Periods in your 20's v/s 40's
Tumblr media
Most of us may think that isn't it the same bleeding, cramps and PMS. But no, your menstrual cycle changes as you grow and here's how periods can differ in your 20's and 40's.
Periods in your 20's
In your teens, when you just started bleeding, you re still adjusting to the cycle and there's always an unexpected surprise apperance. But as you reach your 20's, your cycle gets more consistent.
Tumblr media
The cycle is more or less fixed and is monthly. Not to mention the start of the unpleasant symptoms of breast tenderness, PMS and nasty cramps. Many menstruators around this age start taking hormonal pills due to various reasons. The pill triggers changes to your flow, making it lighter, less pain and PMS or more regularised periods.
In fact, birth control pills prevent ovulation, and without ovulation, there's no uterine lining buildup that has to be shed, this can result in no flow.
Periods in your 40's
Tumblr media
It's the beginning of more changes, including perimenopausal hormonal fluctuations, which are precursors to menopause. Your body starts preparing for menopause. These hormone fluctuations cause ovulation to be more irregular, and your estrogen level change means you could start experiencing missed periods, a heavier flow, spotting between periods, and longer stretches of PMS.
During perimenopause your periods can be less predictable and even if ovulation is erratic, you can still get pregnant. A woman isn't in menopause until her periods have ceased for at least a year.
Tumblr media
Take care and make sure to note your change in cycle.

PMDD is a hormone-based mood disorder where symptoms are only present in the luteal phase - that js between ovulation & around the time of your period. Premenstrual symptoms include a constellation of mood, behavioral, and physical indications that occur in a cyclic pattern prior to menstruation and then wane off after the menstrual period in women of reproductive age. By when it's overwhelming, consult a doctor. Request people who matter, to be a bit more affectionate and loving towards you; and you, on the other hand, tell yourself that it's just a lousy trick your hormones play on you; you can pull it off better than this. In case you break down, it's okay too. Talk to someone who offers a safe place, and bring yourself back up. You got this. . . Microplastics and Women's Health
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Microplastics can be found everywhere, with 8 billion tonnes of plastic present in the environment. It can be found in the food we eat, the water we drink, and the air we breathe. Humans are increasingly being exposed to plastic even before their birth. Plastic endangers human health at every stage of its lifetime, causing cancer, heart disease, and various other health issues. Microplastics (MPs) are present in many items, including cosmetics, synthetic garments, plastic bags, and bottles. Many of these products are easily discarded into the environment.
It must be noted that women are also more likely than men to be exposed to plastic and its pollutants. Women are using more cosmetic, personal care, and cleaning products due to ingrained ideals about beauty, wellbeing, and the role of women at home.
According to a 2019 study, people consume nearly five grams of small plastic particles per week, roughly the weight of a credit card. Plastic particles enter the human food chain via packaging and enter the body via sea salt, shellfish, and even drinking water. Plastic products contain thousands of recognised compounds.
While most people cannot live without plastic, there are reusable alternatives to the majority of single-use plastic items. The goal is not to eliminate all plastic from daily life. However, to decrease their convenience and cease supporting the few producers who continue to benefit from the world's plastic crisis.
Lemme Be is a menstrual hygiene company where its goods are designed with the end user's comfort and safety in mind. Try our Z-Drip Max, a reusable period panty made of environmentally friendly cotton fiber. Please see the following link:

Startups turn to convertible notes to protect valuation - Lawyer2CA
-
Even as startup funding fell by a whopping 33% in 2022, the value of convertible notes written by venture capital investors to both early and late-stage startups rose to $120 million from just $2.5 million in 2021, data from private investment tracking platform @Tracxn showed.
-
Among the companies that raised money via convertible notes include @Udaan, @StrideOne, @LemmeBe, @Clensta and @echargeup. Some of the most active investors who wrote convertible notes in the last two years include names like @Microsoft, @Lightspeed Venture Partners, @Nomura, @Beenext, @Prime Venture Partners, @Stellaris Venture Partners, @Brand Capital and @SBI.
-
A convertible note allows investors to lend to the startup, and the option to convert the loan into equity in the future. They typically have a maturity of five years post which the note would be repaid or converted into equity shares.
-
Ankur Bansal, co-founder and director of @BlackSoil observed that typically the discount on a convertible note could range between 10% and 25%.
-
If things go well, investors can encash the shares at a better valuation. However, as Bansal pointed out, if the startup is unable to raise funds at a better valuation, investors may opt not to convert the notes into equity. In that case the convertible note would remain as debt and need to be repaid, potentially posing challenges for fragile startups.
-
Convertible notes offer startups a shield against down rounds especially when investors disagree with them on valuations. The main prerequisite of raising a convertible note as opposed to traditional equity is that the business does not need to be valued immediately.
-
As Ankit Agarwal, managing partner at venture debt firm @Alteria Capital, pointed out, as the slowdown approached and start-ups need capital to grow, neither the investors nor founders were willing to go for a down or flat round. As such, convertible rounds have spiked.

