Yep, April 27th is Jason Todd’s death anniversary:))

Give me a Dick Grayson who got some super annoyingly painful injury on a mission, and now he’s lounging in a family room of Wayne Manor. He’s so high on painkillers that he’s slurring his words and he can hardly move. Bruce is sitting with him, making sure he has everything he needs, adjusts his blanket every so often, gets him a new ice pack when the one he’s using melts too much.

And Dick may be high as a kite and half asleep, but Bruce has a Gotham Knights game playing on TV, and he’s awake enough to be arguing with the TV, “That wasn’t a strike! Fuck this guy!” and, “I hate the way this guy fuckin�� pitches, looks like he’s fuckin’ bowling what a weirdo.” And Bruce is trying not to laugh too much, because Dick will get upset and think he’s being laughed at. And when Dick’s favorite player gets a home run? He lets out the silliest sounding, “Yay!” that makes Bruce so nostalgic for when Dick was little and would cheer every time their team hit the ball and got on base, or would get huffy when the other team would catch a fly ball.

Dick’s knocked out before the game is over, and Bruce tucks his blanket around him and makes sure he has a full bottle of water next to him. He doesn’t leave him alone in here though, doesn’t want to leave Dick alone at all while he’s in pain. So he sleeps in the recliner and wakes up to check on Dick anytime he so much as stirs or mumbles in his sleep.

Dick wakes up at one point in the middle of the night, but it’s clear he’s still half asleep. He’s mumbling nonsense and can’t quite sit up all the way. Bruce lowers him back down onto the couch gently, slowly, as to not aggravate his injuries. He assures Dick everything is fine, it he can’t quite make out what he’s mumbling about. The painkillers give him wild, vivid dreams, so Bruce knows whatever he’s saying is probably nonsensical.

“You’re alright,” Bruce whispers, smoothing back his hair. “Go back to sleep.”

“My jaw’s gone, fell right off,” Dick mutters.

“It will be better in the morning.”

Dick lets out a huge, jaw cracking yawn, then his neck rolls to the side and he’s out like a light, drool trailing down the corner of his mouth.

Bruce keeps smoothing Dick’s hair off his forehead for a few minutes, waiting until he’s sure Dick is back asleep, before he goes back to the recliner he’d been sleeping in.

So that’s my report on my thought process when distributing these lines. As you can tell it is seriously biased and extremely reliant on MY imagination and ability to hear voices where they probably don’t fit. I know there is at least one video out there already with an AI Ateez cover of “Your Idol” (I saw it after I had already made this and I was trying to find the Saja Boys MV), however that is AI…which I feel should be explanation enough as to why I take it at much value. I have spent at least 3 days on this project, using the source material for the song, borrowing the Ateez pictures from Ateez’s Official Instagram, using the lyrics from Genius, and then editing the video to make my project as genuine as I can.

Jongho

Jongho is THE Main Vocalist. He mostly sings in the higher registers, but he can get low too. That being said, he sits with 17.04 seconds mostly because I was trying to save the HIGH high parts for him…it's just that unfortunately those parts are at the END of the song ToT. I absolutely adore Jongho so seeing that I basically just put him at the end of the song was a spear to my heart ToT. So I tried to compromise by docking some seconds from the person with the most time at the time…aka Yeosang…yeah.

Anyways, so Jongho has the second line of Pre-Chorus2 because I love a Yeosang to Jongho transition and that line slides into the higher note towards the end.

Jongho then basically owns Chorus3 with the loud, shouting, high parts and then that (hypothetically) beautiful duet with Wooyoung. His voice really brings the song to its final climax before the end and I think it’s fitting for someone as strong as him.

Wooyoung

Wooyoung is a Vocalist and, like Yeosang, is basically the one I based this project around. Wooyoung sits in first place with a beautiful 18.32 seconds.

He has lines in Verse1, Chorus1, Chorus2, and Chorus 3 along with duets with Seonghwa and Jongho. His lines in Verse1 is the split line with Seonghwa, Wooyoung has the “More than Power” part, and then the last line is the duet with Seonghwa. I can’t think of any songs where a Seonghwa&Wooyoung duet sticks out, but I think their voices would either mesh well, or contradict each other. I think if maybe Seonghwa goes a little lower, Wooyoung a little higher, or they harmonize, it would sound great.

Wooyoung then has the first 2 lines of the second half of Chorus1, putting him between Seonghwa & Hongjoong. It’s almost like a lower to higher transition. Wooyoung also has a “siren voice”, which fits perfectly for this song and it’s message.

