Help a trans Jewish couple this Hanukkah!!!
Hey, so I’ve been unemployed and driving for postmates to help with expenses. Unfortunately there’s something wrong with the radiator in my car, which makes the engine get dangerously hot in minutes. Obviously the car is undriveable until that gets looked at, so I’m asking for donations to help with food and transportation until my money maker works again
Thank you so much in advance and Shabbat Shalom!!

Just because you eventually decided that you weren’t ace doesn’t mean that others who identify as ace aren’t ace. The ace community let you decide for yourself, so why won’t you let them decide for themselves too?
Quit disrespecting and patronizing aces by assuming we are naive and foolish to identify as we do. How we identify isn’t any of your business, honestly. But if we tell you our identify, please respect it.
Don’t pick it apart or tell us we are wrong. Trust us when we tell you our identity. We’ve gone through all the ins and outs. Even if we haven’t, still trust us. Just because you don’t understand us doesn’t make us wrong, nonexistent, inhumane, or naive.
We know who we are. You clearly don’t.
Unfortunately controversial take but you chosing to identify as ace as a way to not deal with something internal isnt the fault of the ace community. I see so many aphobes and exclusionists going “I told myself I was ace when i was younger to not deal with depression so its a harmful label for children!!” or “well i thought I was ace and so I forced myself to shun sex and it harmed me so the ace comminity harmed me!” and every time it kills me more.
Like, having depression or trauma or dysphoria or whatever made you choose to call yourself ace isnt your fault! But its also not aces fault, for accepting you and allowing someone calling themselves ace to be a part of the ace community!! Thats what communities are supposed to do!
When I was younger I just assumed I was a lesbian, and involved myself in lesbian communities. I talked to other lesbians about my disconnect with womanhood (spoiler alert; it was the trans in me making that disconnect), and they told me that thats normal and okay, that I can still be a lesbian regardless. When I accepted the fact that I like boys, I just figured it was on addition and identified as bi. Other bi people told me that my strong preference for guys was okay (it was the gay, actually). Then I realized that I was just trans and gay and now here i am today.
Did I choose to identify with those labels to avoid dealing with my own personal problems? Oh absolutely I did. I clung HARD to both when I was younger, because it was easy. Has this happened to other people? Of course, plenty of other trans people have gone through other sexuality labels! Is this lesbians and bisexuals faults, since they treated us as if we were lesbians/bi? Absolutely fucking not.
Yall need to calm down and actually acknowledge the fact that communities are supposed to help and support people within them! They arent supposed to try to steer you away from them. Do you guys expect every community to disclaim every resource with “but also you might not be this so ://”? Because all that is doing is ostracizing people that arent “cookie cutter” examples in the community, and thats wrong.
I fully understand being upset at trauma or lost time, and I get that its easier to place the blame somewhere for bullshit that you shouldnt have had to go through, but this aint it. Yall need to grow up and realize you are putting blame on a community for treating you as one of their own WHEN YOU YOURSELF SAID YOU WERE ONE OF THEIR OWN. You are vilifying them because of your own personal shit, and what you are actually doing is projecting.

Why do we have to offer up examples of our oppression?
Why are you, oppressing us when you yourself were and still are oppressed? You know who you are. You refuse to let us into your elite community simply because you don’t understand us. Isn’t your community supposed to be inclusive of those who are different? You’ve become so elitist in your thinking that only the ‘big four’ are allowed in. And sometimes the last two are optional. When you were excluded from the majority, you founded your group, for other minorites. We are minorities too.
You say that we aren’t really oppressed, so therefore we can’t be in your elite community. You change the rules so that we can’t enter. Sound familiar? It should. That’s some grade-A hypocrisy there, buddy.
And to those of you in the elitist community who see whats wrong and don’t do a thing, you are bystanders. If you don’t actively support us, a fellow minority, you are bigoted in your beliefs against us. ‘Oh, well, I just really don’t understand it, so I can’t support it.’ Are you kidding me? You’re trying to tell me that you understand everyone else in your community, and that’s the basis for support? Excuse me? Is this some kind of joke?
And because you and your elitist group continue to exclude us, the minority within a minority, you stifle our speech. You stifle our words, claim that we aren’t oppressed (also with any sum of research, you’d see that we are oppressed too, so shut up). You invalidate us, you exclude us from the very group you label as “inclusive”. You fight for inclusivity yet you actively exclude us. You want understanding, yet you fail to even try to understand. You are hypocrites of the finest level.
Where we fight for you, you fight against us. Why? Why must you act this way? Just because we defy more societal norms than you do? Why do you pretend to take the moral high ground, yet climb on our bodies? We amplify your voices, we support you, we add to the discussion. We are valuable members people. We matter too.
Yet you exclude us. You know exactly who you are. You know what you’re doing. You want an excuse to feel like the superior for once. Well, I hate to break it to you, hypocritical ass, but you’re a horrible person.
Why do we have to offer up examples of our oppression? It won’t be obvious to you because you ignore it. But do some basic fucking research, maybe? Maybe act on that inclusivity that you preach and yearn for?
If you feel that I’m speaking about you, think on that. You might actually be wrong for once. I hope you guys can grow.