Pandemic- I'll go, but I'll leave a scar ;)
Pandemic is over, lockdown is over, let’s go out for shopping! But wait i have already ordered groceries online and I’m super lazy to move out, let’s Netflix and chill.
Pandemic is over, but it has left many scars on humans. One of them is laziness and procrastination. Humans were already lazy but pandemic has added an extra spice on that. People are not ready to move now, work from home is probably making this situation worse. There are so many health problems because of this; people are suffering from many lifestyle diseases, heart diseases, high blood cholesterol and many more. One cannot just follow a diet plan like intermittent fasting or keto diet, one cannot cure this. Unless you carry out some physical movements, your body won’t reply to you. You will feel like your day was totally unproductive (unless you are making $1000000).
The “pandemic lifestyle”, has become the new normal, and owing to that the people have become so inactive that they are not ready to be active again.
Move out from your home, take a bicycle, go for a walk, and meet your friends who you were uploading screenshots of zoom call with! Go on a date and have a real “dalgona coffee”.
Take a leave from social media feeds and have genuine heartfelt conversations. The horrors that followed us in the past two years have slowly started to fade. Our past life is over and now what waits is your present and future. I’m not saying binge watching or eating fries of Mc Donald’s is bad, but making this your daily lifestyle tends to take an unhealthy toll on you. You want to eat a whole box of peanut butter while watching friends? Go for it, it’s your life but there are so many other lives that are dependent on yours. Always remember...
NO ONE will be responsible for your current situation, neither pandemic, nor your family, nor your friends, nor your ex but YOU!

I’m trying to start a conversation both about why menstruation isn’t an inherently female thing — if trans men experience it, it can’t be truly female, can it? — and how talking about our bodies is sometimes the best way to fight dysphoria and learn new things about how to improve our lives.

Till date, patriarchy still exists all over the nation even though there has been a call for gender equality and women empowerment. However, a small number of tribes that reside in the state of Meghalaya live differently. Also known as the ‘Abode of Clouds’, Meghalaya is known for its matrilineal society, many of which are not generally practiced in the country. The women of the Khasi, Jaintia and Garo tribes have a more active role in their societies. In a family household, the birth of a baby girl is always celebrated. They are allowed to avail the same opportunities as men such as education and having a career. They can own properties and lands as well. Traditionally, the daughter is considered the preserver of her clan, family and lineage. The youngest daughter is the primary caretaker of her parents and inherits the land and property of the family. She continues to stay with her parents whereas her husband leaves his home to stay at his wife’s. Children are given the surname of their mothers by default. In some cases, a woman is allowed to intermarry in the society. She is equally and financially inclined to contribute to household expenses and her choice in a potential marital partner is hers alone. The Khasi community never acknowledged dowry and never gives or takes dowry at all. Although the society is matrilineal, the state of Meghalaya is not matriarchal. The father continues to be the traditional head of the family. In the village councils, the Dorbar Shnong and the panchayats, the representation of women in politics was earlier prohibited. Nowadays, it is allowed though participation is minimal. It may not always be a walk in the park for women as one can often witness domestic violence done against them in any society. Still, for decades, Meghalaya continues to live by its principles, proving to the world that women are more or less as important as men are in the society and can uplift their tradition and culture to great lengths.

Pansexuality
Hi! Previously we talked about bisexuality. Today, we'll talk about pansexuality.
Let's assume you randomly choose one individual from each gender that exists and make them stand in a line and glance at them from side to side. Well, a cinematographer would say that you're panning your vision from left to right, and that is how we'll visualize the term "pansexual".
A literal dictionary definition of bisexuality, due to the prefix bi-, is a sexual or romantic attraction to two sexes (males and females) or two genders (men and women). Pansexuality, however, composed with the prefix pan-, is the sexual attraction to a person of any sex or gender. Using these definitions, it is defined differently by explicitly including intersex, transgender, or outside the gender binary.
This identity is pretty common even though the term is lesser than or equally known than "bisexual." It is a sexual, romantic, or emotional attraction towards people regardless of their sex or gender identity. Pan people often refer to themselves as gender-blind, asserting that gender and sex are not the grounds to determine their romantic or sexual attraction to others.
It is a sexual orientation in itself or sometimes can be referred to as an offspring of bisexuality. Pans reject the binary gender as they are attracted to people who leniently consider themselves as "men" or "women" or even don't. This identity is a lot more inclusive than bisexuality.

