Here is a resource list of the Default Replacements I use to improve the look of my game, as well as "Maxis Lost & Found items" to add a little more variety.

I play a mostly CC-free game but I've also included a list of the tiny amount of "Maxis match" CC that I use, so if you download my lots and you have these things installed the houses should look like they do in the previews.

Can you believe the Sims 2 is over 20 years old!? It will look like it's hardly aged a day after you put these defaults in. 🤭 I also recommend Reshade for a truly up-to-date experience.

On Saturday night East Coast time, the White House, without first obtaining authorization or even consulting with any Democrats in Congress, committed an act of war against Iran by dropping bunker buster bombs and firing Tomahawk cruise missiles at three of its nuclear facilities. It was a serious escalation that ended all ongoing diplomatic efforts, and it marked the entry of the U.S. into Israel’s war with Iran. Yesterday morning, citing historian Timothy Snyder, I noted in a special edition of this newsletter five things to keep in mind as events unfolded. Many of those, unfortunately, are already coming to pass. Indeed, by Sunday afternoon, it was already apparent that the entire White House narrative around the war was in shambles. Let’s discuss three reasons why.

“Totally Obliterated” or nah?

On Sunday I cited Snyder for an important first principle of war: “Many things reported with confidence in the first hours and days will turn out not to be true.” One of those things Trump proudly proclaimed in his speech to the nation Saturday night. He boasted, “Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated.” But by Sunday morning, as I noted earlier, the Pentagon had walked that back, saying that while it believed the sites were “severely damaged,” it was “way too early” to assess the actual damage. But what if the amount of damage to the Fordo bunker and other sites wasn’t what really mattered? To build a nuclear weapon, a nation needs two things: 1) enough enriched uranium to make a weapon, and 2) a way to reliably deliver that payload and cause it to undergo a catastrophic nuclear reaction. No regime change… or MIGA?

In yesterday’s piece, I cited Synder for the following proposition: “The rationale given for a war will change over time, such that actual success or failure in achieving a named objective is less relevant than one might think.” It turns out that “over time” means “overnight” with this White House. On Sunday, White House officials fanned out across the talk shows to insist that the strike on Iran was limited and the U.S. was not seeking “regime change” in Iran.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth went before cameras to insist, “This mission was not and has not been about regime change.” JD Vance went on Meet the Press to claim that the administration’s view “has been very clear that we don’t want a regime change.” And he wins the prize for best Orwellian-speak after claiming that we aren’t at war with Iran, but with Iran’s nuclear program. Just a few hours later, Trump threw that out the window. He posted on Sunday afternoon that “if the current Iranian Regime is unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn’t there be a Regime change??? MIGA!!!” [...]

Going with instinct over intelligence

Third, and as many have noted, our own intelligence agencies had found that Iran was not close to making an actual nuclear weapon. Tulsi Gabbard testified to that in March. Democratic leaders, such as Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT), who is the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee and is privy to intelligence briefings, confirmed this assessment in an interview with Jim Acosta. Yet the White House ignored our own intelligence and now insists based on “instinct” that Iran was near to making a nuke.  [...]

Fake WMDs redux

Watching these official lies bubble up in real time, I am reminded of the other time, over 20 years ago, that another Republican administration lied to the American public about Weapons of Mass Destruction. It used those lies to lead us into a disastrous and costly war in the Middle East under false pretenses. We are all relieved to see that Iran did not immediately retaliate against Saturday night’s attack, at least for the moment. But the long term situation could actually grow more dangerous than ever, and a protracted war is still a distinct possibility, even if things go quiet for a time. Why is that? Iran now knows not to trust in diplomacy. Any moderates in Tehran arguing for talks and negotiation have been forever discredited. Iran now understandably believes it can only hope to defend itself against a power like the U.S. by brandishing nuclear weapons as the ultimate deterrent.

The Trump Regime’s narrative on Iran is failing, and cannot be trusted to tell the truth.

Fossil Fighters: Revival, an overview

So, what would a redux of this game look like, were I to be in charge of one?

So glad you asked!

The Revival would hit most of the same story beats and the skeleton of the story will largely be the same, the game is just going to essentially be HEAVILY expanded upon.

All the dig sites will be given their own gimmick that has its own major side quest, normally accompanied by a minigame.

Customization will be expanded upon, the major upgrade being a female player option!

Along with the female player option (bc Nintendo's default is straight, not saying mine has to be but I digress), certain NPCs will be expanded upon (cough HOLT) and some might even step into that romantic route that Duna and Rosie have (cough HOLT). I *would* put Raptin in as a love interest, but I have different plans for that guy. For now, just know that more characters will be added to the roster for us to chew on ;)

The tone of the game won't shift all that much, this is still the goofy shenanigan fossil game, though don't be surprised if I take the creative freedom Fossil Fighters gives me and I run with it

The main story beats will stay largely the same, though the way they unfold may differ because of what's changed.

Also, I'm totally open for people sharing headcanons, ideas, ocs, wtv strikes your fancy that this thought bubble inspires you to do, go for it!

Second summer?

Phineas and Ferb is coming back TONIGHT AT 7PM CDT for a brand new summer. Canonically, it is the second summer of shenanigans we will see. But is it really?

So far, Phineas and Ferb has 187 single part episodes, 25 double part episodes, 10 longer specials, and 2 movies. That comes out to 222 episodes, and if we add in the movies, that's 224 days of summer, right? Which means we have already seen all of the second summer and part of the third?

Not quite.

(Note that I am not taking into account that in real life, it would take much longer to do most of the projects they do.) Also, there is a TL;DR at the bottom.

