You called out of work today—lying that you were ill. But your behavior the entire day made it seem as if you were actually sick.
Curtains drawn shut, the air conditioning buzzing, and your room barely illuminated with the only light source being your phone which your eyes were glued to. You were trying to consume as much media as you could to forget. You were determined to erase the pain even if it meant doing it in an unhealthy way because you refuse to talk to her first. It was childish yes, but she too was giving you the cold shoulder so it is only right for you to do the same.
The reason why you and Sae-byeok became friends was because of your broad similarities with her—you both have a soft spot for the mundane and lack social skills. But your similarities is what ultimately brought conflict in your complex friendship with her.
She hurt you with words and you also wished to hurt her in the heat of the moment. It’s been a few days since you’ve heard from her.
You hate how recurring the vivid scenario of that night keeps boring into your head. It’s a blurred memory but you remember the malevolent look in her eyes. It went like this: you had her for dinner, well aware of her frugal lifestyle and she easily accepts your invitation as this was a frequent occurrence—you inviting Sae-byeok for dinner. But as you, your parents and her silently ate, your mom made the big mistake of bringing up her past. More specifically about her being a defector. Once dinner was awkwardly over, your best friend pulled you aside to confront you—and she was pissed, completely red in the face and eyes darkly intense. You get why she was upset that you told your parents about her personal life without her knowledge, you could own up to that but just as you were about to, Sae-byeok said harsh things about your character. So, you said harsher things. And you both stormed off with this heated tension and snappy thoughts. Maybe for a brief second, you two despised each other.
As you scrolled through your phone, you heard the rain gradually become louder as the raindrops became thicker and more intense. The wind sounded like it could fight back and you were just glad you didn’t go to work today and having to deal with this weather.
The sound of an upcoming thunderstorm was making you feel more lethargic. At some point, your phone slips off your hand and softly landed in your chest as you began to fall asleep. In your quest to fall into slumber, you focused on listening to the environmental noise outside as it soothed your anxious mind. It wasn’t until the sound of rain mixed with familiar banging noises that you felt an irregular presence lurking.
You spring up from your bed, your heartbeat racing as you try and figure out if the banging noise was real or all in your head.
It was real—and it’s coming from your window. Your heart sinks knowing the inevitable truth that will be revealed when you open up your curtains. You approach your window with caution and brace yourself for another intense moment.
As you expected, Sae-byeok was on the other end, crouching on the small ledge that barely supported someone as tall as her. She was hugging her middle, glancing down at her lap, and completely drenched.
It hurt you seeing her like this because it meant that she became so desperate to the point she had to bruise her ego and pride to come to you like this—weak and cold. And even if she hurt you, you couldn’t find it in yourself to close the curtain and pretend she wasn’t there.
You avoid looking in her direction after pulling up your window. The sound of her wet shoes squeaking against your bedroom floor and her shaky breath made you concerned. Like Sae-byeok, you weren’t much of an affectionate person and that’s one of the many things you have in common with her but in this moment you wished you knew the ways to console her—even after everything that went down. Instead, you just go back to hide underneath your blanket, cowering. While you heard her rustling in your drawer looking for a change in clothes, your thoughts travel back to the idea of giving her a warm embrace after she wrestled with the thunderstorm outside.
But the problem is, you and Sae-byeok never were physically affectionate. Sometimes your hands would brush against each other when you passed each other things and if you two were riding the subway or the bus, your thighs might touch—but that’s as far as it went. In movies and shows, you would always see female friendships be so touchy and connect with each other on a deeply emotional level. You didn’t have that with her but it was a mutual agreement. Neither of you craved for that—that’s what you convince yourself to believe.
You feel the weight of the mattress sink down, so you turn around so your back would be back her. Today, you don’t want to confront her about the argument and you’re sure she feels the same. So, you wanted to go to sleep and forget the fact that she slipped under your covers with you only a few inches away. But you kept imagining what it would be like to feel her—are her hands naturally warm or cold? You scold yourself for thinking this way and you’re frightened that you cannot stop these scenarios from popping up.
This conflict was starting to overwhelm you, her overall presence was suffocating. You shut your eyes, expecting this’ll be how you end your day—however, you feel her press against your chest slowly, waiting for you to silently approve of this unexpected touch. When you don’t move nor speak, she hovers her trembling cold hands on your waist. Goosebumps trickle your skin feeling her press her hand on top of your waist. You might actually be fever dreaming.
