Hello, Mr. Gaiman. Fat chance you'll see this, but do you have any advice for aspiring trad authors? I wanna be peak successful. Really leave my mark on the writing community & the world. How would I go about doing that? Could you break it down in, say, ten steps? Or perhaps just share some words of wisdom?
1) write your own books. Don't try to be like anyone else.
2) Write your own books. When you finish writing a book, start the next one.
3) Write your own books. Don't worry about the rest of the writing community only about yourself and what you make
4) write your own books. It's not a competition.
5) write your own books. Say the things only you can say.
6) Write your own books. Don't get bogged down in the commercial success or failure of a book in the long term. All that matters is the artistic success or failure of what you made.
7) Write your own books all the way to the end. So many frustrated and failed writers don't get through step one, where they finish writing books people might want to read.
8) write your own books.

a short, slightly depressing essay i wrote for a short film project - it’s supposed to mimic the feeling of a recorded interview
christmas time
people come together
i don’t think people realise what coming together means for me.
its like this deep visceral reaction
the pit at the bottom of my stomach
i’m not… myself anymore
its like i can see out of my eyes
but my brain doesn’t control my body
i try my best to make them all happy
i get quite scared when people get angry
so i just do whatever it takes to keep them happy
even if it rips me apart

Blog introduction post or something...
Hello, first some information about me:
My name is Thea, pronouns are she/her (maybe they?), I’m acespec, arospec, and autistic. I speak German and English and I am trying to learn how to speak Italian and Swedish. I’m a big fan of the fantasy genre and like to read, write, draw, play the piano, and occasionally play video games. I also love birds and science.
Now, this blog is supposed to be about my WIPs, I want to share my writing and also maybe some of my art (and maybe music? We’ll see). Since I’m not really used to putting my writing out there, it’s going to take a bit before I really start to post about it. For now, I will also post and reblog stuff about the things I love on here (might move that to a different blog in the future, who knows).
Anyway, here’s a short overview about some of the stuff I’m currently working on:
Galidean: A fantasy series that was supposed to be a trilogy but has grown into a much longer series. But I guess that is what happens when you look a three different projects and think to yourself "wouldn't it be hilarious if the took place in the same setting". So, the sereis can be divided into three different "eras" with their own little "main plot", but there is also a plotline running through all of them mostly in the background.
A hundred years after the joined victory over the Dark Sun, the human nations gather together in celebration. Future leaders attend a journey through each other's home, during which it becomes clear that scorching raids have left their marks over all the territories. With no apparent culprit, a prince, an orphan, a lord, and a sorcerer band together to find the power that turns banishment into death. With the help of a friend and a sibling, they start chasing mysteries and legends across the world, unaware that they all take root from the wounds of the world itself.
Old Gods: A fantasy series consisting of 3 – 4 books, while I also wanted it to be horror, that part has gotten somewhat lost while developing it. Oh well.
Cyr was young when the war started, he was young when he joined it and he was not so young anymore when the enemy captured him. After four years of imprisonment, he comes to terms with his inevitable fate. Surrounded by enemies, hated by his allies, stripped of his magic and will, there is no escape for him. While the voices and visions invade both day and night, Cyr prepares for his final day. His only true solace is the new courtesan who has endless stories of hope and rebirth to tell him.
The Human in Us: An urban fantasy series, that really is just two characters and my investment in their relationship in a trench coat. All started by me looking at different supernatural YA stories and going “wonder how I would do that”.
Students, alcohol and an abandoned house should have been the set-up for a fun, maybe spooky anecdote in their future. It should not twist and turn and talk, it should not turn nightmares real, it should not make Josephine’s hallucinations even more vivid and grotesque. Yet it does, and one month later, a burning girl appears to give her an envelope containing an address and a promise of answers.
There Are Voices In the Void: A sci-fi horror story, set in the same setting as a different sci-fi project of mine, but story-wise not connected to it.
While investigating a nebula, the scientists of the crew gather samples of cosmic dust, finding an unknown organism on it. The head biologists determines it to be deceased and proceeds with further testing. The death of two of his colleagues soon afterwards is just the beginning of the nightmare.
Little Remains: A bit of crime fiction/thriller, that happened by me looking at YA mystery series and going “wonder how I would do that”.
Detective Morgan has worked on many gruesome cases in the past, most of them took place in bigger cities with an anonymous population. When a teenage girl is found dead in the fields of a small town nearby, Morgan first assumes an outsider to be the murderer of the unidentified victim. However, with the murder of a local student a few days later, even the tight-knit community quickly realises that one of them is far more familiar with the gruesome case than the rest of them. Unwilling to sit back, the student’s friends start their own investigation, while Morgan begins to struggle with old ghosts.
Also, I'm writing this introduction while sick, so some of this might not make much sense. I caught the part where I wrote "animals" instead of "enemies" but I no doubt missed something.

