Due to the lack of fic involving the idea of aro/ace Luke, despite it being a fairly prevalent idea, @astriiformes and I are hosting a fic drive. Prompt submissions are now closed, and there are 20 wonderful prompts here for you to choose from. You can also use your own ideas, you don’t have to use one of the submitted prompts. Just go forth and create aro/ace spec Luke fic!

To sign up for a prompt, drop me an ask here. Multiple authors can sign up for the same prompt since it’s possible to write very different fics from the same general idea. Authors can also sign up for multiple prompts if you’re feeling ambitious. The target deadline for fic completion is February 1st.

If you’d like to participate but aren’t a writer, you can sign up to help beta fics. Alternatively, if you’re an artist you can illustrate people’s fics.

Any variation of asexual and/or aromantic spectrum fic is welcome, but particularly aro/ace fic is encouraged since there is so little of it.

Any version of canon is welcome. Movies only, Legends, EU, AUs, your own ideas for post ROTJ, etc.

No word limits or minimums.

Let’s fully establish some tags on AO3. “Asexual Luke” is a fully established ‘common’ tag that even gets Ace!Luke redirected to it, but since Luke is a common enough name there’s multiple fandoms using the tag. Use that tag, but also use “Asexual Luke Skywalker”, “Aromantic Luke Skywalker”, “AroAce Luke Skywalker” as is relevant to your fic to help get the tags marked as common so it’s easier to search and use them. If you already have aro/ace Luke fic you can help out by going back and adding those tags to your existing works! Since a quarter of the prompts involve a QPR, we can even try for getting “Queerplatonic Luke Skywalker/[other character]” established if one of those five ends up being a prompt you choose.

AroAceHogwarts’ White Dragon Gift Exchange

You are formally invited to aroacehogwarts’ White Dragon (creative content) Gift Exchange! That’s right, our White Dragon Gift Exchange is back for 2017!

What: An aro/ace Harry Potter creative White Dragon/Secret Santa! A Secret Santa is where you are assigned a giftee in secret to surprise with a gift during the specified time (and so on and so on so that everyone who participates is providing a gift and receiving a gift). Here on aroacehogwarts, we will be swapping aro/ace Harry Potter related creative content. You can choose to gift a fic, fanart, photomanip, gifset, etc. that you have created yourself. No physical addresses involved - all of this is stuff that can be shared online! At the bottom of the post is the form you will need to fill out in order to participate. The form includes what kind of aro/ace stuff you’d like to see (e.g., specific characters, ships, or orientations, house pride, or a link to particular headcanons from this blog you would like to see expanded), as well as what kind of stuff you are not willing to create (e.g., specific characters, ships, or orientations) so that we can make sure gifters and giftees are well matched. Your gift must be aro- and/or ace-related. This is aroacehogwarts, after all. In that same vein, please NO nsfw content.

To ensure that we can find all posts, you must submit your post or post link to us so we can make sure everyone receives your gift. You have the option to post the gift on your own blog and send us a post link to the post OR submit the post directly to us. You MUST include your giftees name in your post. Please feel free to @ your giftee and/or message your giftee to notify them their gift is posted and where. Final RSVP: Dec 20th - 22nd This is where mods remind you that gifts are due in a few days. Hopefully you can still complete your gift, but if not, this is the last scheduled chance to let us know that you will not be able to make it and your giftee will need re-assigned. You won’t need to confirm your activity, as this is mostly just a reminder.

AAWFC Day 6

I didn’t forget, friends, it’s just late!

Fri 27th, Day 6: AU day! Post about what canon/headcanoned asexual/spectrum characters from different fandoms that you would like to see meet. What would their meeting would be like, why would you like to see them meet, what sort of relationship do you think they’d have, etc.?

It’s a long shot but Eragon and Keladry should meet. Like they’d have such a good time talking about their adventures and such. They’d be good friends who would figure out a way for letters to cross the interdimensional lines so the can stay in touch.

Charlie Weasley and Eragon would have such a good time talking about dragons. Charlie would be delighted to meet Saphira, and Eragon would be fascinated with the dragons that exist in Charlie’s universe.