Here is a list of episodes that do not qualify as one day of summer, and the reasons why:

Traffic Cam Caper: takes place entirely at night

Phineas and Ferb Get Busted: takes place within a dream within a dream, entirely at night

Bubble Boys / Isabella and the Temple of Sap: this is the same day from two different perspectives, so we can eliminate one of them

Phineas and Ferb Christmas Vacation (original and extended editions): takes place entirely in winter

Phineas and Ferb Hawaiian Vacation: this is listed on the wiki as a two-parter, but it has two separate stories that take place over two days

Phineas and Ferb: Summer Belongs to You!: despite Phineas's statement that they are creating "the biggest, longest, funnest summer day of all time," this day actually lasts about 40 hours, which effectively comes out to two days

Candace Gets Busted: takes place entirely at night

That's the Spirit: takes place entirely in fall

Tri-Stone Area, Doof Dynasty, Excaliferb!, and Phineas and Ferb and the Temple of Juatchadoon (collectively premiered as Time Shift Weekend): take place entirely in other time periods

When Worlds Collide: takes place entirely at night

What'd I Miss?: the entire episode is the characters telling Ferb and Perry what happened the previous day, so naturally there had to be two days here

Blackout!: takes place entirely at night

For Your Ice Only / Happy New Year!: take place entirely in winter

Bee Day / Bee Story: this is the same day from two different perspectives, so again, we can eliminate one

Phineas and Ferb Musical Cliptastic Countdown Hosted by Kelly Osbourne: yes, we all want to forget that this even exists, plus there is no indication that it even takes place during the summer

Drusselsteinoween: takes place entirely in fall

Terrifying Tri-State Trilogy of Terror: all three stories and the Macabre-Mobile take place entirely at night

Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars: takes place entirely in an alternate universe

Doof 101: takes place on the first day of school

Act Your Age: takes place entirely 10 years in the future

The O.W.C.A. Files: takes place after Doofenshmirtz decided to become good in the series finale

Now, here is a list of episodes that DO qualify as one day of summer, despite not appearing as such:

The Monster of Phineas-n-Ferbenstein: Most of the episode is a story told by Reginald Fletcher and Dr. D, but we do see them starting and finishing the story while a thunderstorm goes on outside

Unfair Science Fair / Unfair Science Fair Redux (Another Story): These episodes are listed separately, and despite the fact that they have some of the same scenes, they cover two different days

Phineas and Ferb Musical Cliptastic Countdown: yes, the entire episode is an awards show for the show's music, but Doofenshmirtz and Monogram took time out of their summer to do it and there is a cut to Phineas and Ferb

Wizard of Odd: despite taking place mostly in a dream, the episode starts and ends with Candace in her room in the daytime

Tri-State Treasure: Boot of Secrets: despite taking place mostly in a movie made by Phineas and Ferb, Doof's plan to turn himself into a kid proves that the episode did in fact take place

Where's Perry?: even though this is technically two separate 2-part episodes, I counted it as one of the ten longer specials, so this does not throw off my count

Ferb TV: even though most of the episode is just clips of TV shows, the boys still would have had to make those shows in the first place, so I'm counting it

Love at First Byte: despite being centered around the block party, the episode does take place over the course of a day

Steampunx: yes, most of the episode takes place at the Danville 1903 World's Fair, but we also see the Gang doing metal detecting with Lawrence, and Buford finds the coin

The Klimpaloon Ultimatum: even though the awards ceremony lasts 24 hours, we can assume that another episode took place on the day they left for the ceremony, counting this as a single day

Lost in Danville: even though most of the episode takes place in an alternate universe, we see the real PnF peering through the portal at the end

Now we must subtract a day for the following episodes:

What'd I Miss?

So that means we take out 22 days and add 3 back in. Since we started at 224, this gives us a grand total of 205 days of summer.

Side note: here is how the 104 days in the theme song was calculated:

At the time, most TV seasons had 26 episodes, as opposed to the standard 20 today.

At the time, Disney typically gave each of their shows 2 seasons. 2 seasons x 26 episodes = 52 total episodes.

An "episode" was defined as a half-hour block including two 11-minute segments and commercials. So if each segment was its own story lasting one day, that would come out to 52 episodes x 2 = 104 total days of summer.

But that's not all! There are some days that are repeated:

The first day of summer

In the Milo Murphy's Law episode Murphy's Lard, Melissa explains that it was the first day of summer when she had just finished a really cool science project: a model of the solar system. (Zack questions why she was making a science project on the first day of summer, but my thought is that she was going to enter it into the science fair in Unfair Science Fair.) But then, just as she had finished making it, the rollercoaster dropped out of the sky and crushed it! This is one of many hints that Rollercoaster took place on the first day of that summer. Another is when Carl flat out says in Rollercoaster: The Musical! that Doof had already done the same evil scheme "on the first day of summer."

In Phineas and Ferb's Quantum Boogaloo, Future Candace says she's going back to "the first day of that summer: the day they built... the rollercoaster!" So she's going back to the episode Rollercoaster, right? Wrong. Good Future Candace and Bad Future Candace actually appear in Rollercoaster: The Musical while Present Candace is walking through the grocery store parking lot with Linda. So we can reasonably infer that Rollercoaster: The Musical also took place on the first day of summer.

Father's Day (possibly)

Season 4 has an episode literally titled Father's Day. However:

Summer Belongs to You technically takes place over a three-day stretch (starting one evening and continuing to two evenings later), the middle day of which is the summer solstice. And we can reasonably infer from the fact that Linda and Lawrence are taking a trip for that entire time, that they are going somewhere for the weekend. (Perhaps for Lawrence to be picked up by Reginald for their usual Father's Day flight, as revealed in Father's Day?) It's also possible that Doof used Father's Day as an excuse to get Vanessa on his "daddy-daughter trip" to Tokyo. Given this idea, we can reasonably infer that this episode starts on Friday night and ends on Sunday night, meaning Saturday has to be the solstice. Now, it is possible, as in 2025, that Father's Day (which is always the third Sunday in June) takes place on Sunday June 15th, while the summer solstice takes place on Saturday the 21st. But it's also possible that the solstice takes place on, say, Saturday June 20th, putting Father's Day on Sunday the 21st. Or it could be the 19th and 20th.

Canada Day (July 1st, aka my birthday)

Sidetracked is about Agent P working with Canadian agent Lyla Lolliberry to protect Albert the Moose, who is on his way to a Canada Day ceremony.

In The Bully Code, Monogram apologizes for disturbing Agent P on Canada Day.

Last Day of Summer

The episode Last Day of Summer takes place on, take a wild guess.

However, there was also a live show during the original run, that took place on the last day of summer. I never went to see it, but I saw commercials for it that specifically mentioned this fact.

