My mother has been watching an old german detective show called Derrick and it literally sucks so much. We sometimes (not always) see crimes happen, which works for shows like Columbo where the point is the interesting way that he figures it out.
Derrick doesn't do that. The murderer always acts in a way that is insanely suspicious. The cops are always like "yeah that's the killer." And then it is. My least favourite episode was the one where a model kills herself and then her brother goes on to kill her rapists, who fucking deserved it btw. The whole time it's so clear from his behaviour that he did it that I was begging for a twist. Maybe it was the girl's coworker. But no. The whole episode is just derrick going back and forth talking to this guy and people who knew the girl, trying to scrape together evidence that he's the killer. And then he is. And he gets arrested. Credits roll. I hate this show so much.

The relationship between Penelope and Eckles: A bad ending scenario.
Readers of the popular manhwa/novel "Villains are destined to die" are well aware of the dynamic between Penelope and her first choice for survival, Eckles and many claim that it is a toxic relationship, which it is, but what REALLY makes it not only toxic but also a bad ending scenario for the characters? A lot of people shift the full blame to Eckles for bringing Yvonne/Leila back to the Eckharts, thus putting Penelope in danger, but he isn't the sole person to blame.
Tumblr media
The relationship in its simplest form is of a slave and his master. Their first meeting involves Penelope purchasing him from a slave auction for 100 million gold, and she makes it clear to him that he is still not a person in her eyes. The whole purpose of Penelope buying Eckles was for her own survival, yes but she doesn't try to hide what she sees him as: A pet or a dog that she is training to obey her every command.
Since Penelope is the slave master in this dynamic, she holds all the power that determines the fate of Eckles depending on if he obeys or disobey's what she wants out of him. Though she may be the most hated member of her household, she is still is the one with the money she used to purchase a human being or in her view a "pet"
The thing with Penelope that makes it harder to defend her when she does the things that she does is that the new soul in her body is originally from the modern era. She of all people should know better that slavery in general is one of humanities most disgusting crimes against itself and of all else, she has experienced severe abuse at the hands of her family, both her original family from the modern day and the Eckharts.
Penelope's own experiences and how they play into her abuse of Eckles.
As I'm sure we all know. Penelope was originally a poverty stricken girl who was barely getting by before she was adopted and welcomed into her new family when she was 12. Despite duke Eckhart being the one to adopt her, he does a half-assed job at it and pretty much gives up on trying to do anything more than the bare minimum when she supposedly starts acting out.
Her new brothers are no better than her original brothers and they absolutely despise her, seeing her as a shallow replacement of their lost younger sister and Penelope secretly wishing that Yvonne would either die or never come back did not help her case at all. Reynold would blame her for petty thievery to get out his frustrations on Penelope and Derrick was both lusting after her while wanting to trap and hurt her at the same time. The entire house family as all essentially a death trap where something as little as fork could kill Penelope. In general, she had no one she could trust and would be victim blamed if she ever voiced her concerns or even anger for her treatment.
However, when Penelope/ Cha Siyeon purchases a seemingly loyal Eckles, she doesn't believe that she could ever be at fault for being the master of a person who has been broken down so badly that he is essentially a blank slate for what could be considered grooming. Aside from Cha Siyeon being 20 and Eckles being 17, (which while that could be an interesting story to tell, I doubt that was meant the main point of why the relationship was abusive given that the body of Penelope is the same age.) The reason I believe that Penelope groomed Eckles is because even if you say, "But Penelope is also 17-18" Grooming can happen to anyone, children are the most vulnerable to it of course but it can also be applied to anyone around the abuser's age.
Grooming overall is taking somebody who is incredibly vulnerable and in need of care and exploiting that person by manipulating them through a built of trust to get what the abuser wants out them, which is usually sexual gratification but that's not what I think Penelope wants out of Eckles, what she wants is the safety she'll get from securing a good ending with one of the male leads and Eckles is the easiest to earn affection points from. The dynamic between them though is still under a huge power imbalance, where Eckles would not be allowed to say no to her no matter what she asks of him.
At first, Penelope thinks she is already doing a good job by doing the bare minimum for Eckles which at first includes not doing things that a lot of slave masters did to their slaves which you probably guessed, isn't really that worthy to earn an applause for not whipping a man. Besides, while Penelope hasn't been shown to be physically abusive, that doesn't mean she sees him as someone worthy of respect.
Below is a basic summary of what Eckles is to Penelope in panel form.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Penelope is essentially asserting her power over Eckles by reminding him that she has the power to send him back to slavery if she feels he is disobeying her.
If that alone isn't messed up, she is also given a ring that has the ability to paralyze Eckles if she presses it.
Tumblr media
I don't think enough people realize how disgusting the choker and ring really are. If someone really wanted to, this ring could be used to paralyze Eckles, and he wouldn't be able to anything to stop the ring holder from doing whatever they want to him. I would say that he is extremely that Penelope's goal isn't sexual gratification but really, we shouldn't be congratulating a slave owner for not sexually abusing their slave
When the audience sees that Penelope is praising Eckles instead of verbally abusing him, defending him from other guards that see him as lesser, and buying him new clothes and a sweet new sword, it is believed that Penelope is already breaking the cycle of abuse by what is essentially love bombing Eckles, which is a common step in the grooming process that is typically used so that the victim will have a harder time recognizing the abuser as abusive when they think back to all the adoration they showed for them in the past.
Remember, Penelope is not doing these nice things for Eckles because she wants him to feel comfortable or because she loves him. She's doing it for her own benefit: Her survival. Later on, when their relationship progresses, it seems like to some level, that Penelope starts to enjoy the power she has over Eckles, not just in the form of relief that she feels like she'll be safe but also as a twisted form of power that she finally has for herself. Everyone from both of her lives treated like absolute shit out of pure hatred for her or in Derricks case, as a sick way to distract himself from the fact that he wants to cage Penelope and keep her as a hidden wife. This would be the first time Penelope had control of really anything at all, a human being, I do believe that the big reason Penelope doesn't acknowledge that she's hurting someone is because Eckles is "willingly" serving her, obeying everything she says, seemingly not minding that she sees him as a pet, and calls her master, that she technically isn't doing anything wrong because ECKLES is the one who wants it even though he is a 17 year old slave who wouldn't be allowed to hate her even if he wanted to. She can't possibly fathom that she is an abuser because Eckles, a person who has been broken down so many times that he sees no value in himself as a human and only as Penelope's pet, is the one telling her she didn't do anything wrong.
while the goal of surviving the game isn't unreasonable, Penelope seems to justify EVERYTHING she does with her own survival. As I said, she isn't the type of person who wants to admit she's become exactly what she hated, this is most obviously shown in recent chapters where she tells Eckles that the reason she attempted suicide was because of him and that if she knew she would have to see him again, it would have been better if she actually died.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
She is completely ignoring the fact that she played a huge hand in dehumanizing Eckles as nothing but a tool and when that tool feels to have lost its purpose, she breaks his collar that was initially used to control him, setting him free which represents the toxic relationship beint broken off while still thinking of the person bitterly when she wishes Eckles well with his new master (Leila)
Eckles as an abuser.
