BAD TOKENS is a fantastical project consisting of multiple creative works and stories, told through various artistic mediums: writing -> prose = books (the Standalone Tetralogy, B.T's 1st story); visual art -> webcomics (a Tetralogy's Volume's Spinoff Prequels: H.D + AE) & a print comic (another new B.T story); video/physical game -> (battle) card game (the GFUG story, B.T's 2nd story) ; audio-visual -> musical (some other new B.T story); streaming -> vtubing /larping (the final B.T story). Huge project.

Uhm... anyone interested in this silly little thing?

"Hear ye'! Hear ye'! A number of flawed individuals possess tools with dangerous power - and mysterious, godlike beings want to erase them for it. Is it because those beings sense corpses in these individuals' stead?" (A pitch for ya', dear folks).

I thought a community would be a good spot to have all stuff related to B\T (WIPs) in one place.

I’ll ask about your wip “My attempt at restructuring how time (dates wise) is set up in MHA”

I find the chronology of MHA kind of difficult, like I _think_ I get it but I’d love to hear your take/fix!

This is one of my older WIPs that I haven't worked on in a long while, but here's what I have written down so far! I'm thinking I'll update it eventually (⁠^⁠～⁠^⁠;⁠)⁠ゞ

So in the MHA world, at one point in history quirks didn't exist. I remember Inko saying something about how she was the 4th generation, early on in the show when Deku was getting diagnosed quirkless. That got me thinking a little

So, Deku would be the 5th generation? That would mean 5 generations have passed after the introduction of quirks, and that would also mean that they were keeping track of this enough to the point where Inko had to tell Deku's doctor

Even though the MHA world is very similar to ours, it's still in the way future. I feel that they would have something similar to how we have B.C, if that makes sense?

The emergence of quirks was such a massively important event that impacted the entire world. I remember Deku saying something to the effect of "It's said that if quirks never appeared, then humanity would be exploring the stars right now".

So, I would like to think that they'd have some different way of structuring time that separates the "Before Quirks" world and the "New Era", when quirks appeared and inevitably became a key aspect of society as we know it

So just like how we have B.C - when they study the world they have to see whether the time period is before quirks (B.Q) or after (N.E). Some people call the New Era the After Quirk (AQ) Era but it's a regional thing

I want to know so much! I want to know about what each generation was like and how they had to deal with the collapse of society! I want to know about how quirks evolved over time! What ways did quirks affect society? When did they start restructuring things for certain quirks (think of the big class 1-A door, or clothes for people like Hawks and Ojiro)? How long did it take for people to treat heteromorphs as normal members of society? Were there and tyrannical leaders/dictators that pushed the notion that "quirks are a disease"? I feel at the beginning stages they'd at least try to wipe out who had quirks since it was such a small amount. How did each country treat the emergence of quirks? Are there countries out there that still live in B.Q societies? I have so many questions! I want to write and build so much! That small glimpse of AFO and his backstory wasn't enough!

How long were people quietly covering up that something was wrong? That their kid looked a little off? That it didn't seem normal for their aunt to be able to look at lights only for them to turn on when she did? How long was the government possibly covering up those found with more direct quirks? As quirks were a thing that threatened every single notion/idea/belief that society has held on to before they showed up - what do you think would happen if you were at a restaurant and someone started to breath fire? Scary, yes? That's what it was probably like for them

I'm going to assume that it got so prevalent that it started to get harder and harder to cover up, leading up to the birth of the Glowing Baby. Were they going to try to cover it up and were too slow before the right person got ahold of the info and spread it? Was it better to have this baby be an introduction to quirks since he didn't have a "scary" quirk? I feel it'd be a lot harder to keep people from panicking if quirks were announced by a guy running onto the train and shooting lasers from his eyes at everyone

Ok ok, enough about that

I feel that once quirks are introduced to the story, people obviously wouldn't accept them. Due to the Quirk Doomsday Theory, I'm going to assume they were much weaker at the time as well. Either way, people would want them gone. It's scary! I don't like that my friend can phase through things, or that my sibling can jump 10 feet in the air, or that sparks shoot from my neighbors mouth, or that I can suddenly see through walls! That's not normal! No, it would be chaos

Would a civil war start? Would those with quirks, as small a group as they are, be seen as "infected" or "sick"? Science experiments gone wrong? Aliens from another planet? They would have targets on their head.

As a country (also the world in this case) falls apart, it'll get difficult to keep track of certain events with crystal clear accuracy. I have no idea why they chose generations to keep track of, maybe it got so bad that that was the only way they could track the time periods.