She freezes in this position for a few minutes before tucking her chin between the nape of your exposed neck. You could feel her erratic breathing fan the side of your face. It was strange, you didn’t know how to react so you remain solid.
She holds her breath when she gets the idea of tracing soothing circles—she couldn’t help herself your touch was magnetic. It was the missing puzzle to make this friendship work—physical touch. Her hesitant and slow touches became more needy when you kept being unresponsive, like you purposefully wanted to drive her insane.
“What are you doing?” you manage to whisper.
“I don’t know.” Sae-byeok quietly admits.
This bizarre exchange made you wonder if this was possibly her way to say she is sorry. And if it was, you wonder if it’s enough. Sae-byeok was never a woman of words, so this meant a magnitude of apologies. You really feel like you’re in a dream state now.
Her fingers began fiddling with the ends of your shirt, trying to figure out how to naturally touch your bare skin without frightening you. When she finally wraps her arm around your bare waist and pulled you closer, her intentions were pure. They were right from the beginning—and that’s when you figured it out: Sae-byeok was touch deprived.
“You aren’t stupid—I didn’t mean it.” Sae-byeok spoke up, making your heart skip a beat at the sudden drop.
“I didn’t mean it either.” you mumble. “You aren’t insensitive.”
You finally get the courage to turn around in your bed. When you look at her, you see it in her face—the hurt. Her disregarded chapped and slightly red lips, pale freckled face, and her heavy red gaze. You thought she wasn’t going to be affected by what happened—remembering that she said she was fine with letting you go for being to selfish.
This time, you’re the first one to reach out and touch her. You run your fingers through her slightly moist unruly hair and frame her loose strands away from her face. She observes the way your eyes flicker carefully and revels in this soft moment. Neither of you ever thought that each others touch would be so electrifying.
Sae-byeok’s true gesture of apology was when she pushed your hand away from her face to gain access to your lips after fighting an internal battle with herself to not do it. She kissed you briefly, barely hovering over your lips to not completely abrupt you. But you felt enough to want more. You grab her by the back of her head to make her collide her lips fully with yours.
It started off careful and guarded, both your minds still trapped in the thoughts of your argument. When you feverishly began trailing your hand down to the nape of her neck and rub gentle circles that’s her movements became needy and hungry. She moved her lips against yours like she was running out of time. She slowly starts hovering above you, you use it as an opportunity to explore her. You run your hands up to her face and down to her waist, pulling her even closer till she was basically laying on top of you—getting the full scent of rain off of her hair and skin.
Neither of you knew what possessed each other to kiss with such fervor and neediness, but it was clear you both were craving to connect with someone deeply like this.
After minutes of purely making out, the two of you pull away and stare at each other with half lidded eyes. Your breaths mingled with many things still left unsaid, yet it didn’t matter now.
She rolls off you and lays down next to you, staring at the ceiling deep in her thoughts now. Your eyes had a hard time looking away from her swollen lips.
“Thank you.” she mutters after silence overtook your room. You stare at her with concern. “For everything—not just…for not pushing me away. I know I’m not an easy person to deal with.”
“You don’t have to thank me—I would do it all again if…it leads up to this.” you timidly confess to her.
You see the pink bloom in her cheeks while she tries to avoid your eyes. “Me too.” she says gently.
Her hands reach out to grab yours and you easily intertwine your fingers with hers. Now that the tension is long gone, you two share the comfort of each other as you listened to the rainfall.

VIOLETS FOR ROSES, Kang Sae-byeok x fem reader
Tumblr media
In which, whilst her mother helps Cheol with his homework, Sae-byeok invites you out for a walk along the sand - revelling in the peace, you mentally look back at all the triumphs you overcame together to get to this point.
Tumblr media
You get up from your seat at the dinner table, taking you and Sae's plates to the sink with one hand. She sits and watches as you go, mindlessly staring with such tender eyes. Sae-byeok was never one for romanticism, but sometimes, she didn't realise how infatuated she was appearing out of pure habit. She was new to all this - the intensity, the calm, the warmth. She was new to unconditional love.
But with you, it was so easy now - like you'd always been in her orbit, and simply always would be. She had accepted now that you were in it together, and you had somehow made it together, too. That she could have more than just her brother and her mom - that she deserved it.
