Notes on Magic
Notes On: The Elements of Spellcrafting by Jason Miller Key 3: Make Sure Your Life is Enchantable How Flexible Are You? Magic is an influence upon reality, not a reality-breaking force (usually.) If you do a spell to get money, it is going to manifest through mundane means that have a logical explanation. The spell will have influenced those events, but it is not going to make it rain 20-dollar bills from the sky. If you plan on magic having a role in your life, you need to be able to maximize the potential for that magic to manifest in ways that you will appreciate. So ask yourself: is your life enchantable? Love Shows Up on a Doorstep Let’s use love magick as an example; despite stories you may have heard of someone conducting a love spell only to find their one true love waiting on their doorstep a few days later, most of the time our efforts will not create such extraordinary results When performing love magic, there are a lot of ways to make life more enchantable. The first step would be to turn off the PlayStation and get out to places where you might meet people of similar interests. How do you look? How do you dress? Are you skilled at starting conversation? You don’t have to become someone else; just make this area of your life more enchantable by brushing up on social skills and grooming. In fact, let’s make that our second rule of thumb: Keep your magical and mundane efforts pointed in the same direction. Financial Flexibility Money spells for small amounts usually find a way to come through in things like paid focus groups, short term side jobs, unexpected gifts, bank orders, found wallets, etc. Spells for larger sums or significant financial changes can lead to things like uncomfortably sudden job changes or a family member dying and leaving an inheritance. If you are a business owner, you can expect this in the form of more customers, higher-paying customers or inspiration for a new product. Just keep in mind while planning your spellwork: magic will take the path of least resistance. Health Enchantability It is important to know that you should never substitute medical attention and/or care with magic. If you are concerned for your health in anyway, see or speak with a doctor. Remember, magic is an influence. So we have to ask ourselves “how enchantable is my body?” Well, how enchantable are your habits? Your environment? The things that affect your health? These are questions that must be implemented in healing magic. Dangers of Forcing Magic into an Unenchantable Situation Nutty stuff happens when you force magic into impossible situations. There are dangers in magic; offended spirits, malefic curses, demonic obsession, so on. However, most concerning, is magic applied in unskilled and counter productive ways. Try not to force a truly unenchantable situation with magic. When planning, you should think of how your spell could possibly manifest. You don’t have to steer it in that direction necessarily, as that would take away from avenues for manifestation that you aren’t aware of. You do, however, have to think about how enchantable your life is towards any goal. If your life is not particularly open to the kind of magic you are doing, you need to realize that it may not manifest or perhaps just give underwhelming results. If you force the issue with stronger magical insistence, then be ready for things to blow up. The Take Away The problem this key looks to solve is forcing magic to manifest in lives that are not easily adapted to enchantment. The solution is not always easy. It may require opening a business, doing serious personal identity work or even move to a new city where there are more opportunities.

Grace, power, cooperation, balance, peace, restoration The High Priestess calls you to allow things to come together rather than pull them apart. Rather than working against a problem, try working with it; the key to the High Priestess is collaboration, not direction. Try to think intuitively and with compassion as you project your perspective today and trust that the messaages you are receiving are coming from a place of care and higher wisdom. Stawberry Glamour ~*
This is a simple glamour that can enhance your attractiveness in many ways, to many people! The purpose of this spell is to give you a boost of confidence in your physical appearance, your communication skills, your creative abilities and other qualities you possess that people find attractive. Think your nose is pretty cute? Think you’re funny? Smart? Do you have a creative talent? Like your thighs and your tummy? People will be drawn to these qualities and take more notice of them, as will you when assessing yourself! This is a self love glamour as much as it can affect others. Ingredients - 1 ripe strawberry - 1 small bowl or saucer - 1 fork Time of Day Perform during a waxing moon, preferably on a Thursday or Friday if the calendar allows. Super effective every Thursday or Friday when the moon is in Libra. Make sure you cleanse your tools and cast your circle to protect yourself. Do a cleansing bath and cleanse yourself of negative energies beforehand if you’ve been feeling especially down on yourself. Hold the strawberry as you visualize people looking twice at you, complimenting your appearance, approaching you to chat. They laugh at your jokes and are enchanted by your thoughts and opinions. They think you are alluring and intriguing and they want to know more. People are utterly charmed by you and if they don’t want your romantic love, they aspire to be in your close circle and be touched by your aura. Think of specific people if that is part of your goal with this glamour.
Put the stawberry in your bowl or on your saucer and plate and gently mash it with your fork. Anoint your lips with the stawberry juice, kiss the juice off your fingers. This should be a sensual act. Eat the mashed bits of stawberry, enjoying the sweetness of the juice rolling down your tounge as you suck on the pulp, seeds gently bursting between your teeth. As you do this, say aloud: “The words I speak, The smiles I smile, Be made sweet, As bee to flower, As honey to fly, I draw you nigh.”