Now before I get accused of painting Eckles as a soft lil victim who did nothing wrong. He, like Penelope, is not a perfect victim.
Since he has no human rights, the best way for him to survive is to do what his master wants even if he hates it. Eckles has been shown to fantasize about doing the same thing to her by trapping her by bringing Leila back to the mansion (He was brainwashed but I'm pretty sure Leilas powers work best when the feelings she's looking to amplify are already there.) and betraying his own people just so he can gain a commoner status and an excuse to force Penelope by his side.
Over time, he develops hatred for Penelope alongside his obsession for her. While he is categorized as a yandere, I believe that the reason Eckles "loves" Penelope is because he really just loves the idea of hurting her the same way she hurts him. Whenever this is because he thinks that abusing each other is just a way of expressing love, or if he genuinely wants to hurt her back as a form of resentment. He too, wouldn't be entirely opposed to abusing Penelope by isolating her and forcing her to rely on him and only him, perhaps even killing her himself, thus repeating the cycle of abuse yet again.
In general, this relationship was doomed to fail no matter if it was Penelope sending Eckles back to the auction house or if Eckles succeeded in defeating Callisto, It serves as a bad ending where nobody had to be better and take responsibility for their behavior. Penelope could continue enjoying the power she has over Eckles while Eckles isolates her and becomes violent enough to keep her away from everyone else in the outside world.

There is this thing in fandom spaces I noticed where it doesn't really feel like a community anymore but more... corporate. The transformers fandom is not an exception. An artist having hurt feelings over their fanart being copied is not something that needs to be discussed under "what is legal" or not. We are not businesses trying to sue each other we are all people that like the same toy line.
As artists, the line of inspiration and plagiarism can be a fine line, however just like most things in life- Proper communication and acknowledging the humanity in each other is the proper way of dealing with issues like this. If you hurt someones feelings your first priority is making sure what that person needs to not feel hurt anymore. Not trying to damage control the situation to appease the public eye. BE CONSIDERATE OF THE PEOPLE YOU ARE SHARING A SPACE WITH.
I see people that make these fandom spaces feel weirdly cold and uncaring, So i decided to also take the time to mention and discuss my inspirations that helped me form my own voice when it comes to my transformers related art & writing- Because I think we as artist should learn on how to give back when we take inspiration:
DerrickJWyatt:
Starting off with the late Derrick- I enjoyed his unique and recognizable art style even outside of transformers, but it was Transformers Animated that became my first exposure to the franchise when I was watching cartoons- It's unique setting made me experiment with how I want my AU to feel like. I studied the concept art when I was trying to get a grasp on how I want my designs to look, which helped me create my own unique design philosophy that still feels like it is transformers while also being its own thing. His twitter is still up for those that want to see his doodles and fun ideas.
@disformer:
Incredible artist with the ability to make drawing robots look so effortless, which if you are an artist you'd understand how having the ability to make something look effortless- requires a lot of effort. The resources they posted are so incredibly helpful- This video he made saved my life when trying to draw these stupid robot ppl- recommended to anyone who hates drawing squares and is lazy <3.
@combaticon:
The- and I mean THE transformers writer. If you haven't read her work you are missing out because her writing comes from such a genuine place, where even tragedy and uncomfortable feelings are written beautifully to capture the complex and messy experience that is life. Writing that embraces queerness without sanding off the edges to make it appealing to the masses. Combaticon writes stories that can only be written at home, for you and your friends. It makes me enjoy sharing my own writing to connect with others in the same way her work spoke to me.
@drill-teeth-art:
Amazing and creative artworks that highlight body positivity not seen much in fandoms. Drill-Teeth creates Transformers designs that all look incredibly interesting, distinct and unique! Also just incredible artworks done digitally as well with a pen and paper. I have been getting into drawing more on paper myself because of the amazing work I saw drill make. (However my analog art could use some work </3)
There are more I could mention but I would probs be sitting here all day- I hope any artist who reads this decides to think about how they can give back to a community that inspired them. Peace and love everyone

The Wizard Steel
While I haven't gathered all my thoughts, I have gathered some of them. And boy do I have thoughts.
There are a couple questions that I'm trying to put together, and maybe by just putting them out into the world, y'all can help me.
What exactly does Steel know about Eioghorain and what happened with Soft and Stone? (Involved in these are me trying to piece together a timeline).
And did she know about the experimental shit that Morrow was doing?
Full explanations of where my brain is currently at under the cut.
I'm going to start with the second - Steel certainly doesn't seem like she knows what's going on with Morrow. Accom is "out in the fringes" as it were, and is connected to the Imperium, not the Citadel specifically. And that's what I had always assumed. Her surprise and outrage seemed genuine. But I will say that she said that they would "dismantle" the derrick, not destroy it. We know that she's not one to leave information on the table. She wants to study Ame's curse, she puts the Geass spell on Suvi, etc.
In the Fireside Chat for episode 47, Brennan remarks that it was important for the audience to not just see Steel as a leader, but as "a weapon" and "a special project" unto herself. He remarks, as her,"I have achieved the utmost limits.. I'm the one who signs off on the experimental spellcraft. I'm reading the finished spells. That crosses my desk for sure. Yeah, but you should also still have a sword. That's how much killing we need you to do."
And my brain went. Oh no. She must have known about Morrow then. But maybe not - he's not Citadel after all and it certainly doesn't seem that way.
To my first question - based on the information we have, here's what I know.
Suvi's parents died in 1656, which is the summer she spent at Wren's.