She turned her gaze back to the table in-front of her - meeting her mom's knowing expression with a scoff.
Mrs Kang had never seen her daughter this way - she'd been through so much, they all had - she wondered if anything would turn out okay, In the end. But there you were - the family miracle.
After spending nights in the city, sleeping in train stations and pickpocketing with Sae-byeok by your side, you finally worked your way to the top. You got a good job eventually, and an apartment of your own whilst Sae sorted out things with her family. When she'd finally got her mother back, you'd already worked out the funds for the small beach house you shared now.
Back then, Sae-byeok was all you had - sitting on benches with your sleeves in one another's pockets, just trying to keep warm and stick together. Then, she let you meet Cheol, and your circle grew. It was just the three of you for a long time, until...it wasn't. And in the blink of an eye, you had a family.
"Thank you for dinner, Mrs Kang," You say politely, a smile scrawled across your face as you run the dishes under the tap lightly.
"No problem, dear," She says, in that sweet tone she always adorned.
Just then, Cheol bursts into the room, tugging at his mother's elbow to get her to help him with something. He waves a sheet of printed paper in the air, dropping his pencil in the action. She obliges with a chuckle and leads him into the next room, where the writing desk was.
You look back at Sae-byeok, the ghost of a smile on her face as she returns your stare back to you. She gets up slowly, grabbing two empty glasses to put beside the sink.
She grabs a tea towel to start drying the dishes that you wash, picking them up as you put them down. It was a silent task, but there was nothing awkward about it. That was a lot of your relationship - comforting quiet moments that rung on for echoes after their initial impact. You were perfectly pestered by one another's existence - fulfilled just by breathing the same air.
You find your eyes wandering to her careful, soft hands as she rubs circles on a plate with the cloth - drying it with such care and concentration. That was the effort she seemed to put into everything, and though the normal, restless eye might miss it - you caught every shrug, every brush of the finger, every expression of hers; all laced with such delicacy that no one else could see.
"What?" she asks softly, her lips turning into a slight grin.
You shake your head, looking strictly back down at the damp fork in your hand.
"You're so calming to watch."
She shrugs lightly, as if to say so what? But with her inevitable arrogance, there's a warm smile on her sun-spotted face.
The two of you continue on, just standing together doing some simple dishes - the sunlight of the golden hour illuminating your faces in a soft, sunburnt orange.
"You wanna go a walk, later?" She asks, unusually upfront about it.
"I'd love to." you reply, unplugging the drain from the bowl of dishwater, just watching as It filters down softly.
Tumblr media
The beach is a perfect bridge between warm and cold. The breeze pushes past the two of you haphazardly, hence the slight chill - but your feet stayed warm, half in the water, half out. With one hand, you clutched your shoes with your socks stuffed into the soles, and with the other, Sae-byeok's hand.
"Cheol's invited to a birthday party, next week," she tells you quietly.
"Really?" You ask, your voice laced with excitement. You were both so protective over that boy, it was unbelievable.
She just nods, her eyes creasing with relief.
"I think he really likes it here." she says.
"Yeah," you let out a breathy laugh, "He loves the beach, that's for sure."
Somehow, you knew that there was more to what she was actually saying. That maybe, she didn't just mean Cheol.
"I think it's a great place for everyone." you add.
You look out onto the sea, watching as the waves fall over one another time and time again.
Suddenly, a lap of realisation hits you, and you revel in this calm that had felt so out of place before. Sae looks at you as you take it all in - it was over.
All that shit that you'd been through, the fights, the crimes, scrounging for money - you had finally made it. You had made a life for yourself that you were proud of.
"What are you thinking about?" she asks, her tone abbreviated with patience.
"I don't know." You huff, trying to rack your brain for a way to explain it. "I'm just thinking about how far we've come."
She hums, looking out in the same direction as you.
"I'd do it all again, you know."
The addmitance surprises you - she'd never been so abrupt about her affections. But nothing had ever felt so genuine as this simple statement.
"I'd do it all just to get here." She continues, avoiding your heavy, emotional gaze with a simple dismissal. Your mind clears of the past just then - your only focus being the freckles on her cheeks, moving slightly as she talked. It had always been her, even before you knew it yourself.
You felt Sae-byeok nudge your shoulder playfully, almost pushing you into the water with a simple tap of contact. With a sly smile on her lips, she acts as if nothing had happened.