Wooyoung has the last 2 lines of Chorus2, again coming in after Seonghwa. There’s just something about transitioning from Seonghwa to Wooyoung’s voice that sounds good to me, I don’t know what it is though. But Wooyoung’s voice closing out that Chorus before the instrumental break and then the big finale sets it all up perfectly.

His last lines are the first 2 lines in the second half of Chorus3. He transitions from Jongho’s higher/louder vocals (also giving Jongho a brief breather) and then they hit the duet together (arguably my favorite part of this). Wooyoung starts it and then Jongho joins, then Wooyoung does the cut off “You” while Jongho carries the other into that higher note. Those 2 having a duet is another “it’ll either clash or be a masterpiece” and I choose masterpiece.

Mingi

Mingi is a Main Rapper and a Vocalist (More Rapper than Vocal tho). Mingi’s focus in songs is rapping. His voice when he raps/sings is more on the growling, rough, sharp side, making it great for big Rap sections. He has done Vocal sections before (Ex. Turbulence) but again, his voice is just more fit to learn towards the rapping (Not saying his vocals are bad, he has good vocals, he just flourishes better with rapping).

Hence why I gave him the Rap section of “Your Idol” instead of giving it to Hongjoong. I also gave him the “I’ll Be Your Idol” part in the Intro after all the chanting. It was originally Yunho’s, but I wanted Mingi to have something, even if it's small, that wasn’t just the rap. That’s also why he only has 12.24 seconds, aka the shortest time.

San

San is the Lead Vocalist and also the biggest inspiration for this project as there are verses in “Your Idol” that sound similar to San’s voice. San does sit with one of the lower scores time wise, 13.42 seconds. I don’t actually know how that happened, but I think if we incorporate San’s expressive dancing and how much he moves around (and the fact he’s a main dancer), then it’s actually not too bad of a number.

San’s lines consist of the first 2 lines of the second half of Verse1 and the second half of Verse2 after the Rap section. Honestly the biggest reason he has those lines is because they sound extremely similar to his voice, especially the second half of Verse2. The light, airiness in Verse1 and then mixed with the fluctuation in Verse2 just sounds very San.

However, the fun thing about that second half of Verse2 is that it’s actually originally sung by 2 different people. I decided to give the entire half to San because he would’ve had a lot less time otherwise, and again the entire half just sounds like his voice.

Yeosang

Yeosang is a Vocalist and Rapper and kind of the one I based this entire project on… He has 16.98 seconds which is a BIG cut from what he originally had (I think it was roughly 25 seconds). I had to make the cut because I wanted everyone to be in the same range while also making sure Yeosang and Wooyoung had good times (And also because someone wouldn’t have lines at all if I didn’t ToT).

Yeosang follows mostly Abby’s lines as they are in the deeper vocal range. I know Yeosang can sing higher than we normally hear, but there was no other line where I could make it work in my head as the lines were almost TOO high. So Yeosang has the first half of Verse1 as well as the ad libs/echos. I honestly think having Yeosang as the starting voice is a GODSEND but I could also be biased…

In Chorus 1 & 2, Yeosang is again the ad libs/echos. He’s also the first line in Pre-Chorus2, Jongho is the second line in that. Yeosang originally had that whole verse, but I gave the second line to Jongho because it goes into a higher note at the end, and Jongho had like nothing yet. Pre-Chorus2 is one that I’m unsure about though. I almost want to make the entire thing Jongho’s, but I also don’t want to just dwindle Yeosang down to just Verse1 and then the ad libs/echos (I know that’s basically all he has already, but again, I’ve got a 8:5 ratio I’m working with ToT). So I’m keeping it split between them because Yeosang deserves to have more lines.

I also like to think that in the Bridge when they’re all singing, Yeosang’s voice is one of the most prominent ones. Unfortunately I’m not counting the All time in their individual times.

Yunho

Yunho is a Vocalist. He may not be a Main Vocalist, but he's usually one of the ones building up the song and doing the harmonies in the background. He builds a strong foundation for the Chorus and the times when he sings the Chorus he carries the HELL out of it. Yunho’s sitting in second place with 17.93 seconds.

He has the first Pre-Chorus and the first part of Chorus 2. His voice leading into the first Chorus gives it that strong build up, that foundation, so that’s why I picked him for that Pre-Chorus. And then for the first part of Chorus2, I was always planning on it being a different person that in Chorus1 and Yunho seemed like the right candidate as he wasn’t really working in any other spot I tried to put him. I know it looks like he doesn’t have a lot, but again, he’s sitting in second place time wise so I promise it’s fine ToT.