Steel doesn't become the Sword of the Citadel until 1664.
The campaign is currently happening in 1670.
This tells me a couple of things: 1. She didn't have her current station when all the shit went down with Eioghorain and Soft and Stone and the Acadetor. And it tells me that she didn't immediately ascend to that position upon their deaths or anything. 2. Interestingly, she hasn't held this position for very long.
Here are things I'm still curious about:
How Steel got her scars - we know that she got them that summer
How Eioghorain "betrayed" Soft and Stone. He says that he did, but not how, nor what really happened to them. Neither does Steel either - just that they were double agents.
Steel's full version of events as related to Soft and Stone. Clearly this was not a simple thing - she was left at Wren's for a full summer.
Ultimately, here's my take on the Wizard Steel, based on the little backstory we have of her.
She was taken from her family as a young girl to the Citadel based on her talents and wants nothing more than to give back to the institution that has given her everything. She was devastated when she found out that the League of Whispers was in fact, sanctioned, and not that she was saving her home. She approaches life with the things she can do for the Citadel, which Wren confirms for us - it seems her other relationships come second.
I don't think she's a villain at the end of the day. I do think she cares about people. But ultimately, I think she cares about the Citadel more. I understand why people hate her - she's our stand-in for the Citadel itself, which is not a great entity and the arm of an empire. But I appreciate that it's more complicated than that. She's just a person making her way in the world in a way that makes sense to her. And sometimes that's not great when you've been shaped by a problematic institution.
I'm really curious what her conversation is going to look like with Suvi in episode 49. Who knows, I may have to come back and make some addendums after.

I can't believe Teen Titans is officially 20 years old today. My favorite animated show and one of the best imo. It got me through a lot of shit & means the world to me
Tumblr media
Starfire- the Heart
My favorite character on Teen Titans, and still my favorite hero.
Tumblr media
A joyful person who loved the world around despite its cruelty. An immigrant who loved her culture yet always struggled w/ her sense of place and being an outsider like me. Her journey becoming more sure of herself & her place & an advocate for other outsiders like Red Star is beautiful one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cyborg- The Lynchpin
A extroverted, disabled black hero who had a deep internal struggle to accept that his disability doesn't contradict, but strengthens his humanity
Tumblr media
His main arc on what it means to be a 'man' - that he doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone but instead be sure of himself. As a black hero, his defiance being rewarded, not shamed, resulting in victory in the end is still one of my favorites TT03 arcs
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Raven- The Inspiration
When I was younger, I was embarrassed to admit how much I was like Raven bc I hated feeling like a closed-off outcast.
Tumblr media
But now understanding Raven as a closed-off person who hid her emotions in spite of how she cared (which was the most out of anyone) to protect everyone. Who constantly fought for good despite being deemed a curse bc she hoped for better- Raven is an inspiration
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her journey to accept her emotions & forge her own destiny and not give into despair is one of the best arcs in all animation
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beast Boy, the Wild Card
To be honest, I despise his immaturity when I was younger.
Tumblr media
Now I know he was just a kid trying to be happy despite his hardships (like terrible parentals & Terra).
His season of growing up, learning to let go, and building a team of underrated/inexperienced heroes like himself to defeat Brotherhood of Evil against all odds when all hope was lost was peak
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Robin- the Leader
Finally, the Boy Wonder, what else is there to say?
Tumblr media
A character so flawed, struggling w/ anger, darkness, and obsessiveness, but will go to war for his friends, & sacrifice all for those he loved.
Learning to let people in and that he can be more than hero. Best Robin adaptation we have seen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not just the core 5, but the entire Titans family was amazing. Characters who left an impact despite limited screentime. Más y Menos, Thunder and Lightning, Titans East, Speedy, Hotspot, Kole, and too many to name. With the best Bumblebee we have ever had in any media.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thank you so much to Glen Murakami, David Slack, Amy Wolfram, Sam Register, Derrick Wyatt (RIP), Scott Menville, Hynden Walch, Khary Payton, Tara Strong, Greg Cipes, and so many countless others in the cast & crew for giving this to me and so many others.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Forever grateful for the Titans' stories & memories & for Robin, Cyborg, Starfire, Raven, and Beast Boy

Ravens Sergio and Phil show up in California at the door of the sunny court. They are desperate. They don't want to end up like everyone else. They don't want to kill themselves or have to leave the exy because they lose their sanity. But they are on the edge and that is all they can do.
Only Jean is thriving. Jean and Kevin, but they don't plan to go see the Queen. About their damn corpses.
So they go looking for Jean, even if they hate him.
Emma recognizes them when the Trojans go on the court to train, and Derrick and Derek go crazy. They form a wall at the door and advance towards these outsiders very willing to drive them out.
The Ravens don't swell, though they don't look for a fight. Derek and Derrick are very irritated. Tanner is nervous, but stands by the D's side, very willing to get into the middle of a possible fight. Cody and Xavier try to control the situation, which seems to be escalating rapidly, but a hurtful comment towards Cody causes Patrick to push Sergio. Lucas yells at them to leave, angrier than anyone else. Sergio backs off for a moment, a little intimidated.
"You're Grayson's little brother," Phil says.
And Lucas screams.
"Shut up!"
Moments later comes the sound of an engine on the road. Jeremy lets go of Jean's waist, takes off his helmet and gives a voice. Everyone stops, very upset. Lucas is on top of Phil and is forcibly lifted by Xavier and Patrick. Sergio picks Phil up with a few bruises on his face. Jeremy looks at the two Ravens very seriously.
Jean takes off his helmet and gets off the bike. His eyes could freeze the same hell.
Sergio and Phil are very shocked. Jean is much larger than you remember, has a subtle tan, cheek color and a hard jaw. It is very strange to see it without bruising or injuries of any kind.
"You..." Jean says as if chewing ice.
"California doesn't feel right, Johnny," Sergio says, though he lies shamelessly.
"You haven't been Virginia since last year. What do you want? You haven't lost anything here," Jean says, wishing to settle the matter.
There is a little silence, and Jean allows himself a moment to evaluate himself. He is surprised at how calm he is, even though Sergio and Phil wear the uniform the Ravens wear when traveling between games. Jean looks at his team and realizes that Lucas is bruised. Although he knows that Sergio and Phil are not particularly violent (not by Raven's standards, that's why they've never been headlines), he worries that they're with their Trojans.