You snap, returning the favour a little harsher this time. Soon, it turns into a competition - you're pushing one another playfully in a brawl of arms and intertwined fingers.
You realise too late that Sae-byeok is much too strong for you, and you almost topple into the water - but not before clinging to her shirt for dear life, bringing you both down onto the soft, wet sand. The remnants of a crashing wave flows around you - only around a centimetre deep but arriving with the ability to absolutely soak you.
You scream playfully as she props her body over you, looking down so mischievously into your eyes.
She leans down, placing soft quick kisses all over your face - pecking you over and over again.
You struggle to get away, holding her now soaked hair with your hands as she presses more kisses to your nose, cheeks and forehead - and eventually, your lips.
"Okay! Okay, you win," you squeal, smiling.
"I always do," she remarks, watching rightfully as blush spreads across your cheeks.
She leans down again as another wave hits you, the sky now a shy pink.
Her lips meet yours for longer this time, a deep soulful kiss connecting the both of you as you lay under the sun. Her hands grip sweetly at your waist, pulling at the now heavy fabric from the weight of the water.
She pulls away, your noses brushing up against one another; the hot mark of her breath lingering on your mouth.
"Hi." you say simply, earning a laugh from her.
"Hi," she replies, smiling - already leaning down to kiss you again.
She pulls away, getting up on her knees - holding out a hand to help you up.
"C'mon, loser." She jokes simply as you take her hand.
"If losing means you kiss me like that, then I'll happily be a loser." You tell her as she rolls her eyes sarcastically.
"So sappy."

I think a lot of squid game fans just don't think. Immediately, I never thought anything wrong with him choosing to try and end the games because it was the right thing to do. It might not have been an easy decision for him but that was the point - he was choosing saving others over his own happiness.
I'm not sure why that's not obvious to some lol
actually the main reason i think gi-hun is a good person despite his flaws is because of this:
after all that happened in the first games and he was able to go home with the money to pay for his mothers treatment, he found his mother dead. any other person would be broken and would have likely ended their life at some point or become completely destroyed.
but what does he do? he picks himself up and once he realizes the games are still going on, he dedicates his life to making sure no one else has to go through this.
yet people want to complain about him not getting on that plane. yes his daughter deserves to have her father in her life, but her life isn’t threatened and she has a stable support system. he was willing to actively risk his life to save hundreds of others from death and trauma.
Tumblr media
i dont care what yall say. gi hun has a good heart and doesn’t deserve some of the hate he gets.

DELICIOUSSSSSSS AHHHHHHHH this is so amazing you make my day with ur uploads
JUST MEET ME AT THE APT.— K. SAE-BYEOK
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
Tumblr media
synopsis: managing a rising rock band is already chaotic enough, but when you're stuck touring with four reckless musicians, things get even messier. between late-night facetime calls, teasing that feels a little too knowing, and a certain guitarist who might just be your biggest problem, keeping things professional is getting harder by the second. but hey, no one said the music industry was easy.
warnings: mutual pining, intense eye contact, teasing that borders on flirting (or maybe it is flirting), friends who refuse to mind their business, secondhand embarrassment, slow burn that burns, emotional whiplash
playlist: spotify
Tumblr media
You hadn’t spoken to Sae-Byeok since that night.
Hadn’t texted her. Hadn’t looked at her.
You had barely even spoken to the others.
The moment—that moment—kept replaying in your head like a broken record.
Jisoo, leaning in. Sae-Byeok, standing there, not moving. Their lips meeting.
You hadn’t waited to see what happened next.
You couldn’t.
Because it didn’t matter.
All that mattered was that you had seen it.
And it made you sick.
The others had noticed.
Of course, they had.
You weren’t exactly subtle with your avoidance—ignoring Sae-Byeok in rehearsal, keeping conversations short, disappearing into your room the second practice was over, skipping out on group dinners.
And they weren’t letting it slide.
“Alright,” Ji-Yeong announced, dropping onto the couch beside you, a bowl of popcorn in her lap. “We need to talk.”
You didn’t look up from your phone. “No, we don’t.”
Se-Mi plopped down on your other side, throwing a pillow at you. “Yes, we do.”
You sighed, rubbing your temples. “Guys—”
“Listen.” Ji-Yeong turned to face you, crossing her legs. “We’re not saying you have to talk to Sae-Byeok, but, like… you at least need to stop acting like a ghost. It’s depressing.”
