea that simply being raised by an abuser will by default make you a bad person too is disgusting and harmful.

They were trying to make Fitz a mirror image to Ward: if Ward had only had a good influence, he would have been a good person; if Fitz had a bad one, he would have followed Ward’s dark path.

This is so disrespectful to abuse survivors, and it removes culpability from full grown adults.

We are responsible for our choices. No one else. Sure, the people we meet in our lives have a big effect on us. They can help or hinder us. But at the end of the day, we are responsible for our actions.

Fitz is a good person. He wouldn’t have become the horrible person we see in the framework just because his dad was around. If anything, I think he would have been an even more pronounced version of the Fitz we see in season one; skittish, anxious, and leery of authority.

Ward also chose his own path. Sure, while he was still a child, I can get behind the idea that he was manipulated into doing bad things. But he chose his way after that.

A sense of obligation to Garret? Sure. But even after his mentor was long dead, he still chose to restart Hydra on his own, to get revenge, to continue down a dark path.

The only way I can figure Fitz’s framework storyline in my head, is that Aida must have actively got inside Fitz’s brain and messed with him and his story more than the others. She was obsessed with him, and she lies to him after they come out of the framework (saying that everything she did in the framework was at Radcliffe’s orders, despite a large amount of it being for her own gain).

I have to believe that she altered him somehow. This would also make sense in explaining why he is the only member of the team to later develop the symptoms he did, despite many of them having their head filled with two lives. Fitz was the only one shown to not be able to distinguish the two, which would make sense if Aida had a more direct impact on his brain.

I also find this storyline frustrating because of the discourse it has created in the fandom. That it’s okay to support Ward because the framework proves he’s just a poor little baby who was manipulated.

He is a full grown adult.

Yes, I do feel bad for Ward, I do feel he had a lot of potential and I kind of wish he had gotten a redemption arc. But he didn’t. He made his choices, no one else made them for him. Infantilizing him and blaming all of his actions on Garret is not okay.

ALSO - touching again on the implication that we become bad people if we’re manipulated - this disregards how hard it is to grow up in a horrible home and still come out a compassionate and caring person. So many people have absolutely disgusting parents, and yet grow up to be empathetic, kind, and good people. Suggesting otherwise feels very dismissive and disrespectful to their struggles and trauma.

In the same line of thinking, parents can do everything right and someone can still grow to be cruel and abusive.

BECAUSE WE MAKE OUR OWN CHOICES AND ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR OWN ACTIONS AND- 🫠

In short, Fitz and Ward’s storylines were horribly over-simplified in s4. There is so much nuance there, and to suggest that we are nothing more than a product of our environment is kind of ridiculous offensive, imo.

Hey mun, clearly Delphini thinks her parents love her.. but do you actually think that’s fits their characterization?

[OOC: Sorry to hit you guys with so many out of character posts at once, but I am attempting to really get through my ask box so.. Here we are.

Anyways, I have a lot of opinions regarding the general characterization that the fandom seems to toss on LV and Bellatrix - I would argue that most of the things I see and read I don't agree with.. That being said, you are asking for my opinion, so please keep that in mind as you read the below, mind you, I am always open for some healthy discourse.

So let's start with Lord Voldemort, who is easily the more complicated of the two. Most of the fandom seems to be so quick to dismiss LV as unable to love, and why? Because his conception is rooted in a love potion? Because of the biased words spoken from Dumbledore to HP? Yikes. I find that entire explanation to be water downed and misleading. If anything, I would argue that love was something that LV was never able to really recognize, it was never something he was shown/given through all of those fundamental years. Even Hogwarts who was there to love him? To show him what that looked like, what that felt like? I am not saying by any means that he could have been saved, but at the least I'd rather attribute his cold nature to some subset of reactive attachment as opposed to a love potion, really dismissing his ability to love entirely seems unfair to me. Important again to note that his entire comprehension of love has been completely objective and impersonal for most of his life. Until Bellatrix. Bella brings to the table this borderline obsessive love that is, for once, aimed at him. Now, I think it's more than clear in the novels that LV certainly felt something much more for Bellatrix than he did for anyone else. I am basing that strictly on his behavior and actions, and not the words spoken from the morally grey manipulative "protagonist".. Was what he felt for Bella love? Perhaps, perhaps not. I don't think he would ever describe it in that way, but he risked so much for her at his own expense and certainly treated her differently than other Death Eaters. There's something to that. She is clearly the closest he's ever come to loving anything (pls, I beg you, do not bring Nagini into this) and he certainly is very protective of Bella. But enough on Voldemort's complexity when it comes to love.