Gender-Neutral Names By Supriya, intern at @just.lemmebe I believe gender-neutral names are the future. Why so? Lemme explain. Names are inherently genderfluid; they are made up, and so is their gender. But cross fitting names (masculine names on women and feminine names on men) might cause more harm than good. A gender-neutral name helps resolve it. Gender is a spectrum, and no matter where a person identifies to fall, so will the name. A lot of trans men and women, I know, also go on to change their names after transition or therapy, which they will not have to do. Their identities do not have to clash so much with their names. A neutral name also allows parents to let the child fit whoever he/she/they decide to identify as, in the future. Gender-neutral names open up a conversation about gender-neutral spaces and creates awareness about the spectrum gender exists in. I have grown with several people who had neutral names, and I cannot thank their parents enough, whether they thought of this concept or not. Some of those names are Krishna, Samarpreet, Dew, Soumya, Charu, etc. Although in India, gender isn't disclosed before birth, even to the parents, the west has celebrated the idea of gender reveal parties. That, to me, is questionable. To reveal gender is to ascertain it and affirm the idea that gender has several entities and isn't a spectrum. It is to already restrict an unborn baby to stereotyped binary gender norms. It is not only limiting but often also suffocating. Even Jenna Karvunidis, the woman to start gender reveal parties, now regrets it because it is problematic. Ironically, the baby girl born after that reveal is someone who expresses herself by wearing suits. #GenZ #GenerationZ #Millenials #youth #Blogs #Blogging #OnTheBlog #ReadNow #instagood #instadaily #Instahub #Instagrammers #LemmeBe #Gratitude #lgbtq🌈 #lgbtqally #Motivation #Lifestyle #genderneutralnames #genderneutralnamesonly #lgbtqai https://www.instagram.com/p/CROqMmPJbOO/?utm_medium=tumblr

While introducing Sheena after her marriage, everyone said, "Ye humari Ghar ki Lakshmi hai!". But when asked if she earns, in a condescending way her in-laws said, "Humara ladka accha to Kamata hai".
Tumblr media
This isn't just Sheena's story, it's the story of many women who are always on their toes, some even give up on their dreams so that the dreams of their loved ones could be achieved. It's been the adhoc nature of domestic work, for ages we've heard, "Behind every successful man, there is an ever rooting and cheering woman". But then why does no one cheer her? Why does her work at home not considered to be work but duty?
Tumblr media
Domestic labour is never looked at as a job but as a pillar to the family. But have you ever noticed if for one day that pillar doesn't stand, everything around comes to a halt, yet it's the profession that's taken for granted so easily. Just because someone doesn't bring money home doesn't mean that they rest all day, they make sure that the money brought into the house is put into good use for the family to maintain peace for all.
Tumblr media
It's high time that we break such age-old thoughts, where we look down or do not even consider someone's hard, both physical and emotional, worth. It's time we respect them and give up the patriarchal thoughts that just holds them down.
Tumblr media
From dawn to dusk if the whole family runs smoothly outside, it's because of that someone who runs inside to do everything irrespective of the fact that they are unpaid, the least we could do for them is to acknowledge and appreciate them for their unconditional love and support that keeps us going.
"Vo Ghar ki Lakshmi nahi", "Vohi Ghar ki Lakshmi hai."

Japan: Menstrual Leave
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was recently announced in Spain that a draft had been approved for a bill introducing menstrual leave. Well, that's excellent news, and it is a matter of celebration. But according to some reporters, Spain is not the first country; rather, they argue that Taiwan and Japan were the first countries with menstrual leave.
Actually, Japan introduced this menstrual leave as an industrial right way back in 1947. But do you know that less than 10 percent of Japan's menstrual workforce regularly apply for menstrual leave?
A recent survey revealed that menstruators in Japan feel reluctant to apply for menstrual leave when they have a male superior or because very few other menstruators use those menstrual leave. Apart from this, other societal factors include the expectation to work even while sick or sometimes the shame associated with menstruation.
Moreover, there is one crucial catch here. The Japanese government has made the law, but there is no specific system in place or any clear instructions from the government on applying for menstrual leave. On top of that, the rules and regulations of every other company are different. One company asks for a doctor's slip, while some other company asks for proof that the menstruator is in severe pain to justify taking a day off.
Well, the rules look like being in the book for a long time without being practically implemented for various reasons, as mentioned earlier. Please let us know what you think about this period of leave in Japan and your thoughts about menstrual leave in India.

Menstruation: Unpacking the myth
Remember when you got the infamous ‘talk’ about period, sex, pubic hair, odour, and other bodily changes that signalled puberty is coming? I got that around my sixth grade when the conversation about 'becoming a woman' and menstrual cycles happened. Somehow, one of the boys I knew while growing up used to think that women were always on their periods. Yeah, no. As in, we bled forever. We get it. Talking about blood can make everyone a little squeamish, so we thought we would explain some of the myths and facts about menstruation to clear a few things.
