As is tradition we held our annual "Batshit Aussie Moment of The Year" poll on twitter this month, and as is also tradition it was a complete dumpster fire and we ended up having to delete our account again. Such is life, as the French don't say.

Nevertheless we had a lot of great nominations from what was truly a year full of the utmost topshelf batshittery which we shan't be letting go to waste. So we preset:

Batshit Aussie Moments of The Year, The Now Undemocratic Countdown

Leading the nominations there was of course Raygun, the little Aussie PHD breakdancer that couldn't. Recently she has trademarked her name and there was a whole lawsuit around using it so no further comment on that.

Dr Ray was followed close in second place by Australia's former Deputy Prime Minister being filmed drunkenly making phonecalls while sprawled across a sidewalk.

This glorious video saw the good people of Australia rise to the occasion with all the pisstaking the moment deserved, complete with chalk crime scene markings, a plaque being installed, and a candlelight vigil held by locals.

Also making a strong showing in the polls was Australia's richest woman Gina Rinehart pulling a Barb Streisand by demanding her unflattering portrait be removed from Australia's National Art Gallery, which of course made it immediately go viral.

Lol. Also noteworthy in the nominations was the horse that escaped its enclosure and tried to flee by catching a train, making national news headlines in the process.

But for all those big names/horses who we're sure would love the limelight, the crown title of this year's Batshit Aussie Moment of The Year is being awarded to a regular everyday Aussie (and tumblr user) who fought the system and (almost) won:

After 23 year old Aussie racecar driver Oscar Piastri won the Hungarian Grand Prix, our very own @the-prophesied-mouse "jokingly submitted an e‒petition" to Australia's parliament asking that the day become a public holiday, "assuming it would get thrown out".

Instead their request for a yearly national "Oscar Piastri Day" crossed the threshold of signatures required for a response, being then escalated all the way to the Prime Minister's desk after the responding minister decided it was of utmost importance.

After being sternly considered by no less than three government ministers, sadly in November it was declared that the petition would not be ratified, due to the small issue of the federal government not having the power to create holidays (it's apparently a state thing).

The government did however point out that many national days are celebrated without official proclamation from the Australian government, and so it is, with the powers vested in us by all you loveable weirdos, that we do solemnly declare from this day forth that the 21st July shall be forever known as Oscar Piastri Day, and may all non-believers fear our wrath.

Anyway, happy new year to you all from us here in Aus. Farewell to a truly Batshit year, and here's to no doubt more of the same in 2025. We will leave you with this heartfelt reminder of a true national treasure we lost this year, the progenor of perhaps the most iconic Aussie batshit moment of all time, The Right Hon. A comprehensive new report commissioned by the Utah Department of Health and Human Services provides one of the most detailed and exhaustive assessments to date on the medical safety, effectiveness, and long-term outcomes of gender-affirming care for transgender and nonbinary youth. And despite recent political rhetoric suggesting otherwise, the findings are clear: gender-affirming medical treatment, when guided by evidence-based protocols, helps transgender adolescents thrive. The report “Gender-Affirming Medical Treatments for Pediatric Patients with Gender Dysphoria” was produced by the University of Utah’s College of Pharmacy Drug Regimen Review Center and submitted to the state in August 2024. It arrives in the wake of Utah’s controversial Senate Bill 16, which placed a moratorium on gender-affirming medical care for minors and tasked health officials with conducting a review to determine whether the ban should remain in place. Rather than validating the restrictions, the 900-page report systematically debunks the narrative that these treatments are experimental or dangerous. Instead, it affirms what many healthcare professionals, families, and transgender individuals already know from lived experience: that access to gender-affirming hormone therapy and puberty blockers reduces psychological distress, improves quality of life, and is supported by decades of research. The Utah report is among the most thorough reviews conducted by a state agency. It draws on more than 270 clinical studies from the U.S., Canada, the Netherlands, Australia, and Europe, spanning observational studies, randomized controlled trials, and long-term descriptive research. These studies examined the mental and physical health outcomes of transgender youth who underwent gender-affirming medical care, including puberty blockers (GnRH analogs), cross-sex hormones (testosterone or estrogen), and related medications. Key findings include: Significant mental health improvement in adolescents undergoing gender-affirming care, including reductions in depression, anxiety, suicidality, and eating disorders. Improved quality of life and self-image reported by TGNB youth after starting hormone therapy. Low rates of regret or treatment discontinuation, especially when care is delivered through comprehensive, multidisciplinary teams. No serious long-term health risks found in monitored populations receiving hormone therapy, including studies with follow-ups as long as 40 years. The authors conclude that there is more evidence supporting gender-affirming care than there is for many high-risk new drugs approved for children in the U.S., including recent gene therapies.

