I have a soft spot for Simon having curly hair and from this, I need Soap to call him Lamb; at first as a joke but then it became a legitimate term of endearment. It happens out in the field one time, they're talking like usual but Soap forgets himself and lets the name slip. Anyone who overheard is staring confused, because this man must have a death wish calling The Ghost such a soft and unassuming name but Ghost doesn't even pause.

Thinking about a regressor who hasn't really fully regressed before because they know how clingy and fussy they'll get and don't wanna burden whoever cares for them (it was already a big step to let someone care for them) until they start slipping a little too hard and too far for them to control so now they're not only clingy but upset because they didn't mean for this to happen so its extra bad but their CG is so gentle and so kind the whole time it really only makes them cry harder and they spend hours together, regressor bawling their eyes out and CG gently shushing them and holding them so tight and so close and waough

And after it all the regressor tries to avoid CG or immediately apologize but is cut off and told they don't need to apologize or better yet, "what are you sorry for?" and now they wanna cry again

Bonus points if the regressor had a childhood where they weren't allowed to express emotion especially negative emotion so this is really scary and new

i really like fallout because, unlike a lot of media that uses retrofuturism as just a cool aesthetic, fallout’s obsession with 1950s americana actually means something. it’s not just chrome fins and googie diners, it’s weaponized optimism. it’s that sickly-sweet propaganda sheen slathered over nuclear terror, where smiling mascots tell you to duck and cover while the government quietly preps for the end of the world. it’s about a country that believed so hard in its own greatness it signed its death warrant in cursive.

fallout takes that warped, post-war idealism, the “gee whiz!” charm of suburbia on lithium. and drags it through the dirt, showing us what happens after all the white picket fences melt into radioactive slag. in a world shaped by that specific brand of McCarthyist exceptionalism, the future isn’t flying cars and robot butlers, it’s a dinky holotape of your last moments before the bombs hit, looping forever. like vault 11, the one where the final recording plays after everyone’s already dead, revealing the whole “sacrifice one person every year or everyone dies” mandate was a lie. a loyalty test. a sick joke. and the vault passed, right before it failed, because paranoia and desperation had already eaten them alive.

that’s fallout. not just the end of the world, but the punchline that comes after the moral.

and honestly? that hits way harder than any sleek utopia. because fallout remembers: beneath all that pastel patriotism and canned laughter, something was always rotting.

I think the theory that Ghost could understand Spanish the whole time is extra funny to me bc of the comment Rudy makes that he’s “scared of ghosts” when they first meet and Ghost was prob like alright so this is clearly Alejandro’s little sergeant who says stuff he shouldn’t, good to know we all have one

thinkin bout ghoap getting married and they want a real ceremony. they want a venue they want flowers and a reception and an open bar thats bound to end in drunken dances. they've fought long and hard, they just want one special, pretty day for them. a celebration not just of their union, but of the fact that they survived.

but simon starts to regret it when the planning starts because the only family simon has are the 141 vs johnny and every single mactavish from immediate family to “im pretty sure theyre like a fifth cousin or something but he was at christmas last year so he’s probably related somewhere down the line”

and simon is stuck thinking abt the memorial seats for johnnys recently deceased grandparents and how if they did that for him it would take up at least two rows of seats alone. empty seats with empty frames bc he only has a handful of group photos, none of which contain any grandparents or extended family. and he can’t tell if he’s more jealous or existential but he knows that neither are feelings you should feel when planning a wedding.

simon’s groomsmen are all 141, just price, gaz, and roach. but johnny couldn’t leave any of his siblings out, leaving a 3 to 5 gap. until johnnys youngest sibling asks simon if they could stand on his side instead.

no one had mentioned the problem bc no one was going to tell simon that he didn’t love enough people to have an even number of party members nor announce that to the entire family. nor was simon going to admit how much it stung. it was something his sibling wanted unbeknownst of the issue. and johnny can’t even pretend to be upset by it; no joking cries of betrayal, just simon smacking him for being a sap when he teared up over it.

and simon had been calm about that, just told them that they’d always be welcome on the better side and asked where they wanted to stand.

