Not dependent on the responses, but I’m curious to get some general feedback!
I am interested in opening a small shop (via Etsy or another service, still deciding upon that) that will offer letters and a pen pal service for fictional characters across all fandoms I am familiar and experienced with.
These letters could be in a digital or physical form, customized and decorated, and may even come with small handmade trinkets for the fandom or character. A pen pal service would be offered in tandem for those who would like to reply to the letters, which then would of course feel further personalized because of that back-and-forth communication.
It’s a venture I’ve wanted to try for several years, especially since I’ve myself used similar services a time or two previously, and it was a lovely experience to receive a letter from a character I liked! I feel it’s a nice way to try and spread some kindness in the world in a way that utilizes the skills I’ve inadvertently grown in the last decade.

After finding out that there’s no high-quality template or map available for the Boku no Hero Academia fantasy AU, I decided to make one myself!
I tried to keep somewhat close to what was shown in the ending sequence, but took several liberties since a bit of the continent was obscured by clouds, text or was simply cut-off in the screen. The terrain was also eyeballed at best, because doing anything with that level of detail in a vector program (I used illustrator) is an Experience™.
Regardless, there’s multiple versions available if anyone wants to use what I’ve made and tweak it to work with their version of the AU–and please feel free to use it however you like, all I ask is for credit and a link back to my blog.

Him: You see, my name is actually ████, but my kids just call me dad

First there’s the dad. Dishonorably discharged and court martialed, former US Army officer. He’s 36, and was SUPER OP when he was younger. His quirk was basically alchemy from FMA mixed with the fluidity of bending from ATLA. Contact with whatever he was moving was how it worked, but he figured out how to transfer his quirk through /atoms in the air/ so he was just hoping around bending the physical world to his will. (Like I said, super op.)
He can’t do much of that anymore though, because after the army used him, and a few others, to test out a long term low dose quirk enhancement drug, that he was told were vitamins, he accidentally OD on them.
He wasn’t taking them everyday, and he thought “whatever their vitamins” he never thought it was weird that they’d get their pills counted out every month. But, ya know, hindsight.
So when he realized inspection was coming around and he had too many pills, he just popped them all, expecting an upset stomach at worst.

First of all, I would like to say that your telling of this family’s story is an absolutely chaotic ride from start to finish and I love it. Seriously, here are some of my favorite lines that I just fucking Vibe(tm) with:
It took getting smacked by a live power line to put him down.
[He] promptly punched said commanding officer as hard as he could in the nads.
(Did I mention? My mans is trans!)
Yep, twins. A girl and a blob.
And since all she knew how to do was be herself, she’d inadvertently made her brother a clone.
Sam had a bit of a crush on Midoriya, but Lilith was ready to throw down with Bakugo the second she got the opportunity
I’m of the mindset that, unless I’m in a roleplay space where character balance is a necessity for people to have a fun time, I couldn’t care less about how powerful people make their self-inserts and OCs--if you’re having fun with it, then don’t let that sorta insecurity invalidate your good time! We all wanna feel like we can kick ass and take names yanno?
I also share Big Mood energy with this dad because I too am a trans man veteran, but alas I never had the chance to punch my commanding officer in the nads. I tip my hat to Mr. Dad for such a feat.