It's Yana Toboso's birthday! (January 24, 1984)

Yana forgot her birthday this year...

... so there's even more reason to congratulate her and celebrate!

Some trivia:

She chose her penname "Yana Toboso" to indicate what kind of manga she wanted to create: Because there are so many mangas whose central themes are dreams, hope, friendship, and love, she wanted to make a manga whose focus is the opposite. "Yana" derives from "iya" (unpleasant, detestable, disagreeable; here: unpleasant/nasty child), and "toboso" is meant to signify importance: a "toboso" is a cavity in the frame of a door used as part of a pivot hinge; as doors wouldn't work without hinges, hinges are important objects. "Yana Toboso," therefore, is meant to mean "the hated/bad child is in the middle" (憎まれっ子がど真ん中にく る). (Character Guide, page 146)

Yana once stated that Ciel resembles her the most out of her characters. (Character Guide, page 147)

Yana's grandmother encouraged her to become a mangaka, and her mother pushed her to submit her work to a publisher when she was 20. Both have since passed away. (sources: akumadeenglish, The Japan Times)

She is a fan of the band L'Arc-en-Ciel (source). HYDE, the vocalist of that band, wrote the opening for Season 5. Yana was obviously very happy about that!

Yana contemplated making "fluffy spin-offs" to Kuroshitsuji, e.g., "a gourmet manga featuring the canteen of the Shinigami dispatch association HQ, or a manga where the Indian butler cooks curry or the black butler makes sweets, or where the servants make small discoveries." However, she dropped those ideas because her "fluffy concepts" kept becoming ominous after a few chapters. (source)

Kuroshitsuji was not meant to be set in 19th-century England from the beginning. Mr. K and the chief editor eventually suggested England as the setting. Yana, who did not know much about England (and could not find many materials early on; source: Downstairs with Kuroshitsuji II in Volume 2), especially not about 19th-century England, and did not believe the manga would be a hit anyway, then cooked up the wonderfully anachronistic Volume 1. Since then, Yana has become more knowledgeable about Victorian England, got a historical advisor (Rico Murakami) who also, sometimes, translates sources for her (source: Downstairs with Kuroshitsuji Special in Volume 15), has been (re-)learning English, and visited England twice. The manga has, thus, become significantly more historically accurate over the years. Still, as it's a fantasy manga, Yana likes to incorporate anachronistic elements for story purposes (e.g. Grim Reaper tech and possessions, Wolfsschlucht) anyway (or simply because she wants to; e.g. the idol groups, I suppose). Anachronisms have, thus, shifted from accidental to deliberate.

Sebastian's mobile phone will be forever iconic, but it has been retconned for over a decade now.

And The Wild Earl lost more than his head was cancelled when all TVs were thrown out of the continuity with the end of the Indian Butler Arc (TVs are last mentioned in Chapter 23).

May we learn many Victorian things alongside Yana in the next years too!

Soulsmake Schedule

Soulsmake is an event centered on working with someone new and enjoying the process of creation!

Sign up as a writer, an artist, or either, and be assigned a random soulmate, ideally in pairs or writer+artist. Once pairs are rolled, you’ll have about a month to talk to your soulmate, find some common ground, and make an AU!

What that creation process looks like is up to the two of you—you two can draw or write as much or as little as you’d like. You can make full color art or a simple sketch, and you can write a full fic or a simple outline. You don’t even have to make anything at all! All you have to do to “complete” this event is have a single conversation.

Soulsmake is about making a friend and making a story. It’s about the journey, not the destination. Simply have fun with this low stakes, low pressure creativity event!

Below is the planned schedule, and a small explanation as to how each phase will work.

Below the cut will be more information on each step of the event process. If you have any questions not answered in this post, check the #soulsmake qna tag on this blog to see if your question has been answered already, and if it hasn’t, our ask box is open!

Sign ups:

There will be a little over two weeks to sign up for Soulsmake. We’ll be asking you for your name, your socials, and your discord—this is the information that will be available to the other participants of the event during the limiting process.

Next, we’ll ask if you’re signing up as an artist, a writer, or either. We’ll be trying to make pairs of artist+writer, though we don’t imagine an even amount of artists and writers will be signing up, so that isn’t guaranteed. Signing up as either will help with balancing these, so if you can do both, consider signing up as either!

After that, we’ll be asking you your age bracket, specifically whether you’re an adult or a minor, and then ask if you’re comfortable working with someone in the opposite age bracket. Your exact age is not necessary, and this information will not be public.