Now forgive me, I'm going to be so incredibly incorrect with my time restructuring that you don't need to correct me, I already know I've made a ton of mistakes - this was made a long while ago and I need to update it, until then I'll share what I have (⁠^⁠^⁠;)

A generation is typically 20 years.

I've restructured it to be a lifetime, so about 100 years, for measurements sake here. I've incorporated the fact that they keep track of each generation into the new date format as well

G = Generation (what generation is it right now? In the series, it's generation 5)

Y = Year (How far are we into the current generation? At 100 the year turns back to 1 and the generation number goes up one)

C = Cycle (fancy word for month. Cycle of the moon. What month, out of 12, is it? I was playing around here ok?)

D = Day (Day of the month, 1-30/31)

Here's an example:

→ G5/Y12/C7/D15

- We're in the 5th generation / it's been 12 years since the 5th generation started (so it's young) / the cycle (AKA month) is 7, so it's July / The day is 15

- It's July 15, 12 years into generation 5 (Deku's birthday)

I'm sure there's a better way to structure this date, but this is what I had at the time (⁠；⁠^⁠ω⁠^)

It's similar in a way to how people measured generations in "scores"

Remember Lincoln saying "4 score and 7 years ago"?

That's 4 generations (20 years) with an extra 7 years → 4 (x20) + 7 = 87

In my head, the emergence of quirks have always been something way in the past. But if you were to count it, it barely wouldn't been 100 years before Deku was born. That means that there could very well be people who knew what the world was like before quirks came around

I personally don't like that, as there's no way a society (entire world!) can completely collapse and come back even better in 100ish years. It very well could! But I like to think of quirks appearing at least a couple hundred years in the past. Like, at least 200-300. Do you think if someone next to you grew wings right now that you'd be perfectly fine with it? How about your family? Neighbors? Employers? Etc etc. Goodness knows how much a role the government played in it as well

Now for B.Q - I don't have the specifics down, but for right now let's say quirks came around 300 years ago. Now let's say you're doing a project about something that takes places 500 years ago. You'd have to put BQ200, since it passes through into the period of time before quirks took place

I also like to think about holidays. If they value counting the generations so much, then there has to be at least 1 important feat that each generation has accomplished, right? Here's my guesses;

Hero's Rise: Referring to the period in which the first generation of heroes emerged and established themselves.

Dawnlight: Symbolizing the hope and new beginnings brought by the second generation.

Quirkfest: Celebrating the diversity and prevalence of quirks in the third generation.

Unity: Signifying the collective efforts and collaboration among heroes in the fourth generation.

Legacy: Highlighting the lasting impact and influence of previous generations in the fifth generation.

I don't seem to have written down when these could be celebrated. I would also think the changing into a new generation would bring A MASSIVE celebration as well ⁠(⁠￣⁠︶⁠￣⁠) Maybe when it changes into a new generation, the old one gets it's handle (feat) its last night, like a New Year's Eve celebration?

Ahh, I wish I had more but that's all I had in my notes! Maybe I ought to think more about splitting each generation and what holidays and such could be made ʕ⁠ ⁠º⁠ ⁠ᴥ⁠ ⁠º⁠ʔ

Sorry this was so long! I'm just really happy to have it out of my system! I know I made a ton of mistakes with incorrect stuff because I didn't bother fact checking today since I'm tired, I hope you can forgive me (⁠T⁠^T⁠)

Where’s your daddy? (Metalocalypse Fankids)

Here they are! It maybe an unfinished wip, but I still wanted to show them off. :> Bios under the cut.

Razor and Raven Urrutia (Age 15, she/her [Raven] he/him and They/them [Razor], 🇵🇭/🇺🇸): Twins of the infamous William Murderface, Razor and Raven were a result of In Vitro Fertilization using some of Murderface’s donated sperm. They never knew about their real father until Raven started getting into metal. Like her father, Raven is brash and obnoxious. Being the oldest twin, she’s a lot more impulsive and has gotten into a fair amount of fist fights at school. She got into metalcore and alternative music then into death metal proper soon after. Though people see her as more of a poser than a true metalhead. She doesn’t play an instrument. Razor on the other hand is much more soft spoken, he barely peeps a word if anything. The few traits he retains from his father is slight body dysmorphia (more specifically the shape of his eyes), a love of world history, and an interest in music production. Razor’s personal favorite instrument to play is guitar, they own a dark blue B.C. Rich Warlock electric guitar. Unlike his sister, their taste in music leans more towards screamo and punk music. They have yet to meet their birth father, but would one day want to meet him. (Raven’s favorite Dethklok song is “Go forth and Die” and Razor’s fave is “DEAD FACE”)