Use Latine Instead of LatinX
Let’s get some things laid out.
LatinX is unusable in spanish. Literally. Also when you try to spread it to words, like amigxs. How do you say that. How.
LatinX is reverse appropriation. It’s explained best in this article here: http://www.latina.com/lifestyle/our-issues/latinoa-latinx-latine-solving-spanish-gender-problem?page=0%2C1
LatinX is inherently anglicized and americanized in nature. It’s literally unusable in Spanish!!!! The term is literally a reapplication of the gender-neutral(gn) title Mx. (in reference to the gendered Ms., Mr., Mrs., etc.). That works just fine in English, but not for Spanish. It’s unnatural and I’ve never liked it.
X is rarely used in Spanish btw. It’s mainly used in the form of indigenous words like ‘Xochitla’ and ‘Xochitlicacan’.
Let’s use Latine instead. The ‘e’ is already used as a gender-neutral vowel in spanish for words like ‘estudiante’(student). There’s also the gn pronoun ‘elle’ in Spanish that differs from ‘ella’ and ‘ellos’.
It’s actually usable in Spanish! For example, instead of the unpronouncable ‘amigxs’, we can say ‘amigues’. Easy to start using. Easy to pronounce. Overall just better.
LatinX may work for the American latines, but what about the latinoamericanos who literally live in spanish speaking countries? Latinx is usable in English, but latines don’t all speak English, and they most certainly don’t all live in an English-speaking country. And maybe, just maybe, they want something that’s made with their best interest in mind. And not these trophy points of inclusivity that seem to be going around.
BTWL I’m a Latine/a. So don’t say I can’t talk about this. I’m exactly who should be talking about this.

omfg im heated
sorry, why should i apologize for that rant? its all true lmao
i’m a person too? and so are all of the other minorities excluded from the ‘big four two’ of the lgbtq. the q is the umbrella term and its the afterthought????? tf
it doesnt make no sense buddies
make it make sense
honestly why use the acronym lgbtq at all?? why not grsm/gsrm? or like,,, just queer?
lgbtq is often shortened to lgbt which excludes SO MANY people. literally millions (est. 78 million of pop is asexual, so at the least millions, if not hundreds of millions). those that fall into the categories of the ‘big four’ are often happy enough to use only those four letters in their titles because they know the backlash will be minimal because either:
-they dont care abt minorities within the queer minority
-they don’t even recognize what’s wrong with the term
-they know the minority wont speak up/ isnt big enough to speak up
honestly how cruel and hateful? if you dont see whats wrong with it, go away.
also lgbt is kinda sexist, and yeah i get that glbt is also used too, but then what about bi and trans people??? you’re literally listing a hierarchy of importance.
btw when i use the term queer, i refer to those that are in gender, sexual or romantic minorities, which is basically the grsm/gsrm acronym anyways, but that’s a lesser know term so
but like, asexuals are so often dehumanized by both the straights and the big four,,,, but i hold so much love for people? just because i dont feel sexual nor romantic attraction doesnt mean im not human. honestly how flawed is your perception of humanity if you base its entire meaning on how they love? that you base it nearly on sex and romance? which literally means you rely on others to be human? what about single people? what about celibate people? and what about us?
sorry that you get the privilege in the queer community to speak first, speak loudest, and speak last. sorry that you are more easily accepted in society now.
YES. ASEXUALS CAN BE STRAIGHT PASSING. BUT WHAT IF WE WANT TO BE OURSELVES?????? what if i want to be seen as myself? what if i also want to come out? why must i face so much backlash for just stating who i am?
it doens’t make sense to me
why do i have to be called wrong and incomplete, why do i have to be invalidated, why do i have to be misinterpreted after i so clearly tell you who i am?
if you wanna be acephobic, if you wanna be arophobic, just admit you’re a bigot and go. i don’t care if fellow bigots hate you because you’re queer. maybe you might start to understand our point of view. a queer pushed aside, shushed, by fellow queers.
you want examples of our oppression? for what? search it up yourself.
when you ask us to show examples of our oppression, you’re part of the problem. you show us how little we matter to you. you show us that you can’t even spare a few minutes out of your day to search up examples of our oppression. you aren’t better than us just because there are more of you. you aren’t more important.
we amplify your voices, you stifle ours. we support your cause, you are actively pushing against ours. why. act on what you preach.