"We have to talk to you, alone," Phil says.
"You've talked enough throughout the course. I have nothing to talk to you about."
"Don't fuck me, Johnny..." Curses Sergio.
"You'll call him by name," Jeremy said. There's no sign of a smile in her voice. "If you want to talk to him, it will be if he wants to do it, but it won't be alone. We've already been through that."
"I'm not going to speak in front of a fag..." Phil begins.
Jean leans forward in a voice, but Jeremy stops him firmly. The Trojans shout. For the first time since he's there, Jean hears them curse someone.
Jeremy stands in front of Sergio and Phil with no trace of kindness or empathy. His face is carved in the hardest marble.
"I am his partner, and I will go wherever he goes," he says resolutely. "If you are here, so far from home, it is because you desperately need something from him, but that is not his problem. This is not your home. It's Jean's. This is California, this is our team, this is our court and if you don't want to abide by the conditions, I'm sure you know where the airport is."
Sergio and Phil remain silent. Jean can't help but smile slowly. When they look at him with a hint of demand, Jean shrugs.
"You have heard my captain. You will respect him and the slightest insult will never come out of your mouth to him or my team. Don't fill my damn patience. You are not in a position to demand."
Sergio buffa, mocked. Phil is the first to give in.
"You can ride a motorcycle, grow as much as you want and go to the other side of the world, but you will always lose your mind over a pretty face, Johnn... Jean."
"Do you want to talk or not?" Jean growls.
A year ago, he would have been on the verge of a panic attack over the comment. He probably would have broken Phil's teeth (and Phil knew it) to hide. A year ago, this could have had dire consequences.
Now Jean looks at Jeremy with warm cheeks, and Jeremy looks back at him with unambiguous intensity. A look that also says "I'm not going to leave you alone," even if it's completely unnecessary (Sergio and Phil could never have played it in The Nest, and now less).
Jean starts walking with Jeremy. The Ravens follow them, though they don't know who the person leading the way is.

Okay I’m ready to talk about why I think Jean won’t go pro/why I don’t want him to. Keep in mind before tgr I fully thought he would and wanted him to, even if he would still be under Ichirou’s deal, so I am by no means biased. It’s just that Nora managed to convince me in tgr.
First: why Jean won’t go pro
1. His entire character arc would be incomplete if he does
Tsc chap 15. “Jean was a Moreau. He belonged to the Moriyamas now and always. His job was to be whatever they needed him to be. For Ichirou that was a reliable source of income…”
This line and similar ones throughout the series have hammered in the point that Jean lacks self-agency. He thinks he always will have a “master” to order him around. Nora constantly reiterates this as his main conflict, so having him go pro doesn’t allow Jean to grow completely as a character. Jean has to control his own life fully.
In Neil’s case, the deal with Ichirou works because exy is a choice Neil made to rebel against his family, so it does not undermine his character arc. Jean has not made a choice in his life since he has been sold to the Moriyamas. The deal has to fall apart to allow Jean the opportunity to choose what he wants to do with his life (which is very likely not to go pro).
2. Jean sees the deal differently than Neil
tsc chap 12. “Neil thought that making connections made him safer. Jean knew he was only telling Ichirou exactly where to hit him to keep him in line. This wasn’t freedom; it was simply a very attractive cage. It should be good enough. It had to be good enough. Jean would never be free of it.”
3. Agent browning’s appearance and the very clear foreshadowing
Tgr chap 21. “It didn’t make sense. This was the kind of protection they should have forced on Neil, seeing how it was his father’s empire on trial…but Jean meant what he said: he had nothing left of value to give them. It would come back to haunt him later, but for now it offered them a way forward.”
Something is going on with the Moriyamas, and Browning for sure knows something. Nora appears to be setting the foundation for Moriyama drama to happen, which will allow for Jean to get out of the deal.
Okay now: Why I personally don’t want him to go pro
1. He doesn’t think exy is fun.
I know a lot of people think that he likes exy deep down and that he cares abt the sport.
I think a bit differently especially because of chapter 4 in tgr. Not going to quote everything but he has a conversation with Derrick where Jean says “Exy is not supposed to be fun.”
Sure we can go into semantics and be like Jean is saying it this way because he hasn’t learned to have fun playing exy, but tell me why when Derrick says he’d drop exy if it wasn’t fun Jean immediately thinks
“That violent twist in Jean’s chest might have been grief, it was just as likely to be acidic resentment ‘I will never stop playing,’ he said, and wouldn’t dwell on the I can’t that echoed like a second heartbeat against his thoughts.”
I’m sorry but him feeling sick at the thought that he “can’t stop playing” is enough of an indication that it has long stopped being fun or something he wants to do. Nora is clearly showing that he wants to stop playing, not that he wants to have a new relationship with exy. For sure Jean used to love exy, but his relationship with it is honestly too complicated imo for him to be expected to enjoy playing pro right after college. I think long term he can learn to love to play casually and after a long-deserved break away from it.
2. In fact, he doesn’t just not think it’s fun, right now he hates exy.
Jeremy says in tgr chap eight “Jean hates Exy, too.”
Jeremy knows Jean enough by this point to say this just as Jean knows Jeremy enough to know that Jeremy loves exy and doesn’t want to do law school. Actually, a huge part of both of their arcs is that they are both in denial with what they actually want to do with their lives because they are both being controlled by others.
3. Jean is chronically injured as it is and I honestly don’t even think it’s safe for him to play as a pro
This one is just my opinion and unfortunately it might be controversial, but athletes already are at a risk for long-term health complications. Jean has far passed that point, especially because of his long history of extensive physical abuse and inhumane over-exercise. This one is mainly a personal opinion, but I just don’t think it’s safe for his health to play at a pro level.
Okay so what do I actually want to happen?
I feel like there’s two routes Nora is likely to take.
1. The entire Moriyama operation goes down: for me this one isn’t ideal cause I like Ichirou. However, it is definitely probable considering it seems like the fbi is already suspicious. It may be unrealistic to have the athletes take the Moriyamas down, but it does seem like she’s setting it up for agent browning and the fbi to have a larger role.