Hanabi Nakahara (Age 22, she/her, 🇯🇵): The bastard daughter of Nathan Explosion, she was the result of a night of passion with a hostess during a frienderbender trip to Japan. Throughout her schooling years; her peers had made fun of her height, low sounding voice, and her bastard half american origins. Though to the very few friends she has had, she’s seen as a very strong older sister type. Loyal to her core, Hanabi has gotten into very loud screaming matches and surprisingly has never thrown a single punch. Her mother had told her the truth of who her birth father was when she left for America for a college semester abroad. She has begun studying music theory and has a natural gift for writing lyrics. She is influenced by Dethklok (her favorite song is “The Galaxy”) but also visual kei bands. Hanabi plays synth piano and is an aspiring vocalist, she also has a small channel where she covers songs as an Utaite. Hanabi did get the chance to meet Nathan the day before she had to leave back to Japan. They have a nice relationship with each other, Nathan is very supportive and has even gone as far as to following her online channel. He still doesn’t know half the words she’s singing, he’s trying to learn more japanese.

Klemins Gudsdótter (Age 19, They/them and he/him 🇮🇸) : During their schooling years, Klemins was always seen as “the prettiest person in the history of forever”. It’s no surprise because Klemins is a Skwigelf kid, inheriting his father’s good looks. Even with strawberry blonde hair, the resemblance is very uncanny. Learning that they’re the result of their mother making some poor choices in her youth with the Dethklok guitarist, Klemins has come to resent their birth father. They learned to play guitar purely out of spite, they want to one day meet their father and kick his ass in a guitar battle. They own a crimson blood red Ibanez Iceman electric guitar. Outside of their spite, Klemins is a surprisingly sociable and outgoing individual, always up to go to parties or just hanging out. 9 times out of 10 they’re usually tricked into dates because of how handsome they look. So they have a hard time keeping and making real friends. Their favorite genres of music include Folk metal and general Folk Music. In secret they actually like Dethklok but they won’t fully admit it out loud. (Their favorite Dethklok song is “The Hammer”)

In the B\T Tetralogy WIP they have a "name". I call them The Four. But really they represent/embody literally four types of what the theme will be. Basically the antagonists/villains of this standalone series will cause these things.

The Four are the following (nicknames):

Double O. - the He

IRIS - The Shape-Shifter

TFWGF - The Giant

B.C - the She

Time is running out. Both in the Summerfest, and for our characters.

There's a threat. There's a time limit. There's mounting tension.

I’d Do Anything B.C 10

Hi I’ve been working on this chapter since I adopted Hestia back in like August but work and life and shit has happened. I was going to work on one of my other WIPs but decided to actually finish this one. So...here it is.

Calum was spending the afternoon with Michael, having finished up with his work early for once. Before leaving for his friend’s house he had made a good night call to Lily and Ashton, his two partners back in Australia working on a new deal. Calum was supposed to fly out and meet them in a few days-he had just had a few things he needed to wrap up at the office this week before he could join them. He was stressed and worn thin from his projects he’d been working on, as well as the interruptions from their employees-some with reasonable questions and requests-but others just adding to his to-do list. He did his best to push all of that down while he was on the call though, listening to and celebrating their little successes for the day and trying his best to pick out some sort of positive aspect to his day to share. He managed to pick something since they had last called, as well as expanded upon a few of their text conversations over the last couple days. He finally wrapped up their call, ushering his partners off to bed and telling them his plans to meet up with Michael and play a new game.

However, when he got to his friend’s house, it turned out his plan had done a complete 180, from sitting inside on the couch with controllers in hand to walking in the park and talking. Calum ended up doing most of the talking, everything spilling out the second Michael asked about his week. Michael listened intently, his gaze only straying from Calum to check his footing on the path. 

Calum sighed, closing, “And I don’t want to burden Ash and Lil with this when they call. Like, it’s all part of running a company right? Like, especially since they’re having all these little wins and doing some fun stuff out there. Meanwhile I feel like I’m over here taking one step forward and three steps back with all these little side tasks. It’s just easier when they’re here because we can split them up-Lily’s especially good at figuring out where each of us is in our day and which of us, if any of us, is able to carry out that task. And it’s not like I don’t do that, like some of the things I’m like ‘maybe Ashley or Jaime are better people for this particular thing’ and either message them or send that person their way. But at the same time, I don’t want the people who have come to me to feel like I’m dismissing them or pawning the task off to someone else, but like…I’m just one person, y’know?”

