I would just like to take a second to thank every single fanfiction writer who’s ever published a fic. In the last 3 weeks, I’ve read over 890,000 words of fanfiction while in quarantine. I know legally, fanfiction writers are not considered “essential” but let me tell you: they are essential to me. Essential to my sanity, my wellbeing, my happiness. Fic gives me so much joy and such a love for the world and the people in it, and fic writers don’t ask for anything in return, except occasional engagement. So from the bottom of my heart: thank you fic writers. Thank you for keeping me company during this time of isolation. Thank you for writing stories that give me hope and take my mind off of my anxiety. Thank you for making me laugh even when I don’t think it’s possible. Thank you for giving me something to be excited about when it feels like the world is falling apart around me. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

A dazzlingly abstract and somewhat confusing look at the red string of fate legend.

Another historical AU going through multiple lifetimes.  I’m a sucker for historical AUs, and this one takes the cake in terms of both breadth and realism.

Seventeen years after Harry dies and Voldemort wins, Draco and Hermione work together to bring him down.

Anything by Musyc is amazing, and this is no exception. I love EWE Ministry fics, and this is one of the best.

One of those fics you almost don’t want to read because you’ll be heartbroken when you realize it’s unfinished. This one is worth it, though.

Tender Vengeance by Margot Le Faye [MA]

For some reason, the captive!Hermione fic is pretty common. I love Hermione and Ginny’s relationship in this.

The Complexity of Carnal Knowledge by AkashaTheKitty [MA]

Draco and Hermione are forced to work together to round up Death Eaters. Smut ensues. One of my favorites by AkashaTheKitty.

First of all, no.

Second, this is not the only time I’ve seen Dramione (incorrectly) explained away like this, and I just have to ask HOW??? How the actual fuck does a skinny, pointy-faced, Prefect chosen by Albus Dumbledore who is scared of most things and cries in the bathroom and runs to his father to fix everything for him so much to the point his line “My father will hear about this!” has become iconic put you in mind of a bad boy???? How??? Because, and maybe I’m crazy, nothing about the above description puts me in mind of a leather-wearing drug-doing rule-breaking biker gang leader. It just doesn’t.

Draco was a racist snob, and while he will probably always be the latter to some extent, one of the many reasons people ship Dramione is how Hermione would completely obliterate the former. She is living breathing proof that everything Draco was raised to believe is complete and utter bs. She would help him break free of this world of darkness and isolation he feels trapped in. She would help him learn how to healthily feel and cope with his emotions. She would be his safe place where he knows he will not be viewed as a failure for his shortcomings. She would love and accept him as he is while simultaneously helping him to become the best version of himself.

But it’s not only Draco who would benefit from them being together; Hermione would finally have an intellectual match. Think of the banter, the deep conversations, the being with someone who challenges her. Also, because Draco has felt so much for so long and finally knows how to healthily deal with that, he would understand how to take care of Hermione when she’s overwhelmed. Think of how nice it would be for our favorite little muggleborn witch to come home after a rough day at work and know her husband is up for lavishing her with a fancy dinner because he would spend the world on her if only she’d allow or curling up on the window seat with a good book because they both appreciate literature or making love because their passion oh my, whatever she needs in that moment. Finally being understood.

So, no, we don’t ship Dramione bc “good girl and bad boy blah blah blah shit”. Nice try, though.

‘Summer Lovin’ - roadtrip AU

Part 1

“You didn’t tell me you invited Malfoy,” Hermione hissed as she passed Harry her duffle bag. Her best friend smirked at her and her scowl morphed to a snarl. “Don’t.”

“I never said anything,” he murmured back, though he was still smirking. Hermione huffed and folded her arms across her chest.

“I can see those wheels turning Harry James Potter,” she said waspishly, stepping forward and jabbing him in the chest with a finger, “just because you’re shacked up with Nott doesn’t mean I too need to ‘shack up’ with a Slytherin.”

Harry chuckled and slammed the boot of the car before he wrapped an arm around Hermione’s shoulder and steered her towards the car door. “But ‘Mione,” he whispered conspiratorially, “they’re so good with their tongues.” Hermione flushed beet red but Harry was already shoving her into the back seat of Sirius’ old corvette.

“Granger,” Malfoy said, not looking up from his phone. Hermione huffed her acknowledgement of him and slipped her seatbelt on before turning to look out the window.

