something that’s sad
I have had no motivation to write since the new year. Have I fallen out of love with it? Am I just busy? I look back at what I used to write about but I can't find it in me to finish writing those things. What is happening?

The 6 S’s in my Life (February)
Okay, so I know that zero people care but I need to at least pretend that people do so I can get my thoughts out of my head.
School- School has been rough, my grades are fine but I know that is going to change by the end of this week. My biology class has been really hard lately but I have faith that it can continue going well. Geometry, my grade is a 107 in the class, but she hasn’t graded the assessment I took two weeks ago, and I have had NO idea what we have been doing this whole semester. The problem is my teacher has been having some things going on in her life recently, and whenever my dad helps me he ends up doing the work for me and when I don’t know what he did he yells at me and I just cry. English is fun we are reading Frankenstein and it is one of the only classes I look forward to. Any advice on how to deal with my geometry problems please feel free to let me know!
Social- For the most part, everything is fine socially I think. I’ve been busy with schoolwork and musical so I really don’t hang out with people every single day but I don’t feel lonely. I am insecure that everyone secretly hates me but I mean what’s new? Hahaha. I like to say that I am occupied but not stressed. And it's true, I feel the most mentally healthy I have felt in a long time, especially socially.
Style- I have literally just been wearing leggings, a college sweatshirt, and boots for all of this semester but since the weather is getting nicer I am bringing out the dresses! I would like a pair of high top white converse because I don't have any pairs and I feel like they would be useful for spring/summer.
Sounds- I don’t have much time to listen to music, but while I’m doing homework, Abbey Road from The Beatles is my go to! In the halls, I love to listen to Hamilton and In the Heights! Also, the Sister Act soundtrack because I am currently in the musical (Bar Patron #2 oh yeahhh).
Sustenance- I’m trying a new lasagna recipe tomorrow and I am wayy too excited for it! Also trying to add more food to my lunches because counting calories are stupid, I’m only going to have this metabolism for so long, TREAT YO SELF!
Supplementary- I am loving this nice weather! Really looking forward to the spring. I love the change!! Also since the weather has been changing I have been LOVING my Vaseline Lip Therapy and my Yes to Coconut Hydrating Mask! (Dry girls unite!!) Plus I’m thinking of trying to teach myself French? I think it’s a fun idea...

How to learn languages by being lazy
So, today I’m gonna talk about how I learned 7 languages (English, Spanish, French, German, ASL, Libras, LSM) by being lazy as f**ck.
The first thing you need to understand is that you need to put your target language on your routine just as your native language. Then, here we go.
• Listen Just as your native language, it’s very important to listen every single day on the language you’re learning. You can totally do it by listening to a song or a podcast itself.
• Talk Make native or fluent friends in your TL (you can use apps/sites as Lingbe, Tandem, Interpals) and speak to them, sending audios and texts. A great way to practice almost everyday in a really cool way.
• Play Playing games it’s also a awesome way: you’ll become kinda addicted to it, then yay, you’re practicing it everyday in a entertaining mode. This can give you hella vocabulary too.
• Read Reading books (short stories on Wattpad can be great), quotes, newspaper and magazines is a good option as well.
• Watch
I’m pretty sure you love to watch TV shows, TV programs, videos on YouTube, so why not watch all of it in your target language?
You can totally watch your favorite program/tv show dubbed, cool videos and etc.
Tip: if you have Netflix, change the idiom of your profile and pum, it’ll appears lots and lots of movies and tv shows in that language. If you don’t, you can just search on YouTube the movie title that it’ll show.
• Write
Writing a diary (what happened in your day, how you’re feeling…) or stories or poems in your TL can help a lot too. Don’t worry about grammar or vocabulary mistakes, just write, you should do the corrections later.
These are general topics, there may be things that aren’t in your native language routine, so you can also modify this.
I hope this helps you guys, any doubts you can totally ask me! Greetings from Brazil! :)

February 1, 2017
Every once in a while, my brain just stops working. I lose all motivation, knowledge, and I just lack everything. I don’t know what’s wrong with me, honestly. It is taking everything I have to even write these sentences. I try doing my homework, I have to characterize Walton from Frankenstein and do a worksheet on photosynthesis. I had a few extra things that I wanted to do today. I just can’t bring myself to do them. We all have those days, where we think “Wouldn’t it just be better to end all of this?” Well, I get that feeling too often. I am so stressed to the point where I am numb to everything. I want something to help me, I need someone to sprinkle happiness on me, I want to know how it feels. I have run out of tears. My crying is just me sitting, staring at nothing as if I am an old doll on a shelf. People ask me what’s wrong, or how I’m feeling. I want to tell them. I really, really do. “Just tired.” I say. I am afraid that I will be deemed, “drama queen” or “if she really felt this way she wouldn’t be telling people.” When did sharing how you really feel become a bad thing? When did we start just answering “good” or “fine” to anytime somebody asks how we are, even if we aren’t? When did we start asking people a question about how they were feeling, but if they said anything other than “good” or “fine”, we judge them for it, rather than offering to help? When will my misery end?