What about Delphini? To start, I think LV allowing Bellatrix to carry her to term and bring his child (a real piece of his "family", an extension of himself) into this world alone, speaks volumes. In fact, the idea of that essentially destroyed so many people's one dimensional characterization of Voldemort, that a majority of the fandom had to completely deny Delphini's very existence just to fit their narratives. Most fail to see how Voldemort could possibly benefit from Delphini, and so they will utilize the following excuses for her existence:

1.) Does he desire an Heiress? I think there is a certain validity to this argument. Given that LV will ideally live forever, perhaps he would want someone else to carry on the bloodline into future generations. That could be at least a minor component. It's interesting though, since most people attribute LV's main ambition as strictly immortality and ultimate power, and really what's the use of an heir in that sense? We're talking about someone who could perhaps one day rival his power. Plus, does he actually care to further the Slytherin line? He hardly even addresses his own heritage, doesn't refer to himself as a Gaunt, went as far to change his own name.. Perhaps it's easier for him to pass that burden onto an heir?

2.) Delphi was a gift for Bellatrix. I suppose there is an argument to be had here. However, on some level that would insinuate he is putting Bella's wishes over his own which would be.. telling. A child of his own blood is a considerable reward for time spent in Azkaban. Even if he did say the Lestranges would be rewarded in spades, I don't know if a child is exactly what he had in mind, again, I think initially he would be exceptionally averse to a baby being born of his own blood.

3.) He was ambivalent about the whole thing. Unlikely. I think it's clear that he certainly wasn't unaware - Bella would never hide that from him, and would hardly be able to in the first place. Again, given his complicated relationship with his own "family" and his insecurity relating to his heritage, I can't see him easily dismissing a child or just writing the baby off as Bellatrix's and not his own.

4.) Delphini was part of a prophecy. Now, I've seen many people excuse Delphi as some sort of prophecy, or a part of a contingency plan (hence the title Augurey). I think this has potential. However, I am not sure where they would have come across such a prophecy considering how things went down in the Department of Mysteries. Let's not forget the last one was hand delivered via word of mouth (thanks, Severus). Plus, given how things went down with HP I can't see LV putting much weight into prophecy without being one hundred percent certain of all of its components.

There's a million and one ways that people go about trying to explain Delphini's existence because, at surface level, it doesn't make sense. The fandom that does acknowledge her is constantly trying to rationalize her use to him - because she would have to be of use in order to exist.. Right? At surface level, I agree with this. I agree that at first thought he would be very averse to a child of his own blood. Perhaps, he would also be in some ways intrigued. I agree that he may feel far to threatened to allow for an heir to come into this world - into his world. Yet, Delphini exists. So, to answer your question, Anon, do I think loving a daughter fits into his characterization? Not exactly. However, Delphini's very existence is a bit of a conundrum. I do feel it is at the very least telling of something deeper going on beneath the surface. Potentially, a reflection of the something he seems to feel for her mother. Ultimately, there's no definitive answer here, there is too much unsaid, too much unknown to say for certain.

Bellatrix is a much different story. Do I think that loving Delphini would fit into her characterization? Absolutely. First thing to remember is that Bellatrix clearly cares about her family. Yes, I know she went after Nymphadora, but I don't think that Tonks is someone Bellatrix considers family. Let's not forgot what she's does do for who she calls family, i.e: Going against the Dark Lord by following Narcissa to Spinner's end in an attempt to protect her, teaching Draco occlumency to prepare him for his mission.. And those are just the things that we get to see, the small glimpses into her life that shine through in the books via Harry's POV. So would she love her own child? I think that much is clear. However, there's key factor regarding Delphini that's sets her even further apart - Delphi's not only Bella's baby, but she is Bella's baby with the Dark Lord. And now, we've taken the protectiveness Bellatrix seems to feel towards her family, plus the utter devotion she has for LV, and wrapped that up into one tiny person. That has to be almost overwhelming for Bellatrix. Looking at it like that, one could argue that Delphini is almost like a trophy child for Bella. Delphi is tangible evidence of Bellatrix's relationship with the Dark Lord, of his higher affection for her, of Bella's privileged standing with him. Not only would Delphini be a gateway to the life and perception Bella always wanted with LV, but she would also be an extension of the Dark Lord himself. An extension literally mixed with Bellatrix - and I don't see a world where that wouldn't immediately encapsulate Bella's heart.