So, I just happened to see an old post about the lack of epilepsy warnings in general, but specifically in the Incredibles 2. And I happened to look at the notes. And a LOT of the reblogs were people saying that the reaction to the lack of warnings was disproportionate or that Disney had “fixed” the issue so we should move on, and I just want to say something.
I am STILL to this DAY mad about the Incredibles 2. I made the mistake of going to see it opening night. It was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life. And issuing a warning AFTER opening weekend was over wasn’t Disney attempting to fix ANYTHING in my opinion. If they’d actually wanted to fix things the warning would’ve been issued the day after the movie opened, as people had already been incredibly vocal about the issues the day it was released, and there shouldn’t have even been anything TO fix because it was the most BLATANT example of triggering lighting effects I have ever seen. It should’ve been OBVIOUS that a warning was necessary at the very least, and the lighting effects weren’t even for something where I would consider it understandable that they used them at all in the first place, never mind to the degree that they did. Not to mention that they DID tone it down in other countries and for the dvd/Netflix release which means they KNEW it was dangerous, they knew they’d need two versions, and they still chose to release the more dangerous version with zero warning anyway.
If you’re not epileptic, you don’t get to decide if how we react to things like this is overreacting or not. Yes, even if you know somebody with epilepsy. And you do not get to decide if a company did enough to make up for things like this either.
Yes, I know this dragging up an old issue. Except that it’s not. It’s an old example of a continuing issue. People brush aside concerns about strobes and other epilepsy triggers every day.
(Please don’t add onto this to discuss triggers for conditions other than seizure disorders. Yes they are important as well however this post is specifically intended for epilepsy awareness)

Wait, what's wine forgery? How would you fake wine?
VERY EASILY, MY FRIEND. BUCKLE UP.
First of all, you gotta understand that wine is BIG BUCKS. Old and rare vintages can sell for tens of thousands of dollars or even more to wealthy collectors at auctions. A single bottle of 1947 Cheval Blanc sold for $300,000 back in 2010. And a lot of 114 bottles of a rare Romanee-Conti sold for $1.4 million in 2014.
And it turns out that high-end wine is dazzlingly easy to fake. Only a handful of people have ever tasted the rarest vintages in the world; and how the bottles were stored, if they were exposed to sunlight or kept in darkness, if the bottle had been opened or kept sealed, or if the environment was humid or dry can affect the wine’s taste, especially after decades or centuries. So who knows what a bottle of 1785 Lefitte actually tastes like? Can anyone actually tell it apart, with certainty, from a hypothetically-much-less-valuable 1784 of the same vintage?
Considering that some of the greatest wine-tasters in the world have also been dupes of some of the biggest wine scams in the world, I’m gonna say no.
There are definitely flavors associated with old wines, even specific vintages of old wines; but you don’t need to shell out for a pricey bottle to top off your fake. Get a cheap bottle of old wine and mix it with some nice quality, younger wines, and no one will be the wiser. Million-dollar wine forgers like Harvey Rodenstock and Rudy Korniawan do exactly that.
It gets even easier when you think that a lot of the people who buy these ultra-pricey bottles never even open them. They’re not for drinking! They’re an investment, or they’re a prestige item, something you take down from your shelf to show off to your friends once in a while. You could fill the bottle with grape juice, and who would ever find out?
So how are you supposed to tell a real bottle from a fake one? The bottle itself? The label? Wine bottles are nothing special; get one made in the right couple-of-decades as the vintage you’re faking, and there’s nothing to tell them apart. Some of them have etched signatures, but those were done with simple hand tools, that you can still buy today. And the labels are no security at all. They’re just paper, ink, and paste. People today are forging the holograms off of $20 bills; you could convincingly fake a wine label using a standard laser printer.
Wine forgery is a HUGE problem in the wine world today. Tracing the provenance of any particular bottle is next to impossible. And frankly, the money in the business is just too good for anyone to want to ask too many questions. The head of Sotheby’s auction house’s international wine department joked that more bottles of 1945 Mouton were consumed on the 50th anniversary of the vintage than were ever produced in the first place.
The question isn’t how do you fake wine: it’s how the fraudsters ever get caught. In Rodenstock and Korniawan’s cases, they just overplayed their hands. Rodenstock sold so many bottles of rare wine that a suspicious customer had a bottle carbon-dated, which revealed that it was two centuries younger than Rodenstock had claimed (and it still took years to take him down).
As for Korniawan, he started selling a vintage so rare that, it turned out, it had never existed in the first place.
There’s a great podcast on this topic in the Stuff You Should Know archives, if you want to hear a whole lot more about this.