No-Eul, sitting across from you on the floor, leaned back on her hands. “And honestly? It’s annoying. We get that you’re upset, but shutting down completely isn’t gonna help.”
You stayed silent.
Because what could you even say?
That it wasn’t just about what you saw?
That it wasn’t just about Sae-Byeok kissing Jisoo—but about the fact that you had let yourself believe in something that was never real?
That you had let yourself hope—stupidly, blindly—that Sae-Byeok wanted you in the same way you wanted her?
And that now, the thought of facing her made your chest feel like it was caving in?
Instead, you just muttered, “I’m fine.”
Se-Mi groaned. “You are so full of shit.”
Ji-Yeong threw a piece of popcorn at you. “Just talk to her.”
“No.”
No-Eul raised an eyebrow. “So, what? You’re just gonna ignore her forever?”
You hesitated.
Because you didn’t know.
You didn’t know how to look at Sae-Byeok without feeling like your stomach was twisting in knots.
Didn’t know how to not hear Jisoo’s voice in your head, saying, I miss you, over and over again.
Didn’t know how to act normal when everything felt so far from normal.
“I just…” You exhaled, gripping the pillow in your lap. “I need time.”
Ji-Yeong exchanged a look with Se-Mi.
No-Eul sighed, running a hand through her hair. “Fine. But don’t take too long.”
You frowned. “Why?”
Ji-Yeong leaned forward, her voice softer now.
“Because she looks just as miserable as you do.”
Your chest tightened.
But you didn’t say anything.
You just let the moment replay in your mind again.
And again.
And again.
It took a while, but eventually, you decided to stop sulking.
You weren’t fully okay, but at the very least, you were tired of sitting in your own misery, replaying the same moment over and over in your head like it was some kind of torture loop.
So, for the first time in days, you left your room.
You had been looking for Ji-Yeong—not for anything serious, just to ask if she still had your charger, since yours had mysteriously disappeared (again). But as you wandered through the venue’s backstage hallways, you didn’t find Ji-Yeong.
You found her.
Sae-Byeok.
And she was crying.
Very, very quietly.
So quietly that you almost didn’t notice.
She was sitting on the floor in one of the side hallways, half-hidden behind a stack of unused chairs. Her head was bowed, hands gripping at the fabric of her hoodie, shoulders trembling slightly.
You froze.
You had never seen Sae-Byeok cry before.
Not once.
Not when she was angry, not when she was frustrated, not even when things got really bad.
But here she was, curled into herself, breaking apart in silence.
And it hurt to see.
More than you expected.
More than you wanted to admit.
You hesitated.
You could walk away.
She hadn’t seen you yet. You could turn around, pretend you never saw this, let her have her moment in peace—
But your feet were already moving before you could talk yourself out of it.
Slowly, cautiously, you stepped closer.
“Sae-Byeok?”
She flinched.
Her head snapped up, eyes wide, red-rimmed, like a deer caught in headlights. For a moment, she just stared at you, frozen, like she wasn’t sure if you were real.
Then she quickly wiped at her face, clearing her throat. “What are you doing here?”
You ignored the question.
Instead, you crouched down in front of her, lowering yourself to her level.
She turned her head away, as if trying to hide. “Go away.”
Your chest tightened. “No.”
Sae-Byeok let out a shaky breath, her hands clenching into fists. “I don’t—”
Her voice cracked.
And that was it.
That was all it took for you to reach out, hesitating only for a second before gently placing your hand over hers.
She stiffened.
Didn’t move.
Didn’t pull away.
You swallowed hard. “Talk to me.”
She exhaled, slow and uneven. “You hate me.”
You frowned. “I don’t—”
“I saw your face that night.” Her voice was raw, barely above a whisper. “You looked at me like I was nothing.”
Your heart ached.
“Sae—”
“I didn’t kiss her,” she said suddenly.
You inhaled sharply.
Sae-Byeok finally looked at you, and the pain in her eyes was staggering. “She kissed me. And I pushed her off. I told her to fuck off. I—I tried to run after you, but you—” She let out a shaky laugh, bitter and broken. “You were already gone.”
Your head spun.
You had spent so many nights replaying what you saw, convincing yourself that it was all that mattered.
But you had never stopped to ask.