And there's at least one summer holiday that never happened in the original run: Independence Day! I would LOVE to see what Phineas and Ferb cook up for July 4th. I would also love to see how being from different countries affects certain characters' views of the holiday, like Ferb and Lawrence (who might have especially strong feelings, being from Britain), Roger and Heinz (keeping in mind that Drusselstein has been under many foreign occupations, likely including Britain at one point), and Vivian (given her Mexican background, and presumably her husband's Jewish background). Seems like a missed opportunity that they will hopefully take advantage of in the reboot.

But I'm getting off topic. The point is that, by my calculations, we have already seen 205 days of summer. Which fits into a span of 2 summers with 3 days to spare. That means, mathematically, we are headed into the THIRD summer.

As the month rolls over, the final night of the Ethereal Moon passes. The morning that follows is one of color and chaos. The hallways have been strung up with streamers, in patterns of rainbow and pink, blue, and white. There is a sense of community in the air, a current cutting through the student body and administrative staff alike. While the decorations may be gaudy, and perhaps the patterns unfamiliar, this is a month of celebration.

Caeda mingles among the crowd, bright extroversion encouraging people to join in on the celebration. Forsyth and Lloyd's dedication behind the scenes helps students assemble stands and banners decorate windows. Shez, for their part, plasters paint upon their face, content to engage on their own terms. Ewan's small form flits amidst the crowd, distributing sparklers in every color of the rainbow. What will you do?

Prompts

[ Confetti ] - everything in Garreg Mach seems to be covered in a layer of sparkles and confetti. Grab a handful if you like! And if you don’t mind glittering for the next week.

[ Chalk ] - across the cobblestone, people of all walks of life are drawing in brightly colored chalk. Some are simply signing their names, while others are writing sweet messages, and still more are simply drawing little pictures. What will you add to the canvas?

[ Face paint ] - palettes of paint in every color of the rainbow sit squarely upon a little stand, inviting those who pass by to “wear their colors”. Hanging at the side of the stand are some suggested color combinations and their meaning. Students are encouraged to paint each others’ faces in a display of trust. 

[ Cut & Style ] - a group of Garreg Mach’s students have decided to try their hands at hairstyling, knowing that a proper haircut can do wonders for one’s view of themselves and their expression. However, whether or not they’re good at giving haircuts is another question entirely. 

[ Tie-dye! ] - small, easily-ruptured balls filled with dye have been left in buckets scattered across the Monastery. The intent? Students have been distributed white shirts upon request, and with the donning of said shirt, invite others to shower them in color. There’s nothing stopping you from pranking an unsuspecting fellow without a white shirt on, though..

[ Lovetape - redux! ] - inspired by the celebratory event from BOEL, a gaggle of Golden Deer have decided to take their own spin on the stick-on-compliment game. Brightly colored paper with adhesive backs beckon passerby, as well as a stack of pens. The game is simple - scrawl down a compliment, and stick it onto someone else. Just remember - if you’re fast enough, you might not even get caught! 

[ Mocktail Melody ] - another station, this one in the dining hall, boasts various drinks of different uncannily vibrant colors. Some are bubbly, some are sicky-sweet, and still others are oddly bitter. None are alcoholic. What sort of mixture will you make?

[ Kissing Booth ] - less well-built than the other stands is one that proclaims itself as a kissing booth. Curiously, no one sits behind the counter - will you sit there and await company, or approach someone sitting there?

Hello there, TOA! This is a personal attempt at organizing a little approximation for a pride month event. The prompts can be spun however people would like. I know that there are some implications that come with the idea of canonizing pride in the world of Fire Emblem, as well as the fact that pride flags as we know them are unlikely to exist, but ultimately my goal of organizing something like this is to reach my fellow LGBT muns, especially those who cannot celebrate their identities in real life. Pride is both a celebration and a memory, an honoring of survival and a remembrance of those who came before us, and I hope everyone can get a little bit of fun from this.

RUBY!! RUBY RUBY (I RUN AROUND IN CIRCLES) She's another BFDI character I associate heavily with ADHD. She's got so much spark to her I love her!

Redux!Ruby's Character Proposal:

Ruby is the youngest in a HUGE group of sisters. She's got so many. They're all greatly successful in their lines of work. Writers, doctors, inventors, scientists... The list could go on.

They don't all hate her for betraying and getting into BFDIA!! Her sisters are actually very supportive but because she has so many, Ruby isn't close to a lot of them.

Bubbly, curious, brilliant, and sensitive. She loves fun, harmless pranks, and making new friends. Not afraid to convey her emotions.

An aspiring actress. It came to me at 3 in the morning. She applied to BFDIA was to get her name out there.

ADHD friend!!

#2 Pencil apologist until BFB.

She meets Pencil and Match during BFDIA 1, where she goes right up to them and asks about an alliance. Pencil seems down to strengthen her team.

Match feels like an echo of Pencil. The two act so similar and so close it's no wonder that Match is Pencil's right hand.

Authority is authority. Ruby is LOYAL.

Bubble is a common spectator and eventually a temporary host for BFDIA. She seems hesitant about Ruby and that kinda hurts! Hopefully she'll come around.

Book!! She's agreeable and friendly-- a good team worker.

Ice Cube. Hmm. Pencil says she can be as stubborn as a bag of rocks. Honestly, though, Ruby doesn't mind.

There's times where Pencil snaps at Ruby for being "too much of x."(Her words!) Sometimes she says hurtful things and Ruby can't stop herself from crying.

Apparently that's the WRONG course of action because Pencil doesn't like that either. She'll berate Ruby for that too, call her a baby-- maybe it's better to walk on eggshells and watch Pencil's face.

Sometimes she's too distracted or too excited or too intense or too sensitive. Ruby sucks up and apologizes-- now she's being cringe. What???

Ruby is sure Pencil has a good reason to be that way. Surely. Don't ask her why, though. Ruby doesn't know.

Match is often the same but toned down, she doesn't scoff when Ruby apologizes and checks on Ruby after Pencil lights a fuse. That's nice.

IDFB... my favorite untouched territory

And where FreeSmart begins to fall apart.

Ruby and Bubble start to establish a stronger friendship.

Mid-late IDFB, Ice Cube leaves and Book follows. Ruby is out doing something during that time and comes back right as Pencil is telling Book to go.

Book looked so fucking hurt and Pencil looked pissed.