Michael nodded, “You know, I’m always here to listen, but Lil and Ash worry about you when they’re away too and can tell when you’re holding stuff like this back.”

Calum hummed, “Yeah, but I don’t want them to feel bad about it or for me or whatever. Like, it’s not their fault that I got this idea for something that, as usual, ended up much larger than I expected and…wait, what made you say that last part?”

“Shit…I uh…fuck…”

“Mikey?”

Michael looked away, scuffing his shoe on the ground, “Lily may have texted me after you guys got off of the phone and mentioned that you seemed off and that she was worried, got the same text from Ashton like two seconds later.”

Michael jumped as Calum let out a laugh. “Can never hide anything from those two, even on the other side of the fucking ocean. To be fair I do feel a lot better now, maybe better than I would’ve just playing that game with you, even if I was really looking forward to it.”

“There’s still plenty of time in the day if we turn back now…” Michael said with a smirk.

Calum nodded, turning around on the path and beginning the trek back to Michael’s car.

As they were walking through the parking lot, a flash of movement between cars caught Calum’s attention. Then it came again, this time rushing across the section of the parking lot they were walking through, from one side to the other. “Kitten,” Calum gasped, just as the animal ran under a car that three people had just gotten into-its engine roaring to life.

Michael gasped too, both men rushing over to the car, trying to get the driver’s attention before they put the car in gear. They must’ve made quite the scene, the woman in the driver’s seat opening her window just a crack to see what the two large men wanted. “A kitten just ran under your car,” Michael explained, trying to catch his breath while Calum ducked under the car’s rear bumper to see where the kitten had gone. It froze and locked eyes with him, in the shadow of one of the front tires.

He started calling to the kitten, tapping at the gravel with his fingers to try and coax it over. Just as he began calling to the little cat, the car’s engine shut off and multiple feet hit the ground around the car. The kitten looked up at the car’s chassis, then around at all the legs surrounding the car before darting towards Calum. He took the kitten in his arms, capturing her and making sure he had a good grip before slowly beginning to wiggle back out from under the car. “Got it,” he grunted as he slowly began to sit up, handing the kitten to Michael so he could get to his feet. All three people from the car began to coo and cheer as they looked at the small animal in Michael’s arms while Calum dusted himself off.

“What now?” Michael questioned, looking at Calum.

“I…I don’t know,” Calum said, watching as the kitten squirmed in Michael’s hold. “I mean, I guess we go to the shelter, make sure she doesn’t belong to anyone?”

“We’re in the middle of a giant park, Cal…” Michael started.

“I know…but I mean, what else? Isn’t that what’s right?”

Michael hummed, conceding, and began to walk towards his car, “There’s one not far from here.”

Calum nodded, following after his friend.

“Good afternoon, how can I help you two gentlemen?” Greeted the shelter’s receptionist.

“Yeah, uh, we were just at the park and caught this little kitten in the parking lot as she darted under the vehicle of another visitor who was preparing to leave,” Calum stated as Michael stepped forward, still holding the small cat.

“We just wanted to make sure that she was okay and that there isn’t anyone out there missing her.” Michael explained, holding the cat out for the receptionist to examine.

“Well, it is kitten season,” they replied, smiling as the cat pawed at the air between them, “and this little one looks just old enough to not need mom for food anymore, they probably wandered off on their own and got turned around. But we can definitely put them on stray hold, just in case. Let me just page our cattery attendant to get this little one checked in.”

They grabbed a walkie-talkie from their desk, calling to one of their coworkers elsewhere in the shelter to come up front. Michael and Calum took a seat against the window, Calum reaching over and gently rubbing between the kitten’s ears. The receptionist walked over and handed Calum a clipboard to fill out, a sticker with a series of numbers and letters in the top corner. 

As he finished writing down his information and where they had been when they found the kitten, another person walked through the doorway from the back. She smiled, approaching the two men and greeted them, quietly reaching her hand out to take the kitten from Michael. Michael gave the kitten one last scratch before handing them over to the worker while Calum stood to hand the clipboard back. 

When he turned back he caught sight of Michael staring wistfully through the doorway the kitten had been carried through. He wasn’t the only one to notice either, the receptionist saying, “We’ve had a lot of people bringing kittens in the last few days, you can foster that little one if you’d like.”

Michael immediately brightened, “Can I foster two? So it has a friend?”