2. Kevin and Neil stay under the deal, but Jean makes a counter deal with Ichirou to get out of his part: Jean has a lot of leverage with the information he knows about the inner workings of the mafia, so who’s to say he won’t just threaten to spill everything unless Ichirou terminates their deal. Anyways I won’t work out the particulars of this but it does seem like a plausible thing that could happen if Nora chooses not to completely overthrow the Moriyamas.
But one thing for sure is that it is very likely Jean will not be playing pro nor would I want him to. Maybe later I’ll do a more lighthearted post about him not going pro but I just wanted to get these main points off my chest.

as much as i love penelope and callisto.. i would like to play "villains are destined to die" as a game where i can go through each one of the main interests' route 😭‼️ petition for someone to turn this manhwa into a game!
i am sooo curious about derrick's real feelings towards penelope, and i am also excited about what will happen at the end if we choose winter and reynold as our main interest 😳✨

MY BYLER PROOFS/PREDICTIONS IN ST FOR SEASON 5
noah schnapp liked a lovers lake gate TikTok, we got protective Mike in s5, the duffer brothers said to watch season 2 before watching s5, Finn wolfhard said in an interview about the van scene from s4 asking what the hardest scene for him was. he said "deficiently the ones in the van. I was like 'how in the world do you not see right in front of you? how do you not notice that?[will's feelings]' I asked the duffers and they said 'don't worry, it'll pay off in the end'" - Finn wolfhard
The duffers also said that Mike and Will are a key duo this season YET DIDNT PUT ANY SCENES OF THEM IN THE TEASER FOR A REASON, Both Mike and Will's hair is wet in the st5 bts as well as the teaser, I think they might have a rain scene parallel to season 3 rain scene (maybe with a kiss hopefully I would actually die to see a rain kiss),
Both Mike and WIll are both wearing blue and yellow for as some of their outfits in scenes tgther from BTS, but they also have red in their outfits too (maybe symbolizing love? or the upside down/them both getting vecna'd??)
something I loved was in the BTS pics/vids the scene in the barn with Joyce from the teaser also had Mike in it but that wasn't in the shot but it was in BTS. SO ROBIN, WILL, MIKE, JOYCE, ERICA, and the boy (presumably derrick) ARE A GROUP???? bro I better see Robin spotting the gayness and confronting Will and Mike lmao.
-------------------------
my hopes for byler in s5
i hope they talk Abt the painting again maybe leading to a confession scene from WIll, one can only hope tho since there's no evidence yet that there is.
I totally think Will is going to see that protective side of Mike he never saw in season 1 and 2 (bc he was abducted/possesed) in season 2 He sort of saw Mike's protective side in the hospital but def not in its full.
im not totally convinced on the whole "Will has powers" theory yet but I think it is def a possibility and some scenes hint to it as well as his neck tingle sensor thing
i rlly don't think this is happening but I DO NOT want them to introduce a random gay character to be Will's love interest at the end. I dont think they would do that at all bc It was contradict his whole relationship that he's built with Mike so I doubt it but the Bychance theory HATES TO SEE ME COMING.
i don't think they will kill off Will, simply because that would take away from all his character development as a whole. like, imagine he has gone through all that from seasons 1-5 and then just fucking dies. that doesn't make sense.
anyway pls share BYLER PROOFS in the comments and theories!!!

Lots of people seem to not understand that fandom is not the entire viewing audience. Not all things are equal.
Q. I don't understand how Lab Rats could have done so well. The audience hated it. All anyone did was complain about it.
A. No fandom hated it. It was not a well conceived episode. There were too many nonsensical plot holes and it did not make any sense at this point in the season, but it was a gimmick episode and gimmick episodes attract viewers that's why shows do them. And people have to learn that not everyone who watches this show watches it through the prism of fandom. There are casual viewers. People who know the characters, and their history, and love them but only for one hour a week while watching the show. That's why all the 'he just got his own show cancelled' takes were ridiculous and wrong. Casual viewers follow the storylines as they come. They don't spend weeks speculating, raging, and dooming about what's coming or what just happened. Shows kill off characters. It happens. The audience has their moment of grief and then most of them move on as the show does. It happens all the time. None of what Tim is doing here is groundbreaking. He killed a main and got the attention he wanted. When that same main miraculously turns up alive he will get the attention he wanted again. That's the gimmick. Every show does it in one way or another. Most of the time the character really ends up being dead. Occasionally they don't. And most viewers go along with whatever way the storyline goes. That's television.
What upsets a fandom doesn't always upset the general audience. We discovered that the anger over Eddie's absence was audience wide. Everyone was upset about his absence. As they should have been because it was inexcusable. The only group who wasn't upset about Eddie not being there doesn't count because they don't watch or pay attention to the actual details of the show, so their opinion is completely invalid in all aspects of the actual show (send all the complaining that you want, your opinion is meaningless because you don't even understand what it is you're actually watching). The Bobby stuff seems to have intrigued the general audience though because it was unexpected for this show. I also think lots of people believe something is up though and re-watched the episode to see if their 'theory' is plausible. You could not pay me to rewatch that episode personally, but I'm not going to tell anyone else that they shouldn't. But people who exist within the bubble of fandom are not the best judge of what the actual opinion of the average viewer is that's why immediately jumping to 'Tim is sabotaging his own show', 'he just ruined everything', and 'no one will watch ever again' takes were so bizarre because those things simply aren't true. Yes if Bobby ends up really being dead (he's not) then the show would lose some viewers but not to the level fandom acted like. Grey's Anatomy killed off Derrick Shepard. E.R. killed off Mark Green. House killed off Lawrence Kutne. This is Us killed off Jack Pearson (this one is a bit different). All of those characters were major characters on their respective shows. And every single one of those shows survived the character's death. It happens. Period. The audience adapts. We all have individual things that would cause us to walk away so if Bobby dying (again he's probably not really dead though) is your breaking point that is absolutely your right, but it will not be the cumulative reaction for the audience as a whole. No one really wants him dead. The show would be different without him, and truthfully Tim is not the show runner who kills characters for kicks so that works in our favor here. But we as fandom will never be able to speak for the general audience and I think sometimes people mistakenly believe everyone consumes the show the same way we do and that's just not true. I have no idea how to be a casual viewer here, lol.
Thank you Nonny!
Yeah, I have to agree with Ali here.
Lab Rats was not a good episode. Safe to say I won't ever watch it again unless it is absolutely necessary. However, for the casual viewer this was an exciting twist they didn't see coming. People are intrigued and they want to know what will happen next with all the other characters as well. They'll tune in to see how everyone deals with the grief and pain of losing one of their own.
