My Name. ᯓ★

I'm about to get real vulnerable on here for a minute.

I don't expect anyone to sit and read this but I wanted to let it out somewhere because I haven't been able to tell a lot of people simply because they wouldn't get it.

I identify as Transmasc, and the name has gone through a few changes, nothing drastic, I've just changed a few letters here and there.

My name is Kalem.

Pronounce like Salem but with a K :)

When choosing a new name was really hard, I first tried finding a masculine or gender-neutral name that had the same starting letter as my dead name, but none of them really fit or sounded right.

So I started looking for names that had the same starting letter as my mother, who passed away when I was really young. (I have no memories of her).

I didn't know her at all and my dad and I always thought her name started with the letter C, so I chose the name Caleb. Come to find out her name is actually spelled with a K so I simply changed it to Kaleb.

Then I found redacted asmr, and was introduced to the character Caelum.

I had to take a minute when I heard the audio and heard the name, I thought I heard Kaleb and thought I was going crazy.

I felt so connected to Caelum's character, he was so comforting and sweet and found myself listening to his audios on repeat.

The thought of changing my name again crossed my mind, I tried out the spelling but still replaced the C with K, but it didn't feel right.

So I played around with it a bit and found out I could still pronounce it the same by changing the B to an M.

and that is where I am today.

Once I had decided on Kalem, and the people around me started using it, it felt so so right!! I finally found a name that fits!

They love laying their head on David's lap to get head scratches and they have a sweet spot behind their ears. When David first discovered this, Angel was speaking and mid-sentence just trailed off and went quiet and just melted into David's hand.

Angel has meowed at David before and he was so taken aback at first,

1. because he was like "Did you just fucking meow at me?"

2. because they actually sound like a cat?!

They have both since run with the bit and essentially what I'm trying to say is that David treats Angel like a cat and they are a DogxCat couple and my mind is running with this idea.
