How do you think he'd be with a partner that's more powerful than him? I have an oc who's essentially a goddess that I pair him with but like she's real chill about. Doesn't even like being a diety. But I've been struggling with how he'd react cause I switch between being a little envious to enamored

I think he'd be a little envious at first, possibly feel threatened unless he's sure he can hold on his own against them. Dan probably has the mindset of being the most powerful thing on the planet, it's pretty damn well true and there's no denying it, and there'd better not be anyone stronger than he is. Unless it's a challenge for him to test his prowess. Man can't be going slack now.

Until he realizes, wouldn't it be wonderful to have someone of their calibre on his side of the field? Not to mention how much power they'd have surging through them... Dan would love to get a taste of it 😉

Once he gets a feel of their aura, or something similar to it, Dan becomes more enamoured by this potential partner. A specific preference Dan has, in my opinion, is that he wants his partner to be equal to him, it levels things more fairly. Flirting, trying to egg them into using their full against him, all the works. He has plenty of time to get to know them. Not to mention it's more fun this way.

Hi, hello, I was wondering if you could give us more of your own headcanons about Dan? I love seeing everyone's different variations of him and how they portray him !

I've basically attached myself to Dan, for comfort reasons I think, it's just in recent years that I've started thinking more about his character. Specifically how The Ultimate Enemy frames him as being evil... just because.

That hasn't sat quite right with me. When I look back at the episode now, Dan didn't seem all that interested in "world domination" and more so just fucking stuff up for the hell of it. The largest reason being unprocessed trauma from watching his family die. The emotional overload from Danny coupled with some of Vlad's worst characteristics was probably too much for Dan to handle (quick fyi, I consider Dan to be separate from Danny and Vlad, that he formed from their remains after a failed overshadowing attempt by Phantom).

Having literally no support system, Dan did the one thing he felt he could only do at this point, was lash out. A singular body with the budding powers of a teenage hybrid with the immense capabilities of a fully grown hybrid probably gave him a sense of control and the rush of getting his anger out. Everything around him, he was apathetic to, only that as long as the world knew he was angry (and hurting).

I wondered if in some way, Dan secretly wished someone knew why he was angry and hurting. And that they... would care. It's something he viciously represses when it crops up. Opening himself up to such painful emotions and memories is, unfortunately, still too much for him. So he doesn't bother, at least, until one day, those emotions will implode.

Dan's logic is that he has to be strong no matter what, and show no weakness. I think he mentioned it in the AGiT novel too.

I mentioned it a bit here as well.

Another little tidbit that came up recently is Dan's appearance changing somewhat due to so many years of mental and physical strain. Namely, his white hair getting a slightly darker tint to it.

Not alot of people draw this guy with scars which I think is a missed opportunity. Could do some really narly stuff with that.

a craving for Dan and an innocent s/o. Or I guess more so oblivious? She likes him and all that but she's terrible at picking any sort of flirtations? If you would be so kind as to bless me with something like that, then mwah- thank you ! (smut optional lol...)

Oh, this is a bit different. I usually prefer Dan's partner(s) knowing exactly what he means and reacts accordingly, or get flustered and blushing up a storm.

However, I suppose it could be interesting to see their dynamic develop when the s/o is oblivious (maybe taking what he says literally), and Dan gets annoyed continually trying to find ways to have them pick up on what he actually means.

S/O Is Oblivious to Dan's Flirting Headcanons

• This can be either a new relationship, a long established one, or they're still beating around the bush about getting into one. S/o knows (but not everything) about the ins and outs of a relationship. She's kinda awkward about affectionate and romantic inclinations she has with Dan. She sometimes interprets things on a literal level than metaphorically.

• Dan comes up with unusual but clever metaphors (thank his younger self's corny puns). S/o reads way too deep into them, and the point ends up flying over her head.

• Most of the time Dan lets it be, he can always try again. Once in a while, though, he will tell s/o directly what he actually meant and she'll go, "Oooh, okay!" Rinse and repeat.

• Physical flirting, s/o is even more awkward about it. Once Dan starts making moves towards her, s/o freezes up like a deer in headlights. And she'll just stare.

• Until Dan finally resorts to nuzzling s/o and gently caressing her face. Same reaction to Dan's metaphorical flirting, except she'll be more on top of it next time.

• It ends up turning into something of a game for both of them. They find it more amusing than anything with counting how many times s/o either gets Dan's flirting, or it flies over her head. It always ends up in nuzzling and cuddling, sometimes more.

Dan and Dani can actually be considered siblings (Masters siblings if you will). Both left in the care of Vlad to later being abandoned bc of his ambitions. Yeah... Vlad needs to make amends.

*shakes tin can full of coins* Kai lore? Spare Kai lore? What's his past? What he got going on? How he met Dan?

Simply put: He doesn't really remember much of his true origins.