An Introduction to Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus is an Australian evergreen that has multiple medicinal uses outside of its magical properties. It’s thick, gummy leaves cannot be eaten in their raw form but when dried and ground up, can be boiled into a tea or distilled into oil. Through this, it can be used as a natural anti inflammatory agent for clearing sinuses, reducing cold and pain symptoms. Breathing in its strong, herbaceous smell will decrease the activity of the sympathetic nervous system, which makes it excellent at reducing anxiety. In magic, it’s mundane attributes only contribute to its magical uses. Representing the elements of water and air and corresponding with the moon, eucalyptus can be a powerful aid in spells for clarity, focus, protection, purification and healing. It’s ruling deities are Mercury and Venus, so it offers these things from a place of compassion - it refreshes energy, soothes regret and worries, calms exhaustion, relieves concern. It great for cleansing tools, warding off nightmares and creating shields that protect without attacking. It is peaceful and subtle, a plant with a planetary ruling that makes for extremely potent spell work.

Journal 4
Things are really coming together nicely. And becoming a little intense. I don’t really mean that in a bad way though. Doing daily offerings to my spirit guides has been illuminating.
I put up my spirit house rules before doing any spell work, to ensure we were all in good standing and that none of my own boundaries would be crossed going forward on this path. In Alan Chapman’s book Advanced Magick for Beginners, he mentions a crossroads every magician must face when walking their path; the decision to leave magick behind or to go “balls to the wall.” To embrace it and truly live it, no matter how scary and unfamiliar that can sometimes be. To not turn back. I knew I was fast approaching that point so I figured it best to prepare. The cleansing process was peaceful. I lit honeysuckle incense, to keep things sweet, and white pillar candles, to keep intentions pure, throughout the house and played old romantic music on my bluetooth speaker, to keep the mood light, soft, warm and kind. I cleansed with a smudge stick of flowers; I believe rose and lavender were wrapped up in it. It was peaceful and calming and after the three day ritual, I felt a lot easier throughout my house. Even at night, in the dark, when I get particularly scared and feel particularly claustrophobic, I have lately felt at ease and unafraid - I am aware of the rules I have set in place and I know the spirits are as well. I know I have communicated my boundaries and that I am fair to do so. I know that I can banish and have the power to banish anything I please. So now, when I feel energies I’m unfamiliar with, instead of being scared, I instead accept it as something that is simply that - unfamiliar. I’m not quite there yet, but soon I’ll interact. First I want to get a better understanding of who I’m dealing with. Especially because of what happened tonight during my daily offering. I’ve been leaving daily offerings of water, tea, liquor, coffee, herbs, honey, incense, ash, oils, coins, etc. for a few weeks now and I can definitely say the energy during that offering has become palpable. I don’t just simply leave these things on an alter, but I have my own ritual - I light an incense - lately it has been honeysuckle - and refresh their cup. I leave the cup there and I don’t use it for anything else. I light a white candle that I have dressed with dragon’s blood, to amplify the energy I offer and the quality of our communication. I then say, “I respectfully and lovingly give this offering of (type of offering) the higher powers of the universe - the elements, light, sound - to the gods and goddesses, priests and priestesses who work their benevolent will, to the spirits of this land, this house, my ancestors and all that protect animals, to my benevolent spirit guides and to anyone in this life and past, this realm and others, that I owe karmic debts.” I offer my energy every time. When I first started doing this, began placing my palms in front of me and turning them upward. Lately, however, I’ve been feeling very intense upward pushes of energy, almost as if my hands are being raised by something else now. My hands form a sort of strange gesture, that feels instinctual and again, directed by a strange force of energy. The left hand raises up, as if I’m raising my hand, and the right seems to support it, like I’m pushing a cube of energy upwards. I’ve felt that energy increase nightly. Tonight, as I raised my hand, it felt almost as if a warm energy wrapped around it, as if someone had wrapped their hand around mine. It was intimidating and intense but something about it felt solidified. I stayed focused and tried not to flinch from it. It felt reassuring, as if a sign that what I am doing is beginning to work - that I am truly tapping into something. I’m going to consider this my first real success. I know there have been others, but this is the first thing that feels revelatory. Something I am trying to be wary of, as I figure this out, is if it felt so reassuring because it was a positive energy or if it felt that way simply because it’s a result?

