communicating your wants or desires does not make it less significant when the other person actually does those things.

When you reject a kind gesture after communicating your likes (or dislikes for that matter) to someone. like, when you tell your partner you like getting flowers on valentines day and they get you flowers, it’s not less meaningful or a bad thing, it’s still sweet and will inevitably make you smile, because it’s exactly what you wanted! That action shows that they’re listening and trying, if you were wondering if they care about you then this indicates they more than likely do. 

you-yourself, know everyone is dealing with (whether big or small) something internally and the fact that they care enough to try is what really matters. we can’t directly read minds, as much as we wish it. on that note, everyone has different likes and dislikes; it’s crucial to discuss those when applying this to your situation, it’ll avoid miscommunications which is the whole point. 

when you communicate it’s hard for things to not work out, one way or another.