And to be fair, so will I and many other people in this fandom. I might have hated the episode because of the whole Bobby thing and the complete lack of Eddie, but that doesn't mean the show ends here. It will go on, whether Bobby is there or not and I'll be sat again, watching every week, grieving and moving on with my favourite characters.
There are still so many untold stories there. So much untapped potential.
But yeah... I'm still fully convinced that Bobby is alive. That would be an ever bigger twist and the GA will eat it up. No doubt about it.
But still... just in case: 🤞🤞🤞
😂

Hey!! I've been loving your derrick eckart posts and the one where derrick exaggerates Penelope's mistakes. I didn't read the novel so I totally didn't know that was a thing😅😭
But why do you think they didn't mention that details in the manhwa? And how often do you think Derrick blamed Penelope for her mistakes. Did he do it to make others hate her to make her miserable and drive her out of the house or to make her dependent on him in some twisted way?
And what do you think about Derrick being in 'love' with Penelope. Anyway love your posts
Frankly, manhwas not having much details compared to its novel ver. is common, and the reason for that is the SAME as why animes usually fall short compared to their manga counterpart:
Time and budget.
Being 100% true to the source material when you are trying to make it come to life is NOT easy, ESPECIALLY when there are deadlines to meet with satisfactory results.
For example, compare this scene from the manhwa ver. to the novel ver.:
Tumblr media
Now, the novel:
Tumblr media
Both led to the same outcome, with Siyeon getting access after showing that she was part of the Eckarts.
But there is a point here that wasn't shown in the manhwa, and that would be about how the duke is a VIP in the BLACK MARKET who would BUY SLAVES occasionally, as well as how Siyeon doesn't like it.
However, we're talking about time and budget here, and there is NO DOUBT that drawing the ENTIRE narrative would take MUCH MORE time AND budget, as then the artist would NOT ONLY have to dedicate a panel that showed the duke buying slaves and Siyeon being uncomfortable at the thought, but then they'd ALSO have to retain it in their character for the rest of the story, otherwise it will look like it was forgotten about despite being brought up.
THAT is why it was cut out.
While details like these are important in FLESHING OUT the characters, they AREN'T essential to the MAIN story, since - as we can see here - the RESULT of Siyeon's progress (she got into the auction house) was fine even without it.
That is why their characters are reduced to their 'main' personality, or the developments (from the romance, to worldbuilding, etc.) are rushed compared to the novel. Since, rather than to consistently treat them as fully-fledged characters, it would be easier to just treat them as plot devices and ONLY save the truly important scenes in, such as the attic scene with Reynold (which was so important to the plot that barely any detail was changed from it).
When you think of it like that, it makes sense why Siyeon's more sympathetic and emotional aspects aren't going to be shown UNLESS it serves the MAIN plot, presenting her to be more logical in order to avoid needing to draw more scenes that overall won't contribute too much.
Simply put, in this 'dish', while the sides put more flavor and depth into the taste, they aren't 'needed' in the main course, and since the chefs don't have the budget to prepare them, they just make do with the time they were given.
---
As for how often I think Derrick blamed Penelope for her mistakes, I think he did it THROUGHOUT their time together, much like Reynold's case. Both of them were clearly hostile to her ESPECIALLY when the duke ISN'T around.
Tumblr media
For WHY he blames Penelope, it's because his low opinion of her makes him genuinely believe she is guilty.
Penelope had a "wicked behavior and terrible manners" and spends a lot of the money he (and Reynold) thinks she had "NO RIGHT to spend so lavishly." And so he thinks so LOWLY of her.
The entire REASON why Derrick is SOFTER to Siyeon compared to Penelope is because Siyeon was acting like a civilized person, instead.
Tumblr media
Also keep in mind that while he knew he doesn't like it when she refers to him as 'brother', he didn't even know WHY that is.
Derrick doesn't shift blame to Penelope with the intention to make others hate her or make her miserable. He doesn't think of things from Penelope's perspective, only about what the CONSEQUENCES of her actions on the Duchy are.
When he DOES belittle Penelope, it can either be to protect the Eckart name's reputation, or to vent out his frustrations about her.
It's NOT about "making her suffer for being a shameless replacement," like Reynold's intentions are, he's too prideful to ever stoop to being so 'childish.'
As for if Derrick belittled Penelope for the 'purpose' of making her dependent on him, that COULD be part of the reason, but it's more likely he did it for DAMAGE CONTROL; to be able to control how the narrative goes and make it easier to clean up another 'stain' on his house.
Derrick was RAISED to be the next Duke, and so the damage to Penelope's reputation automatically goes to the very duchy. He couldn’t have 'wanted' Penelope to be hated, since if that happens, then the Eckart duchy would be damaged along with her.
It was just like in the court trial.
Tumblr media
What he wanted most WASN'T to disgrace her, rather, to just get through it as fast as possible.
The reason he didn't listen to Siyeon's accounts was because it was the "best and most efficient way," to protect his house, which, while she IS part of (hence, making her part of who he has a duty to protect), that DOESN'T mean he'll put her OVER the duchy.
After all, he scolds EVEN Reynold and the Duke, putting the Eckart name over them. It's not JUST Penelope that he prioritizes the family reputation over.
He's not like Reynold who goes out his way to bully Penelope in a "Serves you right for trying to steal my sister's place, bitch," manner. Derrick addressing Penelope is more of a "I don't hate you, but the House of Eckart comes first. Stay in that cell until I fix this and don't cause more trouble until I bail you out."
I CANNOT stress enough just how many people mischaracterized him on this part. He is NOT sadistic like Callisto, people!
Like yall, I don't like him either, but if you're gonna hate, can't you do it ACCURATELY instead of PROJECTING your own "bad guy" idea onto him?? If there was ANYONE among them who ACTIVELY antagonized Penelope, it was REYNOLD.
But at the same time, BOTH of them are highly loyal to their family name, and are capable of genuine care (I'm looking at you, cringy-ass gachatubers that swap their personalities to make Reynold the passive one while Derrick is the childish one when it comes to Penelope).
In conclusion, while Derrick wants Penelope to depend on him, that's NOT his reason for belittling her. He just thinks it's 'REASONABLE' to compromise things to protect the Eckart reputation, and THAT is his justification for not defending either Siyeon in the trial, and Penelope in all previous incidents.