Finally, we’ll be asking whether you’re comfortable with working in a team of three instead of as a pair. This is in case of an odd number of sign ups. We may also consider using teams of three so all teams have at least one writer and one artist.

Once you hit submit on the sign up sheet, the confirmation page will have a link to the event’s discord server. Joining that is required, as we’ll be hosting much of the rest of the event through discord!

Pool limiting:

The next phase of the event is pool limiting. Once sign ups are closed, participants will gain access to a spreadsheet of the names, socials, and discords of all the other participants. You will then be asked to fill out a second form with everyone you want removed from your roster of possible soulmates.

This serves two purposes. The first: if you have any usual creation partner(s) you tend to work with, we would like you to write them down. We want you to work with someone you’ve never worked with before, so note down your usual accomplices to ensure you don’t get them by chance!

Second, if you see someone on the list you don’t get along with, we’d also like you to note down their names and remove them from your pool. We don’t want anyone to be randomly paired with someone they already know they won’t work well with, so this step should help minimize those conflicts by preventing them from happening.

Who you put on your limits list will be completely private, and once the event has ended, the list will be deleted.

If you do not submit a limit form, we will assume you are open to anyone who fits within the criteria from the original signup form.

Soulmate Assignment and rerolls:

[Note: Rolling soulmates may end up taking an extra day or two depending on how many sign ups we receive! If this happens, the other dates will also be pushed back accordingly.]

Finally, the soulmates will be rolled! When pairs are finalized, we’ll announce them in the discord server by pinging users. The creation period can start here for most pairs as they DM their partners, as the creation period will be done one-on-one in private DMs between soulmates rather than in the server itself.

In the first week after soulmates are rolled, participants will be asked to chat with their soulmates and get to know each other. Find out what your soulmate is interested in and find common ground!

In this stage, we’ll ask you all to be flexible and respectful. It’s possible your soulmate doesn’t watch your favorite CC, or that you aren’t super interested in your soulmate’s top favorite type of AU. That’s okay! Try to be open-minded about what your soulmate is interested in, and be flexible with what you yourself are willing to create—you’ll likely have something to bond over!

Open, kind communication will be key, as will a willingness to branch out and explore new things! If you aren’t able to be respectful and flexible, this event may not be for you.

That said, if you find that you and your soulmate aren’t compatible for any reason (ie you can find no common ground, or you’re on opposite timezones, or you just don’t really click or get along), you can come to an amicable split. If you and your soulmate decide to split, one member should head to the discord and make a ticket with the mods and ask to reroll.

Fair warning: If you and your partner cannot be respectful of each other in your decision to split, one or both of you might be asked to bow out of the event.

How rerolls will be handled will depend on how many people need rerolls and how they want their rerolls handled. Options will include rerolling new random pairs, individuals joining existing pairs, or participants picking their own new soulmate.

Creation period:

Once the pairs are solidified, the creation period officially begins! Soulmates will have one month to make up an AU together, and once the month is up, you’ll be asked to share what you have.

Again, this is a low stakes, low pressure event. You can go all out and create full art or a completed fic, or you can do some simple sketches or a simple outline. The only thing you need to do to “complete” this event is have a conversation with your soulmate!

While this is a Life Series fandom event, if you and your soulmate feel inspired to make an AU for another fandom you both share, you can do so. You can also make an original story or work with your sonas/OCs. Shipping is allowed if both parties are comfortable with it, and while we do not care if adult pairs create NSFW, we will not be reblogging it to this blog. Absolutely no GenAI or C.AI will be allowed.

to the 10 non-israeli hostages still in hamas captivity (listed from top left to bottom right):

bipin joshi, 23, nepal. an agronomy student, bipin arrived at israel to study citrus cultivation, only 3 weeks before 7/10. he was staying at kibbutz alumim when the attack started. at first, when the rockets started, bipin sheltered in a bunker with 16 other nepalese foreigners. thinking this was a "regular" attack, and will pass soon, they've even taken a group selfie, which one of them had uploaded to facebook with the caption "bunker time". bipin can be seen in this photo.

fear settled in when the sound of gunfire was getting closer. terrorists briefly entered the bunker at first, shooting at the men. two were instantly killed - one who was filming with his phone, and one who shouted "we're nepalese!" the terrorists have then started throwing grenades into the bunker. the men have crowded against the wall - except for bipin, who jumped at the grenades to throw them away. he was successful with the first grenade; but the second one exploded before he could get to it, and left several of the men injured and unconscious. the terrorists have moved on from the bunker, and later the men heard distant shouts of israeli officers, who arrived at the active scene of the attack, instructing them to come to a nearby kitchen for better shelter. while a few of the men immediately went there, bipin and a few of his friends tried to first aid those who were injured by the grenade. it was during this time that he quickly texted his cousin, in english: “If something happens to me you have to take care of my family. Be strong and always see the future.” it was then that two terrorists broke into the bunker. one, pointing a gun at the men left inside, instructed them to come outside with him. the other filmed them with his phone - with the footage being the last time bipin was seen. bipin's phone was later located in the gaza strip.