Kai looks like a ghost, acts like a ghost. It's all good and dandy... if it weren't for one little thing. He's mimicked and learned those behaviours, he's very good at it, but does slip up once in a blue moon.

The light or shadow catches his face in a certain way, a flicker of something that doesn't seem... quite right. Not emotive most of the time, but has a very unsettling smile coupled with sharp, inhuman teeth, when he does display emotion. Unexplained instances that can't simply be waved off as ghost behaviour.

There are things out there, beyond ghosts, and far beyond the Ghost Zone. Kai is subconsciously aware of this, but his mind blocks it so he doesn't look further into it. He kinda knows but doesn't understand fully.

Why? It's a complicated story, but to shorten it, whenever his core sustains too much damage and can no longer support his current body, his body gives out and he's forced to be "reborn" in a brand new one. But, with every "rebirth", Kai's mind becomes a blank slate and doesn't retain the memories of the previous iteration of himself.

Let's say you knew one iteration of him, but inexplicably vanishes and reappears many years later, no older than how you knew him long ago, but... he doesn't remember or know who you are. It's a cruel cycle, he doesn't connect with people very well as a result.

The reason Kai's core does that it because it's malformed. It still functions as it should, but it's not complete. The Kai someone would know is the logical portion of his personality, apathetic and not very emotive. He's capable of feeling the entire spectrum of emotions, his core just doesn't bring them to the forefront. Kai hates mirrors and reflective surfaces, and that's because it shows the missing portion of his personality, the emotional aspect his core. He gets anxious, because he'll see someone that looks like him but doesn't feel like him, and have these thoughts in his head that don't sound like his own (even though it is him). It's very stressful since he doesn't remember and may end up hurting himself and others around him, and possibly destroy any reflective surfaces.

I originally envisioned Kai as a "grim reaper"-like figure of the DP world. As you see what I've just shared, he's evolved and I think he'd be more fitting as the "Ghost of Rebirth", though he still does deal with the dead.

I'll explain Kai's relationship with Dan in another post. This one's already long enough and I didn't want to derail it lol. Um... yeah, I hope you found this interesting! (^o^)/

You automatically cast your gaze over to him. As you would in any situation, but especially this one in particular.

"Well."

Across the tattered street, your eyes meet hers. Wide and youthful, just like you once upon a time. You scoff quietly at her fashion choices, how you ran around dressed impractically for so many years.

To be frank, it wasn't the end of the world then. Your breath hitches with memories surging to the forefront.

You hear Dan make a similar sound. Your attention goes back to him, just as he turns his head to meet your gaze. A wry smile splits across his face when he reaches out for you. Firm fingers entangle with yours as Dan pulls you close.

It's so quiet you can hear their soft breaths. Panicked but controlled, wispy breaths blow out of her mouth, much like how you control your own breathing. Too much alike. Naturally, since she is a younger version of you, after all. You close your eyes and keep your back to them.

You ignore the second's intense, green eyes staring into your back. It's not the same. He and Dan are not the same.

Dan's hands tighten their grip on your shoulders. You lean into him, his core pulses out in comfort.

"I suppose I could welcome a blast from the past..." Dan starts in a steady, firm tone.

The air suddenly shifts around the four of you as eco-energy crackles to life. You feel Dan's body shift with one arm moving, you spot a flash of green from the corner of your eye. You don't need to see that he trapped your younger self and Danny in a paralyzing energy field. The oldest but best trick in Dan's book.

"I find it curious since you two are not supposed to be here."

Please tell us more about your newest OTP, Ghostwriter x Ember~

*rubs hands* Ayyyy here we go!~

Now, Ghostwriter x Ember started off as something that mildly intrigued me as I explored other peoples' pages/ship opinions; after lowkey getting bored of the same ol' Skulker/Ember (& just never really vibing with the other "popular" options like Danny/Ember lol), I couldn't help thinking of who else could possibly fit such a spunky firecracker like her? 🤔

...and then, it hit me when I remembered the presence of the reclusive, hot-headed Ghost Writer; one who was so passionate about his work & creativity that nothing will stop him from writing a good story (*even if others like Danny gotta suffer 'cause yknow... villain lol*)

Putting both of them together just got me thinking more about GW & Ember's dynamic potential; Ember finally getting some love & attention that's not solely-focused on her rockstar persona, GW finding an equally-artistic soul who'd gladly listen on & on about his story ideas (+helping to inspire new ideas for songs)... and just all-in-all having a good time vibing with eachother, supporting eachother's creative pursuits at their own paces, but at the end of the day still having the time to connect & vibe together no matter where they are (whether its out in the spotlight, chillin' at home, annoyingly mushing it up at the local cafes, etc. etc.)

Soooo yee, that should about cover for why these two are an OTP rn~ ;p ❤️‍🔥💜