He genuinely believed it was the best option for his house.
---
On another note, I DO think ALL of the Eckarts wanted Penelope to be dependent on them, NEVER allowing her to leave on her own, NOR allow her an allowance despite agreeing to buying her extravagant things (even if they don't like it).
While none of the Eckarts cared enough about Penelope, they still DIDN'T want her to leave.
After all, while it IS true that she spends a lot, what difference will there be if she spends it by herself versus if she gets permission to have it bought FOR her?
The difference is that they'll KNOW and be able to STOP her if they wanted.
NONE of the Eckarts (before Yvonne returned) wanted Penelope to ACTUALLY leave. The duke literally BUILT HIGHER WALLS when she tried to sneak out before.
Tumblr media
At first, I thought it was for safety purposes, but no, they just didn't want her to leave.
Tumblr media
Penelope is always kept in the manor and only allowed to go to events that she was explicitly invited to.
It wasn't even Siyeon asking for money that triggered them. They only got outraged AFTER they get the impression that Penelope was planning on 'LEAVING'.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While none of the Eckarts cared enough about Penelope to see how she's doing, or give her proper care, ALL three of the Duke, Derrick, and Reynold WANTED Penelope to remain DEPENDENT on them.
Because they don't want her to leave.
And regardless of whether Derrick's 'love' for Penelope is true or not (or if it was EVEN Penelope he 'loved,' seeing as he treated only Siyeon better), one thing for sure is that he WASN'T consciously aware of it when it was Penelope.
Tumblr media
I think of it in a similar way as to how the affection scores work and hint at. Just as how the 5 target leads or literally everyone ONLY liked her when she was Siyeon, it's because WHO they like is Siyeon, NOT Penelope.
Callisto loves Siyeon, not Penelope. Vinter loves Siyeon, not Penelope, Eckles loves Siyeon, not Penelope, and so on.
As nice of a thought as it is that Siyeon's husband would love her even when she was FULLY Penelope, that just ISN'T true; because the traits he loved about her was Siyeon's.
(I reached the 10 pic limit, damn you Tumblr.) Here's the specific parts I meant in chapter 134:
[In the beginning, it had been nothing but a passing amusement to Callisto. He’d found it amusing, the way Lady Penelope had lied through her teeth and did her best to keep the obvious deception alive.
He’d looked forward to seeing her, wondering what clever little pretense she would think of next, and it had made his horrible existence in the capital mildly bearable. His amused interest in her had not waned even after the hunting tournament. If anything, his curiosity regarding the girl who seemed to shudder at the mere sight of him had only increased.
When Penelope had appeared caked in makeup and put on her silly little act, one he would have been able to see through from a mile away, he’d even thought her cute. He’d believed the rumors at first and expected that she was just an arrogant commoner who’d been lucky enough to be adopted by the duke, but now he couldn’t seem to forget about the way her tiny lips timidly talked back to him every time they met. And that had led him to act impulsively…]
I brought this up because it HAS to be made clear that Siyeon's very CHARACTER is the REASON why 'Penelope' was 'loved' by the end of the story.
We ALL know Penelope would NOT have acted as 'cutely' as Callisto thought Siyeon did. She would have acted EXACTLY like the "arrogant commoner that was just lucky enough to be adopted by the duke," he believed her as, and he wouldn't even be able to force her to spend time with him like he did to Siyeon because Penelope would NOT have cared about keeping up appearances and following etiquette.
Callisto wouldn't have liked Penelope because she wouldn't have been 'interesting' and 'amusing' to him like Siyeon was, and given how Penelope grew up, she WOULDN'T have liked Callisto, as well, because the way he thought lowly of her was EXACTLY the same as how everyone around her treated her.
And just as Callisto wouldn't have liked Penelope if she didn't act like Siyeon, this sentiment would have applied to EVERYONE else, INCLUDING Derrick who ONLY started treating her well AFTER Siyeon transmigrated to her body.
Yes, the Eckarts might have 'cared' about Penelope, to an extent, but NONE of them GENUINELY and wholeheartedly loved Penelope. Not like they did Siyeon. Because it was ONLY Siyeon they TRULY loved.
Just like in Callisto's case, if we were to believe that Derrick ACTUALLY loves her, he would ONLY 'love,' Siyeon, as well. At best, he subconsciously saw Penelope as a woman and part of the Eckhart House, but he NEVER liked her as much nor treated her as well as how he did to Siyeon.

Bruce: *sees a motorcade come up on his right* *ignores*
Timmy in the back eying the group suspiciously: ….
*tapping on glass*
Dick: B, there’s someone tapping on my side.
Bruce: Don’t roll the window down they could be-
Dick: *already rolling the window down* *GASP* ROMMEY?! ROMMEY! ROMMEY!!
A 45 yr old grizzled man with a smoker’s voice, nicknamed Rommey by Dick: heya Dickie, how it’s going kiddo.
Dick: ROMMEY IM SO EXCITED TO SEE YOU AGAIN!
Another motorbiker with a full claw scar down his face: what about the rest of us, kid? Forget about us?
Dick: MANES! DERRICKA! IZZY!!
Derrick-I take down mercenaries for fun but let a kid I like call me DERRICKA-Rolan: You little shit, why’d we not hear from you after you fucked off to neverland huh?!
Isabella-what? Someone went missing? I had nothing to do with it, it’s total coincidence that I hated him-Hodges: Maybe he doesn’t like us, Der. That right, Dickie?
Dick: *flabbergasted* No!! It’s a long story! After I left I ran out of gas and then some girl crashed into my bike and sent it flying off the cliff but I dove off it first and then I had to walk to the nearest motel on bare feet because I gave her my shoes and then I met this half bear half man and I’ll be pleased to tell you that it was a beary bearable encounter once he got his bearings hahahahaha- *progressively climbing out of the car as the story goes on*
Bruce: Dick! Get back in the car! *having one hand on the steering wheel and grabbing the back of his shirt with the other to keep his wayward son from falling out*
Dick: Wait- *accidently twisting too far and nearly braining himself on the speeding asphalt*
Rommey: DICK!
Bruce: DICK!