Ruby is sad to see Book go. Pencil is all "good riddance" about it and when Ruby asks, Pencil explains. Ruby now has Pencil's perspective.

Pencil also asks her to promise she won't be like Book. Ruby agrees.

Ruby does eventually come into contact with Book again. She hears Book's perspective and is quick to defend Pencil and after some back and forth Book tells her to just stop.

Ruby stammers and Book tells her to go. Ruby complies, feeling herself start to cry.

Push it down, don't make things worse. Ruby dries her tears before she returns to what's left of the alliance.

Ruby does get to see more of Pencil's meaner side throughout the end of IDFB-- the way she is with Book, the way she clings to control.

ALSO WITH FLOWER!! I want part of her character arc of being a better person to involve Ruby. Ruby is still nice to Flower even when Flower is being a jerk. Really, Ruby is still nice to everyone even when they're being a jerk.

BFB.

Getting invited to a new season of BFDI was not on Ruby's bingo.

She invites Flower to Iance by calling her pretty. Awh.

So, new teammates.

Fanny is negative about a lot of stuff. Ruby wonders why she hates and hates. Fanny is also mature-- she's able to recognize her own faults and for that, she has Ruby's respect.

Lightning has some problems to work out and Pencil treats him like a weapon. He also electrocutes anyone Pencil and Match asks him to soooo it's better to stay on it's good side!!

Snowball is an actual jerk. He's got this weird mindset about strength and it's going to take him a good minute to get out of it.

FLOWER!!! Pencil doesn't like her but Ruby does. She's learning to be better.

Pencil is the first BFB elimination. This leaves Match in charge.

To compensate, Match gets worse. She pushes the team to their limits and demotes Bubble twice. Is?? That even possible??

She insults Bubble too.

It gets to the point where Bubble snaps and calls her out. A small but loud argument starts-- in which Ruby tries to break it up and gets gently pulled aside by Fanny, who tells her to let it happen.

The results?

Bubble refuses to talk to Match. Ruby tries to comfort both of them.

Match eventually breaks down and apologized both to Bubble and Ruby. Bubble says she appreciates it and needs time.

Ruby tries to tell Match it's okay-- Bubble says it's not.

Match is eliminated.

Bubble and Ruby have a talk once the shock is over. Something about Bubble asking Ruby if she really thinks what Match and Pencil have done is okay. Like, she's never questioned them? Ever???

Ruby admits that she has but pushed it aside.

She was in denial. A part of her still doesn't want to believe it but...

The rest of BFB pre-split, Ruby is coming to her own conclusions and accepting that the way Pencil and Match behaved weren't okay.

Ruby could've gone to TPOT-- I think she and Two would've gotten a long real well!! But she stuck with Bubble and Flower.

My main goal with post-split Ruby is letting her be herself!! Nobody's scolding her for how she acts anymore, she can breathe.

Ruby is eliminated in BFB 20! She will cheer Flower and Bubble on.

Following the finale, I'll probably have Ruby take her leave for a bit-- she's still in contact with Flower and Bubble but now she's taking small acting jobs and visiting between them to experience joy and whimsy. #happy ending

!FNAF SL REDUX! Writing scene test.

Katherine finds the first model CB plush she had gifted to Liz for her birthday that had disappeared along with Liz, hidden in William's nightstand.

  Katherine finally walked back to her and William's bedroom door, rubbing her face, groaning in exhaustion, but she didn’t feel tired. Nothing but fear and stress were eating at Katherine's entire being, day in and day out. How could she just disappear like that. She inhaled shakily, walking into her and William’s bedroom, she squinted and rubbed her eyes, a little startled by William's lamp still being on. Did he forget to turn it off when he left… William was still off at “work” whatever that was to him currently, at least Katherine thought so. Her drained eyes adjusted to the sudden light, closing the door behind her as she walked over to turn off the lamp. Katherine reached out to the lamp before halting short, a little cupboard on the nightstand was slightly ajar, something white and red was inside, it looked familiar…

  She opened the small cupboard and stared at the Circus Baby plush inside, she pulled it out and held It gently in her hands. It was just like the one I gave Liz, she pinched her brow, trying to remind herself that it was missing along with Liz. Even still she examined the plush doll, its slightly soft plush body flopping in her hands, she looked at the tag on the bottom of the doll, the usual branding and such written on it. Katherine wouldn’t have thought much of it, if it weren’t for the words on the back, Katherine's eyes widened, staring at the unmistakable writing, her writing. She had written Elizabeth's name in pen on the bottom of the tag on the plushie, just in case she lost it. Why is this here ?… This was with her when she… Her heart sank into her stomach, rage boiling in its place, her grip on the plush tightening, Why is this here?!.

  She was snapped out of her trance by the sound of the bedroom door opening, and Williams voice breaking the heavy, piercing silence. “Katherine? I didn’t expect to still see you up.” His voice was calm, only a little surprised by Katherine. “What are you doing?” Katherine slowly rose, not facing William, holding the familiar plush close to her. “William… Can I ask you something.” Her voice was calm, or at least as calm as it could be, her eyes still burning into the lifeless eyes of the plush in her hands. “Of course, you can ask me anything.’ “Nothing was left behind when Elizabeth disappeared, correct?” She heard a sigh from William, her grip only tightening further on the doll, basically squeezing the poor thing. “Yes Katherine, we’ve been through this…” she listened to his footsteps approach slowly continuing to speak as he did “You gotta stop letting this eat at you, the police are doing the best they can, I’ve looked through the security footage, they’ve looked through the security footage and both them and I saw nothing.” Katherine laughed dryly “Nothing, Nothing at all, then why is this in your night stand, William?”

  She turned slightly presenting the doll into William's view, her hardened gaze burning into him, as his face seemed to shift in a mix of emotions Katheirne couldn’t catch. “It’s just one of the first sets of Circus Baby plushies that were produced, I don’t understand what you mean by this-” “Cut the bull shit, her name is on the tag William!” She cut William off, showing the name written on the tag, in Katherine's hand writing. “Nothing was found! Then why is the plush that is supposedly also missing with you?!” The rage bubbled in Katherine, threatening to spill. She stared at him, demanding any kind of answer, but he just stared. After a while he finally spoke “Katie…” “Don’t ‘Katie’ me! Why is this with you! And not with her, Where is she, William!!” All the weeks of worrying about her, all the weeks of putting up missing posters, all the sleepless nights and he knew, he knew something. Katherine shook a little as she stared at him, tears threatening to fall from her eyes. William spoke again, “Are you accusing me of having done something to Liz?” Katherine's hands formed into fists. “Yes… Yes I am, unless you can explain why this missing item has been in our house, in our room the whole time!” she stared into his eyes now, her eyes burning with rage, but also pleading with William to just tell her why, why this was here.  