Never stopped to think that maybe—just maybe—there was more to the story than what you had let yourself believe.
Sae-Byeok turned her hand over beneath yours, gripping your fingers tightly. Desperately.
“I don’t want her,” she whispered. “I want you.”
Your breath caught.
The weight of everything—the distance, the silence, the nights spent aching—settled between you.
And in that moment—
You realized you didn’t want to be angry anymore.
You just wanted her.

BATHROOM INTERVAL, Kang Sae-byeok x fem reader
Tumblr media
After the marble game, where you had both chosen different partners in result of an argument - you and a trembling Sae byeok re-convene in the quietest place you can think of.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The room was reverberating with guilt.
You had been let back into the dorm early, after being one of the first to finish the game. Sat across from Han Min-yeu, player 212 - you had nothing to do but reimagine your actions, over and over.
You couldn't get it out of your head, the prayers he repeated over and over as they raised the gun - the cold barrel clicking into motion so desperately.
It had been easier for you - you had hated who you'd partnered up with. But the guilt was somehow heavier that way - like you'd wished the experience into existence.
Your leg bounced up and down, your chest convulsing at thoughts of you and Sae's last conversation.
"Did you mean what you said, earlier? About not trusting anyone?"
Sae-byeok blinks in confusion, turning to face you with blankness written all over her face.
"I thought we were trusting each other. I thought that's what this is." You state, gesturing a pointer finger between the two of you. She looked down at your hand, like she was unable to fathom ever being lumped into the same pit as you, let alone share a relation with you.
This surprised you - though she'd been distant and quiet, she'd done nothing but effortlessly protect you in every game - even in the fight after lights out, the first thing she did was find you.
"This is nothing. We are nothing."
The words sting, even though there's no obligation for her to be nice. She was right, you were nothing - but it still hurt all the same just realising it. That even caring was painful, because you just wanted it to be true. You wanted there to be an 'us', though you'd never admit it.
Then, you watched Sae-byeok pick ji-yeong instead of you, and again...it hurt.
You were terrified she'd be the nice one, worried she'd take the blame and die for jiyeong - or just lose a fair game. Either way, it didn't matter. You'd still have left it on bad terms, and you hated to admit that you cared for the girl...but you couldn't deny it. Not if you tried. But apparently, Sae was an expert at that.
An angry buzzer sounded out over the room as the door opened, the remaining players filtering through to the dorm looking groggy and horrified.
You immediately stood from your bed, scanning the crowd for her.
Then, sure enough, your eyes caught her, and you let out a breath you didn't know you were holding.
You started to walk towards her, but stopped a few feet away - unsure if she'd even be happy to see you. She looked horrible - she was trembling, tears cascading down her soft, irritated cheeks. Her eyes flicked up, and when she was met with you standing there, waiting, it all became too much.
Her silence was loud, but only to you - as she took a step forward and wrapped her arms around you in a hug she so desperately needed.
The world seemed to stop - the only thing evident to you being her. She sniffled quietly into your ear as her clenched fists curled around your back, her mind struck with discomfort.
And in this moment, you saw not the cool, effortless, independent Sae-byeok, but the little girl who'd entered because she just wanted her family back. She wanted someone to keep her safe, like they used to when she was a child.
All you could do was try to be that - and as you continued to worry if you were doing anything right, that fear subsided into something much more contented. because the first time you'd felt calm in this place, was right now. With her weight on yours.
Her hair brushed softly against your cheek as she continued to make small, almost silent sounds of sadness.
"It's okay, I'm," you faltered. Was it going to be okay? "I'm here."
She shut her eyes, nose pressed up against the emerald blue of your jersey - taking in every bit of you for herself.
The other players, too distraught to watch, thought of their partners who didn't make it. It was the most solemn room you'd ever been a part of.
You ushered Sae into the bathroom, where you'd have a chance to clean her up a little. You were hurt, and scared too, but she was your top priority.
The two of you sat against the narrowing walls, facing each other with your knees bent up. You're close enough to allow your hands to accidentally brush every few minutes, and sae doesn't seem to mind too much. She hadn't had someone care this much in a long time.
"We shouldn't be doing this." she says with unease, looking down at the floor.
"The guards can kick us out if it comes to that." you shrug, your words carefully soft - like she might shatter any minute.
She shakes her head regretfully, her body recoiling a little.