AAWFC Day 5

Thurs 26th, Day 5: Post about how a canon asexual/spectrum character shows their pride or how you think a headcanoned asexual/spectrum character shows their pride. What kind of merch would they wear/display, would they go to pride, would they talk about being ace/spec, etc.?

Space Pride is practically a galactic holiday, with the biggest parade being on Coruscant. Ever since the New Republic took Coruscant back, Wedge Antilles has made an effort of going every year, sometimes as himself and sometimes in disguise so he can just wander around and meet people. He dragged Luke away from Jedi duties one year to bring him, and now a group of Jedi Masters, Knights, and Padawans go to Pride every year, led by Luke.

Wedge also wears an ace pride flag patch on his flight suit. It’s right beneath his Rogue Squadron patch. Technically, pilots aren’t supposed to have any patches other than their squadron patches and any significant battles, but Wedge is a general. He can basically do whatever he wants.

Sorry I missed yesterday, friends, Tuesday’s are a tad hectic for me. So you’ll get both challenges today!

Spyro the dragon is ace he’s a dragon and purple.

Luna Lovegood doesn’t like big, grand, coming out parties or anything. For the most part, she keeps it to herself, but if someone asks, she’ll tell them she’s asexual. Not being out very much doesn’t make her insecure, Luna is comfortable with who she is. She doesn’t need anyone else’s approval to identify as asexual or be herself.

AAWFC Day 2

Mon 23rd, Day 2: Post about canon and headcanoned asexual/spectrum characters in shows and movies.

Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, and Wedge Antilles are all asexual spec. I already talked about them so I won’t repeat myself.

April from Grey’s Anatomy is totally demisexual. She thought she was asexual for a long time, but then she bonded and became best friends with Jackson. She fell in love with him first, then realized she was sexually attracted to him.

Fitz from Agents of SHIELD is asexual too. Anyone who says he doesn’t love Simmons is beyond wrong, they just don’t show their love through sex. Simmons is grayace, so she gets it. Instead, they send each other science articles about their areas of research, make each other favorite foods for lunch/dinner, and show their love in small, seemingly insignificant ways.

AAWFC Day 1

Happy Asexual Awareness Week everyone!

Sun 22nd, Day 1: Post about canon and headcanoned asexual/spectrum characters in books and comics.

Nancy from Seanan McGuire’s lovely short story Every Heart a Doorway is the first canon asexual character I ever read about, and it came as a surprise to me! I posted about it almost right away, and you guys blew that post up. I still see notes on it!

I headcanon Eragon from Christopher Paolini’s Inheritance Cycle as asexual. Like, c’mon, the dude is a DRAGON RIDER. Obviously ace.

Keladry from Tamora Pierce’s Protector of the Small quartet is also asexual and aromantic (Word of God, I’m pretty sure). She has no interest in men or women, but has a strong desire to serve the kingdom as its second Lady Knight.

Part 3 of 3!

Pidge Gunderson (Voltron: Legendary Defender) doesn’t realize they’re ace until they’re older and not fighting a galactic war. They spend time with Hunk talking it over, and eventually is very much ok with, cause let’s be honest: giant fighting lions that can combine into a giant fighting robot are wayyy cooler than people.

Abby Scuito (NCIS) is the literal inspiration for everything that I do. Other than creepy stalker boyfriend in like Season 2, Abby never has any love interests (well, McGee, but I don’t count that). Maybe she doesn’t know the word asexual, but she’s happy being who she is. 

Stanford “Ford” Pines (Gravity Falls) always knew he was different. It wasn’t until he was grown and old that his great niece and nephew helped him find the words he was looking for: asexual and aromantic. What could he say, science had always been more reliable than people, and honestly, he wasn’t great with people anyway.

Michelangelo “Spike” Scarlatti (Flashpoint) is my number 1 favorite ace headcanon. This is where my mod name comes from. Spike is asexual and demiromantic. Like, literally the team jokes that the bomb defusing bot is his girlfriend (a joke he’s fine with, as he refers to the bot as Babycakes). He was in a qpp with Lou Young before Lou died (spoiler, sorry), and he ended up falling in love with Winnie, which was an entirely new experience to him. He’s out and proud with his team, and they support him 100%.