  He said nothing, his eyes swimming with this calmness, this casualness, that broke Katherine tears finally began to fall from her eyes, the rage bleeding forth from her like a broken dam. “WHERE IS SHE WILLIAM! WHERE IS SHE!!” Her voice pierced the silence of the room like a gun shot, it even seemed to take William off guard as he stepped back slightly, staring at her. “YOU KNOW SOMETHING THAT YOU’RE NOT TELLING ME, NOT TELLING ANYONE!! AND THIS!” She held the plush up, its connected parts flopping a little as she did. “THIS TELLS ME ENOUGH!!! So tell me William… WHERE IS SHE!!!!” Katherine finally stopped, staring at William. Tears pooled down her tired, broken eyes, shaking as she waited for an answer, a response, anything “TELL ME!!!”… but even still, he said nothing. Except his brows furrowed a little, not in anger, not in sadness, but rather pity. She clenched her teeth, sucking in air through them, choosing to not yell more. She lowered her head, walking around William and towards their bedroom door. That is what finally got William moving, and talking “Katherine, Where are you going?” He followed after Katherine, even as she swung the door closed, into his face. She ignored his pleas to talk to him, and slammed and locked her office door in his face.

  “Katherine, please open the door, talk to me!” Katherine ignored him, her back pressed against the door, slowly sliding down it, her body heaving as she choked out sobs, her knees now huddled against her chest, holding that plushie close. She remembers the way Elizabeth's eyes shone as Katherine presented the gift box to her, the excitement burning in them as she tore open the wrapping and the excited, joyous gasp as she pulled out the plush doll. She remembered the guilt she felt that she couldn’t be there for Elizabeth's tenth birthday, the ache in her heart, but the happiness she felt as she watched Elizabeth wave her bye, holding that plush close to her chest in one arm. Now it was all that was left of Elizabeth from that day, and that thought only made Katherine cry harder, coiling up into a ball around the stupid plush. After a bit, her cries began to calm down, slowly dying out. She stared at the barely illuminated room, the plush still clutched to her chest, she could feel the joy from Elizabeth still burning in it. It did little to comfort her, but it gave her a glimmer of hope that Elizabeth may still be alive. She continued to ignore Williams pleas, requests, and demands, listening as he finally gave up and walked away. She laid there in complete silence, staring at the room before her for a while, before her eyes became heavy, exhaustion finally overtaking her. 

  Before she slipped into unconsciousness, her mind made a promise, ‘I promise, Lizzy, I will find you, and I will bring you back…’ her grip on the plushy only tightened as she finally drifted off to sleep.

Abilities — Experience Bars 1.6 — Adds additional information to the experience bars, such as how much XP you have and how much you need. Also makes it easier to show such information for mod-added skills.

Actually Lucky Rabbit's Foot (Rebooted) — Makes the Rabbit's Foot actually give you some Luck! A passive luck bonus is applied to your character whenever you carry around a rabbit's foot.

Activate Sprinklers — lets you activate sprinklers by right-clicking them.

Archaeology Skill — Adds a new skill tree based around digging artifact spots and panning mechanics as well as a couple of new machines, new food, and a way of displaying artifacts.

Auto Animal Doors — automatically releases your animals from the buildings at a set time each day, and then locks the buildings back up at another set time.

Auto Heal and Energize — Automatically consume food to recover when your health or stamina is low!

Automatic Gates — for those of us too lazy to open/shut gates.

Better Crafting — an extensive overhaul of the crafting system. I mostly use it for the ability to bulk craft.

Better Chests — allows for better organization and search/filtering capabilities for your chests.

Better Quarry Redux — improves the spawn rate of geodes, ore, and gems in the quarry.

Better Ranching — adds a bubble above the heads of farm animals informing you if they need petted and/or milked/sheered/whatever.

Better Truffles — Adds the capability for pigs to dig for truffles in tall grass and provide a bubble to show that the truffles are there.

Better Winter Star Gifts —reduces the number of 'dud' gifts at the Feast.

Bigger Backpack — allows you to purchase an additional row of storage space in your backpack.

Bigger Fridges — Increases the size of the fridge from 36 slots to 70.

Blue Eggs and Golden Mayo — allows you to make blue eggs/blue mayo from blue chickens, and golden mayo and ostrich mayo.

Boss Battles — This mod adds 7 new unique bosses to the mines with varying difficulty settings and arenas, each dropping cool costumes and valuable materials.

Brown Cows Give Chocolate Milk — Exactly what it says. Also allows you to make chocolate bars from chocolate milk.

Build and Place Anything Anywhere — Lets you build, farm, or place furniture / objects anywhere.

Catalogue Filter - Continued — Adds a filter field for shop menus and catalogues that lets you filter shown items based on text input.

Central Station — Travel to other mods' destinations by boat, bus, or train. You can also get a ticket to the Central Station to change line, visit the gift shop, and more.

Challenging Community Center Bundles — A bundle overhaul mod which tries to create a challenging but not frustrating experience playing Stardew Valley.

Chests Anywhere — access your chests from anywhere on the map, or from select locations as set up in the config.

CJB Cheats Menu — a GUI to access various console commands. I mostly use it to freeze time while decorating or to warp to certain locations prior to unlocking the minecarts, because with as many expansions as I have, it takes for-freaking-ever to walk everywhere.

CJB Item Spawner — allows you to spawn any item in the game. Useful for cheating for respawning an item that bugged.

CJB Show Item Sell Price — shows a tooltip telling you how much an item (or stack of items) would sell for.

Cornucopia - Artisan Machines — Similar to PPJA Artisan Valley, this adds ten new artisan machines, over eight new goods, four new special orders, and vanilla-style balance.

Cornucopia More Crops — adds over 90 new crops and 35 new trees. I moved to this when PPJA did not get updated for 1.6.