"No."
You wait for her to continue, knowing she will. You knew now that the main thing Sae-byeok needed was patience - and someone that will not stop trying. You had decided that you'd be this person, for the time being.
"I can't get close to you."
She swallows hard, still refusing to make eye contact. Her consciousness is in ruins, and she really looks the part.
"I can't watch what...I can't see that happen to you."
She likes your presence, but feels so loomed over by guilt and fear that it consumes her every waking thought. She enjoys the comfort you provide, but to accept it is slowly killing her.
Your fingers find hers in a loose grasp, the contact triggering something warm inside her as she turns her attention to your face, admiring you through her dark lashes.
"I'm sorry about Ji-yeong." you say - her eyes beginning to well with tears at the mention of the name.
"But no matter how hard you try to push me away, it's not going to work. Because I'm staying right here."
Your words take her aback profoundly - she feels small, but in a way she'd never been before. She felt easy to love, because you were making it look so effortless.
"We're winning this shit together whether you like it or not. We'll go wherever you want."
"Jeju." she blurts, her brain unable to comprehend words.
"Jeju?"
"She promised we'd go together."
You nodded, your grip on her hand only tightening.
"Jeju it is."
The room goes silent, but it's not awkward at all. It''s the complete opposite - though somewhat sultry, its also comforting and gentle to the both of you as you try to work through what you've been through, and what you'll likely go through next. What if you did lose one another?
"Can I ask you something?" she mumbles, her eyes now fixated on your interlocked fingers, just existing together like the world wasn't falling to pieces outside of your control.
You hum in agreement, unsure of the weight her words might have.
"When we get out," she swallows, "Promise me we'll stick together?"
You take a sharp breath in, your lips upturning into the most sorrow ridden smile anyone might have expressed. It was so out of character of Sae to act like this, but you liked it. You liked when she showed more of herself to you.
The tension in the room arose as you leaned closer toward her, your words unmistakable from here.
"I promise." You tell her - faith and trust written in your eyes like stars. Sae-byeok couldn't tell what she was feeling at all - the love so new and unfamiliar in this sort of way. But when you reached closer and kissed her gently, she finally understood.
She lifted her hand to your cheek, taking in as much of you as she could through the slow kiss. She exhaled through her nose as you pressed deeper into the kiss, her content nature so newly accepting of your care.
You broke away, inches away from her face. Her eyes explore your expression as you lift both thumbs to wipe tears from her cheeks - hearing banging on the door.
The gaurds were getting antsy - but you didn't care. You just wanted her to be okay.

girldad gihun and angsty daughter sae-byeok COME BACK TO ME
Little AU where it's Sae-byeok that runs into Gi-hun in Seoul in S1E2, instead of Il-nam, and Gi-hun gets to apologize for hassling her about the money and she shares her Ramen with him. He asks her if she's old enough to drink and she scoffs and pours herself some soju. They play the bottle cap game.
They talk about the games.
Sae-byeok says she's going back. She reluctantly sums up her situation, without any real details, and Gi-hun returns the show of trust by telling his story too.
They make their agreement early. If one gets through it and the other doesn't, they'll help each other’s family.
She's even more of a daughter figure to him in the games and her death is that much more devastating.

What the fanfic-writing process has become;
Finish reading a fanfic and feel awful about one's own writing then proceed to try and create works "as good as" that story. Or try to replicate that authors writing.
Scroll through social media for what fandoms are popular right now to see where you can join and get your writing seen.
Take in every piece of writing advice there is and then stress, trying to create an award-worthy fanfic story.
Crying because you can't describe your bedroom scene the way your fave fanfic writer did in their story; or because you can't describe your character's facial features like the way the advisors of writing on Tumblr said you should.
I must include this and exclude that to get my fanfic-writing respected and seen
I'm nervous about whether others will like or hate my work when I share
I don't wanna write, I have no inspo, but I must write cause I'm in this fandom that's hot right now and all my fellow writers in said fandom are posting
What fanfic-writing started as and should be;
You enjoy a piece of media, art, song, etc., you're hungry for more and so you write an extension of the universe to include stuff you wanted to see, that the original creator didn't include. No rules, no standards, and no restrictions.
Excited to just write and share a work. If others love it, it's a plus
If you want to write excellent fanfics, that's very fine as long as you're having fun and you're not stressed.
