Men Experiencing Period Pain Through a Pain Simulator Experiment
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even in present times, menstruation is an under-discussed topic. Only recently, in August, the MP of Ernakulam, Kerala, backed by the Indian Medical Association, decided to do something different and educate the masses about the taboos regarding periods.
So they conducted an experiment in Lulu Mall in Kochi, asking men to experience pain through a simulator experiment. Men partaking in the experiment were seen shouting and screaming in pain due to the simulator experiment. In another video shared by the team, it could be seen that young men clutched their stomach and gasped heavily for breath as the levels of the pain simulator was raised.
The #FeelthePain experiment has garnered much attention and empathy for women, as men don’t necessarily know what a menstruator goes through every month. Many women shared reels and videos, citing them as ‘educational’.
Do share your thoughts about what you feel about this experiment and your experience of period cramps.

5 Important Tips for Pregnant Women
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pregnancy is not just a phase in a woman’s life, it is a journey. Most importantly, it is a responsible journey. It is an epoch in which she brings a new life to the world and utmost care has to be taken to bring out the child to the world safe, sound and healthy.
So, here are the top five things that pregnant women should take care of, and they are:
Exercise: Being physically active helps maintain overall health and can help you feel better by lowering stress levels, enhancing circulation, and boosting your mood. Additionally, it also promotes restful sleep.
Eliminate Toxins: While pregnant, you should abstain from using tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs, and even solvents like paint thinner and nail polish remover due to their links to birth defects, miscarriages, and other issues.
Keep yourself hydrated: This is because during pregnancy, your blood is responsible for carrying waste and carbon dioxide away from the body and supplying oxygen and other essential nutrients to the foetus through the placenta. As a result, your blood volume increases by up to 50% during pregnancy to accommodate all of this extra activity. To support that gain, you must therefore be well hydrated.
Increase your fruit intake: Fruit consumption is crucial during pregnancy as it boosts energy levels and is highly nourishing for both the mother and the unborn child.
Get Rest: The last and most crucial thing on the list is that you must make sure you are getting enough sleep during this time. The recommended amount of sleep is eight hours.
For women, being pregnant is a wonderful gift. The opportunity to create a new life and a new love is both humble and exciting.
NOTE: Regular consultation with a doctor is a must during this period.

Things A Man Can Do For His Girl During Her Period
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello Romeos! Give this a sure shot read. It's so unfortunate that men can’t do much to help out their women in those painful days, especially if they plan to marry or are already in a relationship with a woman. Women tend to experience mood swings during their monthly cycle. They've also been known to be irritable and uncomfortable, especially if they have terrible cramps, hormonal shifts, become hyperactive, sluggish, super horny, or angry. So put forth a little extra effort to put her at ease and make her happy in order to be a loving and caring partner.
So let’s check out what are those three important things to do to comfort your women figure in life while she is on her periods.
Try to watch a film with her: Those menstrual cramps are excruciatingly painful. Spend some quality time together to distract her from her discomfort. Watch her favorite movie, and don't forget to bring some popcorn! To be on the safe side, avoid anything too tragic or emotionally charged.
Try to make her feel loved and appreciated: Tell her how grateful you are to have her in your life. Tell her what a wonderful person she is. If she's at work or otherwise unavailable, call her cellphone, work phone, or email her and tell her how lovely, sweet, and all-around amazing she is.
Tell her nothing that will irritate her: Your girl may be a rational and easygoing person most of the time, but when she's on her period, she may not respond as casually as she would on a normal day. When she's already dealing with hormones, even the slightest hint of annoyance can quickly escalate into full-fledged anger.
Men can try these few things to make her feel better during her periods. Trust me, after this lovely exchange of sweet efforts, they will give their hearts to you one and all. Tell us in the comments what you do to relax your girl while she is on her period.

Home Hacks for Menstrual Pain
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dysmenorrhea is pain during menstruation, also known as painful periods or menstrual cramps. It usually begins around the time menstruation begins. Symptoms usually last no more than three days. Pain is typically felt in the pelvis or lower abdomen. Back pain, diarrhea, and nausea are all possible symptoms.
There are a few home hacks that a menstruator can follow and they are:
Applying Heat: Heat can help in relaxing the muscles that contribute to cramping, so applying heat to your abdomen or back can help in relieving your pain.
Reduce Stress: Stress has many effects on your body, including lowering your pain threshold. Yoga, deep breathing exercises, and meditation actually help.
Exercise: Exercise may be the last thing on your mind if you're in pain. However, even light exercise releases endorphins, which make you happy, reduce pain, and relax your muscles.
Reach orgasm: Menstrual cramps may be relieved by an orgasm. The uterus contracts but then releases during orgasm. This may help to reduce the severity of menstrual cramps. An orgasm, like exercise, releases endorphins and other hormones that relieve pain and make a person feel good.
Try these inexpensive home hacks to get rid of menstrual cramps and relax yourself. Do let us know in the comment section what hacks do you try at your home.

