Gintoki as a mc is actually a breath of fresh air. Because he doesn’t come across as uncaring in my view. He’s actually just slow to open up and trust people. He gives people crumbs of bread for them to follow the trail off until you finally make it to him. Like if you notice how he was with Kagura and Shinpachi at beginning. He was more dismissive and not as active in spending time with them. But slowly he started being more active around them and reveal things about himself. More light and energy to him. Took about a year in universe for him to get to this point. Most mc from shonen, both adults and kids, are open and trust instantly day one. (I suppose he’s kind of like Spike from Cowboy bebop. He’s also dismissive and takes forever to open up). (Gintoki is a breath of fresh air in the way that he’s not completely closed off like Hijikata is. Like I said: he leaves a bread crumb trail for people).

I will never understand what prompted such an absence after Yoshiwara in Flames. The arc was done but we definitely could have gotten more from her character.

in Summer Camp there's a meta plot in which the characters of the various games battle against each Monokub in themed areas after getting unceremoniously teleported:

DR1/class 78 vs Monokid

DR2/class 77 vs Monosuke

UDG "vs" Monophanie (i'll get to that in a second)

V3/their numberless class vs Monodam

and Monotaro calls all the franchise's siblings (Makoto, Mondo, Rantaro etc) for sibling advice towards the end

this is important background information for what i'm about to tell you:

Toko is called up twice, once with her class vs Monokid and once for UDG "vs" Monophanie. however, Monophanie doesn't want to battle, she just wants to talk out her feelings. also, though Tokomaru is a thing, the other events of UDG didn't happen in this universe...

so as far as Toko is concerned, she was randomly teleported again but this time to a flower field with her bestie Komaru, five miscellaneous angry children, and her scammy classmate's strangely attractive mother, all to play therapist for a little pink bear robot who has Oldest Daughter Syndrome. she has nothing in common with these people. and it's the worst day of her life

There’s something beautifully chaotic about how each Time Lord’s regeneration gets labeled in a completely different taxonomy

The Doctor, of course, usually gets numbered in a very official-feeling way—“The 10th Doctor,” “the 14th Doctor”—complete with the traditional "th" or "nd". Pretty standard.

Romana, on the other hand, sticks a Roman numeral after her name—Romana I, Romana II, etc.—which feels halfway between monarch and droid model, and I love that for her.

And then there's the Master, where we’ve just... absolutely given up. No numbers. No system. We either go with a nickname (like Missy, which she chose herself ), or we use a descriptor (like "Spy Master"), or we just straight-up refer to them by the actor’s last name. “Oh yeah, that was the Gomez Master. Or maybe the Dhawan one. (this point also applies to the Rani aswell lol)

It’s chaos. It’s inconsistent. It’s deeply unserious. And I wouldn’t change a thing.

Sat down and watched the Magical Girl OVA "Niji no Shoujo-tai Prism Knights" an original production for the PC-FX "magazine" Anime Freaks FX - a pc-rom game that showed clips from popular anime, news, interviews and other fun things for older anime fans in the late 90's.

There were only 3 episodes produced, and no credits in sight (at least in English) between 1997 & 1998. Luckily a few players have uploaded their copies, and the game has the episode and the credits in separate parts of the disc, so that's why it's harder to find. The playthrough I watched is from Riza Visual Novel Games I took out a translator and tried my best to transcribe the names in the credits, but if anyone would like to proofread it I'd appreciate it

You know, as a artist, I really gotta appreciate Sena Riko and, by extension, Marisa' character designs

Usually, their body type is not given to female characters because it's not considered attractive and when it's used, it's usually for a joke so you really gotta appreciate when someone just decides to go for it