She slipped her phone out of her pocket when it vibrated after a few minutes of driving and rolled her eyes when she saw who it was from. Glancing surreptitiously about her, she opened it.

Hermione closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She would not, would not, be distracted from her annoyance with Harry by the thought of Draco and his wicked tongue and typed her response.

Maybe. I might have to conduct more extensive research into the matter though. Perhaps Avery would be willing to help a girl out?

She sent the text and tossed her phone beside her, smirking. She could see Draco’s nails digging into the worn leather of the space between them and resisted the urge to reach across and take his hand in her own.

DHr || Fanfic Reviews 02

Okayyy, so I super love posting fics I’ve read cuz it keeps track of what I’ve read, but damn I’ve read soooo much. Anyways, this is a mess, but like I said before, I’ll create a comprehensive list in the future. :)

Dragon’s Bride [C]: One of my extreme favorites. The whole concept of it is just soooo nice. Draco and Hermione end up in a hotel room, and things get extremely wack with ancient magic and such.

The Moody Veela Chronicles [NC]: H was kinda annoying in the beginning of this bc she felt so powerful having so much over D’s head. Then, she becomes tolerable by helping D control his Veela-ness. Sucks that its incomplete tho.

Ambition’s End [C]: Marriage fic. Pretty good, in all honesty. H’s ambitious side becomes more ambitious and she begins to plan for everything, even her betrothal to D. H was pretty insensitive in this, so that sucked. Nice plot though. All in all, nice fic but slow read. 

How Hermione Granger Got Her Ring [C]: Pretty lighthearted. D was just annoying bc of his reluctance, but it was funsies. H and D have been dating, and H wants to get married, but D has some reservations. 

Beneath Your Window [C]: H leaves town, then unexpectedly finds D in the same place she moved to. Cute story.

Graveyard Valentine [OS]: So cute. Slow burn over a few years, but good nonetheless. D and H meet at a graveyard on the same date of every year. 

The Ends of the Earth [NC]: Super adorable really. D defects and goes on the hunt with the trio (I think). Its incomplete tho :(

Walking Shadow [C]: D defects into the Order, and H is the only one he’ll allow to talk to him. History and family stuff. Very nice read. 

When Love and Hate Collide [NC/E]: This one is very good. I actually read this for the second time bc I couldn't remember if I had, but I never finished it, and it’s also sadly up for editing. D has an alter-ego, and its slowly taking over.

Presque Toujours Pur [C]: Fantastic read. H as a pureblood with unusual parent, but what a nice twist. Go read it lol. 

A Bottle of Luck [C]: D has been gifted a bottle of liquid luck, and every time he takes a swig, he encounters H. Cute. 

Five Times Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy Never Kissed [C]: D and H kiss five times, but of course, they cannot get enough of each other. 

The Alkahest [NC]: Absolutely wonderful. Characters are easily liked and story is quite good. Plays into marriage law, but nice one. Its just incomplete :’(

Trust the Magic [C]: Of course, more marriage law. I definitely love the trope. I love the dynamic of H bonding with Slytherins and such. Astoria was not annoying here, thank Merlin. Pretty nice one. 

Resistance [C]: Veela D resisting the bond, so the elder Malfoys conspire with H to get D to give in. Pretty funny and cute. 

The Creature You Know [C]: H goes to search for a Witch doctor (incorrect term prolly) to help her parents, and it all goes wrong. D is a Veela, Theo is a vampire, and H is a lion. It’s pretty nice, honestly, since its something new yk?

Dandelions and Mended Hearts [OS]: A history before Hogwarts history between H and D. Very cute and kinda sad, but good. :)

Ninety-Five Percent [C]: Another marriage law lmao. I’m so bad haha. H and D fill out Marriage Compatibility forms to the Ministry and get 95% compatibility, which is highest amongst the general population. All goes well. 

Becoming Mrs. Malfoy [C]: A curse between Slytherin and Gryffindor prepared by the Founders when the house rivalry has become unbearable. D and H are paired together, and it’s a nice read with a nice ending. :)

Everything Changes [C]: Ron cheats on H, and D goes to pick up the pieces. The way H talks about her love for D just makes me want to be in love lmao. Only thing I dislike is the names for their kids, but eh I just love eccentricity lmao. Also, this song reminds me of Around by NIKI (give it a listen!!).

Chronos Historia [C]: A nice founders era story, honestly. Also, I like the subplot of the ghosts. One thing that confused me was how fast the development between H and D, but nonetheless, good story!

