The complexity and tragedy of Thoschei is something I will never get over. They’re bound by time itself.
The Doctor wants Koschei
The Master wants Theta
The tragic irony is both have already won.

They do shop at the same place

The Master and the Doctor having matched TARDIS interiors is one of the gayest shit in classic who

You can tell it's on purpose bc the Rani's TARDIS was way cooler

At first glance, the image of the Sixth Doctor suspended between two trees appears absurd.
Upon learning that the trees were formerly human beings, the absurdity does not lessen

I just listened to Timelord Immemorial (finally, it's been on my list for MONTHS) and remembered that it feels kind of ... unfortunate to me that the two versions of the Master wanting to change themselves the most in order to appeal to the Doctor were the only two female incarnations
#like it's probably not intentional#nevertheless I'm kinda sensitive in that regard so it feels weird#the master#missy doctor who#the lumiat#the doctor#thoschei#doctor who

What could people possibly mean by "I support abortion only in extreme cases"?
If something is growing inside of you that you don't want there, that's pretty damn extreme.

Something about the Master being the representation of death but always clinging onto life, and the Doctor being the representation of life yet always being able to accept death if it would even just slightly help
#thoschei#doctor who#the doctor#the master#they make me insane#i read this literary absolutely beautiful ff once that had a similar implication as this and it went like “the Doctor runs like time while#the Master lingers like death“ or sth and it changed thd trajectory of my life I'm not kidding

pros of tpod essentially making At Childhood's End non-canon: Ace isn't a billionaire anymore
cons of tpod essentially making At Childhood's End non-canon: Life on Mars isn't officially a thing in the dw universe anymore (bc for some reason it's hilarious to me that roughly at the same time Harold Saxon was running for Prime Minister there was a show on with a main character that looks exactly like him)
#thought about that book again randomly and had to share a thought I had#btw for anyone who's curious about what's canon to me: essentially everything unless it gets completely contradicted by the main show#unless I like the not-show version a lot better#then that stays#doctor who#ace mcshane#at childhood's end#saxon master

Actually thought about something else: With all the other diabolical crap going on in that godforsaken episode it kinda got pushed back in my mind and I forgot about it bc it wasn't as horrifying, but isn't it kind of insane that UNIT apparently microchips their employees now? Not even "normal" microchips but microchips that can mess with a person's brain. And that no one bats an eye at this; it isn't considered a big deal by anyone and maybe even good by the narrative?
Doctor Who - The Reality War Thoughts
I never do episode reviews, but this episode pissed me off so bad that I have to scream about it into the void. I'm apologizing in advance if this comes of bitter and mean, but I feel bitter and mean. I have never been so upset about an episode since somewhere in 11s era probably. I'll try to structure my thoughts as best as I can though:
1. The Episode was really messy: So much happend, but nonetheless it somehow managed to drag enormously. Maybe bc the villians were already defeated by the halfway point and what followed was even more annoying
2. The Villains: I absolutely loathe what they did to Omega. There aren't even words for it to be honest. The Rani was written like she's the Master again, what a surprise. The way both of them were defeated was so underwhelming it made the Suthek debacle from last year look good
3. The Companions: Belinda got sidelined for Ruby. As a lot of people have pointed out, that appears to be a pattern for RTD and it's fucking shit. As for Belinda herself, it felt extremely icky to me that she now suddenly has a child and her whole personality/motivation revolves around that completely out of the blue. I may be reaching, but it had vage undertones of "the most important thing a woman can be is a mother"/"a woman's happy end will always be having a child". I recognize though that I might be too sensitive here - one friend agreed with me that it seemed like that, another one didn't take it that way. I just hate hate hate when a female characters story ends with settling down with a child/a family (when it hasn't been established that that is what they want of course, when it's clear that those are her desires then I'm fine with it) especially when there haven't been any indications towards that. And no, showing how Belinda actually wanted to go home for Poppy all along in this episode doesn't count, at least not in my books. (Though again, I might be unfairly harsh here because at that point I was already so deeply annoyed)
4. Regeneration: I hoped 15 wouldn't regenerate, I really did. But if it happened, I was hoping we'd get a female Doctor again. They somehow managed to cast pretty much the only woman (excluding obvious things like actresses that are genuinely bad people) that I did NOT want to be the next Doctor. Obligatory I-don't-have-anything-against-Billie-Piper, which I don't, she's great, but I don't want her to be the Doctor. Both from a pure fandom point of view because it will make the people who think Rose is the core of the Doctor Who universe (to be clear I'm not talking about people who like her/whose favorite companion she is. I'm talking about the people making her out to be some godlike figure) even more insufferable, and from a show point of view, because I find it weird that you would regenerate into the face of a 19 year old girl you were inappropriatly in love with (my thoughts on companion × Doctor ships could fill a whole nother post, so I'll keep it short - I hate them and find them creepy, not even because of the age gap (though that's...questionable too) but more so because of the vast power imbalance) centuries ago
5. To say at least something positive: I did like the 13 cameo (minus the Thasmin line, for reasons mentioned in the point above), didn't expect it and was really happy to see her. Also, the Doctor's regeneration was very pretty
That's all I can think of for now, and I'll have to stop here because I'm literally getting a headache from how upset I am. If I remember something else I'll add it
#yes I am still upset#I feel kind of silly for it tbh bc it's just a tv show but what can you do#doctor who
