I did it again...
2 books I've read so far that I could have sworn were on the list. Fahrenheit 451 and The Book Thief.
Both very good books but not on my damn reading challenge!

4/5
The kind of magical realism I can get into (not 100 years of solitude). I've read this book once before, I was sitting in a waiting room when a stranger handed me this book I forgot the context but it was something about passing it on. I loved this book then and I love it now.
A story that takes place during ww2 Germany about a girl stealing books told by Death. It's pretty wonderful.

2/5
Not only is this book on the list, not only did I pay full price for it, but it was also highly recommended to me twice? Why is this on the list!?
I guess this her debut novel? And then she won the Pulitzer prize for the Goldfinch and maybe it's great so put that one on the list instead of this hot garbage.
Donna writes at us, look how smart I am by writing these characters so smart, look at these big words they know and how smart they are by having self importance and a pack of smokes a day. I know Greek. I just hated every minute of it.
2/5 because the story got a little bit interesting towards the end. But the lack of actual emotion in this thing especially from the main character made me super frustrated.

Yes yes I've been reading, but I've also been moving.
Anne is a terrific writer, however I've only given this book 3 out of 5 stars, I think this book is so famous because it is a first hand account of someone living during the holocaust, but this isn't about the holocaust. Not really. This is about a young teenage girl learning to live in hiding with 8 other people for 2 years. She is incredibly insightful for her age and I often find myself having to take a break because there are times when she is so optimistic for not only her future but humanity's as well and I'm sure everyone who reads this knows: Anne doesn't survive the holocaust.
This being said, this book is boring, its day to day accounts of what Anne thinks about, what they eat, and how horrible it is to live with 7 other people and what they do every hour for 2 years. It's boring because it isn't a book, it's a real persons diary.
BUT I'm glad I read it, and I think others should read it too. Before this book I thought hiding from Nazis in the early 40s would fill me with unbearable anxiety. But the reality is that its boring, and if your bored you are very, very lucky. It is a first hand account of what it's like to hide during the holocaust. Read it.

I am finally done with this book! It's taken me a whole month to read this thing not because it's long but I'm in the middle of moving. I really really enjoyed this book and I know that I would have loved it as a child. If a book didn't have talking animals I wasn't interested that is I think until Harry Potter came out.
The book isn't only about rabbits its told from their point of view, and it has there own lore. It's like the hobbit but better. (Did I really say that? Dont worry I'll eventually give Tolkien another chance.)
Also the other day I read the back of the book and found out that he also wrote the plague dogs!!! That movie disturbed the crap out of me! So naturally I bought it. XD

5/5
For all its faults. I've never read anything like it, and for the reasons people hated it are the reasons I couldn't put it down. Sure it has lack of plot and instead has a series of circumstances but that was the driving force that lead me to keep turning pages. I had many questions and expectations while reading this book and I didn't get any answers or results but instead easily accepted what was given me.
I probably wouldn't recommend this book to anyone, it's something I read only because it's on a list of 100 books to read before you die and because of that I found a new favorite.

4/5 (1) Fahrenheit
It was a dumb joke but I really did give it 4/5 stars.

Just finishing this I went to cross it off my physical 100 books to read before you die list and ITS NOT EFFING ON THE LIST BUT 1984 IS? It’s fine, its... *sigh* whatever.
I enjoyed this book, I enjoy tails of a censored future that were written decades ago. This book was more enjoyable to read for me compared to 1984 but I think 1984 is definitely a future that we are actually kinda headed for/ in. Instead of being watched constantly by force we willingly choose to be watched.
While our phones are glued to our faces we are choosing to read books less and less. They don’t need to be burned because they are getting ignored. Just in general though I know people still read. In any case as a story this was a lot more fun to read and be apart of than 1984 for me.

When I was a kid I tried to read The Last Battle because I was horse crazy and guess what? This is the ... 7th(?) book out of 7(?) so of course i didn’t finish it then because I didn’t want to read a billion books to figure what the fuck was going on. Anyway I’ve finally read it all. And it was a wonderful experience.

STARDUST 5/5
This Book Is So Gooood! I love adult fairytales! I listened to the audiobook which was narrated by Neil Gaiman himself (I swear I'm being haunted by that man).

Of Mice and Men
4/5 for me. Good book, some controversial things going on but that's expected for the time it takes place and the time it was written.
Bonus point for getting run out of my home town of Weed!

Hitchhikers Guide
I love this book, it's my second read around and this time I noticed the color yellow getting brought up a few times. Anyone know why? This time I listened to the audiobook read by Stephen Fry and he did a fantastic job. Its definitely worth a read even if you aren't into fantasy, especially now if you are into Good Omens. I got huge Hitchhikers Guide feelings when watching Good Omens. :)

Favorite book so far.
Tumblr media
If you frequent my page you’ll know that I've been working on a modified version of BBC’s 100 books to read before you die. So far I've read 11 books from that list since April and this so far is my top favorite. I know there is some controversy surrounding this book and its movie adaptation but it is an easy read with superb story telling. 5/5
I can’t decide if I like Sayuri or not, her motivations are to get her man but she kinda screws over some other characters to get him. I think actually that I like her but feel really, really bad for Nobu. Poor dude.
