I should probably update/edit/finish the chapter for my FNAF Long Fic but alsheoshei I want, I want to write about HTTYD books. And the movies. the Wodensfang and Hiccup the Ist where movie Toothless is wodensfang and movie Hiccup is Hiccup the Ist. Sighs.

Ok so I want to ramble a bit about my HTTYD movies x Books AU.

Basically; Movies!Toothless is Wodensfang. I have a whole fic set after the first movie and stuff but yeah. Uhm:

The Wodensfang goes through a LOT of character development. His primary values; loyalty, family, duty, respect structure etc remain but they’re shifted. Family is not blood it can also be chosen.

I imagine towards the start (the first movie) he’s way more sarcastic and snappy. Also a bit prideful. A bit is an understatement he’s very prideful. This is of course contrasted by the Wodensfang in the books who is NOTHING like that. It’s sort of to show just how far he has grown as an individual.

Throughout the movie, and series, he has to rely on others and not himself. He’s forced to confront his own bias and develop empathy. Because that’s how he had to be— he had to lack empathy before. Had to lack compassion or mutual respect. But he’s forced to grow and learn. The Wodensfang in the books is an echo of who he once was because he no longer has to be the stereotype of a ‘dragon.’ He’s older and wiser and has promises to keep.

Rather then remaining stagnant— as in, always being a great knowledgeable and humble dragon— he has a past he at times is ashamed of. A reflection of himself that he can’t recognise- someone who he tries to seperate himself from. And that shows how he as a character grows.

Anyways, I love creating morally obscure characters and following their journey of discovery.

Ok. So, I’m doing AU Gust this year (maybe, at least a few of the prompts) and was thinking: how the fuck am I meant to do ���romance.’

I’m very averse to romance, as in, I will avoid a book if it’s romance heavy or focused. Me writing romance?? I’ve done that once with my one comfort ship and like, I ain’t posting that it’s personal.

So, I was thinking—sinfe the prompts came out— how the fuck am I meant to do this?

That’s when the idea came to me: my combination HTTYD books and movies AU could work in this. I either focus on Movies!Hiccup and Astrid OR on Movies!Toothless/The Wodensfang dealing with the idea of romance and his lack of romantic inclination. Maybe the Wodensfang watching Astrid and Hiccup and not understanding why they’re acting so weird. Whatever it is, if it’s the Wodensfang he comes to the conclusion romance just isn’t for him and platonic stuff is his vibe. (Not like he’d be able to put a word for it lol.)

Anyways so yeah, I’ll probably write from the Wodensfang’s POV as I love writing dragon POV’s. (Also love the AU lol.)

Looking through previous chapters of a long fic I’m writing (only five chapters in) and I realised that the early chapters SUCK.

The pacing/spacing etc is all off and I’m reading it like; fuckkk. Debating editing the earlier chapters just to fix the grammar and shit (I have a pattern of writing very fragmented sentences that don’t make sense in the end.)

Like I should edit the earlier chapters but I know that one) the current readers won’t notice and two) when I edit I add in a ton of new passages/paragraphs like it’s a bad fucking habit. 😭

Just got a long comment on my HTTYD books x movies (fusion?) AU where Movies!Hiccup is Hiccup the 1st and Movies!Toothless is the Wodensfang having a heart to heart after the whole Red Death thing (who was basically a ally of the Green Death.) Said comment got a response from me doubled in their comments length which is just me rambling about my ideas for said AU.

Also makes me want to continue my attempt at rewriting the first movie using the idea of Movie!Hiccup as Hiccup the 1st and Movie!Toothless as Wodensfang. Which is still in draft stages and would be a bigger passion project then my current Hazel series which still needs 20+ chapters written aisheiwhw (all over 2000 words each chapter sighs why do I do this to myself.)

Shoutout to the anon commenter who comments on my FNAF: Lonely Freddy Fanfic centring around Hazel trying to figure out what the fuck happened to her brother. You’re awesome for putting up with how bullshit my update schedule!

I swear I will work on this damned next chapter soon, trust trust. I have it all worked out in a google doc. I’m just having trouble writing the actual chapter. (I’m thinking of changing some things, but, it won’t really impact the overall plot.)

Or the opposite, “I don’t care” with peace then “I don’t care” with shaking hands. They grip all they have left and feel a mixture of fear, panic and anger. Such overwhelming anger, such fury, such resentment: angry at a world that tossed them aside in favor of a ‘nicer’ reality, tossed them aside so they wouldn’t have to face that they were wrong. Now that anger has crawled its way out of the depths of acceptance and peace, rearing its ugly head with a snarl of contempt.

character development is when your protagonist starts saying “i don’t care” and means it. before, they said it with a trembling lip. now they say it with peace. and maybe a machete

This is why I have grief with the FNAF fandom being so caught up on ‘canon’ or figuring out certain things. Like. STFU GUYS AND LEMME FIX EVERYTHING WITH THE MOST WILD HEADCANONS IN THE HISTORY OF EVER AND OC’s.

Also why I focus on the fnaf books, the httyd books… etc etc

Then what? People will actually discuss it? fill your plotholes with fanfiction and headcanons?

People dont care about perfection. perfection is boring. if your story is perfect people will forget about it. its how we are wired. we remember the strange, the weird and all things left open.

A major problem of being a writer is falling in love with your side characters. You want to explore them, want to share every detail you created for them, show them off to your readers. The pain of not letting them outshine the main character is real.