Cornucopia More Flowers — adds over 40 new flowers and 5 new flowering trees to the game. Again, moved to this after PPJA was discontinued.

Custom Wedding Ceremony — Adds seven different wedding locations, more decorations, changes Lewis's speech, and other delightful small details.

One Dress a Day Challenge

July: Blue Redux (+ Green Redux)

Little Shop of Horrors / Tichina Arnold as Crystal, Tisha Campbell as Chiffon, and Michelle Weeks as Ronette

These are the outfits worn by our "Greek Chorus" during the opening credits, showcasing the bubble skirt look that was fashionable during the early 1960s, when the movie is set. The dresses also feature stiff "wings" on the bodices, matching hair ribbons, and spotted blue net gloves.

In addition to different dresses for every appearance, they also get different hairstyles. With their lavender dresses, they wear shorter and more helmet-like styles; these hairdos with the blue dresses are a little longer and more playful, with a bit of the 1950s still about them. I like the way each one's hair ribbon is slightly different (bow versus headband versus headband with bow).

138. Change of Scenery (Redux)

Original Change of Scenery was Jared heading back to Edmonton, so he’s got to say he likes this one better.

Bryce is more nervous than Jared’s ever seen him.

Okay, maybe not like, as nervous as he was stepping out of the car and offering his hand to Jared’s dad after he caught them with Jared’s hand in his pants, or the wrung tight anxiety of the final days of trade negotiations — which, holy shit no wonder — but it’s close, Bryce practically vibrating out of his skin as they get ready for media day. If Bryce tries to fix his hair one more time —

He wants them to like him so bad. Like, never wanted it more, and that’s saying something, because Bryce desperately wants to be liked.

“I want this to be my team, you know?” Bryce says. “Like, we’re going to be here for awhile, and—”

He wants them to like him SO BAD.

Jared kisses his scrunched up forehead. “They’ll like you. Just like. Be Bryce. Real Bryce. Real Bryce is great.”

Excellent advice from someone who otherwise does not consider himself an authority on making people like you. But as someone who doesn't like other people and is still pretty fucking charmed by Real Bryce, he has experience on this one.

They’ve made ground rules: they’re going to go to team stuff separately, at least to start. Revisit later, but right now Bryce will go in alone and Gabe will pick Jared up, which he started doing last season for Environment Reasons, like they aren’t flying in chartered planes on the regular. They’re not going to sit together on the plane either, Jared back in the rotation with Gabe, who goes between him and Dmitry depending on if he wants chill company or not.

Eating together at dinners, that’s fine, because it’s not like, a partner thing, so Jared will continue to eat with Gabe and Bryce will join. They’re not going to lean into any media about a bromance. They don’t need to like, stick together twenty four hours a day, they get to spend more time together than they ever have, so team time’s like, different. Will some teammates figure out they’re together anyway? Probably, judging by the past, but they’re going to do their best to avoid it, and just take it as it comes.

And no sleepovers on the road, Jared doesn’t care how much Bryce pouts about it.

No matter how old and jaded Jared gets, he still remains terribly naive about certain things. It’s so cute that you think there won’t be any sleepovers on the road, Jared.

“He went ahead,” Jared says. “We figured we’d like, come in separately for a bit, be like, subtle.”

Gabe and Stephen exchange a look. Jared’s not sure what it’s meant to convey, but it succeeds at annoying him.

I think we all know this look conveys ‘our boy somehow still thinks they can be subtle’.

“I know,” Gabe says. “Just — don’t get your hopes up about not getting caught? The guys aren’t dumb.”

“I know,” Jared says.

“And you’re kind of obvious,” Gabe says.

“I know,” Jared mutters.

Stop bursting his bubble by stating facts, Gabe.

“Oh my god, are you like, momming and dadding me right now?” Jared says.

“Are you the mom?” Stephen asks.

“I think I’m the mom,” Gabe says.

Gabe is 100% the mom. In their parenting of this sullen teenager and in his role as an A on the Canucks. He’s also totally the mom friend. He accepts this.

“You guys fucking suck at hiding your relationship,” Stephen says. “And yeah, yeah, that’s at me and Gabe’s, safe space, but it took Gabe, what, thirty seconds?”

“At least a minute,” Gabe says.

“It took Gabe fifteen seconds to figure out you guys were together the first time he met Bryce,” Stephen says.

Stephen accurately assuming Gabe is being diplomatic with this minute business.

“It’s best not to lie to the children,” Stephen says. “Santa’s not real, neither is the Easter Bunny, you two are going to get caught.”

Jared rolls his eyes.

“The hockey gods probably exist though,” Gabe says.

“Oh, absolutely,” Stephen agrees.

They 100% exist. Because this is my ‘verse and I say so.

“They don’t,” Jared mutters.

“If they didn’t you wouldn’t be on the same team as your husband,” Stephen says.

Jared cannot retort, because ‘no that’s because his agent and him did some pretty unethical shit to make it happen’.

Excellent use of brain to mouth filter here. Also it’s ‘he and his agent’. Grammar fail.

“He’s sulking, Gabriel,” Stephen says.

“Yeah, he does that,” Gabe says.

Excellent use of brain to mouth filter by Gabe not pointing out that Stephen is prone to that himself. But he's generally good at the brain to mouth filter thing.

Jared scowls out the window.

“Chin up, Math,” Gabe says. “You’re about to see your husband.”

Jared bites his lip hard so he doesn’t smile. He doesn’t think it works.

Gabe’s a good hockey mom.

“I wonder what his nickname’s going to be,” Stephen muses. “Since they’ve already got a Marksy.”

Bryce was indeed Marksy on the Flames (Marcsy?). But Gabe’s got dibs in Van.

“Probably something skill related,” Gabe says. Clearly he is uninterested in ceding the Marksy name. “Maybe military? Snipeshow, Gunner. Or something tactical if they figure out early that he’s got a killer hockey IQ.”

Jared gives into the inevitable smile.

Gabe nailing it here — Bullet it is. And a bit of a self-referential thing with the tactical names for the titles of early IJ(aoe).

Also Jared continues to be such a sucker for Bryce’s hockey IQ, and such a sucker for people that aren’t him noticing and admiring said hockey IQ.

“What’s his middle name?” Stephen asks.