Turning Mistakes into Positives
Mistakes, we all make them. I don’t think I’ve gone one day without making some sort of error. Humans are imperfect, but without flaws- how would we ever discover? Penicillin, the anti-biotic that changed the world, Alexander Fleming originally was trying to create something totally different but out came an even better invention. JK Rowling, the author of some of the most iconic books, was rejected dozens of times before being published, and later became a new york times #1 best-selling author. I believe that being able to learn from your mistakes is one of the key traits to becoming successful in anything. We all make mistakes, but only few of us have the resilience to keep pushing and find a positive in an undesired situation.
I have never really had a core group of friends. I mean, I was never alone. I had so many friends and safe people who I could talk to, but I wasn’t part of just one of the “cliques”. This is my first year of high school and one of my biggest fears going in, was the worry of not finding friends. But I did! Within the first few weeks, a girl I knew from middle school had told me that she wanted to create a new ‘no shame, welcome everyone’ group, so she had a few get togethers with about 8 people. We all liked each other and soon became our school’s “squad goals” (quoted by many people). We went to homecoming and football games together, hung out every weekend, and we were all up on a group chat until about 2 am every day. I was completely happy with my life, my grades were perfect, I finished top 10 in every race and I had a bunch of people who made me feel comfortable and safe. One of the guys in the group had recently gotten broken up with, and I helped him a lot with feeling better. He then invited me to a few of his hockey games and we hung out alone one or two times. I then found out that the girl from middle school which I mentioned before, was not too happy about this, because she liked this boy in a more-than-friend way. Long story short, I got the boot. She stopped inviting me, as well as a few other people, to everything. I was so upset. When I would go talk to her she would roll her eyes and act like I didn’t exist. Or she would purposely get me talking so that she could look over at her friends and laugh at me. I would go home crying almost every day. I tried just trying to cut her out, forget about her. No matter what my mind would always come back to “why can’t I be friends with them again?” I have always never cared what people thought of me, but for some odd reason I cared about her opinion more than anyone’s. I was still friends with everybody in the group, yet I wasn’t a part of it because of her, and the people I was still “friends” with, were too afraid to say anything to her. Out of fear for being kicked out like I was. While all of this was happening I wasn’t paying attention to the people who actually do love me and care about me. I figured that just because this one girl didn’t like me, that nobody liked me. When in reality, there were and still are so many people who don’t exclude me or make me feel horrible. Since then, I have become friends with so many better people than my last group. The girl who excluded me tried to get me back because the boy she liked refused to hang out with her until I was included again. I learned that even though everything in my life took a turn for the worst, there are still people who love me. If I could go back in time I wouldn’t take that part of my life away, I am glad that I went through that because it taught me to always love and pay attention to people who love me. I am beyond grateful for the people who stuck by me through this journey.
I challenge you, the next time you make a mistake or something doesn’t go your way, don’t cry about it. Find a way that that situation made you a better person or find what that situation has taught you. That pointless teenage drama made me aware of people who really love me. What can that C on a test teach you? How can you improve or learn from your mistakes? There is always a bright side, find yours.

