I receive an anon ask telling me that I'm being dragged into the r slur discourse drama which... I have no idea why I'm being dragged into it or WHO is dragging me into the discourse. My only guess is because I use to use the slur in the past (I don't anymore after a few people came to me and said why it wasn't okay, even though I am in fact autistic it is not okay use to it, which I stopped) or because of the fact I'm autistic and I'm guessing the person believed that "Hey, this person is autistic and critic so they should be talking about this too!". If it is in fact the first thing, then I will make a response after I figure out what the hell is going on

some people on here are way too comfortable with using the r slur and i’m getting really fucking sick of it. it’s an extremely harmful and cruel word and it’s considered a slur for a reason, so why do people think it’s ok to use? it’s not even a slur that intellectually disabled people (y’know, the people that slur was actually used against) are reclaiming, and they’re some of the most outspoken groups of people literally BEGGING people to stop saying it. that word has been used to abuse, neglect, and even straight up kill disabled people, it’s not cute, it’s not funny, it’s rude and it’s harmful and it’s ableist and quite frankly it’s disgusting. do better.

a lot of people "reclaiming" the r slur ... really cannot reclaim it, i think . like, yeah you're neurodivergent, whatever . but you are not intellectually disabled . which is the group the r slur refers to . u aren't "reclaiming" it ur collecting it like pokemon & using it as a slur against other people. or just for attention! ur like "ugh what a [r slur]" and when people get mad ur like "well i can reclaim" even if u COULD reclaim that's not what ur doing, you're upsetting people on purpose to get a reaction.

Not only do you not understand what proshipping is, you are using ableist slurs. Com/darkshippers ate the ones who like rape fantasies, not proshippers. Proship is just a movement, like I said, anti harassment and anti censorship. Proshippers can be con/darkshippers but not always, and not all com/darkshippers are proshippers. The r-slur has been used to dehumanize intellectually disabled people and severely developmentally disabled people for decades. For you to ignore that, is just you wallowing in your own ignorance. If you don’t give a fuck then fine, but don’t get upset when I get upset. I’m an intellectually disabled adult. I’m allowed to have my opinion. So sit down and shut the fuck up.

hi bread, I received an ask from someone who thinks that because they’ve been called the r slur for being autistic, that they can say it even though they’re not ID.

i am LSN autistic and don’t have ID so I answered the ask to the best of my ability but I don’t want to speak over anyone or accidentally spread untrue info. I know you don’t have ID, but I respect your posts and advocating for people with ID, so would you be okay with me sharing the post with you, and if you want you can provide your insight. you don’t have to at all, i just wanted to ask because I don’t want to misrepresent the issue.

some off top of head thoughts from listening to people w ID & in general disability/ID history:

r slur come from old medical term for intellectual disability. “mental [version of r slur that end in -tion].” n version that end in -d shortened from it.

come from medical term for ID. not autism. not ADHD. not general any neurodivergence.

r slur & mental r word been used historically AND NOW to deny rights of people w ID. it been used for eugenics. think that word been watered down nowadays but by eugenics am meaning literal eugenic policies n direct actions. it been used for dehumanize people w ID, for deny rights n dignity, for deny education, for deny services n help, for forced sterilization, for involuntary institutionalized in abusive institutions with horrific abuse & neglect to point of barely alive or straight up death, for basically murder even.

in fact, word still in laws. many them old laws but still in affect n can be (& is) used any time to deny rights of people with ID.

while it really unfortunate n bad that be bullied n be called that word. as someone who been bullied with that slur, am sorry but that simply not on same level as this systemic level of abuse behind this word.

when be called r slur when not have ID, is comparing you to people with ID. is say you near/just as bad as them.

can’t reclaim something that never about you in first place.

i haven't seen the new deadpool and wolverine movie yet, i've heard a lot of good things about it and i was actually kinda excited? most of the mcu has sucked so bad for a while now and deadpool is cool i love both characters. i love the art that was made by the fandom and the creativity i've seen from the fandom from the new movie

and then i learned that they for some reason put an r slur joke in the movie for no good reason at all. like wow. we just can't have nice things.

i was genuinely looking forward to this movie and that just. basically ruined the entire thing for me. it leaves a gross taste in my mouth now. really disappointing honestly

like i genuinely think the fandom is lovely, the ships are goofy, the art is wonderful, the movie seemed to have wonderful potential but like. come on. and i've seen like a total of one person talk about it