Twenty minutes and more paperwork later, they were back in Michael’s car, trunk loaded with kitten food and cat litter, a carrier containing two kittens secure in the backseat. Calum was smiling, listening to the small animals mewling behind him. They were almost back to Michael’s house, when suddenly, next to a strip mall containing a petstore, Michael gasped, “They need toys!” He checked around him before pulling sharply to the right, entering the parking lot.

“I’ll stay in the car with the cats, no going crazy in there, just toys, no furniture unless you’re certain you’re going to keep them.” Calum teased.

Michael parked smiling, “No promises.”

Calum shook his head, watching as his friend hopped out of the car, jogging through the lot.

Not long after Michael had disappeared through the door, Calum felt his phone buzzing in his pocket. He pulled it out, half expecting a text from Michael asking for an opinion, surprised to instead see his girlfriend’s picture on his screen. “Aren’t you supposed to be asleep?” he asked as he answered, teasing lilt to his voice.

“I can’t,” Lily whispered, snuggled under a blanket on the couch, “Miss you.”

“Just a few more days and I’ll be there,” Calum tried to reassure, but he could feel his own heart aching.

“I hope I’m not interrupting your afternoon with Mikey…” She started, but was distracted by a loud meow behind Calum, “What’s that?”

“Oh, you’re not interrupting, our afternoon was already interrupted. We found one kitten, and now Michael is fostering two.”

Lily sat up, trying to contain a squeal to not wake their sleeping boyfriend in the other room. Calum grinned, launching into the tale as, as he anticipated, a picture text came from Michael in the background of the call.

As promised, a few days later, Calum strolled into the penthouse apartment in Australia. It had been a long day of travel, made even longer by a maintenance delay in Seoul, leaving Calum pacing the terminal as his gate changed four times before they finally were able to board. He had told Ashton and Lily not to wait up for him, his expected arrival time now closer to 3AM than 9PM and was glad to see that they had heeded him for once. He quietly set his backpack on the table, removed his shoes and quietly made his way to the bedroom. He brushed his teeth and washed his face before shedding the clothing he’d been wearing since the previous morning. 

He smiled sleepily as he looked down at the bed, looking at his two partners. They had clearly been cuddling when they first went to bed, but had since separated, plenty of room between them for him to occupy. He carefully climbed over Ashton, who was facing the doorway, Lily facing the windows. He snuggled under the strewn blankets, pulling both of his partners to his chest. Neither woke, but they did both sigh, cuddling to him. Calum felt a smile on his face, kissing them each gently before closing his own eyes and finding sleep for himself, content to be surrounded by their warmth again.

1) Describe one creative WIP project you're planning on working on over the Summer Winter

I'm writing a book, actually. It's a speculative biology handbook set in a fictional island I came up with when I was 7 years old. Definitely my longest-term project ever and I think it'll be lovely to see it come to fruition. It's in Spanish for now, but if there's interest I will translate it. In fact, expect the first few bits to drop on @orfeoarte as soon as I have them. This is my graduation project, so it's got all my love and genuinely YEARS of study put into it. I'm excited and I hope to transmit some of that excitement!

2) Rec a book!

Consistent with my graduation project, why not check out Umberto Eco's work, particularly The Name of The Rose and On Ugliness?

Summer reading/writing/arting tag

It's 9C and almost winter in the upside-down-unda, so flip it! Hopefully, I'm far away in Jan-Feb so I won't have to suffer the heat. Which would also mean I'd not be online 85% of the time. So we have Winter Tag! :DDD

I'm finishing Vivec, starting an art tutorial of that Teldryn piece and hopefully starting the Sotha Sil piece. Oh and to get Serious Mistakes out of my word doc and onto Ao3. One means nothing on turbo ADHD apparently XD

2) Rec a book!

My favourite is WWZ, sorry I didn't grow out of the zombie thing :P. It helps having gone to some of the locations mentioned, better visualisation. I also like The Tenth Circle, because teen drama that's a bit fucked up made me interested in High School and I still enjoy the book. Batavia, for some gritty Australian history. 1177 B.C.: The Year Civilization Collapsed, for a fantastic breakdown of my area of study, the Bronze Age collapse. Actually, listen to Eric H. Cline's lectures on it too. Amazing.

3) Rec a fic! 

@mareenavee's fic I read all the way through :D I'm also enjoying @friend-of-giants' one too. There's a few I'm getting to and I'm starting on @paraparadigm's soon :D Got a smidge of research fatigue at the moment so words are backwards again XD
