Indeed they are! I never intended Emily to really be involved in the story since she’s supposed to be out of the picture but she was DEFINITELY important to Hatty’s story and character development I had planned out. I always thought they were an adorable couple and so I of course had to include Hatty’s wedding ring in his character design hehe

Hello! It’s been a while since i’ve posted on Tumblr but here I am again! So update time-

I know that the last few posts on this blog were about me revamping it but I think it’s time I let this blog go. I will always love and adore The Haunted Mansion and I won’t neccesarily be leaving the fandom but when I first joined I was a very different person.

I was around 14 when I became heavily interested in HM and joined the Tumblr fandom. I was able to love and adore it so much I basically made it my entire personality throughout high school. I could fill an entire sketchbook with just Haunted Mansion characters I was that into it but I’m 19 now and no longer in high school.

I’m a much more mature person now and I don’t like consider myself a member of fandom culture due to the constant toxicity that surrounds it. I have a much more wide array of interests and so aside from a handful of things it’s hard for me to stay overly interested in things for longer than a few months. Unlike when I was in high school, I just don’t have the time or energy to devote to this blog anymore unfortunately. 

As of right now I’m working to develop a project related to Warrior Cats and I’m building a youtube channel that could potentially be a source of income for me in the future. Additionally I will of course continue to draw Haunted Mansion fanart whenever I feel like it. Like I said before, I still love and adore The Haunted Mansion but I think it’s time this blog came to an end. 

I won’t be deleting the blog of course because i’d like to leave the possibility of me coming back to the blog and elaborating more on my headcanons. If you really want to know more about the story and headcanons I had for some of the characters feel free to send in an ask if you’d like!

So hehe...

This ask blog may or may not have been entierely abandoned for a while (a year?? almost a year?? i have no idea how long it's been ;-;)

But anyways, I'm rebooting this blog! New character designs and everything! I'm not changing everything though. Most of the designs are gonna be pretty recognizable from what they were and there's been some minor backstory changes.

I'm actually really excited to start working on this blog again and I'll probably start posting new stuff really soon!

For now I'm gonna keep the ask box open if yall wanna send in some asks, and for those who's asks have been collecting dust in the ask box I'll try my best and get to your questions as soon as possible!

It’s been a little while since i’ve hopped on the ask blog (and drawn Haunted Mansion characters in general oops) so I thought why not do this expression meme thing again for some HM characters to get used to drawing the spooks again so feel free to send in some asks requesting characters!

Yeah the one consistent thing about living in the mansion is how inconsistent everything is.

It’s October and yall know what that means! I’m dumb and lost the motivation to write and so this fic wasn’t finished when I thought it would!

Anyways looking back at this I’m just gonna add a few updates onto this. The entire fic is being rewritten at the moment but for the most part the plot will remain the same. However originally each chapter would have a new story (like listed above) but it takes FOREVER to write whole chapters so instead I’m going to be splitting them up (plus that means that there’ll be more chapters and more for me to post!). 

I’m currently working on setting up the ao3 stuff and I’m probably gonna start writing tonight and maybe chapter 1 will be up by tomorrow!

Also yea I deleted the fanfic blog because I didn’t see the need for me to have two separate Haunted Mansion blogs.  

Chapters

Hello everyone! I know I just posted a text update a couple days ago but I thought since the writing of the first chapter is coming along slower than anticipated I would give yall the names/synopsis’s of the chapters as well as the estimated date of release on ao3! Also please note, the dates are only estimated based on how long it’s taken me to write chapter one and considering how I think chapter one will be much longer than other chapters it may take less time to complete it! So i’d say hope to expect chapters before or on the dates listed

Chapter 1: Cadaverous Pallor (April 17th)

For decades the Gracey Manor has served as a retirement home for 999 happy haunts. While the mansion is undoubtedly a success, as of late Master Dorian Gracey’s job has been increasingly difficult. With only him and his maid Eleanor working, keeping up with the care of the ghouls is quite the handful. When a strange cloaked man named Henry shows up at the mansion uninvited, Eleanor soon realizes that there is more to the new situation and the ghosts she’s known. As tensions rise between the ghosts, they realize they have to (reluctantly) reconnect and fix their previous mistakes. 

