It's been a while since any updates to Shard Weavers with Shoto any my IRL Husband, but life has been quite busy. We do intend to get back to it now that a bunch of life changes are settling down. I still write stuff with/about Angel and I wrote blurbs of various respinses to wol questions. I post accomplishments or /gposes from in game. I also translate things from Japanese and post them here and my personal blog, and will cross-post things.

This blog is solely XIV/WoL-based, though. ♡

As it has been... too long since I did a headcount post. I think it's time I changed that, kupo!

Angel confessed his feelings to Ice as soon as he could speak again; long before the Final Days. They then married on the next Valentione's Day.

They're absolutely going to Tural together, and he does not hide his ring nor his feelings for his husband from anyone. ♡

[Longer story under cut, (for mentions of trauma,) if interested in reading more.]

He'd lost his first love, G'raha, to the Crystal Tower, and though he never stopped feeling things for Raha, he eventually accepted that he'd never see him again in his lifetime.

He later met, fell in love with, and accepted the proposal from Taiga. His time spent with him was frought with issues from outside parties, and when he finally broke free of those and mostly recovered, they ended up assisting with the battle at Baelsar's Wall before they could truly settle down with each other.

After losing his first husband to the battle at Baelsar's Wall; among many other traumas that day; it all drove him to a terribly dark place. Ice rescued him from that place; a stranger he had never met and knew nothing about. He could've left Angel to recover alone, but he didn't. While being nursed back to health, Angel recognized the feelings he had.

So, when Angel realized how he felt, the first words he forced out were "I love you, Ice," followed by a terrible apology and attempted explanation that he'd rather say it and be rejected than not say it and lose yet another person he felt that way about.

Fortunately, Ice returned the feelings, calmed his Anxiety down, and allayed his fear.

Their relationship moved pretty fast, and this time, Angel was the one who proposed. He even managed to make the bands to be used in the ceremony.

Neither of them regret how fast it went, and Ice is probably the best thing to happen to Angel in a long time. It's because of his husband's support that he's gotten a lot better, and he knows when he has trouble with anything, Ice will be there to hold his hand through it.

It is that strong bond that kept him from losing to despair during Endwalker. His understanding of how someone can hit that point and not think twice that made it all the more difficult for him... but on the flip side, that deep understanding bolstered his resolve to make it through. He refused to give in to that dark feeling ever again, even when he felt the temptation deep, deep down.

We cleared p11s tonight! [9/1/23]

I had decided it was Azem night for me in hopes of getting this very screenshot. lol

I didn't want to Fantasia, so I just gave Angel Asopus' hair and dyed the robe white. ♡

I had fun. Happy we finally got here.

I finally got the Caster chestpiece from Orbonne after all these years thanks to my Static stacking the DPS deck. I love it so much. ♡ Thank you all so much. ; v;

The first place Angel went after setting out from Gridania was Limsa Lominsa. Not much gil to his name and in need of various things, he learned of the Fisherman's guild while on the ferry dock, thinking about what he could do. He had basic skills from childhood, but the Guild taught him more advanced techniques and tricks. With his new knowledge he could catch valuable enough fish to trade for things he needed, and had learned how to navigate new places as he explored to find water. Though he eventually learned that not everything could be traded for fish, and not everyone appreciated fish, it was how he started as an Adventurer and has gotten him spare coin or worked as barter for info or items. He still enjoys it, and rather loves the water.

Crafter-wise, he can't see very well up close, but he found comfort in weaving. He requires glasses to read, and learned that they work just as well for crafting. He practiced by making lots of stuffed toys, and repairing his own robes. He learned about different types of threads and cloth, and different styles of putting pieces together.

His primary crafter is Weaver; secondary is Culinarian. He has a basic knowledge of Alchemy thanks to his sister. (Who really took to learning everything she could about it. Enough to teach her older brother just what he needed.) Angel uses that knowledge in cooking sometimes, and it comes in quite handy for dyeing cloth as well.

As far as disliked, that's probably Miner, because ore and gems are heavy, dirty, and aren't as easily used in toys or clothes, cooking, or even alchemy as much as various plants are. That said, he doesn't particularly like or feel comfortable with any sort of metalworking, so that leaves blacksmith and armorsmith at the bottom of his list below goldsmithing. He can hold a crafting tool the right way, but much prefers to leave the hammers to those better practiced with them.

If asked, Angel would much prefer to go gather the things someone else needs to craft, because as much as he enjoys making things with cloth and thread, he gets tired after wearing his glasses for so long. It's also quite nice to know you helped someone complete something. ♡

does your wol/oc have a canon crafting/gathering job?

we all have our combat classes, of course, but is there a particular crafting or gathering job they vibe with? is it a hobby or perhaps a source of income for them? was it something they picked up prior to msq? and, for some bonus points, is there one crafter/gatherer they just cant stand?

Okay, so it might not quite be what you asked for, but I really need to share something. Have you ever had a tidbit of information you never thought would be relevant suddenly come up out of nowhere?

Because something interesting happened when I did the Rank 15 quest for the Island Sanctuary and I've really wanted to talk about it. I'll clip for Quest Text Spoilers, just in case. (It's one screenshot.)

So, a while back, I wrote up a bio for Angel to solidify ideas and focus thoughts. At that time, I thought it'd be interesting to look at locations from 1.0 that were destroyed or became inaccessible in the Calamity so that he had a very valid reason why he could never return home.

When he was young, he loved snow because it was only during a part of the year, and wasn't that bad. It was magical. (He didn't develop his fear of snow until some events in Heavensward.) This meant he'd have been born in Coerthas somewhere. He, his mother, and his little sister fled from the Garleans into the Shroud to seek refuge in Gridania where he'd meet Shoto and befriend her, so it also had to somehow have a path to The Black Shroud, and Gridania.

I was able to find some old maps and screenshots along with some info on quests that took you places to get an idea of the traffic. I settled on Clearwater, in the Coerthan Eastern Lowlands. I liked the name, it felt like a place Miqo'te could live, there was a settlement named Owl's Nest that they could trade with, and the zone had a path to the Shroud. (The connection to North Shroud was from the southern edge of the Eastern Lowlands, Pre-Calamity. Which meant anyone able to flee from the Garleans had the best chance of making it to the Shroud from that zone.)

So then, after changing to shorts from the jeans I had on Angel's Gatherers, and laughing at the character interactions, I'm given this bit of text and I kinda just sat there for a minute before I took the screenshot.

[Emmanellian's Dialog: "The weather was still rather fair when I was a youngling, so the family would go down to Clearwater Lake in the summer."]

Haurchefant and his family would go to Clearwater in the summer.

Which means there's a chance young Angel would've seen the noble family on a trip to Owl's Nest with his mother and baby sister.

It was such a weird event. A random line that they put in to reference old areas suddenly connected me and my WoL to the story just a little bit more.

I just... really wanted to tell someone. Thank you for the prompt to just ramble and be a little nerdy about my WoL. ♡

Finally kicked down the Door Boss in P8S! Subbing in to Shoto's group while my group is on break til after New Year's. ♡ Yay! I finally get some p2 practice! :D

P6S Cleared on 09/18/22! And we were able to reclear it again after two hours of P7S prog for someone who had to step away for IRL. :D

Sidenote, the Fat Cat jacket makes my tail into the fat cat bump and it confused me for a good hour til I realized what was weird about Angel. xD