What does today have to offer me? What energies? What lessons are there to be learned? The Lovers Element: Air Ruling Planet: Mercury Keywords: Love, harmony, relationships, value alignment, major choices This is what you wanted. You’re really pulling in good energy with the people close to you. All your close connections are giving back today. You have been opening up to romantic love and learning about love magic, so this is a sign from the universe that you are on the right track and your values are aligning with what it wants for you. As you’ll be meeting with a friend later, this could be a good opportunity to talk to them about that serious thing you wanted to talk to them about; they’ll be open to it. You have a good relationship based on trust and open communication, so you can talk. If you’re feeling nervous, bring a chunk of lapis lazuli along with you to make the conversation flow smoothly.

The most incredible thing just happened. I just got a huge confirmation that my daily practices are paying off.
My roommate’s have two cats and I have a habit of not locking the back door. When the back door isn’t locked, the cats have a habit of busting it open and getting out. Being that it was 3:00 AM this time, it wasn’t exactly peak hours for this to happen. The both of them were asleep and I began to panic. I searched the front and back yard, but there was no sign of them. I put a bowl of wet food on the porch and hoped for the best. I know cats come back often, but the way this happened felt truly aligned. I waited awhile; to see if maybe they’d get the outdoor romp out of their systems. I looked around again and still no sign. I waited awhile longer and was struck with the idea to ask my spirit guides for assistance. I prepared my form of communication (one which I do not feel comfortable disclosing for the internet) and asked for guidance, with an offering of light and energy in exchange. I asked them to please guide the cats home safely before morning. Once I did so, I decided to check outside one more time on an impulse. From under the porch I heard a small meow. I called out. Trico jumped up from under the porch and happily trotted over to the door. Nearly dancing, I picked her up and as I opened the door to plop her down inside, Freyja darted in like a lightning bolt behind her. I have been keeping up with daily offerings the past few days and being attentive to my energy; listening to messages from the universe. I feel this is truly a result of my small efforts paying off and a confirmation to keep going. A call to the path.