2. sudthisak rinthalak, 43, thailand. a farm worker, he was working the orchards of kibbutz be'eri on the morning of the attack. he was murdered on the spot, and his body kidnapped into the gaza strip. his death was confirmed to his family on may 16, 2024, following an investigation of the available evidence. may he rest in peace.

3. watchara sriaoun, 32, thailand. a farm worker, he was kidnapped from kibbutz nir oz, where he was working. watchara arrived in israel back in 2020 with his brother, in order to cover their family debt and pay their father's medical bills. apart from his mother and brother, waiting for him back home is also watchara's 9 year old daugher, irada, whose mother died in august 2024.

4. sathian suwannakham, 35, thailand. a farm worker from kibbutz nir oz, he arrived at israel in 2020. sathian was seriously injured during his kidnapping. his mother found out about it via a video on facebook; she, alongside sathian's father and sister, are still waiting in thailand for any word on him.

5. pongsak tanna, 36, thailand. a farm worker, he would often livestream while working, talking to his father wilas, or his 14 year old daughter. on the morning of 7/10, pongsak video called his father. during the 10 minute call, he described the chaos of rockets and gunfire, shouting at people around him to hide from the terrorists. eventually the signal was cut. pongsak was kidnapped into the gaza strip. during the weeks after 7/10, wilas spent days riding his bike around his home province, alongside the thailand-cambodia border, looking for anyone with a relative in israel who could help him search for pongsak. he had spent thousands of bahts (hundreds of dollars) repeatedly submitting legal documents to the government, in hope for any news on his son. “if my son is alive, whenever israel can get the hostages released, I want (him) to come home quickly to (his) hometown," silas said in an interview back in october 2024. “most importantly, i want my son to be ordained (as a buddhist monk) for his mom who died when he was away."

6. bannawat seathao, 27, thailand. a farm worker, he was shot in the leg before being kidnapped.

7. nattapong pinta, 35, thailand. nicknamed "nick", nattapong, a farm worker, came to work in israel a year and a half before 7/10, leaving his wife and young son, in order to pay off a debt and help his wife fulfill her dream of opening a coffee shop. he worked the avocado groves in nir oz. during the occasional rocket attacks, nick would call his older sister, reassuring her. "i’m just saving up a little more money, then i’ll be coming back.” on the morning of 7/10, nick called him wife, narissara. there was shooting, he said, and he was running away. that was the last she heard from him. "i felt like my heart was being squeezed when i learned that he hadn't been freed yet," narissara said. "i will definitely go to the airport [when he returns]. nothing will stop me."

8. suntaya akrasi, 20, thailand. a farm worker, suntaya was murdered on 7/10 while working near kibbutz be'eri, then his body was kidnapped into the gaza strip. his death was confirmed on may 16th, 2024. may he rest in peace.

9. joshua loitu mollel, 21, tanzania. an agronomy student, he arrived at israel 3 weeks before 7/10, planning to stay for 11 months. both joshua and his roomate, clemence felix mtenga (22), a fellow student from tanzania, were murdered in nir oz. at first, the pair had managed to text a fellow tanzanian intern in the kibbutz, ezekiel kitiku, telling him that they were running for shelter. but after a few hours, the texts have stopped. joshua's violent kidnapping was filmed and posted online, showing the terrorists stabbing and shooting him several times. joshua's body was kidnapped into the strip; clemence's body was identified a month later. joshua's death was confirmed in december 2023. joshua was the oldest of 5 children, and his stay in israel was his first time traveling outside of tanzania. joshua's father told of joshua's younger siblings that they "ask me every morning and night: ‘Dad, we want to talk to our brother.'" may joshua and clemence rest in peace.

Join a Country Club Mod

Hello! Unfortunately, Rock Ridge Country Club has closed down due to financial mismanagement and embezzlement. However, your sims now can join an even better club: Cedar Creek Country Club!

I’m excited to announce that I’ve completely reworked the Country Club mod from scratch. This mod holds a special place in my heart as it was the first one I ever made, and I’m thrilled to present it with improved quality and new features.

If you’ve used my previous Country Club mod, you’ll notice both differences and similarities. So, how does the new mod work? Your sim can apply to become a member of Cedar Creek Country Club. This time, the process is more challenging, with the possibility of rejection, requiring more effort both financially and mentally.