Plus, the above is only considering Voldemort and Bellatrix's initial feelings and perspective towards Delphini. In reality, that's very baseline when you consider the Delphini that I am writing right now is a borderline adult, and is also a daughter who loves both of her parents fiercely. It's difficult to say how each of them would properly react to Delphini loving in return - but I am happy to make an extrapolation. For Voldemort, he obviously has no basis of familial love. I have no doubt that the near unconditional love Delphi is so willing and able to give back to him would feel very strange. Again, it is something that I think he would also find it exceptionally intriguing, and if anything, I think Delphi's blatant love (and therefore unquestionable loyalty/respect) would certainly warm Voldemort to her over time. With Bellatrix, I think this would go even further. There's now that extension of the Dark Lord that openly loves Bella back irrefutably. Makes me wonder if at some point that would put Delphini above even the Dark Lord in Bellatrix's book. It's difficult to say.

I am the biggest pynch shipper. Like, uh, can't really get more dedicated to these two! I love imagining them getting married, I love imagining them someday having kids together (biological? adopted? Love both ideas, tbh)! Generally speaking, I usually do not care for that sort of stuff in ships? But with them, God, I love it because I can truly imagine it happening one day. KEYWORD: ONE DAY!

Engagement and marriage are not the only, or even the best way to show commitment to one another. LGBTQ people have been in loving, committed, lifelong relationships for so long without marriage. (Now, again, there are benefits to being married and everyone should be able to marry, but two 19 year olds aren't really gonna be able to use any of these benefits until later in their lives, anyway!) In the original timeline for TRC, Adam & Ronan would not yet even be able to get married for another 2ish years? Because marriage equality wasn't even passed in the US until June of 2015.

The thing is, Adam & Ronan are so fucking young, they are going through so much, neither of them are mentally sound in a way that would beget a healthy marriage. I don't think, by the end of the Dreamer Trilogy, we will see them at that point, either. And y'know what? That is A-OK! I also don't believe Maggie will not give us a happy ending for them, and I don't understand why there are people who seem to think a proposal is the only way to a happy end we should be getting.

Maggie should be allowed to tell the story she wants without being pre-emptively accused of giving a gay couple an unhappy ending. We don't even know what is going to happen in the third book and I just don't get why her vaguing about a proposal being OOC somehow means she's going to do something horrible to them? They're her characters, it's her story, at the end of the day her word on them is Law and that's that! She shouldn't be getting barraged with requests from fans for a book that is already all written and (most likely) in the editing stage right now. I don't think she did anything wrong by putting her foot down and saying, "no, these are my characters, I know them better than anyone."

Anyway, I went off on a bit of a rant. We should just read and write all the fanfic about the stuff we like, instead of pestering an author for canon content that would go against her own characters.

TLDR; Marriage isn't the only or even the best way to show commitment, Adam & Ronan are going to be fine either way and maybe they shouldn't be getting married just yet, write fanfic instead of bugging the author, please, I promise it's so much more fun than trying (and failing) to get canon content!

ok so nearly everyone in the fandom is doing this and as sad as it is that we need to remind these simple things to people, I feel the need to talk about this too.

I won't make this too painfully long because I know y'all most likely already know this and I just wanna put out a basic list of shit you should always follow in the fandom. But for those who don't, a lot of fan content creators, be it artists or writers or just general fans trying to enjoy their time, have been leaving/quitting the fandom.

Why are they leaving, you ask? Toxicity. Toxicity nearly everywhere. People can't hold respectful debates or discourses on interesting topics regarding characters/the books/ships anymore without someone toxicly stating that only their opinion is correct, and going off on anyone who has different opinions carried with a lot of aggressive, rude and shallow behaviour. Fanartists have gotten death threats and are scared of drawing art for the Riordanverse without getting anxious af.

Now the thing is, having done those (eXcepT for the death threats) doesn't automatically make u an entirely shitty person. Maybe you made a mistake and came off as rude without rlly meaning to. That's okay. Here's how to identify if u ever did so, and to change that behaviour. Again, it's okay to make mistakes, but we rn as a fandom srsly need to try to turn things around.

Some basic shit you should remember being a part of the fandom:

• NO NSFW STUFF WITH MINORS!!! That means fanarts, fanfics etc. But here's the shocking thing- when someone does this, you can actually hold them accountable WITHOUT SENDING DEATH THREATS AND CROSSING THE BOUNDARIES! Cuz doing that only makes YOU stoop just as low. Pl e a s e remember that always and be respectful whatever you do.

• That being said, ppl are allowed to write nsfw stuff IF said characters are aged up, aka 18+. Ofc, it's a must that they put a content warning beforehand because many people may not want to read that. BUT, if you don't want to read it and if they've aged up the characters so nothing's morally wrong or gross, then please do NOT hate the author in the comments, do NOT report their post/account. Seriously dude, they gave warnings, if you don't want to read it just scroll past it's not that hard. Unless it's with minors, you shouldn't be reporting innocent ppl's accounts like that.