He nearly leveled the equivalent of about 10 city blocks, he was giggly, a bit high on power, and suffering from delirium caused by heat sickness. One side effect of overusing his quirk was his body overheating because (something something, physics, something something transfer of energy produces heat)
It took getting smacked by a live power line to put him down. He’s got a chunk of flesh missing from his left shoulder, and some gnarly Lindinburg figures projecting out from it. His left hand is considerably weaker and he’s blind in his left eye.
He came to, in a public hospital. Some paperwork issue or something prevented him from being transferred back to base.
(He doesn’t know this, but one of docs’ quirks was being able to tell the chemical composition of anything he tasted, a bit of a biohazard, but useful in a pinch. He threw up after getting just a small lick of blood, so they ran some tests, and found an unidentified chemical cocktail. They intentionally stalled to get the results and to see if he knew what he was taking)
After finding out that he was being used as a guinea pig for something that messed with his quirk (he tries not to see a person’s quirk as a judgement of their value, but a huge portion of his self esteem rested on his own quirk) he threw a fit, demanded to see his CO and promptly punched said commanding officer as hard as he could in the nads.
On paper, he was court martialed for assaulting a commanding officer, but in truth it was an excuse to discredit him so anything he said would be met with skepticism.
That didn’t entirely work though, the amount of damage done to himself and the areas around him after having a squeaky clean record made a bunch of people think something was up.
They were right.
So that left him with two options:
keep fighting tooth and nail to blow the whistle on this thing, ruin his life, publicly and financially, and probably not have anything happen. Because something this dangerous and unethical had to be approved from pretty high up the food chain.
Sign an indefinite NDA, get secretly subsidized by the US government and live out the rest of his life wherever he can find himself in relative peace. -also work as an on call black coat operative, his quirk may be jacked but he can still get some damage in from close range, and he’s pretty handy with a handgun-
He spends the first few months or so, just losing himself in drugs and alcohol. They had left him alone with his morphine drip, he got addicted and switched to opioids but quit when he found out he was pregnant. (Did I mention? My mans is trans!)
He didn’t want kids, but he couldn’t get a procedure in his current state, (both the actual state and coming down from a probably days long bender) and by the time he’d cleaned up he was ready to pop.
So he had the kids. Yep, twins. A girl and a blob. Literally, the one he’d start calling his son when the little goo ball got a concept of gender was born with his quirk. Shapeshifting, down to the cellular level (with enough practice) unfortunately little dude had to know what he wanted to change it and having no experience besides swimming in embryonic fluid, and wiggle to irritate sister he was just kinda there.
That was fun, 13 hours of labor, followed by the panic of a room full of doctors freaking out because they realized that thing was not the afterbirth but in fact another child.
The doctors freaking out made him realize he’d do anything for those kids, so that’s when he decided to keep them.
The first few months were a lot. He spent more time in the hospital than at home, they had to put the kid in what was basically a sensory deprivation tank that was set up to be a pseudo womb.
He couldn’t name them yet. The little girl got a name, Lilith, but he was scared that if he’d name them, something would happen, and they’d be filling out a death certificate immediately after the birth. He knew it wasn’t rational, but it made him feel better.
Speaking of Lilith, either she was born with her quirk as well, or it came in a few months after being born.
He was curled up with her, against the tank, when suddenly alarms started going off.
He looked inside and saw her, and for a fleeting, terrifying, exhausting moment he thought he had a teleporting infant on his hands. But she was still in his arms.
Puppeteer is what he called her quirk after things settled and some more testing could be done. Controlling people via contact through skin, (or conductive material, apparently)
And since all she knew how to do was be herself, she’d inadvertently made her brother a clone.
It took a lot of talking with specialists and pediatric Quirk scientists to approve, under intense supervision, that Lilith use her quirk on her brother and hopefully teach him to inadvertently stay human shaped and functional.
Almost their first birthday to the day was the first time that he stayed human shaped, on his own, for a whole day!
Baby blob’s first birthday present was a name, Samael (Sam or Sammy for short), and going home for the first time.
(are these OC’s named after biblical figures, both of which said fuck this, gave god the finger, and did their own shit? Yes, I’ve got a personal philosophy about names and that showed up here)
The first roughly three years, he’d been on call for some super shady shit before he realized that a lot of the places he was called to were pretty far from East Asia.
So with minimal planning, a favor, and a phone call to a friend they made working black coat, they had passports, plane tickets, and a decent apartment in the Mufastsu prefecture of Japan.
Elementary school was okay, Lilith (no you don’t get to call her Lily, you don’t have the friend privileges) and Sam (just Sam, maybe Sammy if he likes you) had the novelty of being from America to outweigh any bullying that may have been thrown at them because of their Quirks.
That would come later.
Middle school was bad, kids saw the two of them as scapegoats because of their “villainous Quirks”
“It wasn’t me! Sam did it while looking like me!”
“Lilith made me do it!”
Samael turned inward and started getting into tech, robotics, and support equipment, theoretically, you need permits for that.
Lilith got violent, only in instances of defense, but still violent. The two of them went to a different middle school for every year of it. Their second to last year they actually went to the same school as Midoriya and Bakugo.
Sam had a bit of a crush on Midoriya, and Lilith was ready to throw down with Bakugo the second she got the opportunity, this isn’t some tsundere thing, she just wants to see him eat dirt.
Their last year of middle school was pretty okay, considering the first two, and Lilith redirected her anger into helping Sam with his tech. Herself finding an interest in it as well.
They both applied for UA’s support course, (“You just wanna go cause Midoriya wanted to.” “I do not-”)
Lilith got in by the skin of her teeth, her record of fighting put her on a six month probation and prevented her from participating in the sports festival that year. She was devastated when she learned she lost an opportunity to make Bakugo do the chicken dance.

