a fibercrafts discord server: funky fibercrafts!

i know fibercrafts should technically be written fibrecrafts but that makes no sense

funky fibercrafts is a server about any and all textile crafts! we've got yarn crafts, we've got fabric crafts, we've got an "other" category, whatever your heart desires! (these categories all have more specific channels as well for the common crafts!)

if you need help we've got helper roles you can ping, as well as a forum channel especially for asking for help (and also for giving tips without a question being asked), which is neat because it allows specific questions to get a lot of attention while also leaving the craft channels open for casual chatting!

we've also got a verification system to keep everyone safe, so if you join the server and see nought but one channel, that's how things should be, your discord isn't broken, just follow the instructions and you'll be verified!

besides those helper roles there's also a bunch of other roles, like pronoun roles, age range roles, dm boundary roles and ofc craft interest roles

made a little flower pouch bag charm for my lip balm tin to live in

i used the Mini Popcorn Flower Square on ravelry with two strands of cotton held together, made two, and then added an extra row on both sides where i did shenanigans to make the two squares be attached on 3 sides, and then made a button with a modified popcorn

modified how? just kinda. pulled the working loop through a couple more times to make it rounder. no science was invovled in the making of this pouch

Oak Tree — a Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries drabble zine

so a drabble is a work of fiction that's exactly a 100 words, and as such, this drabble i wrote fits within the confines of an 8 page zine

if you're not familiar with the fandom, it's a detective show set in the 1920s in Melbourne, where very Modern Woman Phryne Fisher becomes a lady detective and bothers Jack Robinson into helping her solve cases. (Jack has been separated from his wife since before he met Miss Fisher. just fyi)

this is the first fic i ever finished and posted, so it's quite dear to me

to see a fairy: a kaleidotrope drabble zine

i wrote this drabble, and since it was only a 100 words, being a drabble, i decided to turn it into a zine!

if you don't know the fandom, this is a fanfic for a fiction podcast called kaleidotrope, it's only 10 episodes and "a queer fannish romcom" and takes place on a maybe magical college campus where fanfic tropes happen for real. or do they...

it's also implied magic is real besides the trope magic that's maybe real, and i think that's the case and this is canon compliant

a zine about wanting to make a zine to tide me over not having a good printer at my disposal at the moment. i usually print my zines with a printer that's also bad, but that lets me print colour and with basically no margins at least.

i had to finagle this with an outline so i could cut off the margins the printer didn't let me turn off

and as a result it's also rather wonkly. but i wanted to make a zine, so i did

2. pronouns

currently i literally just have very simple he/she designs, but i plan on making some cute ones with flowers or something.

ones with just he/she and ones with "my pronouns:" preceding it because i think the few times i went out with a pin that said he/she people may have thought i was just making a statement on gender inequality or something.

if you want your pronouns in my handwriting, feel free to ask. especially if neopronouns. and once i make Designs i'll try to have those pronouns represented in those too.

3. pride ichthys stickers/other things

if you don't know what ichthys is, it's a little fish that was first used as a christian symbol back in the 2nd century, i am christian and really like the symbol, but i also want to make it clear to people i am a queer christian, so i got myself a genderqueer pride ichthys sticker, and you can too! and lesbian! and rainbow pride! and more if i make more!

i plan on making a neocities! i will be hosting my zines there ideally, and maybe other things. i'm currently still in the stage of "brushing up on html basics" so it'll be a while before i'm done but i want to name it so it Exists

(neocities is a web hosting service that people make really cool personal websites on about basically anything. it's like old web vibes)

another corset belt! i basically did almost all of this within 2 days (one of which spent mostly on trains with little else to do) and then procrastinated the lacing holes.

my magnum opus, a blackwork turtle i started in april 2020. according to messages at the time the outline took me three days so i reckoned the whole thing would take me months. maybe i'll finish it this year!

this is my emotional support emergency project, she's so creased cause she usually lives in this pouch that goes in my bag and everywhere with me

many of the patterns are from string-or-nothing, an invaluable resource for blackwork

i'm considering making this an oc. the file was literally called "undecided", i really just started drawing, but i like this design. considering specifically making her a goddess oc, part of some sort of fictional pantheon. if you have thoughts on what she could be the goddess of, let me know :>

now comes my least favourite part of crocheting up the sides and hopefully getting the same amount of stitches on both sides and then making lacing holes

after several hours of being on trains i have another corset belt in the works. the stitch pattern was highly inspired by this pattern (instagram link)

i made another one of these corset belts! i made most of it at the end of february and then. stopped

but it's done now! i think this will be one of my most versatile ones, because of the solid colour and not tooo exciting pattern, it goes with many tops. sometimes i need to learn that fun yarn doesn't equal fun garment i'll wear lots

the pattern is actually pretty much the same as my first corset belt, which is unwearable because i used a 4mm hook and with the strain that the fabric gets you need to be using a hook that's as small as possible for the yarn you're working with, which in this case means a 2.5. a 3mm also gets the job done alright, but 2.5 i do think is an improvement

i used 42 grams of durable comfy for this