“Justin,” Jared says.

“BJ?” Stephen says. “Yeah, you two keep that to yourselves.”

“No kidding,” Jared says.

“BJ,” Stephen snickers, and Jared has the sinking feeling that Stephen is exclusively going to refer to Bryce as BJ from now on.

That would be so CHILDISH, Jared. Obviously he will carefully save it for the moment that it will annoy Bryce the most, like an adult.

he fiddles around on his phone and waits, enduring a crushing hug from Dmitry Kurmazov and an even more irritating hair ruffle before Dmitry unceremoniously crashes Gabe’s interview to do the same thing to him in front of laughing reporters. Gabe endures it with much more grace than Jared. Jared supposes he’s used to it after a decade on the same team.

Gabe, getting a hug from one of his closest friends after not seeing him for months: :)

Jared: Wow, good work enduring that indignity, Gabe. I don’t know how you do it.

Jared leaves him to it, endures another hug from Dmitry — he just saw him —

Hugging Jared Matheson twice in 24 hours if you aren’t a) Bryce Marcus or b) it’s literally just Bryce Marcus but he’ll endure it from Elaine he guesses... is like petting a hissing cat. Watch your hands.

echoes Gabe’s ‘good to see you again, Bryce’ when Bryce’s introductions land in their corner.

Gabe rolls his eyes at Jared.

“What,” Jared.

Bryce: Hey guys.

Gabe: Hey, Bryce, good to see you again.

Jared: …YES. GOOD TO SEE YOU AGAIN.

Bryce:

Gabe:

Jared:

Bryce: Okay I’m gonna—

Gabe: Good idea.

It’s all of twenty minutes into training camp before Bryce has made a friend.

Jared eyes him.

Dmitry says something, and Bryce dissolves into giggles.

Jared’s eyes grow narrower.

“Glaring at your liney because he’s making your boy laugh is not being subtle, Math,” Gabe murmurs right into his ear.

Jared glowering in the corner, horrible visions of more Dmitry in his future in his head.

It’s off ice stuff in the morning — Coach is big on team-building, and Jared would roll his eyes but the Canucks are a close-knit team, so it seems to work —

Jared implying that he isn’t rolling his eyes anyway and that’s a lie.

Gabe elbows him again. “Math,” he says.

“Hm?” Jared says.

“Please don’t tell me that’s your handwriting over his heart,” Gabe says, low

Gabe and Stephen give Jared this whole ‘don’t get your hopes up about not getting caught’ speech and Jared neglects to inform them Bryce has a TATTOO OF HIS NAME? There will be so much kvetching to Stephen later. Over his HEART, Stephen. These boys say they don’t want to come out and then he gets his a tattoo of Jared’s name on his HEART. What is the MATTER with these kids?

It still gets to him, a low punch in the gut when he sees it, but then, it’s only been a few weeks since Bryce snuck out and got the tattoo. Would Jared have vetoed it if Bryce asked first? Absolutely. Is Jared kind of stupidly obsessed with it? Also the case.

Jared is embarrassed and horny about it.

“Don’t tell Stephen,” Jared says.

“No way Stephen doesn’t watch an interview and put two and two together,” Gabe says. “Sorry.”

If he doesn’t tell Stephen who will he complain to, Jared? Do you want Gabe to EXPLODE?

“He tattooed your name on his chest and you two think you aren’t going to be caught,” Gabe mumbles, more to himself than Jared.

Gabe continues to be in utter disbelief.

Jared gets a ride back with Gabe after training camp, starts making them dinner, because if he doesn’t start now it’s not going to happen. They got bag skated at the end of the day. Bag skating’s always hell, but at least when it’s a punishment you feel like you’re atoning for something. Bag skating at the start of training camp’s a fitness gauge, nothing more, but it still feels like a punishment.

Bag skates are getting rarer and rarer, both during the season and during training camps, but under Travis Green the Canucks were indeed bag skated every training camp. Somebody always pukes.

“My legs feel like lead,” Jared says.

“Sit, I’ll take over,” Bryce offers, and Jared takes him up on it, though he does drag the chair closer, half to keep Bryce company, half to backseat cook because he doesn’t trust him. He hasn’t earned it.

Extremely valid.

“I can’t believe he manipulated you into free babysitting within one day of meeting you,” Jared says.

To be fair, Bryce offered.

“You aren’t tired,” Jared accuses.

“I’m tired,” Bryce says.

“You don’t look tired,” Jared mutters.

Bryce kisses the top of his head.

Jared absolutely livid that Bryce isn’t tired. And Bryce remembering that training camp Jared is like an angry hedgehog.

“Went pretty well for a first day,” Bryce says.

“Shh, sleeping,” Jared mumbles.

“You’re kind of mean when you’re exhausted,” Bryce says, but like, fondly.

“Shh,” Jared repeats. “Sleeping.”

Angry hedgehogs are adorable.

“He wasn’t tired after the bag skate,” Jared says.

Gabe gives him an incredulous look.

“I know,” Jared says.

“Maybe he’s just better at pretending?” Gabe asks.

“He isn’t,” Jared says. “We hate him.”

“We absolutely hate him,” Gabe agrees.

Bryce and Dmitry are giggling about something when they get in.

Jared glares at them and then slowly gets into his gear.

ONE DAY. One day before Bryce makes an enemy in the Canucks locker room. It is his husband.

139. Proving Ground

Jared’s sure plenty of them mocked Bryce when he was the enemy, but they’re pretending butter wouldn’t melt in their mouths now that he’s their guy.

I believe this is legally required of all homers.

They’re a good group of guys. Jared may not hang out with any of them other than Gabe and sometimes Dmitry if he tags along, but that’s not an indictment of his teammates, just personal preference.

Jared hates 99.99% of people, so don’t take it personally.

It isn’t even halfway through preseason before Bryce has a buddy on every line. He sits with Gabe and Jared at meals sometimes, but just as often he’s off talking with his lineys, or laughing with the rowdy group Jared keeps his distance from, sometimes sitting with the vets, talking strategy, is even chatty with the coaching staff.

Look at Bryce Marcus making friends everywhere he goes!! He’s trying, but he’s not desperate, and that makes a big difference. As does the locker room a) not being toxic AF and b) not having particular expectations for him, other than ‘scores lots’, they hope.