Absolutely! I love hearing about other people’s characters, especially when there’s so much creativity and uniqueness to them in a fandom like bnha c:
Go forth and tell me all about them! :D

You're a sweetheart, I did have a good day I made 2075 bucks, how was your day?
👏👏👏 now THAT’s making the good bank right there friendo, good for you! I hope it helps you be able to pay your bills and treat you to something nice, because you deserve it.
My day was fairly good, all things considered. My job is sorta hit-or-miss right now since I work in a pharmacy and 2020 has really been A Year for it, but having hobbies to focus on (like my writing) can help a lot keep the stress down

Introduction and information (Asxbox Open!)
Hello! My name is Daniel, and I’m just another writer on the internet with a lot of love for Boku no Hero Academia and plenty of thirst for its super-powered cast of characters, hero and villain alike. Though I started this blog sometime ago, I’ve recently gotten back into the series and figured it was a good excuse to make a post about it to let people know.
If you’d like to learn more about me as a person or writer (or check out my other blogs) you can find on those links on this post—it’s also pinned to the top of this blog’s page for easy access to mobile users!
I primarily write headcanons, drabbles and longer reader-insert content, though I also love to play with AUs, toss fic ideas around and discuss the details of the show. I write fluff and smut alike, so please be aware of that if you check out my work (I use the ‘lemon’ tag if it’s needed to blacklist).
I’ll write for (almost) any character, though I have plenty of favorites that I love to explore.
If you have an idea you want to see or a request for certain stuff, or even if you just wanna discuss something in the anime or manga (the latter of which i am mostly caught up), please send an ask or submission!

ngl I’m getting a lot of Big Ideas for that ‘halfway house for troubled villains’ idea from this post so bare with me as I ramble:
You are the manager and head therapist for a facility known as ‘Steele’s Halfway House for Troubled Villains’, owned by an American man named Daniel Steele. It’s a new facility that’s just expanded from the main home located in North America, but you’ve signed on to lead the new facility in Japan thanks in part to your extraordinary communication abilities, empathy, and also because you have the secret weapon of having two quirks perfectly suited for the job: Empath and Aggression Suppression.
These quirks allow you to not only ascertain someone’s current emotional state, but also to gently suppress any negative impulses or desires within a range from yourself, provided you are familiar with them to a degree. These abilities prove to make you an excellent therapist to what society might label as the most dangerous of villains, giving many of them a second chance at life in a society that you understand is very unfair in it’s current state. While many villains that come to the halfway house aren’t ever trusted by local government to truly go their own way, almost all of them find a home in the halfway house, and you couldn’t be more proud of them all.
Your newest group of housemates prove to be some of the most interesting yet, especially given the amount of public attention for them and their actions: the League of Villains, each of them with a terrifying background and a more terrifying list of crimes--but you’re committed to your ambitions and job, since the alternate option to any highly-ranked captured villain is always the same: Tartarus, and you believe they all have a chance to atone and better themselves against even an unfair society that drove them to villainy in the first place.
Do you have what it takes to help them?

Hi! I was wondering if you could do a few headcanons, for whichever characters you think would be the most interesting in this scenario- but getting saved by a civilian with a HYSTERICALLY OVERPOWERED QUIRK but they never even considered being a hero like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ they just like their quiet little 9-5 even though they could probably wipe the floor with some of the big leagues without too much effort? If not then it's totally cool. Thank you for your time! I really enjoy your writing
Izuku Midoriya is astounded that he’s never even heard of you. For a while he genuinely assumed you are some undercover or off-duty pro hero, but he’d be completely flabbergasted to learn that you’re just some office worker or similar who just happens to have a quirk with powers beyond measure.
Though he wouldn’t really dig very deep on the idea of ‘why didn’t you become a pro hero?’ because that’s a very personal question (and he can’t exactly blame anyone for not wanting to risk their life), he would definitely want to know more about your quirk and what it’s capable of. Depending on whether or not you want your capabilities kept a secret, Midoriya is more than willing to not tell anyone else--but you’ll definitely have earned your first fan regardless.
For real though, legit fan. He likes to send you letters.
Tomura Shigaraki would likely think you are a hero at first, given your abilities and prowess--but would just as quickly realize his mistake. Someone with such a powerful quirk who ISN’T being socially pressured to use it? He’d find it curious and interesting, and you as something of an oddity, if only because the behavior seems to go against what most other people in your position would do. Even if someone didn’t have a desire to use a strong quirk purely for saving other people, simple greed and selfishness for getting paid for hero work often puts many so-called pro heroes to the streets.
Depending on how you talk and interact with him, Shigaraki might see you as what he calls a ‘middle-ground NPC’. You’re not an ally, but you’re certainly not an outright enemy. Though he doesn’t exactly care about harm coming to non-combatants in the League of Villains’ doings, he can’t completely disregard your very respectable abilities; perhaps he could make an ally out of you if he tried hard enough...
Keigo Takami (Hawks) is not normally a man who needs saving, but neither is he completely indestructible. Since most civillians aren’t trained or expected to use their quirks even in the most dire of situations, your saving of him at first leads him to believe you are simply an off-duty pro hero. One glance at your face, however, as well as the ease that you offer him your name, is proof enough to the contrary. You hold yourself very differently than most heroes; too honestly, too forward, too open. For a short while he’s absolutely baffled, given how powerful your quirk is--and he (unlike Midoriya) outright asks how you’re not on the careerpath of a hero with a quirk like yours.
The idea of having a powerful quirk is not new, but the idea that someone with a strong quirk doesn’t HAVE to use it for society’s desires is...equally unfamiliar and refreshing for Hawks. The conversation might even spawn a genuine friendship with him, especially once you explain it proper: “I won’t turn a blind eye to someone in need, but I put my own happiness first. This is my life to live, and it doesn’t belong to anyone else.”

