BEBO - Can one tool really simplify your Streaming?
As someone who has been trying to get back into streaming in a more serious and scheduled way, it has been a bit rough trying to juggle so many different tools. My normal streaming setup looks something like this: Xsplit Broadcaster (Main Streaming Application), Restream.io (For multi-streaming and chat), Streamlabs.com (For Alerts and Viewer interaction), Strexm (for overlays), etc... Depending on what I am trying to stream there could be even more software added to that stack. It can make it not only difficult to keep track of everything, but also very difficult to troubleshoot when anything goes wrong. The fewer services you use, the less complicated it gets, but no one service or software seems to have all the features you may want as a streamer. How can you simplify the streaming process without losing the features you want? This is what BEBO is trying to do for you.
BEBO (https://bebo.com/) is a new streaming software that takes the place of applications like XSplit or OBS. The goal of BEBO is to make streaming as easy as possible. The way the team at BEBO approaches this is by giving you a streaming client that either has all the types of services and features you need built directly in, or integrates with them directly. What exactly does that mean?
Well for starters BEBO includes it’s own services for donations, alerts and many other commonly needed features for streamers. If you already have these types of services setup through other providers, that is OK too! BEBO includes integration with most of these services directly in the tool including Streamlabs and others. If you have more complex needs than what the built in options give you, then you can still use similar URL based overlay add-ons similar to the way you would do it in OBS or XSplit. Another benefit of using the built in services like donations directly through BEBO is that they do not take any cut of the donation and they also cover charge backs, etc... This gives you the benefit of focusing on streaming and creating content instead of dealing with all the additional stuff that usually comes along with streaming. It should be noted that for some of the benefits such as covering charge backs, etc... you do need to be a BEBO Alpha Partner. You can still sign up currently to become an alpha partner as the software is still in a pre-release state. If you want to find out more about the Alpha Partner Program you can find it here: BEBO Alpha Partner Request
So one thing to note is that BEBO is still pre-release. This means that it is not fully launched and is still actively in development and I mean “ACTIVELY”. There have been many days where multiple new releases/updates of the software have been released. This has it’s pros and cons. If you find an issue with the software chances are that the BEBO team will jump right on it. They have a very active Discord (https://discord.gg/ZFpnkY7) where you can directly talk to the developers and engineers that are working every day (18+ hours a day is not uncommon). They also already have a pretty active and helpful community built up.
The fact that it is still pre-release also means that not all the features are there yet. For example currently you can only stream at 720p, though it does support 60 frames per second. Also, the current builds only support streaming to Twitch which may be a no go for those of you that prefer streaming to other services like Mixer or YouTube directly. All of this is in the works and you can find the current development road map to see what is currently being worked on and what is next on their plate here: BEBO RoadmapÂ
For now the only piece I am really missing is 1080p support which they are currently adding and support for local video saves during streaming. Outside of that, the streaming experience with BEBO is very straightforward and simple. They have even integrated directly with Twitch Temple (Nerd or Die) to allow you to add pre-built overlays directly to your stream. This includes animated Starting, AFK and Stopping scenes for your stream as well.
So far I have to say that I am loving BEBO as a streaming tool! I will most likely be switching to it exclusively once resolutions above 720p are added. BEBO is completely free and already looking to be a big entry into the streaming client category that will make things so much easier as a streamer! For more information you can visit the official BEBO site. If you want more info on the features or current limitations feel free to swing by the discord and if you want to go ahead and try it out feel free, here’s my invite to you, feel free to try it out and let me know what you think: Join BEBO
Well, that’s it for now, I’ll make sure to update my experiences with BEBO as more features are added. For now if you want to see how easy it is to setup and stream with BEBO you can watch this video (Note: this is not my video):
