I'm not going to lie I tried to not cave in but I did. I have a labubu and I AM NOT ASHAMED. She was sourced locally and for a decent price and I LOVE HER. I named her Regina Yellowbu, I won't go crazy and have boxes of Labubus everywhere I promise but I will enjoy some labubus. The idea was to get a little buddy on a chain and have fun with it, not to keep them in boxes and resell them for double. I grew up poor and I had one real Barbie that already had her hair ruined, by the time my parents afforded toys I was too old to play with them. I never got to have the things that other ppl had when I grew up and I want it now. I bet many people who are into labubus just want to be reminded of the excitement of childhood, they dress them up and take them places like we did with toys when we were kids. It is sad that such a pure thing is used against ppl but that is capitalism, using our needs and little pleasures against us. Like any comfort thing even the necessary ones costing money even tampons. If it makes my inner child happy I will do it, we already lost so much of our childhood.

Say what you want about labubu and the horrible consumerist culture around it- I’m talking about the actual design of the dolls. I understood her so much more when I found out that she’s supposed to be just a little girl.

As someone who used to be Just A Little Girl, I don’t think I’ve seen a more accurate representation of what being Just A Little Girl is like. Idk how to explain it. It just captures the feeling of being a chaotic little beast that mixes shampoo to make potions and drawing all over yourself with mamas makeup and making worm hotels so well.

I feel almost a kinship with this terrible little elf girl. I’m so sorry labubu. You deserve better than being the face of scalpers and TikTok consumerist culture. They don’t understand you like how you should be.

The first photo is the only whale we saw on our whale watching adventure. I was very happy to know that humans stay far from the whales so they don't scare them or make them change their migration course. I was watching Our Planet and the migration on whales is absolutely magical. The mom whale doesn't eat for months to be able to make this migration happen with a baby that she has to feed. Moms everywhere make it happen.