23 Positions in a One Night Stand [OS]: Straight up porn lmao, but it was funny to me somehow. 

Finding Granger [C]: Also, I very much enjoy pureblood!Hermione trope, and this is one of them.

Pansy’s Revenge [C]: Pansy is insufferable in this one lol. D and H are forced into a marriage, but it works out in the end. They pretty much have a zoo lmao. Its soo cute. 

His Beautiful, Haunting Eyes [C]: Super good. I was worried about D, honestly, and H kinda seems to be in an abusive relationship. It was weird sometimes, but good all in all.

Her Sweet, Decadent Smile [C]: Sequel to ^. Super good, finally ties it together, and wow, it makes it sooo great. 

Consequences of Common Civility [C]: H helps D get better in classes, I think. Such a weird ending tho.

DHr || Fanfic Reviews 01

in all honesty, I'm pretty much doing the reviews so I can keep track of what I've recently read and what I actually liked. I’ll organize it. and more or less try to keep it spoiler free. 

Post-Hogwarts Era

It’s All Uncharted: [C] Nice fluff, in all honesty. Hermione returns to London after a while and finds out Harry and Draco are literally best friends. Draco has feelings for her, and it’s all very sweet. A nice read.

The Wrong Strain: [C] Incredibly unique take on the Veela trope. H becomes infected by a Veela strain, then finds out D is her mate by accident. 

Seventeen: [C] Enjoyable. H and D have a secret relationship, and it becomes fruitful. H hides the child from D, but he eventually discovers her. A nice read but I just hate it when D misses the first parts of his child’s life.

Matched: [C] Marriage fic. I seem to be enjoying this trope from the look of my reads. Honestly, can't remember much from this fic but probably good. 

In Reverse: [C] Nice one-shot. Confusing at first, but the end is worth it.

Thirteenth Night: [C] Probably one of my favorites. D gets pardoned but has to live as a muggle for the rest of his life, and H has to keep an eye on him. They fall in love, but D starts retaining his memories and the memory charm is reversed. 

Apple Pies and Other Amends: [C] My gosh, I love this fic. It is so lighthearted in some parts, but it still brings the darker side of things. H bakes to get over her PTSD, and her last stop on her tour is none other than D.

Aurelian: [C] D and H find out they have a child together. Aurelian’s dialogue just gets a little distracting, but plot is pretty good. Some parts were icky but it was good all in all.

Hogwarts Era

7 First Kisses: [C] I love the movie Fifty First Dates, so I thought this was interesting. Voldemort wins the war, and Draco finds Hermione about to be killed. He takes matters onto his own hands, but before doing the deed, he kisses her for the first time then interesting stuff happen.

Linked: [C] A potions mishap. H and D are linked, and they must find a way to sever the link if they want live unhappily separately. 

Delilah’s Black Book of Poems: [C] One of my favorite favorites. It starts off with A Christmas Carols theme. Draco becomes nicer because of the dream, and it all pays off in the end. It’s pretty angst-y but wow it is unbelievably good.

Wrapped in Red: [C] Nice read. Christmas Secret Santa where H and D get each other. 

The Ends of the Earth: [NC] Could’ve been so good, but its unfinished:(. D ends up going on the horcrux hunt with the golden trio.

I might continue to update on fics I’ll read in the future, but for now, here’s some pretty good ones. :) Also, I don’t think I have enough fics listed to actually create an extremely comprehensive arrangement, but once I reach that point, I’ll choose my most favorites and list them that way.

Hermione thought this one was not as old as the other ones. It seems like it was only written about two weeks ago. She thought of who may have written the words but decided not to sweat it. She went to an empty spot to carve out her confession to the tree.

Neville: (stutters) its a l-love portion, sir.

*Snape flicks his hair, L'oreal style*

Snape: oh, how wonderful, 5 points from Gryffindor........for picking your nose in the middle of the class, Mr. Weasley.

And class get partnered up and start brewing the portion. You, Miss Granger can partner with Mr. Malfoy.

*adds in an undertone*

Hermione: Shove it you git, I can't smell anything above that atrocious cologne that you have bathed in.

Malfoy: Well, you bucktoothed beaver, if you toned down that perfume of yours a bit then may be people could breathe a little.

*Snape wipes a tear from the corner of his eyes and screams*

Snape: DRAMIONE ROCKS BITCHES!!!!

*then he turns into a bat and flies away*
