Carcharodontosaurus Doodle

Spent multiple lunch breaks and slow work days messing in MS Paint. Decided one day I should try rendering a naturalistic reconstruction of a dinosaur while also testing the limits of my ability to use that simple program with only a mouse.

I wasn't sure where to start, so I took this skeleton from Wikimedia Commons and traced muscles and soft tissue over it.

Then I just filled in the areas I had outlined and started detailing (first some flat block colors, then endlessly adjusting colors by one or two hexidecimals and clicking small dots to emulate soft shading).

Looks like a super-compressed JPEG, but otherwise I like how it turned out.

Reminds me of a post that a mutual recently shared (I believed it was originally from "the community of independents" on insta) that went something like this:

Added some glowing haze to represent exhaust, and now the point light I use for the propulsion glow is showing up as a pale dot that's visible through the propulsion unit mesh... something more to work on, I guess

People don't like to admit it bcs cringe or w/e but Homestuck really did revolutionize the webcomic as a storytelling medium and I am endlessly frustrated that before webcomic artists could really stretch our legs fucking webtoonz swooped in, set a new, more restrictive standard, and then monetized and monopolized the ever living fuck out of the concept of The Webcomic until it drove away anyone who couldn't be a professional quality manga artist for free, and now the only webcomics that actually feel like spiritual successors to Homestuck are so obscure they're basically cult classics that you have to beg people to read.

Like it's just so wild to be in high school and see Homestuck be like "we're using like fifteen different artistic mediums to tell this story bcs we can" and be really fucking inspired by that, only to grow up and see basically every webcomic ever have to conform to One Single Standard or fucking perish.

But the news saying the ceasefire agreement is done and they will maybe tomorrow Announce it .

Best thing is the isareli army will withdraw from all Gaza Strip that’s mean the Rafah border crossing will back to work again so i need your support your help so I could take my brother Mohammed out to be with his Son Zayed and his wife.

And didn’t told you before my brother Omar engaged and His fiancee still in north gaza. He asked me alot to tel you about her so he can also be with the love of his life.

unfortunately my dear friend has gotten the news that his father has bladder cancer :(. this is unimaginably tragic on its own, but that tragedy is compounded by the fact that treatment is impossible to seek in gaza, and management is prohibitively expensive. on top of that, conditions only worsen — weather is bad, people are starving, everyone is sick and wounded, and israeli aggression does not stop or slow.

ibrahim needs our help now more than ever to raise funds to eat, to stay warm, to evacuate, and now to help his father pay for treatment when they reach safety. this is EXTREMELY URGENT — it CANNOT WAIT!!! please treat this as a personal plea for the life of my family members — ibrahim is like a little brother to me, and i cannot describe how heartbroken i am for him day after day and how terribly i want him to survive.
