I just need to get this shit off my chest...

Fuck it, I'm taking a reply I made to someone earlier today and making it into a bitch fit post about the behavior of a certain portion of the ATHF fandom whom I happen to share a headcanon with, but am fucking frustrated with due to said behavior. Feel free to either scroll past or keep reading if you want, I'm not your mom and I can't make you do anything.

Now, it's no secret that people in the ATHF fandom have different interpretations of the Aqua Teens' relationship with each other. Some think of them as roommates, some think of them as two gay dads and their son, and some think of them as siblings. I, personally, prefer the third interpretation, not just because I find the Aqua Teens' dynamic to be most fun when viewed from that lens, but also because angst is my fucking drug and I just love giving the Aqua Teens ✨️daddy issues✨️.

Unfortunately, however, it seems that most fans who think this fail to understand something important about the show: that the origin story from Movie Film For Theaters is dubiously canon at best. According to Matt Maiellaro in the commentary for "MC Pee Pants" (courtesy of the Dancing is Forbidden podcast, absolutely recommend it if you love ATHF), that origin story is not official! While this does conflict with what Dave Willis said about it back in 2010, this brings me to another point: that ATHF plays very, very fast and loose with canon. So much so, in fact, that it can pretty much be whatever a fan damn well wants it to be! Hence why I still go with the origin story from the movie being how the Aqua Teens came to be, even though I know it's dubiously canon at best.

Where the fans who adamantly (and incorrectly) insist that the Aqua Teens are canonically siblings really, really go wrong, however, is when they harass Shakelock shippers and accuse them of being proshippers! Now, I've made it no secret that I don't really care much for the ship myself, but I don't go around harassing people who like it just because my headcanons would make it problematic for me to ship it, which, as I stated before, I don't! They're called headcanons for a reason, folks! And I think it's really gross to be hurling such hateful accusations at these people because, again, the Aqua Teens are not canonically siblings, and canon in ATHF can be whatever the fans damn well want it to be!

Seriously, this shit pisses me off so goddamn much!!! When I see Shakelock, I just scroll by, block the tag if I have to, and just move on with my life! I just can't imagine wasting my time harassing people over something that's ultimately nothing more than a headcanon! Life's too short to be that obsessively hateful over a ship that's only problematic if the person shipping them also headcanons them as siblings, which, as far as I can tell, almost all Shakelock shippers don't headcanon to be the case, so there's no problem with those people!

I feel like the majority of Shakelock dislikers need to learn to live and let live, because this shit is just so fucking stupid...