Bryce, in lieu of Marksy, which belongs firmly to Gabe, becomes Bullet to the Canucks room. It’s a pretty lazy nickname — alliteration, yeah, Bryce has killer accuracy, a snapshot that comes off his stick before you can blink, skates faster than his size would indicate. Marksman with a bullet, shot like a bullet, fast like a bullet, sure. Accurate. Lazy, though.

Sounds kind of like you like it, Jared.

They need to practice him with his new line in actual game situations, and there’s no better place to see how he’s going to stack up against his former team than against said team, so Jared suspects they’re saving his first appearance against the Flames for the drama of it all.

Cross-checking Jared’s friends is only acceptable after a hat trick minimum.

“I barely tapped him,” Bryce mutters.

Jared pulls his phone out.

“Okay I more than tapped him!” Bryce says, while Jared goes to twitter to find a gif as counter-evidence.

Why would you blatantly lie to Jared and not expect him to immediately pull receipts.

“You wouldn’t cross-check Chaz,” Jared says. So that just leaves Julius and Raf and like, Gabe and Stephen, and Raf’s in the East, Gabe’s his teammate, and Stephen’s a civilian now, albeit one who deserves a whack or two sometimes.

“I might,” Bryce says, but not with any sincerity. He’s too soft for this sport.

Stephen definitely deserves to be cross-checked.

Also you can’t bitch about Bryce cross-checking your friends and then call him soft for not cross-checking one of them, Jared.

The game against the North Stars is also a blowout — they’re getting on their colt legs in the rebuild, and there’s indisputably talent there, but it’s fragile. The Canucks grind that immaturity in their too-young-to-shave faces.

These aren’t our Rookie Detectives — in fact, Roman’s the only one in Minny at this point (not counting Mike). Liam’s in Detroit, Harry and Victor playing NCAA, Val in Russia, Connie in the WHL (he hasn’t even been drafted yet). But soon!

Bryce is still pouty in the morning; he stole the Eeyore cup for maximal glumness and everything.

Love that max glumness for Bryce involves Jared’s cup. What does this mean, Jared? Surely, Jared says, it’s because Eeyore’s on it, not for any other reason.

“Obviously this is so you get your first against the Flames,” Jared says. “Divine retribution and all that.”

“Fuck the Flames,” Bryce says, brightening up.

Hell, Bryce isn’t nervous, humming over breakfast, cheerful in a sort of bloodthirsty way, like he can’t wait to humiliate the Flames.

Warm-ups don’t help. Bryce sticks like glue to the home end, pots shot after shot on Salazar, back firmly to the visitors’ side of the ice, posture tense. Gabe gives Jared a significant look as they’re filing back into the locker room, but Jared can’t exactly go over to Bryce and say what he wants to, do what he wants to, wrap a hand around the nape of Bryce’s clammy neck, press their foreheads together, tell him he has this. Anything that would actually help Bryce would be the sort of obvious that might get picked up on.

Jared is probably right that they wouldn’t be able to make any moral support from Jared look ‘bro’ enough, but also Bryce clearly needs it right now. So cue Gabe’s significant look.

Gabe’s the last one to get to Bryce, gets him in a headlock in the hall, and Bryce is still grumbling about it when he steps onto the ice, fully distracted as he skates over to the blue line. Jared taps Gabe’s knee on the bench, and Gabe taps his right back.

Gabe’s got his back. Both their backs.

The second seems to be more of the same. Halfway through the game they’re still knotted at 0-0, and Jared can count good chances on one hand. For both teams. Combined. At this rate it’s going to be the worst of all worlds — a goalie battle without the show-stopping saves, a physical game without the big hits, a tight fought tight defended cleanly played boring ass game.

Woo, the trap. When you want to win, but you don’t want your fans to enjoy it.

Thankfully the Canucks’ first line makes the executive decision to break the stalemate just as Jared’s wincing and trying to take that thought back, like he’s cursed the team with it

For someone who insists he’s not superstitious, Jared sure thinks about curses a lot.

Bryce gets a secondary assist on a power play goal, the start of a tic-tac-tip, and that’s all they need to win it. Bryce with a point in every goal, Bryce’s goal the game-winner, and he’s absolutely mobbed when they get off the ice, teammates with claps on the back and media impatiently waiting at the doors to mob him themselves, but not before he has to go right back out for first star of the game.

Divine retribution!!! (And a very motivated player.)

He replies to a very kindly worded demand for a celebratory dinner from Elaine when he gets back to their condo, listens to a voicemail from his dad, who enjoyed a Flames loss for the first time in his entire life, judging by the gleeful malice in his voice, is finishing up a surprisingly decent dinner from the meal service they’re trying out when the front door flies open.

It’s good that Jared recognises that Elaine being polite and friendly doesn’t make that any less of a demand. Also — friendship with Flames over, Canucks are Don’s new best friend.

“Jared!” Bryce calls, like he hasn’t seen him in days and can’t wait a minute longer. Jared can hear him taking off his shoes, mostly because they hit the wall with two thuds.

“Jared!” he says again when he sees Jared at the kitchen island. Which is like, visible from the front hall, it’s an open concept place. Jared was right there the whole time.

Jared did you see!!!!

“Shut up,” Bryce says, still very cheerful about it.

“Make me,” Jared says. It’s not a hat trick or anything, but he thinks a three point night deserves something, let alone a three point night against the Flames. That’s like hat trick level spite.

“Do I need to?” Bryce asks. “Or are you going to do it because that goal was hot as fuck?”

Finally Jared can find Bryce’s goals hot without being conflicted about that because it was against his team. Truly big for him.

“Cocky,” Jared says, but it’s not exactly a hardship. Well, a bit of one, because he can’t keep giving Bryce shit if he’s got his dick in his mouth, but Bryce did the Canucks like, a service. This is team building. Offering an incentive for good play. Building positive habits.

Apparently Bryce is coasting on endorphins after a hell of a night — and who could blame him — because he doesn’t actually occupy Jared’s mouth all that long. Jared is not the only one who gets off on Bryce’s goalscoring, apparently.

“Fast as a bullet,” Jared murmurs against his hip, then, “Ow!”, because Bryce, even come dumb, is still completely capable of landing a stinging flick to his ear.