Music Therapy for Menopause and Depressed Mood
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is well-known that music works wonders and is also used to treat patients in today’s modern world. This is generally known as music therapy. And it is quite interesting to note that researchers have found that music therapy actually helps in treating menopause symptoms.
The experience of menopause is not the same in all the cases. It varies from menstruator to menstruator. The symptoms can actually vary as can their frequency and severity. Most common symptoms in this case could involve sleep disturbances, depressed mods, vaginal dryness, muscle and joint pain.
Music is so therapeutic that it stimulates the secretion of certain neurotransmitters in the body which includes serotonin, dopamine and endorphins which eventually decreases the level of stress hormones and makes one feel better. It also plays a pivotal role in blood pressure which is linked to the heart and respiration.
Music therapy has found to be useful in depressed moods, mood swings and headache which is caused during menstruation and one must try this inexpensive therapy while at the comfort of their home to deal with pain, menopause and depressed mood. - Jaya Prakash, Intern at Lemme Be

Microplastics and Women's Health
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Microplastics can be found everywhere, with 8 billion tonnes of plastic present in the environment. It can be found in the food we eat, the water we drink, and the air we breathe. Humans are increasingly being exposed to plastic even before their birth. Plastic endangers human health at every stage of its lifetime, causing cancer, heart disease, and various other health issues. Microplastics (MPs) are present in many items, including cosmetics, synthetic garments, plastic bags, and bottles. Many of these products are easily discarded into the environment.
It must be noted that women are also more likely than men to be exposed to plastic and its pollutants. Women are using more cosmetic, personal care, and cleaning products due to ingrained ideals about beauty, wellbeing, and the role of women at home.
According to a 2019 study, people consume nearly five grams of small plastic particles per week, roughly the weight of a credit card. Plastic particles enter the human food chain via packaging and enter the body via sea salt, shellfish, and even drinking water. Plastic products contain thousands of recognised compounds.
While most people cannot live without plastic, there are reusable alternatives to the majority of single-use plastic items. The goal is not to eliminate all plastic from daily life. However, to decrease their convenience and cease supporting the few producers who continue to benefit from the world's plastic crisis.
Lemme Be is a menstrual hygiene company where its goods are designed with the end user's comfort and safety in mind. Try our Z-Drip Max, a reusable period panty made of environmentally friendly cotton fiber. Please see the following link:

World Biofuel Day
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Every year on August 10th, the world celebrates World Biofuel Day to raise awareness of the value of non-fossil fuels as an alternative to traditional fossil fuels and to highlight the numerous government initiatives in the biofuel industry.
The day honours Sir Rudolf Diesel's scientific experiments. He used peanut oil in 1893 to power an engine. His research suggested that in the coming century, numerous mechanical engines would run on vegetable oil instead of fossil fuels.
Biofuel refers to any fuel made from biomass, which includes plants, algae, or animal waste. They are sustainable, biodegradable, and renewable energy sources. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has been observing World Biofuel Day since 2015. Biofuels provide a number of advantages, including the ability to lessen reliance on imports, maintain a cleaner environment, increase farmer income, create jobs, etc.
Numerous actions have been taken by the Indian government to increase the mixing of biofuels. Recently, the Central Government has permitted the production of ethanol from surplus rice.
Last but not the least, the theme for this year in 2022 is: "Promotion of biofuels for a better environment." It will be crucial to use biofuels as efficiently as possible while limiting any negative impacts they may have on the environment. Another key goal will be to increase public knowledge of the availability of biofuels as reliable alternatives to conventional fuels.