Rommey, Derricka, Izzy, and Manes: *grabbing the front half to prevent Dick from becoming like two-face*
Bruce: *letting go of the wheel to grab Dick’s bottom half for the same reason*
Tim: *high pitched screaming from the back* DICK! Tₕₑ Wₕₑₑₗ! ₜₕₑ Wₕₑₑₗ!!!
Bruce: *struggling to pull his son in while the motorcade struggles to pull him out to sit on a bike thus leading to Dick hanging in limbo out the window of a car going 80mph on a freeway* GRAB THE WHEEL TIM
Tim: *sacrificing a few ribs on the edge of the front car seat* IM TRYING! I CANT REACH THE CRUISE CONTROL AND DONT LEAN BACK AND OH MY GOD SIGN POST! SIGN POST! THE POST! THE POSSSTTTTT!!!
Dick, Bruce, Tim, and motorcade: *furious screaming and shouting and panicking*
*2 hours later*
*Arriving at the manor*
Jason: damn what happened to you lot, you look like you went through hell and back.
Bruce and Tim: *drained, pale-faced, messy, sweating, and heaving*
Dick: *a curl of hair falling elegantly into his shining eyes* I just had the time of my life, Jay!
Jason who is well acquainted with Dick’s “Time of the life”s: ah. My condolences.
Tim: Never again. *flopping on the ground and cater-pilling his way up the stairs*
Damian: Father, this is such disgraceful attire! Fix yourself at once, mother would be embarrassed by such a visage! What in holy reincarnation have you been doing?!
Bruce: Never again, Dick.
Dick: it’s nothing Dami, they were just helping me.
Damian: Father, I am ashamed of you. Why must you devolve to such a state when you assist Grayson, he is perfectly capable of extraordinary feats without your input. I suggest you refrain from interfering with his success again.
Bruce:
Bruce: Damian, you-
Dick: Bruce. *smiling pleasantly*
Jason: *immediately sneaking off*
Bruce’s life momentarily flashing before his eyes: …..nothing. Go finish your homework. *trudging off to whine to Alfred about how no one’s gonna believe him*
Dick: *sincerely* what a great day! 😊

Some Positivity
it's not all sunshine and rainbows, obviously, but there IS an upside. and there IS reason to believe he can achieve at least something close to his ceiling with us.
okay. here's a bunch of tweets lol. then i'm going to attempt to make sense of them.
(i'm avoiding joe g and jake's tweets right now because they are hard core stats/data guys and obviously the stats and data don't look great. but even joe admitted he doesn't think this was a 'set a pick on fire' type thing. it's just very high risk, but also high reward. but if you look at the guys who do a lot of x's and o's analysis of the game, who put the stats in context, you can see some better reasoning for everything.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
starting here with max's tweets. two years ago, not at all coincidentally to when sam started to fall off a cliff, our run defense started to decline RAPIDLY. and this past year, as many awful things as you could say about our run defense, numbers DID improve (yeah there were missed tackles in the secondary. but if you look at the stats, our tackling was actually around average?? it's just our misses happened at the WORST times lol)
but why did our run defense numbers improve when our talent certainly didn't?? because we were focusing almost entirely on stopping the run, at the expense of the pass. if you look at our numbers against derrick henry for instance, we were one of the better teams at stoping him. but in order to do things like that, we used ALL of our resources. "loading the box" etc etc, aka bring all our guys up to stop the run, and leaving pretty much no help for our secondary, which, as max says, KILLS you in the pass game. but it was our only choice, we didn't have anyone talented in our run game (sam declining, dj reader leaving) so it's what we had to do. and it's what went wrong in both of our games against the ravens. (i'm forever haunted by that play where lamar knocks sam down TWICE and then scores oh my god.)
one thing we did do in free agency was pick up a true nose tackle in TJ Slaton. losing DJ the year before was devastating and our young guys did not step up (and honestly weren't true NTs anyway). TJ is a true big guy run stuffer, and he'll take over the job of both jenkins and jackson struggling to stop the run in the center, allowing them to do other things like stop the run in other places/rush the guards/maybe even get after the passer a bit.
and we also got rid of sam (rip. i still love you. but it was for the best. enjoy your marriage to a plumbing heiress ✨). when sam was at his best, he was an edge setting contain guy. he DID get some sacks, but his production was never anywhere close to trey's. his job was to stop the QB from running out of the pocket, aka "contain" the edge. and he just couldn't do it anymore. it's clear that the coaches now see shemar as that dude (and maybe myles still. we'll see). PLUS shemar can also apparently kick inside at times, so that's where we could see some interior pressure (i also just learned ossai can also do this. so that's nice!) and if he does pan out, his traits are wayyyy better than sam, so he could honestly be Sam Hubbard+
Tumblr media Tumblr media
now we get to mike sans here, who is THE trenches guy on twitter. i definitely trust his opinion in these kind of things. obviously the lack of production is concerning, but mike thinks that it can at least partly be explained by the scheme/coaching at A&M. his point that nolen (rip. i'll always love you and hate the cardinals now) himself also didn't produce as much when in the same system is something i found pretty compelling.
at A&M, shemar was lined up in such a way that he got most of the double teams (this aligns with what al golden said last night, that when he was coaching at notre dame, his offense was most scared of shemar/they were 'always bitching' about him lol).
pass rush stats are apparently complicated (as all stats are i guess when you look further into them) and according to sans, shemar wasn't given a lot of opportunity to use a lot of his talents. and apparently the coaching staff there doesn't spend much time teaching how to actually rush the passer?? 🤔
now obviously he still could have had a better run defense game, as sans also admits, but he still attributes a lot of that to the system there. obviously our coaching staff must have a plan for shemar in our system that will benefit him the most (you'd hope! at least!)
Tumblr media
finally this quote from the post-draft interview last night (where he did come off very likable and sweet)
shemar knows that he didn't finish a lot of the time. he knows where he needs to improve. and he knows he needs to follow trey around like a baby duckling (so you know, like others have said, it's important trey is actually there for training camp!!)
by all accounts he's a high character guy (and again. let's all be grateful they didn't draft mike green. no one did, hilariously.) he's smart, always puts in the effort, and is willing to learn. and he has all the traits to get there. our coaching staff just needs to find a way to get through to him to take him all the way. obviously that's not something lou and the former d-line coach could do (see myles murphy) but! maybe this one staff is the key. obviously they were chosen for their abilities to develop. let's hope they actually can.
