I am learning how to be alone and enjoy myself while simply existing for myself. I just I freaking miss being happy in my own skin, being happy being myself and loving myself and who I am and who I will become.

i can’t be the only one
[id: distracted boyfriend meme, the text “me” is on the man, the text “listening to my body” is on the woman he’s ignoring, the text “overworking my body for no good reason” is on the woman that the man is checking out. /end id]

Autistic culture is randomly switching your conversation style mid sentence. Specifically going from the most eloquent person you’ve ever met to talking like the child of a hill billy and a british pop star.

Me: thinks I’m being helpful by sharing things I’ve learned about mental health and such
Brain: Stop sounding like a know it all, you’re wrong and you’re being toxic because you’re speaking for a demographic you don’t belong to.
Me: Okay, but have you considered that the reason you feel that way is because I’m mentally ill? A healthy brain doing think that way.

Reminder that if you confront someone about something they’ve done wrong (eg parents being emotionally neglectful) and they say “I’m sorry you feel that way”, that’s not a real apology. That statement doesn’t acknowledge their own actions towards you and instead passively diverts the blame back to you.

high support needs disabled people are loved and valued
if you need help using the bathroom you arent gross whatsoever and you aren't disgusting and you are loved
if you need help cooking or eating you aren't a burden you aren't talentless you aren't bland and you are loved
if you need help bathing you aren't alone you aren't lazy you aren't a baby and you are loved
if you need help that any "normal" person can do i love you and i hope you will receive the care you need if you aren't getting it already
high support needs disabled people are loved and beautiful and not broken

Guide on how to self dx?
write a list of all your symptoms (or phenomenon you think might be symptoms)
read the criteria for the disorders you think you might have, and see if there’s any you can cancel out immediately
colour code your symptoms list according to disorders (if there’s multiple things you think it could be)
start a symptoms journal. at this stage, get out of spaces for the disorder you think you have, so that you’re not influenced by others. purely keep track of what YOU are experiencing
listen to the experiences of people who have the disorder. ask questions. see if you’re relating to their lived experiences as well as with the criteria
see if there are any documentaries, audiobooks, articles, podcasts, or similar about the disorder. listen to the experiences of people who work with people with the disorder you think you have
that’s pretty much it. listen to both experts and those who live with the disorder. listen to your instincts. trust that you may never know for sure. and ask lots of questions

Autistic Person: "I can't do this."
Society: "That's because you're not even trying. You're using your autism as an excuse. You should be ashamed of yourself."
Autistic Person: "I can do this."
Society: "Then you've been faking your autism, which is offensive to real autistic people who actually struggle. You should be ashamed of yourself."

happy disability pride month to people with BFRB’s (body focused repetitive behaviors) like dermatillomania, trichotillomania, nail biters, etc
BFRB’s are so hard to spread awareness and positivity for because, at least for me, mentioning skin-picking, hair-pulling etc can often just be triggering 😩 but know there’s no shame, and they’re SO much more common than you think. I have so many ADHD friends come up to me later and say “YOU have trich too??” and like. It’s so nice knowing we’re not alone in this, it just doesn’t get talked about often.

After fighting with my entire university (with the help of my doctor and neurologist). I graduated. But holy shit did it take SUCH A FIGHT
colleges are like: we hate disabled people, we hate sick people, we hate our baseline student but if you need accommodations we hate you much much more, we don’t think you deserve an education if you will have to miss classes because of your chronic illness or disability, we don’t care if you live or die in fact we hope you die