Seonghwa

Seonghwa is a Vocalist and a Rapper. We see him sticking to vocals most of the time, but he's definitely been branching out with his Raps in the recent Albums. Sitting at a solid 17.17 seconds reflects his vocals in this song, putting him in 3rd in the line race. With “Your Idol” having limited rap parts, Seonghwa’s been graced with vocal lines. I will say that Seonghwa and Yunho’s lines can be interchanged as I feel they have similar vocals so it wouldn’t throw the song off. The first line he has is actually a split line in Verse1, it's split between him and Wooyoung. And then Seonghwa and Wooyoung duet the last 2 lines in that Verse. Why did I split it? Well when you listen to the song, that line sounds like 2 different people (I know it's sung by 1 person in the OG). Seonghwa can sing in a lower register, and the second part of that line “more than gold” is deeper than the first part, so I put him there. I also wanted Wooyoung & Seonghwa in the first verse because they’re both strong vocalists and I think they’re a good transition from Yeosang’s deeper vocals. And then that duet at the end of the Verse is mostly because in the OG it was also a duet so I didn’t see a reason to change it.

Seonghwa then has the entire first half of Chorus1. In my head, I had originally split that half between Yunho & Seonghwa, but as I was making this and listening to the song, it just flowed better if it was just 1 person doing it, thus it is Seonghwa. Hongjoong

Hongjoong is a Main Rapper and a Vocalist. He tends to stick to his raps but has done a variety of vocals and has done them well. In “Your Idol” there is only 1 rap part and I decided to give it to Mingi instead of Hongjoong (You will see why in Mingi’s explanation). So Hongjoong has vocal parts in this song. You'll also notice he has the second shortest time sitting at 12.98 seconds. This was not intentional, and again, I was working with a 8/5 ratio so I had to get creative.

Hongjoong has the last 2 lines of Chorus1, the last 2 lines in the bridge, and the last 2 lines in Chorus3 ending out the song. The last 2 lines of Chorus 1 & 3 are basically the same, but I feel like they really fit him with the whole “I'm all you need, I will be Your Idol”, and we know how he can have possessive tendencies with atiny lol. With the Bridge, the whole “I will make you free, When you're all a part of me” line is sung by Jinu in the OG (Jinu is the leader of Saja Boys & the Main Male Lead). So to me, it felt right to have Hongjoong do that part because he is the Captain of Ateez, and if you wanted to get into the Ateez lore a little bit, Ateez’s goal was to free people from control. Granted “Your Idol” is meant to bring people under Gwi-Ma's control, but po-ta-to po-tat-o.

The lines I gave Hongjoong are also at the ends of the Chorus’ right before instrumental bits. They linger, they make an impact, they stick in your head. Hongjoong has that power, that extra umph, when he sings to leave an impression. When ending a Chorus part, you want to make sure you end strong, and even if he's not a Main Vocalist, I feel like Hongjoong can provide that strong ending.

Line Distribution Process:

I went into this knowing I wanted Yeosang and Wooyoung to have a good amount of lines (as they seem to not get many in their actual tracks), so they greatly influenced my decisions. The times you see for each member are as close an estimate I could get and I timed them all at least 5 different times. There's some lines I'm still not 100% about, but I will talk about those in a moment. Let me just preface this by saying; “Your Idol” is a 5 part song, meaning the lines were split between 5 people and it is intended for 5 people. It's also a middle-higher register song (if that makes sense…), basically meaning most of the lines and notes are sung in a middle-higher range. Ateez is a group of 8 individuals, all ranging from low to high ranges voice/singing wise, so as you may see, I had to tweak it a bit to make it semi-work. I think that covers most of that, so let's get into it going by each individual member (For sanity's sake, we're gonna ignore the parts where they all would be singing together. We will acknowledge duets tho.)

I took the song "Your Idol" from Kpop Demon Hunters and distributed lines to the Ateez members. I used the OG song because I'm not about to use AI to make an Ateez cover, so you'll just have to use your imaginations and try to see the vision here.

Now before anyone gets up in arms about it, please allow me to explain my process and how I came down to the choices I made. I will be doing this in reblogs as it will be VERY lengthy so be prepared to READ.

Just a Disclaimer, I am not a producer, singer, songwriter, or even a choir teacher etc. Really the only singing experience I have is from Elementary school music class, Band, Theater, and a little bit of Middle-High School choir.
