Ok, I don't want to be the one to say this, and some people may get mad but READ THE WHOLE THING BEFORE REACTING PLEASE.

Ok, I disagree with the person I'm replying to who said it's not a mental illness, I think it is, or is adjacent to the concept at least, and I also disagree with the person in the comments who said all pedophiles should kill themselves I KNOW IT SOUNDS BAD BUT BEAR WITH ME there is a difference between someone who DOES morally reprehensible things and someone who DOES NOT do morally reprehensible things but has morally reprehensible thoughts/desires that they identify as morally reprehensible and do not act on.

For people who DO do morally reprehensible things I totally agree with what everyone has been saying, but for people who have thoughts/desires that they very much wish they did not have and cannot control, it is important to have empathy. I am aware that I am talking about a very small population, but it still matters. It still matters that you don't call someone a monster or tell them to kill themselves for something they can't control.

Being a bad or good person is based on your actions, not your thoughts. You cannot fully control your thoughts. You can control them somewhat, but not fully. You can, however, control your actions. You are responsible for your actions.

It's times like these when we must recall the words of our beloved dragon partysnax, "What is better? To be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?" It doesn't matter which is better though, what matters is that someone who has an evil nature but chooses to not act on it is a good person too.

Even someone with a pure nature can be a bad person if they do bad things, and the opposite is true too; a person with an evil nature can still be a good person if they do good things and don't do bad things. (This is an oversimplification of course as everyone knows that everyone does bad things in their life and stealing a candybar doesn't make you evil, but you know what I mean here)

Damn this got long, anyways, people who do pedophilic things are bad people and should get off my blog, people who don't think pedophilic actions are morally reprehensible and wrong should also get off my blog, people who struggle with pedophilic thoughts/feelings and do not act on them and agree that pedophilia is morally reprehensible can stay, but should get therapy.

Oversimplification only serves to complicate things further. Some things cannot be simplified and to simplify them is to say something that is not true. When someone is told something that is not true about a situation and then they try to interact further with something and it is made apparent that what they were told is not true it makes that person confused. Reality is complicated and oversimplifying things because you don't want to spend the time to actually explain something to someone causes harm. It is genuinely better to tell someone that you don't have the time/energy to explain something to them and let someone else do so or spend the time to explain it at a later date is much better because then the person both knows that they don't have all the important information and also doesn't feel like a burden or stupid for not getting it the first time and doesn't feel shame in asking for further clarification either from you later or from someone else.

i listened to a podcast about right-wing detrans grifter with a binary trans guest. said detrans grifter has made it clear that she's a woman. binary trans guest continuously uses they/them for her, talking about how she doesn't "know how they identify now" and how she "looks like a nonbinary art student". the guest also went on about how the grifter "didn't transition", despite her having lived as male for multiple years, as if medical transition isn't transition.

all of this approximating of detrans grifters to nonbinary people plays into the idea of nonbinaryhood being a privileged identity, not really trans, not really oppressed. it contributes to the archetype of the afab nonbinary basically-a-cis-woman person who "doesn't transition" that many binary trans people have, the supposed true oppressor of trans people, the true gatekeeper of hormones and surgery, the real enemy as opposed to cis people. it also plays into the idea that being nonbinary after previously identifying as binary trans counts as a detransition.

bonus points for the guest previously having said stuff like "i support nonbinary people but", saying "complete transition" when she meant all the hormones and all the surgeries and thinking medical transition is the only treatment for gender dysphoria (god, i wish there was something i could take to make my social dysphoria go away and make people see me as nonbinary. average binary truscum opinion).

afab nonbinary people who don't medically transition aren't the enemy.
