What is "Scale"?

If you are just starting to build plastic model kits, you may be wondering what it means when you see 1/24 or 1:24. This is what we in the model building industry call a models "scale." So 1/24 and 1:24 both stand for 1/24th scale. A models scale is relative to the size of the original object. So a model car that is 1/24 scale has dimensions that are 24 times smaller than the actual car in real life.

Here are some examples of some common scales:  1/4, 1/6, 1/8, 1/16, 1/18, 1/24, 1/25, 1/32, 1/35, 1/48, 1/72,1/144, 1/200, and 1/350

Always keep in mind, the higher the scale the smaller the model!