• one thing that I've seen a lack of in the fandom are trigger warnings. I've seen several fics whose covers are literally of blood. And entire chapters were written with intricate graphic descriptions yet with no trigger warnings or a tw wayyy down in the caption. you never know what may be triggering to someone if a lot of ppl see ur content but the least u can do is put trigger warnings on the most common stuff. I get that it may look aesthetically matching if it's a murder mystery sorta fic but isn't the well being of people more important?

• look I'm not saying you're not allowed to have opinions, but the problem is when you start treating your opinions like facts. I can't count the times I've seen someone state their opinion like it's facts and then trash on other's for having a different opinion. PEOPLE ARE ALLOWED TO HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS. Stop attacking people for liking Jason more than Percy or vice versa, there's no rule that you absolutely have to like one or the other, ppl can like who they want. When you're stating UR opinion, it would be nice if you used stuff like "I personally think that..." or "... that's just my opinion" because again, Ur opinion is just that, not a fact.

• if you can't have discourses or discussions about certain topics respectfully and nicely then don't have them. if someone's done nothing wrong but state their opinions and you don't like it, don't go attacking them. if you don't have anything good to say, shut up and just scroll past. it's not that hard. we don't need any more negativity in the fandom. If you feel like you're about to snap, mute or block the account you don't like and move on with life. But for the love of GOD don't go out of your way to be agresive or hateful to ppl. They have feelings too and run fan accounts for fun, not to get upset and hurt.

• when a fan account owner has made a post saying what they think of a certain topic, and you comment saying you think they're wrong and they reply that you didn't get the point of their post, then chances are you most probably actually did not understand what they were saying. when this happens, pls don't go on forcing ur opinion onto them as if you got what they meant when you didn't. Maybe next time when someone says you didn't get what they were saying, ask them nicely to explain it to you instead of going off like that?

• firstly, shame on you if you've ever run a hate account. just why? how much more negativity do you want to add? if you come across a hate account please please report it and block it and tell your friends to do the same. if you're targeted in a hate post, I'm so sorry, please know that they're shallow ppl just trying to make you feel shitty, you're dont have a trashy fan account; what they say is false and done purely to spite. report and block them.

• I know Rick has written a lot of racist bullcrap and hasn't batted an eye when we complained about them, but that still doesn't give you the right to send him death threats. Again, no death threats to anyone, yikes.

• don't use fanart that's racist. don't repost them either. Piper has feathers in it? don't repost it. also if you can't exactly and properly credit artists, don't repost their art saying "credits to the artist". I've done that before too but now I understand that's not right.

• also, while we're at it, can we all please universally agree on non-racist fanon stuff and get rid of racist canon stuff? like Piper and feathers, and piper & hazel with colourful and golden eyes, Piper's stupid not like other girls behaviour, and all the other bullshit Rick has put into the books. We as a fandom don't accept it and pretend they do not exist, no racism in this place 🥰‼️

• ppl are allowed to have their own headcannons, it doesn't matter what's cannon. Don't go "but in the books it's.." because in the books there's a lot of shit, and besides, if someone wants to headcannon Percy as brown? black? totally alright! they're allowed to do so! don't go bUt pErCy iSnT pOc iN tHe bOoKs. same goes with sexualities and etc headcannons. as long as they're not erasing the already representation of a minority, it's okay to have headcannons of your own. Like Hazel is canonically black and we should respect that and bring out the best of that, yk what I mean?

That's all I have to say for now. I'm usually a very light-hearted cursed meme account on here but things are getting out of hand. I was wanting to make my 8 yr old brother get into the Riordanverse fandom but seeing the situation of the fandom rn scares me. We need to think about the kids in the future who'll be in this fandom, whose lives will be changed and shaped by these books. Surely, the older people in the fandom before us would be utterly disappointed at what it's become and it's our job to constantly look out for the fandom.

If you're leaving/have left the fandom, I'm so sorry that it got to that point, but ur wellbeing comes first, do what you feel is necessary to feel better, all of us send lots of positive vibes towards your way! and to the peeps who've still decided to stay in the fandom and use their account to talk about this issue, I cannot express how thankful I am of you for doing such an important thing right now. and related to PH, Masahiro Ito (monster designer for SH 1 - 3 and is the creator of PH) talks a lot on his twitter about what he intended for these monsters in meaning and really getting into the nitty gritty and showing clearer models. this is years post-SH games (1999, 2001, 2003) that we’re now hearing this lore, but.. idk i like hearing it and i def nod along

however there is a good point in saying that he’s not the end-all word of god in the matter since, again - interpretive. i think in some matters he is the word of god and i stick to it and my guns (such as PH). doesn’t mean, also, that i go bonkers over it in discussion or whatnot. i’ve evolved as a person and that also means i’ve chilled out a lot over shit that would’ve gotten me right heated. maturity, man. what a drug.