However, the application process is streamlined for a smoother experience. Steps to become a member:

Pay Application Fee: This is a 5000 simoleon nonrefundable fee.

Fill out Application Form

Schedule Interview: Choose between two time slots and attend within 24 hours.

Write Letter of Interest

Submit Reference Letters: Cedar Creek requires two reference letters from current members. Your sim can ask a member directly or post on the Cedar Creek community forums. If a member is interested, they may call and offer to write a reference letter. This method is more challenging.

Attend Information Session (Optional): If you have questions about the club or application process, attend an information session available on weekdays.

• Interview Outcome

These elements can greatly increase your chances of getting accepted into the country club.​

Once they become a member and pay the $10,000 initiation fee, your entire household will also gain Cedar Creek membership.

As a Cedar Creek member, there are ongoing fees to pay. You can choose to pay annually (over four weeks) or quarterly (over one week). It’s important to stay on top of these payments to maintain your membership. There are many activities your sim can partake in with family and friends. You can find these options on the computer in the Country Club pie menu.​

Your sim can try to appeal to the country club if they have been rejected, kicked out, or blacklisted. The chances of getting another shot are very low, but high charisma can significantly help.

If they get lucky and are invited to meet with the admissions committee, they have a few hours to attend the meeting and must commit immediately. If they were previously kicked out, they will still need to pay the initiation fee again.

Lot Trait

I have also added a Country Club lot trait with the mod. So as a Cedar Creek member if you don't feel like going to rabbit hole activities you use the country club lot trait and use it on any lot.

I wanted the Country Club lot trait to be customizable, so random members won’t show up automatically; you need to assign members to make it exclusive.

You can assign members by left-shift clicking on the computer and finding the option under the country club pie menu. There are a few social interactions available for different sims at the country club, depending on their roles.

The lot trait is straightforward, but the key is to assign members. You can also remove members using the same method.

Does this mod require any DLC?

No, it does not.

Re: The Vacation Decoy

Last week we were speculating that L, N & BN flew to Cork for the Fastnet festival (or met up in Cork if L flew separately) and then left from there to Australia (see original post below***)

Today, we get confirmation it is probable...

1) A Primetime Emmys article came out today that states, for the interview, N is in her childhood bedroom in Galway over Zoom ⬇️

• The S3 Bridgy Emmys consideration announcement was on May 1st***

• The interview was likely scheduled after the Emmys consideration announcement was made, so sometime in May

2) W/ the above, N was probably in Galway after the Fastnet Festival in Cork; from the Baftas Nom. Party - on, her schedule was packed:

• Baftas Nom Party - April 24

• Cannes - April 26-28

• Olaplex dinner - May 1

• Miami F1 Grand Prix - May 4-5

• Baftas pre party/ ceremony - May 8 & 11

• Snap Forward at SHFH - May 15-16

• Fastnet Festival - May 23-25

• Portobello Market - May 31 *allegedly* 🚫

3) N may have had some free days pre-Fastnet, but they were still shooting S4 and L was also possibly in WM reshoots.

She only seemed to arrive in Ireland on May 23 for the start of the festival ⬇️

• Cork airport personnel stated she arrived from the UK, as did "The Irish Examiner"

• There are no direct flights from Galway to Cork - only connections i.e. that go back through London (4+ hrs), so if she'd been in Galway pre-Fastnet, she likely would've driven to Cork not flown

• The Fastnet festival is 1.5 hrs from the Cork airport, so staging a photo if she didn't land there would've been out of the way (not impossible just improbable)

4) A few other points:

• N was allegedly seen the same day as RZ at the Portobello Market on May 31 but RZ has been in London since *at least* May 3, per a photo for an "Evita" meet & greet, so it could've been & was likely another Sat. ⬇️

• Ms. A has posted a few pics of the ocean (TY @jmuz09 for asking Sunny where) - perhaps it's to indicate she's on vacation w/L. But L never said he was going on vacation, only N so she's basically outing them lol.

5) Conclusion: If N being in her childhood bedroom is accurate, the interview was probably post-Fastnet, reducing the likelihood she went back to London before talking off for Adelaide w/ baba & hubby. That makes the Portobello Market a travel decoy, and for whom might she need a travel decoy... ???

The rubber duck method is: when making something by yourself you may get stuck/stressed out because you can’t find a solution to a problem. Have a rubber duck on your desk just so you can verbally explain your problem, which could help you solve it by actually hearing it out loud. But a side effect of this is now Red Son will talk to himself while he works, even if it does help it still freaks his parents out hearing him mumbling to himself when they pass his room.