Notes on Magic
Notes On: The Elements of Spellcrafting by Jason Miller Key 2: Stop Making Crappy Goals Set a long term goal for something you want to change with Magic. Analyze it through these steps. Impossible and Highly Improbable Goals There are no spells that are going to make you invisible. Put off your plans of magical bank robbing. You can’t change your appearance to look like Sailor Moon or create a girlfriend like in Weird Science. These are impossible goals. It’s not that miracles never happen or that paranormal phenomena do not ever manifest, but you shouldn’t ever bank on them as a life plan. Highly improbable goals are also crappy. This doesn’t mean hard goals, but highly improbable goals, like winning the lottery or casting a spell to get someone struck by lightning. It’s not worth spending a lot of time on. The Lame Goal This is the opposite of the improbable goal. It is uninspiring and barely worth the effort. A good goal is inspiring. It lights a fire in the belly. It is a reason to charge into the temple at dawn or head to the graveyard at 3 A.M. Just because we are not going for the impossible or highly improbable does not mean we can’t strive for greatness. We should not limit ourselves. This is not true only of material success, but spiritual goals as well. We may think we are being humble by saying we only seek modest attainments, but examples of great people exist to inspire greatness. In stories of the great Sorcerer turned Saint Milarepa, his attainment and wisdom seemed so far beyond his students that they insisted he must be the incarnation of some powerful Holy Man or Buddha. He scolded them and said that to insist that they were incapable of the same results showed a lack of faith in the teachings which promise enlightenment to any who dutifully practice. Even if we don’t become millionaires or celebrities, deliberately cutting ourselves off from that right at the start is no way to live your life. Vague and Immeasurable Goals The next type of crappy goal to avoid is the vague and immeasurable goal. Things like “I want wealth,” “I want to be healthy,” and “I want to be enlightened are all noble, but vague and immeasurable. Take “I want to be rich” for example. If you evoke Tzadkiel, the Angel of Jupiter, and say “I want to be rich,” what is the metric he’s going to use? Maybe he looks on the world and sees that people who make over $40,000 a year are in the top 1% of the world and then looks at your $60,000 and decides “you look pretty rich to me already.” However, if you ask to get promoted to a position where you are making $100,00 a year, as well as boost sales on your side business website by 30% this year, this is something specific he can grab onto. It’s also something you can measure yourself against. If you want to lose weight, then you need to know how much you want to lose. If you want to make money, you need to know how much you want to make. If you want to have a fulfilling romantic life, you need to know what you want out of it. If you want to reach spiritual enlightenment, you need to know how you are going to measure it. Whatever it is you are looking to do with your magic, you should be able to measure it somehow. Setting Goals is Not an Accomplishment Did you set a good goal? That’s awesome! But you haven’t done squat. The last type of crappy goal is one that is not acted on. If you really take the time to examine your life, discover a lot of the self-sabotaging and negative inner scripts that you have been running, and take the time to figure out where you really want to be spiritually, materially, romantically, or socially, it can be a hugely satisfying and uplifting experience. It provides direction where formerly there was none. Avoid fetishizing your goal.Your goal does not need to be written in a Moleskine bought specially for that purpose; it just needs to be accomplished. Sigilize the goal for a working, but don’t obsess over it. So, What is a Good Goal? Pretty much anything you want to do with Magic that avoids these traps. Your goal is difficult enough to warrant using Magic, but not so improbable that it would need a miracle; important enough to warrant action. A great goal seems to have its own gravity that pulls you towards it. Lastly, it’s measurable. It’s something you can look at and say “That worked!” or “That didn’t work. Time to try something else.” A rule of thumb that will always keep your goal on track: Make a plan that can happen without Magic. Then use Magic to make sure it does. The Take Away Three suggestions after setting your goal: 1. Take action immediately after setting your goal. What is the first step? 2. Plan out the next several steps that you need to take after that first one, and assign them dates and times. If it doesn’t have a date and time, it’s not a real step. 3. A week later, look at your steps. If you did not do them when you said you would, you need to examine why. It usually is either a) you realize that you don’t want this right now as much as you say you do, or b) you need to figure out some way to keep yourself to it using pleasure/pain principals because will power alone isn’t cutting it.

The Three Primes
According to alchemists, Mercury, Salt and Sulphur are the three-fold aspects of all phenomena - to be found in all compounds of a mineral or organic nature. Esoterically, Mercury represents Spirit, Salt represents Body, and Sulphur represents Soul. Every phenomena and object in nature is believed to posses these three attributes. Philosophically, Mercury is the Mind, Salt is Will and Wisdom and Sulphur is Love. Sulphur molds a person into a balanced individual, with a desire and motive to act creatively. Salt actually bestows the individual with the Will and Power to act. Mercury, the intellectual principal, is the coordinating factor of both Sulphur and Salt.