Chapter 2: Delightfully Unlivable (April 24nd)

After a party has left the mansion a mess, Master Gracey, Henry, Leota, Eleanor, and a reluctant Constance have to clean it up. After their job is done, they all head to bed to get rest however their hopes are let up as a strange shadowy creature wrecks havoc throughout the halls. Dorian, Henry, and Eleanor set up camp in the ballroom theorizing on what it could possibly be, while Leota, Constance, and the Hitchhiking Ghosts search the halls for the monster. 

Chapter 3: Ringing a Bell (May 1st)

After bickering with Constance, Henry discovers an old wedding ring lodged in the dirt below the attic balcony. Eleanor and Constance agree to help Henry find the owner. While searching, they gain the help of a child spirit named Florence. While one group is searching for the owner of a lost ring, Dorian and Leota get locked in her seance room by the mansion itself. In their time locked in, they’re forced to discover more about the mysterious curse that had been put on the mansion decades before. 

Chapter 4: Here Comes the Bride (May 8th)

While cleaning out the attic, Eleanor discovers an old photo of Henry’s lost bride, Emily. Henry and Constance recount various stories from their life of the bride. 

Chapter 5: Several Prominent Ghosts (May 15th)

The day that Master Gracey has been dreading all year has arrived, the annual Gracey family reunion. Though his relatives are kind, Dorian has no interest in partaking in the reunion. Eleanor begins to try and find a way to force Dorian to attend.  

Chapter 6: Our Christmas Delight (May 22nd)

The holiday season has arrived and along with it the citizens of Halloween Town have come for their yearly celebration. 

(I’ll be completely honest, I’m not even sure if this chapter is canon to the rest of the story)

Chapter 7: Welcome Foolish Mortals (May 29th)

As the Halloween Town citizens pack up and leave, a problem arrives at the doorstep of the Gracey Manor. Mortals have come into the home and wish to  turn it into an attraction to share the history of the home. Dorian refuses to let this happen and the ghosts come up with a master plan to scare the mortals away. 

Chapter 8: Aura of Foreboding (June 5th)

Eleanor finds a mermaid in the stream by the mansion in the graveyard and she instantly becomes friends with her. However when introducing her new friend to Dorian, things don’t go as planned. The mermaid turns out to be a siren who didn’t see Eleanor as a friend, but food. Dorian attempts to scare away the siren with violence, however she puts a fog over the mansion so that the ghosts must face what they all fear most. 

As for the chapters 9-13, I think the synopsis’s are a little too spoilery to be given now, however here are the titles and dates regardless!

Chapter 9: No Turning Back Now (June 12th)

Chapter 10: Ah, There You Are (June 19th)

Chapter 11: I Am Your Host (June 26th)

Chapter 12: Your Ghost Host (July 3rd)

Chapter 13 (Epilogue): Hurry Back (July 10th)

Ghosts as benders?

I have legit no art to post so I thought why not assign a couple of the hm characters bending since I’ve recently entered the ATLA/LOK fandom for fun.

Eleanor: Def. an air bender, not entirely sure why that's just the vibes she gives me

Dorian: As a kid he was probably a late bloomer and his parents were certain that if he was a bender he was a water bender like his mom, but shockingly he turned out to be a fire bender like his dad. It fits his backstory as well as his personality

Henry: Look me in the eye and tell me that he wouldn’t be an earth bender. I feel like his moms a non bender and his dads an earth bender. He’d be able to use earth bending minimally but he’s not skilled in it. 

Emily: I feel like she’d be a water bender. Not sure why, I think I just associate the color blue with her so... water bending??

Leota: She was the hardest to figure out because she could easily be any of them. She’s spiritual like an air bender, she’s stubborn like an earth bender, she’s driven and passionate like a fire bender, and free flowing like a water bender. So she’s the avatar but her birth element would probably be air.

Constance: Nonbender. If she had bending she would just kill all her husbands with that. Plus if Emily (her cousin) is a water bender and she didn’t get bending I think it would fit into their backstories. 

Ezra: Nonbender, that’s just the vibe he gives off. 

Phineas: He’s a water bender. He can’t really use it for combative purposes however he’s good with healing. 

Gus: He’s an earth bender and for whatever reason he can metal bend? The other hitchhikers are positive that that’s how he got out of jail so many times. Oh, and Ezra swears he saw Gus lava bend one time but he can’t be sure because he’s never seen him do it since. 

Sally Slater: She’s a nonbender, I feel like she doesn’t really need bending or want it