International Day of the World’s Indigenous People
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Every year on August 9th, the International Day of the World's Indigenous People is marked to promote awareness of and protect the rights of the indigenous peoples around the world. This celebration also honours indigenous people's accomplishments and contributions to global issues like environmental preservation. The United Nations General Assembly declared it for the first time in December 1994, on the anniversary of the first gathering of the Working Group on Indigenous Populations of the Sub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights in 1982.
Every year, it is organised around a particular theme, and this year's theme is "The Role of Indigenous Women in the Preservation and Transmission of Traditional Knowledge."
The world's indigenous communities are honoured on August 9 as part of the International Day of the World's Indigenous People. It is well known that these communities each have their own distinctive set of languages, customs, cultures, and institutional systems. The unique connection and bond many indigenous peoples have with nature has also contributed to the protection of the environment as a whole.
On the other hand, numerous indigenous groups experience challenges as a result of a central government's hidden and overt attempts to regulate their lives. Instead of ensuring their peaceful and harmonious lives, this has led to the violation of indigenous people's rights.
Let's celebrate this day, spread the word about it, and do our part to protect the world's indigenous people.

Japan: Menstrual Leave
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was recently announced in Spain that a draft had been approved for a bill introducing menstrual leave. Well, that's excellent news, and it is a matter of celebration. But according to some reporters, Spain is not the first country; rather, they argue that Taiwan and Japan were the first countries with menstrual leave.
Actually, Japan introduced this menstrual leave as an industrial right way back in 1947. But do you know that less than 10 percent of Japan's menstrual workforce regularly apply for menstrual leave?
A recent survey revealed that menstruators in Japan feel reluctant to apply for menstrual leave when they have a male superior or because very few other menstruators use those menstrual leave. Apart from this, other societal factors include the expectation to work even while sick or sometimes the shame associated with menstruation.
Moreover, there is one crucial catch here. The Japanese government has made the law, but there is no specific system in place or any clear instructions from the government on applying for menstrual leave. On top of that, the rules and regulations of every other company are different. One company asks for a doctor's slip, while some other company asks for proof that the menstruator is in severe pain to justify taking a day off.
Well, the rules look like being in the book for a long time without being practically implemented for various reasons, as mentioned earlier. Please let us know what you think about this period of leave in Japan and your thoughts about menstrual leave in India.

4 Period Books for Menstruators to Read
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Menstruators across the globe must be missing something big and interesting because there are some key texts on periods that are a must read. It discusses a variety of period-related topics, including the pain that goes along with them. There are several eye-opening books that everyone should read at least once in their lives.
Here are four books about periods and hormones you might like to read:
Ask Me About My Uterus: A Quest to Make Doctors Believe in Women's Pain: An inspirational memoir promoting awareness of women's health issues is available for any woman who has dealt with illness, chronic pain, or endometriosis.
Period Power: A Manifesto for the Menstrual Movement: It's one of Nadya Okamoto's books. Everyone who has periods ought to read this book. Okamoto, a Harvard undergraduate student, pens a manifesto on menstruation and how to participate in the youth movement without marginalizing those who bleed.
Period Repair Manual: This book was written by Lara Briden. Briden, a naturopath, aims to empower women with the information and resources they need to take better care of their menstrual cycles.
Flow: The Cultural Story of Menstruation: “Flow” is the last book on the list written by Elissa Stein. From mikvahs (ritual cleansing baths) to menopause, hysteria to hysterectomies, and low life spans, it is an intriguing, oftentimes quirky, and occasionally downright scary story. “Flow” answers such questions as: What’s the point of getting a period? What did women do before pads and tampons? What about new drugs that promise to end periods—a hot idea or not?
Last but not least, the aforementioned publications genuinely clear the haze around menstruation, cramps, sex during periods, and many other topics relating to periods. You should bookmark this article and add these books to your list of must-reads for the near future.

Hacks to Prevent Menstrual Leakage at Night
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Menstrual leakage at night must be a major problem for many menstruators.  It is not just the problem of an individual or two, but of millions of menstruators across the globe. Since sleep is one of the most important aspects of human life, one must make sure that they experience deep sleep. Nevertheless, don't worry; we have some interesting information to offer:
Listed below are some hacks to stop menstrual leaks at night:
Use a tampon: Since the tampon is worn inside the vagina, it won't leak if you move around while you're sleeping. Keep in mind that this should only be used by people who get fewer than 6 to 7 hours of sleep each night because wearing tampons for longer than 8 hours can raise the risk of infection. Therefore, exercise caution!
Use overnight pads: No matter how you sleep at night, overnight pads are specifically made to contain excess menstrual fluid. It would therefore be wise to use it.
Change your pad before hitting the sack: It is usually a good idea to change your pad just before bed because it will help in the maximum amount of absorption.
Get out of bed slowly: It's necessary to get out of bed slowly because if menstrual fluid pools in your vagina at night, it could suddenly leak out. So when you wake up in the morning, it is highly advised to start at a snail's pace.
Tip: Try Lemme Be’s products, which are highly used by menstruators across India.