he didn't start crying openly until simon, johnny, and his parents had sat down to discuss more minute details of the planning and they started talking about how they would walk both of them down the aisle; his parents tossed around his mom walking one of them down and his dad the other but that was thrown out. they asked simon if he’d be okay with johnny's parents walking him down, if he wanted to be first or second, if he would rather walk alone or maybe even walk down with price.

and simon started mumbling saying that his parents didn’t have to do any of that and that he’d be fine walking down alone or whatever was easiest. and johnny, whose Simon’s Bullshit Detectors had grown fine tuned over the years, told him plainly that his parents were asking bc they wanted to walk them both down the aisle but would also be fine not doing that if it’s what simon preferred.

and he got out that he’d be fine with them walking him down the aisle if they really wanted before the first tear fell bc when tommy got married, it had been simon and their mother who walked him down before simon took his place as best man and he couldn’t think about anyone other than tommy being by his side but maybe this could be okay too

and he already knows that he’d be the first one to walk down because as he said (in private bc he can’t be mistaken for a softy) johnny makes a much prettier blushing bride.

the sign outside the ceremony space says to "choose a seat, not a side" and everyone smiles at the sweet sentiment, only a few knowing that simon's side would have been empty without it

and after johnny's parents walk him down, simon looks around and doesn’t recognize half the people sitting on his side but the first seat isn’t empty, holding four people there and then it’s johnnys grandmother who had called simon a dashing young boy in spanish when he first met the family, unaware that he spoke the language. and next to her was a cousin who had drunkenly challenged simon to an arm wrestle and lost in spectacular fashion and then his wife and three kids and starting the second row was laswell, who hadn’t been sure if she’d be able to make it and then her wife who he’d never met in person but maybe had the biggest grin out of everyone in the audience, but she had some stiff competition as every other seat was filled with either a mactavish or a close friend of the family who seemed just as happy to see simon standing up there as they were johnny

and maybe johnny isnt walking down the aisle or theres a service dog at simons feet but they survived goddammit and now they can celebrate and relax and grow gray hair side by side

uhh i forgot what the point of this post was. simon who was a mactavish long before any papers were signed and ghoap who finally get their fairytale 'and they lived happily ever after' moment

Look, I love every version of big scary animal hybrid simon as the next person, but have we considered sheep hyrbid!simon?

Sheep!simon who is used to people assuming things about him. He's big, a cathedral of a person, so people assume hes got hybrid genes to match. He's heard plenty of guesses, wolf, panther, tiger, bear. He never confirms anything, never denies it either. Its helpful for people to be unaware of his true status, a harsh stigma around prey hybrids and especially domestic ones.

Sheep!simon who hasn't made a hybrid sound in years. Who keeps his hair shorn to the root because if it grows out its into tight coils of blonde that remind him too much of his mother. His mother who he watched suffer each day for being a sheep, and thats the only trait she gave him. He got his eyes, his bulk, his face from his father. But the one thing from his mother? It feels too shameful, too weak to ever accept. It eats at him, but there's nothing he can do.

Sheep!simon who eats alone. He wears a mask anyways, so no one bothers him to eat with them. He finds some secluded nook, and makes quick work of a plate stacked with greens. On the grueling missions, packed too close with others to grab food without someone seeing his plate, simon forces himself to grab meats and a sliver of greens. The vague diet of a predator species. He eats everything, feels too guilty about wasting food not to, and simply ignores the painful twists of his stomach at eating stuff hes really not suited for.

Sheep!simon who feels anxious when hes not in a group, but feels even worse being near people he doesn't trust (everyone). He never truly rests, never relaxes completely as his mind fights with itself. Its exhausting, but hes felt this way since he was small, and has grown apathetic to it.

Just....consider it. (Yapping abt the specific sheep he'd be under the cut.)

Personally I envisioned him to be a kerry hill sheep!

Mostly bc the face markings remind me of his mask lol, but also bc they dont have horns! There's a unique dynamic that comes from ghost being a sheep hybrid that doesn't even have horns to defend himself that I find really compelling....they're also raised primarily for meat, which is another great metaphor or whatever abt ghost being made for the military, designed for slaughter when hes no longer useful....