hi! :)
a writeblr introduction
Tumblr media
helllooo & welcome to this lil account of mine! so my name is osiris and i'm relatively new to tumblr (i've tried to ease my way into the community multiple times to no avail), and as a writer i thought i'd try my hand at making some friends in the community as a way to grow and improve my writing!
about me
i'm an computer science and english student
I'm 18, and a gemini
he/him
marvel & game of thrones lover
fantasy, sci-fi, & romance writer
lover of lana del rey and autumn
some goals
use tumblr as way of sticking to a wip 👀
write more regularly and frequently
dip my toes into screenwriting & filmmaking
interact with the amazing people of this community and make friends <3
to learn how to engage in fantasy roleplay and learn how to play dungeons & dragons
writing
my current wip is a political war fantasy with sci-fi elements and it's currently in the outline stage
i would like to get better at worldbuilding and creating more expansive and fleshed out worlds like asoiaf and cosmere
i write fantasy & sci-fi but i also have a soft spot for romance, psychological thrillers, and spy stories.
one of my main goals is to write one of the most heart-wrenching, angsty corruption arcs
I've never actually had a successful NaNoWriMo...
would love to do beta reading and critiquing to help improve both of our writing!
also a sucker for any epic fantasy, dark fantasy, sci-fi, corruption or redemption arcs, stories where the villains are the main character (especially this!!!), and an ACTUAL enemies to lovers trope
if your wips feature any of these ^^^ things, then reblog this with your wip details/page because i'd love to check it out!
and with all that being said.....
i am sooo looking forward to meeting you guys! <3

Writeblr Introduction
Hi everyone! I'm new to the writeblr community, and I've seen that a lot of writeblrs have introduction posts, so here's mine!
***
Tumblr media
My name is Apple! I've been writing forever, but I eventually lost motivation with it, as my work kept piling up. I'm at Uni now, and I want to get back into writing!
Genres~
My favourite genres are Apocalypse, Fantasy, and Science Fiction - my love being Science Fiction! Usually the things I write are a weird mix of the three. I also enjoy reading these! I really don't like romance, so all of my work will not be romance based, or will have small romantic sub-plots.
WIP~
I have a lot of WIPs that I need to start, but the idea is there! (The problem with most of my work is that it just stays in my head!!) My current WIP is a Vampire detective noir set in a futuristic, blade runner-esque city. It is a mix of blade runner (as referenced before!!), matrix, and your classic detective-noir movies. I was also inspired by the game 'The Wolf Among Us' - I love how they mix classic fairytales with the gritty, gruesome backdrop of a corrupt city. Many of my works are inspired by video games!
Books I'm reading and recommend~
I am currently reading 'In the Miso Soup' by Ryu Murakami, and I'm loving it so far!! I love weird and strange books, so this murder mystery really gripped me within the first few pages. I can't wait to find out what happens next! (Also, I did pick this up to look at because of the cover!! Don't judge a book by its cover and all that, but the cover for this book is incredible!)
Some more books I would recommend are:
Metro 2033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky - A post-apocalyptic book set in the Moscow Metro. We follow Artyom as he journeys through the Metro to deliver a message.
We by Yevgeny Zamyatin - Set in a totalitarian state, we see the change of perspective of our main character, D-503, through a series of journal entries.
Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk - The book that went on to become a cult-classic film, this book tells the story of the mysterious Narrator, and his relationship with Tyler - a charismatic soap salesman and extremist.
The Whole Town is Sleeping by Ray Bradbury - A short story following Lavinia Nebbs as she walks home amidst rumours of a woman-strangler. The descriptions of the town and the environment are so good, it makes me feel like I am in the book, sitting there with Lavinia!
The Machine Stops by E. M. Forster - A short story about an isolated world, where people are taken care of, and can only communicate to one another through the use of machines.