Tips for when you lack motivation to keep up with your study routine
Hi everyone! Saw soo many inspirational posts and tips about how to get your work done & plan your holiday study routine etc. They’re super useful!
But what about those times when you’ve been studying for a while (be it days or weeks) and you’re feeling overwhelmed / tired / can’t wait to just turn in that essay or pass that exam? Thought I’d share a few tips with you in case you were lacking motivation to keep up with the (amazing) work you’re doing :)
1. Break that chapter into smaller chunks. Instead of pulling a three, four-hour study session, try studying from 30 minutes to one hour, and repeat this throughout the day. This way, you will be able to still be productive while fitting other tasks or things you enjoy doing in-between study sessions.
2. Change your “study location”. This actually helps me sooooo much. Be it moving to the kitchen, to the library or to a friend’s house (provided you will both be studying) can honestly improve your productivity, like, a lot. Our brains need to contextualize when learning something new - so if you’re studying in a different place, it is highly likely you will remember that better. Also, that’s the perfect excuse to hang out with your friend afterwards. Earned it.
3. You don’t have to actually sit, pen in your hand, to call it “studying”. Try different study methods: convert your textbook to mp3 and listen to it while heading to the gym; carry your flashcards with you and glance at them on the bus; look up a TedTalk or listen to that podcast you’ve been trying to watch for ages. You can fit studying almost anytime during the day, be it only 10 minutes - it doesn’t have to include textbooks and pens. And it’s still way better than doing nothing at all.
4. Talk to someone going through the same things as you. This way you will be able to support and motivate each other, exchange tips, maybe notes, etc.
5. It’s okay to have lazy days. This is very important! Sometimes you just need time to fuel up again. Trust me, a lazy or cheat day isn’t a wasted day - provided it doesn’t become a habit. Take care of yourself. You’ll see the benefits of it in the long run.
Hope these were useful! Feel free to add any more tips you might have. Keep up with the good work!

It doesn’t always have to look nice. Sometimes you need to get over making everything look aesthetically pleasing and tumblr-worthy and just do the work.
Sometimes it’s late at night and you’re tired and you want to set an alarm and get up early to finish your work. You’ll set the alarm. When it goes off in the morning, you’ll silence it and go back to bed. This strategy very rarely works.
And sometimes it’s late at night and you’re sleep-deprived, exhausted, and want to die because of school. Just go to bed. Missing one homework assignment won’t kill you, and you need your sleep.
But do your homework. Sometimes you do need to stay up late to finish assignments and you just have to deal with that. Find the happy medium, and always put your personal health first.
You don’t need to stay in every weekend and work. You’re young! It can be hard, but set aside time to hang out with friends.
Talk to your teachers. They will help you. They were teens once.
You don’t need to have straight A’s.
That bad grade isn’t as big of a deal as you think it is.
Even if you have two weeks to work on an assignment, start it ASAP. You’ll thank yourself later.
Sometimes you just have to break down and cry. Let yourself do it. You’ll feel better afterwards.
Not understanding a unit or a subject does not make you stupid, even if someone explains it to you five times and you still don’t get it. Sometimes it will take ten, fifteen, twenty times for it to click. That’s okay.
Everyone struggles in at least one subject.
Coffee and tea are nice, but sometimes you just need water.
Even if no one is there to tell you, you’re doing great.

how to make this year, your year
A list (mainly for me tbh) of things to help make this new year the best it can be :)
Drink water: this is so beneficial and being hydrated can help boost productivity
Set yourself some goals: break them down into smaller tasks & make them attainable. Make sure they’re somewhere they’ll always be insight!
Save: Put something away every week, even if it’s only $2, buy the end of the year you’ll have money you can treat yourself with, buy those plane tickets :D
Work hard: try sit at your desk/ go to the library 5/6 times a week, work on achieving your academic goals; prepare ahead of classes, refresh old materials; study a little every day
Try something new: join a new society, try out new hobbies, fun fun fun
Exercise: ew I know but even a 20 minute walk outside has so many benefits :)
Explore: go to new places! It doesn’t even have to be a new country, often the place you have explored the least is the area around you!
Do something you’ve always wanted to do: get out of your comfort zone and just do it, seriously.
Plan: start a bullet journal, write down what you need to do & when it needs to be done, it will help you be more productive & you’ll feel super organised
Eat well: eat fruit and veggies, try new foods & new combinations!
Organise your money: try out an app like Mint or Wally! It’ll surprise you how much you spend on some things and how much you can possibly save!
Read: educate yourself or transport yourself to different lives, just by opening a book! Download goodreads and set yourself a reading goal!
Take photos: it’s so nice to look back on! At the end of the year print them out and stick them in a lil’ notebook :)
Treat yourself: once a week/month or whenever, do something nice; go out for food, go to the movies, have fun
Make time for friends: friends are fun, chill & talk, watch movies whatever floats your boat
Have a sleep schedule: & stick to it, sleep cycle is v v helpfult for this
Do something for the greater good: volunteer/help out your local animal shelter/donate stuffs to charit, everything counts
Do things alone: ex. have a meal alone; it’s really refreshing every now and then just to chill & be in your own head & no one will judge you for it, promise.
I hope you all have the best 2017!