Legit that’s one of the cutest ideas I’ve ever heard i’d like 300 fics about it pls
This may be my inner Bard talking but another thing I've always wanted is Mood Music: making or listening to music and it gives buffs or thematic powers based on the song. Usually used to make Cool Music Video Fight Scenes in my head but I love the thought of kicking ass to the beat or completely bewildering people with dramatic entrances and dance numbers. Usually has at least one scene of captured by villains and saying "Unless you want me vibrating through the wall you WILL Let Me Hum."
Kurogiri: You have no right to demand anything from your captors-
Shigaraki: No let them hum I’m not taking any chances here

Crimson Wings and Broken Masks was as soft as my pillow, I totally needed that just thinking about how tired I am and work tomorrow, I can say it was my favourite work of yours, I hope you have a great day.
Thank you for telling me this! I’m often in the same position with my own job right now and find some refuge in fandom stuff, so I’m humbled my work was able to offer you comfort in the same way.
You do your best to kick major ass tomorrow and thensome, and remember you’ve got (at minimum) one whole birdman who’s always rooting for you <3

Some Fic Ideas and Concepts
- Reader transported to future, is revealed to be one of the actual first quirk-holders, which is connected to government suppression and weaponization of quirks
- “Reader’s Halfway House for Troubled Villains” (AU where Shigaraki isn’t completely groomed and the League of Villains is more the League of Therapy)
- Reader is a counselor for U.A. and has some sort of omnipotence/meta-based quirk, they put up with So Much Shit™️ due to this fact and often wonder if a new career would be a good idea
- Series rewrite where the reader obtains One-For-All instead of Midoriya, who is still quirkless but gets into U.A. instead of Mineta due to his incredible cleverness and observational skills; he is the only one who knows their secret and helps them train with the aid of his knowledge of quirk application
- The reader is a victim of quirk experimentation by a secret government agency, possibly connected to the HPSC as an emergency backup plan to combat One-for-All. Having been raised to be more tool than person, they escape/are saved from the facility and taken into the care of several other characters. They are taught not only how to live a normal life and how to accept their childhood trauma, but also how to use their quirks on their own terms and they move forward in their new, free life.
-
Feel free to use/reblog these ideas if one jumps out at you! These were originally for me to keep track since I spawn ideas like raindrops in a thunderstorm, but I’d love if others would be able to put their own spin on them. Ultimate self-insert and reader-insert potential here 👌

Mine has always been time-based abilities. I have no sense of time and I grew up on Doctor Who so time travel's a favorite. New game+ type things are great too, learm from your mistakes, try again, this time you start off OP.
Now that is incredibly badass! It’s one thing to have a power that makes you physically powerful or indestructible in some way, but having the power to essentially New Game+ all of your challenges? I can see that building a really awesome character skillset across combat and social situations.
I’m not saying you could leave the villains quaking in their boots....but they totally would
Tell me about your power-fantasy quirks!

Hey guys! I have a quick question for my followers and the fandom at large, halfway due to my own curiosity and halfway sorta-kinda-maybe related to fanfic purposes: what is your idea of a power-fantasy quirk/s?
For example, my headspace self-insert of sorts always has the ability to manipulate water down to the molecular level. This usually also somehow enables them related abilities, such as being able to manipulate any organic matter that contains water and shapeshifting to a degree (smth smth insert logic here).
I got on a thought tangent a couple days ago about writing something of a pure power-fantasy reader-insert fic (because why not?) but I realized that what I consider to be the epitome of super-ultra-cool quirks or powers for a reader might be pretty different than someone else.
So, rewinding back to the question posed at the top, what do you guys think? If you had to give the reader a power that would be pretty all-encompassing and powerful, what would you choose to give them? If you have a self-insert (whether put to paper or just vibing in your imagination), what sort of powers do you see them having to be super cool and badass?
